What is your alls opinion of this?
I read that the OS will manager the apps in its own way...
I've also read that killing tasks will save battery...
Thoughts?
Personally, I use one only because it drives me NUTS knowing theres junk in the background
I think the general consensus is that Android and task killers do not jive. Any battery savings is negligible compared to the strain you put on the processor.
I just uninstalled task killer.. I'll let you know if i notice anything.
You can use built I ones, those are okay, just not 3rd party ones.
Sent from my SGH-I777 using Tapatalk 2 Beta-5
i also don't use an automatic task killer...but i do use a startup manager so certain things just won't start in the first place
Having a task killer/manager that you manually use to stop a bad acting app can be handy - which the built in task manager is good for when needed. But using an "auto" task killer will usually result in wasting battery as well as cause glitches and crashes you would not otherwise have.

This.
I can't stand how every program I open thinks it needs to run in the background. This is is why I use the standard task manager when RAM starts running high.
I used to use task killers and managers as well as juice defender.. All trying to save myself battery.. I got. So stressed out it was like using my phone was against the rules.. Lol gotta conserve that juice! I then I just stopped. I got sick of it. And what's funny is... I get around the same battery life I used to get now without all that. So in the end.. Just use yer phone. And have fun.

I was in the same boat. Had battery defender. Used JD at one time too. Had task killer. Then switched to es task manager.
Then after tons of reading up on the topic I decided to just dump everything.
Battery life hasn't gone down one bit. In fact, flashing to shostock v3.0.2 has increased my battery life. Loving it!
So far so good guys! It's still driving me INSANE knowing there's crap running in the background!! but battery seems the same!

Does anyone have experience with this app on the ThunderBolt? I just purchased it and was really impressed with the advanced options.
I have it but I haven't used it in awhile. It helps a little, but don't expect miracles. I don't think it's worth $5. You are better off buying a spare or extended battery.
I've used it since I had the incredible use it on the droid x and now i use on the thunderbolt I've always had good results with it's always got me quite a bit of extra battery life but the same time I am using an extended battery on the thunderbolt I can push a good 18 to 22 hours and that's running 4 g consistently

you can get the same results by doing everything manually

Turning off your data connection when you aren't using it will help a lot of people in 4g areas...sure you can do it manually, but this is eaiser...

This is just an unhelpful reply. Sure you can always do almost everything manually that an app does but alot of people like automation, which you generally are going to pay for. Does the App help, I used it a lot on my OG Droid and it did help, I have not installed it on my TBolt but I think I will and give it a try again, it also has a free version so give it a try and see if it help, the worst thing you have to do is uninstall it.
didnt help much for me. I am bamf 1.86 with control freak kernel and its saving batt very well.
I regret spending the money on it. Definitely try the free version. It seemed like a good idea but a few days after buying the app, I learned how to use my phone and android and ended up liking manual configuration A LOT more, and getting way more battery life without sacrificing anything I need.
Rooted Thunderbolt on BAMF Sense 3.0 RC 4 with MR2 radio and latest dreamKernel.
Sometimes it helps, but other times it kills the battery. Turning the radio on and off seems to kill the battery too.
My ADR6400L is just as good as your PG86100.
I have seen where it will fail to turn the mobile data back on without a reboot
Sent from my ThunderBolt using XDA App
I'm just wondering, does it really helps a lot? Because I'm running the free ver and it's not that effective.... does it really worth $8? I;ve been thinking this back and forth..
not much for me,
I tried JD on my TB when I got it, then paid for the upgrade, a few roms later I uninstalled it for all the reasons mentioned. Worse battery life, at times it would not re-enable mobile data. To be completely honest, once you pay for the extra stuff, you may not use it as much as you think you would (I didn't).
The competitor Green power is more user friendly, updated often and in my experience provided slightly better battery life. The "pro" version of that is less than JD and the only difference between free and PRO is the night functions. If you plug you phone in overnight, you don't need the pro version of green power.
In the end, I don't use either anymore. Once I got to know my phone I set things up manually.

what about things like auto memory manager?
What issues are you experiencing on ur phone?
I myself am using fast reboot everytime my screen locks since hearing about the charging issue on our phones.
Only reason you should use a task killer is to close a specific app. Find an article on how linux handles ram and you will understand why they are mostly pointless.

After unplugging from ac the standby mode does not shut down correctly causing the battery drain much faster than normal. This can be fixed by rebooting ur phone after charging
Title pretty much says it all. I have a stock, i777 running on 2.3.6 and yesterday out of the blue, the phone would lock up (not respond to any touches on the screen, the power button or the volume rocker) so I would pull the battery out and restart it. When I did, the battery would drop off like 15%.
I did a search but didn't find any relevant issues. Many people simply complained about battery drops after regular restarts, not after freezes.
Would greatly appreciate some help!
Same thing, it has to do with the fuel guage of the phone

I hate when that happens. Is there anything to do? I'll go from like 85% to 10 after a crash. Does that fubar the battery? Cause it does charge all over again

U didn't say whether u were rooted or not. So I'm assuming you aren't? Which means screen lock ups aren't from undervolting?

Read this and see if it helps..Entropy explains why the battery gets crazy after a reboot. I would assume it would be the same if you had to pull the battery, the gauge i guess would still get reset.

I said I was stock in the first post. Is there something else you need to know? Just to clarify, I haven't modded/rooted/etc. Still on stock 2.3.6 w/ Touchwiz.
The battery issue isn't the major issue, it's the freezing of the phone multiple times a day. Is there a diagnostic tool I can use that will show a log of the processes that were running when the phone froze? That could help me narrow down the issue.

I think you can avoid the battery level glitch by plugging in a charger before you reboot.
Maybe the freezes are being caused by a rogue app. I can't remember what the app is called at the moment, but there is one app that monitors cpu usage and can warn you if an app is using too much cpu time.
Watchdog and betterbatterystats. Yes u can monitor apps. But I wouldn't think an app would just start doing that out of the blue. Hmm. Its really hard to tell ya what to do if you aren't even rooted, may wanna think about doing that. Opens up a lot more options for fixing / monitoring.

Restarts are a [email protected] on battery. Every system app hits at same time. The way charge stays in batt. Anything under about half on batt charge...it will seem to drain quicker. Its the chemical makeup of batt that does it. Think of bubbles in soda bottle... More full bottle more fizz more bang. Less soda... Less bang.... And flat. Keep off any widgets ....they tap batt constantly as well as data...which hits batt. Ahh Physics and Chemistry, love it.
We will sort you out!

I don't think the sudden drop in battery is anything to worry about. My phone does that but the battery level slowly gets higher over time without charging. The actual charge level in the battery doesn't change.
Had the same exact thing happen sort of mine would heat up, freeze, then shut off, restart all by itself but it would hard reset. So my question is, Is it a brand new device or refeb? I got a referb and had the same thing at first it would freeze then after a while it would start heating up then resetting itself. So call warranty dept and ask for a replacement device and not a new battery.

Hi All, Anyone use Juice defender with CM7dx2? I was curious when I did not see anyone listing it as one of their apps, and never saw the JD icon in screen caps. Before I install I wanted to ask if there were issues with it or if it simply is not worth it on this rom.
I stopped using it when I had some issues, but that was on stock blur, and was thinking of giving it another go.
I use to use jd. But it's more efficient to monitor data and screen on your own.
Sent from my MB870 using Xparent Cyan Tapatalk 2
I use it with RC1 and enjoy it very much. With a carefully managed power plan I can easily go 70+ hours on one charge under moderate use.
Never had any issues with the icon not showing up though. Are you running the free version or are you using +/ultimate?
I'm using jd ultimate and I can easily say it increased my battery life by 50% + with heavy usage. Even with the free version I could go 2 full days on one charge.

Thanks all,
I think I'll give it another try. Glad to see there are no known compatibility issues, and it is easier than trying to maintain the settings myself.
has it been decided yet whether snapdragon battery guru is worth a crap or is Greenify just better at hibernating apps?

They seem to take different means to the same end, but I prefer controlling when things get synced myself. I may use Battery Guru to control Wifi or something.
I tried out Guru and to be honest, I feel like I get the best battery life with just Greenify alone. I swear the Guru generates a ton of wakelocks.

I noticed a significant performance boost on my htc with snapdragon. I get 15-20% more battery life but I also cleaned up alot of apps/system files from running in the background with all-in-one toolbox so I don't know which deserves the cred.
Cons:
Wait 4d 4h for SD to learn my usage.
SD manages my wifi and auto enables it. Hate this feature at my work since we use content filter.
Other than that its good
For me it's Greenify and it's not close. I had the Optimus G a little while back and I saw minimal difference. I am using the paid version of Greenify because it has option to hibernate system apps and a few other things that aren't in the free version. Plus he is constantly working to make it even better. I think I got 2 updates in the last 5 days. It's the only battery saving app I even consider using right now.

I have used greenify on my previous phone for a while. Once I got my HTC one I put it on here also. On my previous phone I did notice slight battery improvement but nothing significant. On the one I'm not sure since as soon as I got it out of the box I went to rooting and installed all my previous apps.I did however install snap dragon guru about a week ago to try it out and to me it seemed to drain my battery quicker after the learning process. I recently deleted it but stayed with greenify.

What sort of times are you people seeing with the standby and screen time? I'm curious because with root and CM 10.2 Nightlies flashed, I am on 44 hours of charge with 3hrs 24 minutes of screen time (75%) and 3% battery left. With the stock rom, I couldn't even make it past the 24 hour mark without major wake locks and battery drain over night. I also use pandora stream with bluetooth in my vehicle for about 1-2 hours a day.
Greenify by far + framework !
