CM9 is great for performance. AOKP is similar to CM9 but with more themes and ability to personalize the looks. MIUI is themed a lot but i don;t know much about its performance. Choose the one which you like
MIUI Roms are based on CM cores so they're both pretty comparable. I do prefer MIUI for the themes though, easiest way to be able to quickly customize. Honestly, try them all.

For my phone, the performance of MIUI is much better, but of course it depends on which phone you have, so you should ask at the section of your phone.

It is not true, that MIUI roms are based on CM cores. It used to be true in the roms with Android 2.*. But with MIUI v4 they have developed their own framework.
But as they didn't develop it for every phone, on some phones MIUI v4 ports with a CM base exist.
I find CM9 fastest and smoothest on my Sensation, but this will vary from device to device
Try them all and see which you like the most.

Based on CM9 on all the other phones I've seen as well with the exception of devices that actually have ICS.

Which one do you like? CyanogenMod/ MIUI/ Replicant/ OMGB or stock?

I like MIUI, I've tested MIUI Spain and MIUI Scotland.
The last one is very, very good but these days is closing :-(
Now I'm looking for a good on to my SGS (GT-I9000). Any recommendation?
MIUI for customisation and look.
CM for speed and performance
stock for stability.
each one has its own + and - . so its all personal preference.

MIUI, but I'm currently on ICS stock because the MIUIv4 ports for my device are buggy as hell. I just wish stock had the icon consistency/theming that MIUI has, its the only thing I miss.

Currently CyanogenMod, because of my Xperia X8 is not supported by MIUI and Stock crashes a lot. So CyanogenMod. I actually use a ROM based on CyanogenMod called GingerDX by Doixanh, because of the stock CyanogenMod wants FreeXperia kernel and errors occurred when I was doing it (actually I was trying to flash NobodyAtAll's nAa kernel) and I tried on my Galaxy 5 (now it is my sister's)(Galaxy 5= GT-I5500), it worked after flashing the correct baseband on ODIN Multi Downloader.
I would go with MIUI if there was a working from with no bugs. So atm I'm using ICS

What ROM do you use on your Nexus One?
Another vote for CM due to it's tweakability.
Personal favourites can be found only by testing, testing and testing.
I'd try CM, but it requires an unlocked bootloader, which voids warranty, and disables me from using OTA updates. :/
Same reason as Mattyas: Tweakability.
I like CM to, but unfortunately they didn't make one yet for alcatel ot-990 :-(
I have used it on my Tattoo that I had and it was great. I am still searching for at least some customisations that are on cm.

MIUI = Customizable and better redesigned look.
CM7 = Stock Android look (with exception of Theme Chooser themes) but greater performance and stability.
CM7 always ran much smoother and faster for me but I always loved MIUI's UI. I stick with CM7 just because it is always stable and reliable. HTC Passion (Google Nexus One).
hv tried stock based,cm based n miui based roms for sometime. all of them hv been stable n gud.
but i like miui cos of its customisation. each themes gives a new look to my fone. m jus lovin it

I have used all three types and I have liked things from all of them and found fault in all the same. It all just came down to what I liked the most for what I wanted/needed.
I use mainly MIUI as I love the thousands of custom themes that are easily mixed and matched.
In the end it is always up to what you feel is the right one for you. The best advice I can give you is to try each one for a week and after that you should have a good idea of which one is best for you.
one do you like? CyanogenMod/MIUI
MIUI. I haven't updated to MIUI v4 because I like the theming too much, and there aren't many themes compatible with MIUI ICS.
I've actually been on MIUI for almost a year.

Stock on my Xperia X8 Crashes, Original MIUI doesn't support X8 (There are ports on XDA for X8) and I have tried MIUI on My Uncle's HD2 (but not MIUIv4) (he is not from blood, just for respect and he works at my dad's office) and CyanogenMod wants FreeXperia Kernel and I am using a ROM Called GingerDX, which is based on CyanogenMod 7.1 (and available for the Stock Kernel). So currently CyanogenMod, reasons: Tweaks, themes, etc. (I just like it).
P.S: If I was unfair, then I'm sorry.
After all this changes in XDA...a few Developers leaving...and other are rising, wich Rom is the most stable, smooth, fast and light at the moment?
Write your opinion about wich ROM are you using?
What about AOKP? Xperia X10S? CM7, CM9? Jaf (Fera's) ROM? Debrand Engine? M&M's MIUI? Donut HD? Wich path to take now ???????
Donut HD is good for X10

DiKeJĀ“s Dixperia 7, or wait 4 days and he will release Dixperia 8 - i cant wait for it, it will be awesome ROM ( like DX7)
try JAF/Fera for smooth butter like experience or MoKee v0.3 for lots of free ram plus amazing battery life
I also don't know which ROM to go for. I have tried Feras but never tried JAF - is it good? Like the look of the system menu with all the options on that ROM.
Whichever ROM I try though I always end up going back to WolfBreaks! Is JAF better?

I've tried one of the ICS ROMs but it appeared sluggish because of the capped FPS. If that was not a problem I'd definitely use it
Been using donuts hd since it's first release...in my opinion it's the best for daily use.fast and reliable..it's like a superfast stock Rom without need of unlocking bootloader or changing kernel

Hey, is it done at Kernel level then? I was using the Alpha5 ROM by ChampionSwimmer (AOKP one at http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1682343)
Would the kernel I used for that be uncapped? (FXP modded kernel)
Thanks

FeraVolt's ICS is very far from sluggish and fps is uncapped as far as it can be, up to 32 in 3d and 38 in 2d, sound is amazing, no colour issues, working deepsleep, it's fast, stable, smooth, beautiful and awesome. But, like all custom ICS roms, still no camera. It's your choice of course, but i can highly recommend this one. I never tried JAF but read a lot of good and positive things on that rom too.
I've tried almost every rom & I can confidently say that imo Z's CM7ZMOD is the best, it has the perfect balance & combination between speed & smoothness, stability & customizability
Right now I'm using Achotjan's Stock Replacement Rom which is also pretty good, not as fast as CM7ZMOD & a few minor bugs but still greattt

I think that ThGo v.17c with ThKernel n4-2 ( or ThKernel n5-1 which is extremally powerfull ) is the best for Xperia X10 for now.
What you guys think about M&M's MIUI ROM? Is it up to date, stable and smooth like the ones named by you guys?
MIUI is based off CM yet It runs smoother. With MIUI there is no need for project butter. I understand that MIUI took CMs hard work and made it closed source, and this makes me want to support CM. But I've always noticed MIUI runs way nicer. Everything works faster too. I spent today comparing MIUI to CM9 and it everything works far better, like downloading from market is faster, getting location for BeWeather and stuff like that.
Live wallpapers are smoother too. There's slight lag and stalls on CM which I just don't see on MIUI.
I just want someone to explain to me why this is, if they can. Is it the way MIUI is built? Is it faster because it has no app draw?
and I think CM9 has a problem with autobrightness whereas MIUI controls brightness very well
First of all MIUI is no more based on CM source. Now they use stock roms

Well, I used to have it, but I didn't like the fact that it still was at 6.1.A.1.58 while the latest version was .2.45 at the time.
Otherwise, it was pretty good with awesome theme support, way more eye-candy than stock and battery friendly. In other ways, better than stock at everything rly.
Not to mention it's the only choice we have for those of us who dont want to unlock their bootloaders. It's also stock based which means, everything that runs on stock, runs on MIUI.
im using it

i agree with u on this. its been 6 months since i bought XS the only custom rom i tried was MIUI and got back to stock in less an hour. Sony's UI is the only thing stopping me from flashing any other rom.
MIUI is a mem hog and it's based on single country's custom build .58 firmware :/
i am using miui from past one month and love it,some what is dont like the sony ui.
Its not all about the ui,, you can have xperia S theme so its not a problem

Another MIUI user over here!
Simply the best ROM available for Locked BL.
Maybe a bit more heavy on memory, but also much more Graphical and the user options are so much more that you forget about it.
I don't have any problems with performance/memory. And, when think could be related, simply went to Task Manager and clear all apps.
Every week updating new version, without any problems.
i'm using miui too.
perf: u can use init.d tweak to get better performance
theme: use xperia theme! heck, u can even use xperia launcher and still got the miui icons u've set
mem: see perf . it's a little bit takes more memory (diifer with every kernel too, xsx v6 seem takes less memory, but i use adv stock v14 anyway), but i havent experienced performance dropped.
fw: ok, it's based on 1.58. but anyone know what real difference between 2.45, 2.50 and 1.58? and if u have unlocked bootloader, u can flash kernel that based on fw 2.45 or 2.50
and you'll get the attractive themes (icons, status bars, drop down notification, lockscreen, etc), the free desktop theme is kinda cool too and get weekly OTA update (official miui)

There are actually many ICS roms for the 5.0 RemICS-UX, Paranoid Android (PA), CM9, ICS Crumble, AOKP, Hydrogen ICS and maybe more. PA allows you to change the dpi on an app by app basis so the framework-res can be in a different dpi to the system UI. This basically allows you to combine tablet UI and phone UI to customize the rom to your liking. I like PA, but I develop RemICS-UX so it would be pretty biased of me to tell you that RemICS-UX is better. My advice is to try both and see which one you like more.
