Hi,
First of all I am a total noob in rooting Android. I have just bought a used Prime which has not the original software but the Cyanogenmod 9.
I would like to revert to original Asus software so as to have my google apps (play etc). Is this possible and if yes how?
thank you in advance

Check and see if you have clockworkmod folder on internal if that is there then check the backup folder and see if there is anything in there... Now I wouldn't suggest going back to the backup but you can download Virtuous rom which is close to stock and install it instead
If its just the Google apps you need then just flash a gapps package in clockwork mod, which is probably already installed if you have cm9
My problem is not only I lost all the Asus software (eg Polaris Office), but also he ability to install everything through the google play. My device is not recognized in the play web site and I have to install first the google apps!

thx for the reply first of all!
Is not possible to just download the firmwares from the Asus site and install them?
If yes how can I do this?
Flashing stock rom from asus will result in unrecoverable brick. However you can flash this if you want to get as close to stock as possible you can flash this http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1674827

Download this zip file(Almost stock) [dl dropbox com/u/27023946/AlmostStock_9.4.2.21.zip"] to your internal SD-card preferably in the Download folder.
Then go to your ClockWork Mod recovery or TWRP recovery. Wipe Dalvik cache and Factory Reset and then Install zip from SD-card. Choose the zip you placed in the download folder and click yes.
After a while you can Reboot to System. That's it! Good as new.
Hi,
thank you for all the replies.
I see u have suggested two roms:
1) AlmostStock_9.4.2.21.zip
2) AndroWook Prime Stock Rooted ICS 9.4.2.21
Any reason to prefer the one over the other?
Regards

So you're not stuck in a bootloop, but it boots recovery every time you restart? I can send you a .zip to flash that will get you out of the bootloop - can you push files to the internal sd card?
You bought this used? Whoever sold it to you really should have flashed gApps along with CM9, if you can't get it to work, I would contact him/her and ask to have it fixed if you can't do it yourself. That's a pretty bad way to sell a used product! Sorry, good luck.

What is the point of making a backup? I mean, you can always go to stock using odin and the JFD tar and pit.
Is backup just to save all your personal files, pics, music, etc?

I have heard this over and over. I only have one question that I could not find anywhere. Do you need to rename the "Ginger_Clone_Final_R2.zip" to update.zip? Everytime I reboot into recovery and try and get ti to install, I get the same message over and over; something to the effect of package not found. Thanks

you don't rename it. maybe your choosing the update zip from sd. it should be choose zip file from sd card then you choose the custom rom you're flashing.

Yea, thanks. I thought that was what I am supposed to do. I don't have that option though. When I reboot into recovery (through ROM Manager or on my own) I only have the STOCK recovery options. For some reason, the Clockworkmod options are not showing up. I noticed this about a month ago. I will have to try and figure that out first. Thanks again.

Have you flashed clockwork recovery from rom manager? If so, when you get into stock recovery just hit reinstall packages to get to cwm. You may have to do that twice to get it to work. If it still doesnt work try reflashing cwm from rom manager.

I had been doing everything right. I had to roll back to CWM version 2.5 (I think it is about 3 or 4 versions earlier than the current one). No wonder they have been making so many updates over the past few days. Well at any rate, I wanted to ensure I wasn't doing anything wrong. i have done it before, but for whatever reason (now known to be CWM) it just wasn't working. I got it fixed and now have 2.3. I will install my apps including Titanium Backup and report any problems. I hope there are none; from what it sounds like, I will probably not have any, but only time will tell. Thanks for posting and confirming that I was not losing my mind.

1) remove an external SDcard
2) delete contents of '/sdcard'
3) Download an official update (roebeet has a repository of them, I'd say '3385'
is a safe bet)
4) put ROM into '/sdcard'
5) Reboot into CWM
6) wipe data/ factory reset
7) Load TnT ROM
8) Reboot
9) Delete ROM from 'sdcard'
This will remove Vega and CWM. For the truely paranoid you can also repartion in CWM before loading TnT ROM.
Hope this helps

so you don't need all that nvflash bekit stuff then?
No, you don't. Download any of the OTA updates and put the zip files in /sdcard. Then use your CWM to install it. The regular updates install and replace CWM with standard recovery.
Main thing is to go in with one of the file management programs and make sure your "personal" files which you would not want some one else to have are erased and deleted.
Sorry to hear you are taking it back. From the prices I am hearing on other tablets -- I am thrilled with my G-Tabs even though they are not perfect!

Thanks for this info also. I am debating on taking mine back, not because I don't like it, but because I have a dead pixel and it really irritates me so I want to exchange it before I have it too long.
I used nvflash
I went on IRC and got instructions there to use nvflash. I was running CWM and Vegan-Ginger so I used CWM to repartition and clear all user data. Then I nvflashed to bekit and it was like fresh out of the box.
Seems there are a couple of ways to get it back to stock.
Hey guys,
I am completely new to this whole topic so I read several hours and finally came up with a plan for what to do to install omega when my Galaxy S3 i9300 (my first android phone) will arrive tomorrow.
If you spot any mistakes I would make (also in the files I plan on using), please correct me!
1. Upgrading to Jellybean with Kies
2. Installing CWM (File name is CF-SGS3-CWM-v5.5-v1.5 - It's a .tar) via Odin 3.0.4 in download mode- I think I know how to do that
3. Rebooting in Recovery mode and creating a Backup File with CWM - I think I know how to do that
4. Saving the Backup file from the clockworkmod\backup folder on my PC
5. Rebooting in recovery mode and wiping data, cache and dalvik cache - I think I know how to do that
5. Copying the .zip file of Omega to (a folder called root??) internal SD-Card folder of the Galaxy S3 (File name is I9300_Omega_v31_XXDLJ4_Jelly_Bean)
6. Rebooting in recovery mode again and selecting “install zip from SD card” to install the Omega zip
7. Customize like a boss
done
(optional)
8. Realize something doesn't work properly and spam the forums with QQ threads OR Realize I bricked my brand new phone and cry furiously
Thanks in advance for letting me know if my plan needs adjustment

Flash recovery
Do factory reset, than wipe dalvik.
Than flash Omega.
Finally reboot and enjoy
But I'm recommending InsertCoin, because it is easy theamble with better themes, very stable (still haves some problems, but reboot solves them), mostly no lags, good memory managing.

Hey,
thanks for your answer! I have to install jellybean first if I want to install a ROM for Jellybean, right? So I guess that's not explicitly in the instructions but it's still a requirement?? Or does Omega install Jellybean itself?
I am really not sure, but I think I have to install Jellybean first.

has anyone been using the KXP Milestone1 ROM for WT19i (Coconut), or any of the other devices it supports?
they have released a new version, Milestone1-R2 a week ago. i have Milesotne1-R1 installed on my phone. i just wanted to know if i can simply copy the R2 zip to my SD card, and use the "update using zip" option in CWM to update my ROM, or if i'll have to reinstall the ROM (thereby having to backup apps and contacts, the existing ROM and all that, which is a P in the A).
can anyone please help?

oh, i read that too, but thought factory wipe is for resetting other stuff (like hardware settings and modes), and installing a new ROM automatically wipes the messages, contacts, apps, etc. thanks a lot

No... Installing a new ROM doesn't wipe apps automatically... You must do a factory reset to wipe apps...
It isn't required if you are upgrading the same ROM

Just so you know, "update from zip" will look for a zip named "update.zip" on your sdcard and then install it, an update.zip is typically just a patch that only contains changes and it isn't used very much anymore. If the zip is named something else then use "install zip from sdcard"

Yes there is a way to totally format your whole phone (even the system folder). MegaWipe can do that: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1832326
Note: MegaWipe will delete your ROM from your phone as well, so you will need to download a ROM and place it in your external sd and after flashing MegaWipe, flash the ROM without rebooting the phone. Because there will be no system to load if you install no ROM.
This is one way to do that. I think there are other ways to do this also.
Thank you.
