Hey guys -- just downloaded the executive assistant app and its AWESOME.
$7 app for FREE? amazon store app rules
it reminds me very much of LockInfo which is an iPhone app... very customizable and very usable. great app here.. you guys should go get it while its free!!!
I got it, set it up, then uninstalled it...

Yup! Same here. Install/uninstall.
Price of the app, like anything else, doesn't mean it's good quality or useful.
If you need an assistant to do what this app does, you already have a real one to go with your $30M a year salary!
Also, they were offering an app the other day for free, (forget which one), regular price $1.99 or something, and the same app was already free in the Market.

I guess I'm the only fan lol... I know that price of the app doesnt mean quality.. but this app reminds me of how LockInfo was set up (if you guys ever had an iPhone and had LockInfo you can appreciate the UI).
I have mines set-up as my lockscreen with all the info/RSS Feeds/Facebook set up on it so i dont have to launch anything.
I know there are a bunch of different widgets/apps already out there that can do this, but none could replicate or improve the look I wanted.... except this app.
to each his own!
I like it... I liked the lockscreen info app on the iphone... it does bug me that i have to hit home before swiping my finger 9 times out of 10, but it looks pretty good and it gives me info at a glance without actually getting into the phone if it isn't necessary.
I just like the fact that I can use it's widget to put notification on widgetlocker. and the icons are customisable as well so thats really great.

I totally understand what you are talking about. I used lock info as well on my jail broken iphone. It's kind of a replica of that. Looks beautiful also. I'm using this app as a replacement of widget locker for the moment. lets see how long it lays on my phone lol.

what didnt you like? What are you using now?
In my experience, i havn't found an app which could do the same, or even comes close. You know any app which can display who last called you, or whats in your text/email and from whom?
For me personally, i found the holy grail with this app, which is sadly not that impressive as i wish it was. My idol is the jailbreaked lockscreen and its copy in iOS5.

Not for a while. But its still too bulky, big and not customizable for me.
Sorry if this sounds too noobish. But why cant android have a type of multitasking like symbain. We could choose what apps will be open and when they need to close. I liked the app management much better in symbain. And all that happened in low specs phones.Any way to have a symbian style multitasking???
press the home button for few seconds.
its not exactly a multitasking feature but its something close to it.

Thats what, we can only see the recent apps lis. It doesnt show which apps are still open and which are closed and niether do we have power to keep an app open till the time we wanted like in symbain.

Well that's fine... but still android doesn't give us control on app... suppose I was playing a game...i get an sms or call...i minimise game and reply... then when I try to go back to game it would have already closed and I will have to start all over..in symbian we could have that stuff with much lesser specs...

Did you even read your phone user manual? Trust me, with android multitasking working very well. Its built in every android. Just press whenever you want home or back button...make your app choices...enjoy...and if you want return back previous app, press and HOLD again home button...chooce your game or app and enjoy again

Have you ever used a symbian s60 smartphone?... Compared to it android multitasking sucks... Android multitasking works with atmost 2 apps then all get closed...
"Real multitasking is not about the task-switching UI, it's about who controls which processes are allowed to continue running in the background. If the OS terminates processes that the user started without confirmation from the user, then that OS does not provide real multitasking."
And this is the case in android phones. I just want to know why since symbain phones were able to do it and better specs android phones cant.

Well i guess symbain doesnt require dual cores or quad cores. It does very well with a 600mhz processer and 256mb ram. We could have multitasked very well with just that.

Has it never happened to any1 where you minimise an app and use some other app and when you want to return to the 1st app it would have been closed?

Low ram problems are seriously phone manufacturers fault and if you surfing around android phone forums, you'll find every second complaining about low ram problems. Agreed with that. Again about multasking...but maybe its stock phone problems....i dont know...because im never used any stock android- its crap with stock

Included in this zip are the APKs and needed libs for all of the currently working KitKat Apps. I have only tested this on the Google Experience ROM, but should work for any AOSP based ROM. YMMV with touchwiz, but feel free to make a backup and give it a shot.
-CalendarGoogle.apk
-Chrome.apk
-DeskClockGoogle.apk
-EmailGoogle.apk
-Exchange2Google.apk
-GalleryGoogle.apk
-Gmail2.apk
-GoogleCamera.apk
-GoogleHome.apk
-Hangouts.apk
-Keep.apk
-LatinImeGoogle.apk
-Maps.apk
-PrebuiltGmsCore.apk
-Street.apk
-Velvet.apk
For Email and Clock, you may need to clear their data after flashing this.
As usual, I am not responsible for anything this may do to your device. Make a backup.

No, not a race. Or is it...? lol
I like the launcher. Haven't played with much else yet.
Edit:
I was surprised as well. That's why I threw a zip together.
I'm using all of them. Can't really tell much of a difference with most. Very subtle changes. Pull to refresh in email, and its more like the gmail app in design. Clock has a better way of sewtting the alarm and the font looks cleaner. Google now is improved. Thats about it as far as I can tell.
I do like the launcher though.
Edit: double post
Is GoogleGallery working 100%, last time I check it was FC when trying to edit a picture, also is there any real difference in the Camera?
Thanks.

Gallery will still FC trying to edit, and the camera icon is different, but thats all I can tell. I dont use the camera much. Photosphere is kinda cool, but I think thats in the old camera as well.
Hows the battery drain with the new launcher? I'm assuming with google now always running (or is it not?) it can be a drainer.
Hasn't been any worse for me. Technically, its always running all the time anyway even in the old system.
Not too impressed with the launcher, using some of the apk's though

You can extract them and install almost all of them one by one. I think maps and clock are the only ones that wont over right whats currently there. I had to delete them before I could get them to install properly without just pushing the APK over the current version with ADB.
Also, Some apps wont work properly without the libs. You'll need to be rooted to push the libs to /system/lib/
Are all camera functions working?
Anyone know if the camera app is 100% working? Photosphere, etc? I tried another 4.4 camera apk, but it FC all the time.

Hi guys, VSCO is now released for Android. It's a very popular and good iOS camera app. I've tested it a little in low-light conditions, and the result is positive. It takes better photos (in low-light conditions) than Sony's camera app. It's free, so go ahead and try it! You can also share your photos taken with it here, so we can see how well it does

It's over 21:00 (9 PM) here now, so that'll be impossible I'll do it tomorrow if I remember it, or maybe someone else can do it?
The filters are nice though. It's not Instagram type of filters, but more like "mood" filters. You can also adjust the filters, so if you like it soft you can do that or if you like it to be more instagram-ish, you can do that too.
What device are you currently using again?

Indeed I tried it and that is annoying.
In any case, I am a photography fan and love my sony NEX-6 so the phone is not a camera for me. Still amazes me that Sony, that has been innovating so much (just came out with the first full equipped mirrorless Full Fram cameras), gives such a bad camera for the ULTRA phone.
This looks good

I'm all about customizing my phone with random little apps. This one I found last night is called "Hello", and it is a very simple yet extremely elegant sms app. Everything is sorted in to tabs, and the coolest feature I've found so far is when you click on a picture that was sent to you through texts, it pulls up all the other pictures in that particular thread so you can quickly save them all instead of doing it one by one.
Just thought I would let you guys in on this little gem I found! Hope you guys give it shot!

my message+ app got sent to the freezer for conspiracy to slow my phone with all my other big red apps. They are now serving a 2year+ sentence with a $360 fine if they return earlier.
I like Hello, but it would send pictures as links to recipients instead of the actual pictures. I found that several people wouldn't open them. I is probably better to send them as links that people can click on and then view them, because they would come out in higher quality. But if people don't click on them, it defeats the purpose. I also didn't like how it put an advertisement for their app on each picture it sent links for.
