Sorry if this sounds too noobish. But why cant android have a type of multitasking like symbain. We could choose what apps will be open and when they need to close. I liked the app management much better in symbain. And all that happened in low specs phones.Any way to have a symbian style multitasking???
press the home button for few seconds.
its not exactly a multitasking feature but its something close to it.

Thats what, we can only see the recent apps lis. It doesnt show which apps are still open and which are closed and niether do we have power to keep an app open till the time we wanted like in symbain.

Well that's fine... but still android doesn't give us control on app... suppose I was playing a game...i get an sms or call...i minimise game and reply... then when I try to go back to game it would have already closed and I will have to start all over..in symbian we could have that stuff with much lesser specs...

Did you even read your phone user manual? Trust me, with android multitasking working very well. Its built in every android. Just press whenever you want home or back button...make your app choices...enjoy...and if you want return back previous app, press and HOLD again home button...chooce your game or app and enjoy again

Have you ever used a symbian s60 smartphone?... Compared to it android multitasking sucks... Android multitasking works with atmost 2 apps then all get closed...
"Real multitasking is not about the task-switching UI, it's about who controls which processes are allowed to continue running in the background. If the OS terminates processes that the user started without confirmation from the user, then that OS does not provide real multitasking."
And this is the case in android phones. I just want to know why since symbain phones were able to do it and better specs android phones cant.

no I dont used never any S60 phone.....but im using android phone every day over 2years(powerusers) and for me this multitasking thing working very well. Example: listening music, same time surfing web, some emails, news, some new apps...few calls and I can switch between apps always. About gaming...sorry dont know.
EDIT: Why we dont have any S60 device with good specs?

Well i guess symbain doesnt require dual cores or quad cores. It does very well with a 600mhz processer and 256mb ram. We could have multitasked very well with just that.

Really? Have you seen a symbian phone even once and that way it multitasks? Why would i write nonsense? And i have xperia neo v. Android may be better than all os but it sucks in multitasking compared to symbain maemo etc...
Has it never happened to any1 where you minimise an app and use some other app and when you want to return to the 1st app it would have been closed?
Without jokes...all SYmbian apps are about less than 2Mb. A ll l android apps are minimum 2-3Mb...good apps about 10 Mb. This need much ram...and this is already phone manufacturer fault.

Low ram problems are seriously phone manufacturers fault and if you surfing around android phone forums, you'll find every second complaining about low ram problems. Agreed with that. Again about multasking...but maybe its stock phone problems....i dont know...because im never used any stock android- its crap with stock
Im personally can tell you-my android phone multitasking (as much I need it) working fine, offcourse im with rooted phone.

Even i am on a custom rom...Custom roms do give better multitasking than stock ones. Multitasking does work when using small apps but its just that i get frustrated after getting a game closed when minimised.

This seems to be a bit of a drawback with Android apps - they don't work aswell as ipad apps. There seems to be a lot of trial and error, whereas from what I've heard and seen (on my iphone), the Apple apps just work.
I still can't get past the lack of Flash on the ipad though, so I'll have to forgive Android's shortcomings...
I got the same problem a week ago.
then i updated my android version from 3.2 to 3.2.1 and the Facebook App stopped to work at all.
it only opens, but no info shows up.
I'm using tweetdeck right now

100% of the time same problem here. I don't think wasting your time with a factory reset will do anything...
I thought maybe my install was corrupted, so I tried 2 more times, and even ran ACMEUninstaller to redo the whole process...but it still thinks my touchpad is a GT-i9100.
what should I do?
I think it's meant to do that for app compatibility.
in that rom the developer probably edited the build.prop (found in system/app) to GT-I9100 so that a lot of apps are usable on your touchpad.
So in a way it should benefit you

The build.prop file has been changed to be able to play Gameloft games, mostly.
Rev Kyle has a video showing how it's changed.
Do a search and you'll find plenty of info on this.

Hi all
I tested almost all the Xron Roms from start to end with most of the apps and games. 2.9.1 is the best.

As stated above it is done on purpose in order to allow more apps and games to work successfully from the market. Enjoy it, it's a great ROM with great developers that will only get better!
Since it's a device that wasn't initially built for Android, not many apps would install, much less run, on it if we said it was a TouchPad.... no apps were designed with that in mind and the Market definitely wasn't.
The build.prop was edited to reflect an android device that most programs will agree and download off the market. Since the Touchpad is a WebOS, it is not to be known as an Android device. You can edit the build.prop to any device, but the Samsung seems to be the better choice of all.

if you update your facebook app, it will automatically install it. Look in app drawer.
Actually those little icons were actually only shortcuts to Messenger or Camera, in which the camera here can directly take picture and upload them, without adding effects or other.
iOS has it, why shouldn't we?

That's what pisses me off. They would have got more fame if it was released on android first, since Android is more popular. iOS isn't special, at least simultaneously release the app. -.-

Actually it does have effects. It's Facebook taking the better parts of Instagram and integrating it with their own features. I too was looking to see if it was on Android, but it's not. Doubt it will be anytime soon either.
I know I'm resurrecting an old thread, but my new app does (nearly) everything Facebook Camera does: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1797343
Since the new root method came out thanks to Condi and Smokey_Joe I have found an application which can really speed up the Sony Tablet S alot, the application is Performance Booster (root) at this link: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.gejos.android.performancebooster
I have got amazing results like the launcher is less laggy and much faster, faster tasks and much more.
Everyone should be able to root (except for the people who got soft bricked of course unless they have a backdoor) but this is worth it.
EDIT: After more testing it feels like that it is not on the stock rom at all, it feels like a really stable fast tablet.
Tried this and performance improves by a lot. Also removed the bloatware apps by sony and it helps

It happened to me, I had to keep on getting off and on the application enabling the booster since the device was slow so you have to wait for over 10 seconds for the prompt to popup.
TIP: Make sure you only select "Enable Booster" first, come off the application and once it requests SU and works come back to the app and change it to your likings.

I see no improvement. There is one easy way to lag my STS. Simply type very fast on google search with auto complete on, keyboard lag will occur with missing characters when you type fast enough. This do not happen no matter how fast I type on my note 2. So.... this app dont improve the STS performance on this respect

It improves the performance within applications, I did not say that it will remove/eliminate lag.
After using this there will be a performance boost in application handling BUT lag will still remain on most if not some application sectors.

Hey!
So around a week ago I installed 4.1.2. android on my Samsung Galaxy Ace 2.
First of all, It has been released officially for Ace 2, but it worked good for only first 2 or 3 days. Now its a complete disaster. It runs smooth only until I open any kind of app. Im starting to think about reinstalling 2.3.6 back, but I really like the Jellybean. Maybe anyone here knows how to fix this problem?
For example, this morning when i took my phone in hand for first time today, I opened youtube and turned device horizontally. They alarm clock started to ring and It didnt even offer me to shut it off. When after like 3 minutes i managed to do it I went back to youtube and there I turned device back vertically and video just stayed horrizontally , freezed and just with sound. And couldnt even turn that off for like another 5 minutes. And this goes with most of the apps. Its really annoying.
Hope to see some solutions

A memory hog app is an app which constantly runs in the background and drains the memory..
For example crappy apps like Samsung chat and others..
