The Most Performance Enchanting Root App - Sony Tablet S

Since the new root method came out thanks to Condi and Smokey_Joe I have found an application which can really speed up the Sony Tablet S alot, the application is Performance Booster (root) at this link: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.gejos.android.performancebooster
I have got amazing results like the launcher is less laggy and much faster, faster tasks and much more.
Everyone should be able to root (except for the people who got soft bricked of course unless they have a backdoor) but this is worth it.
EDIT: After more testing it feels like that it is not on the stock rom at all, it feels like a really stable fast tablet.

Tried this and performance improves by a lot. Also removed the bloatware apps by sony and it helps

Have installed this but cannot see how to give it Superuser access. The Superuser app does not seem to recognise it. Any clues?
Thanks

It happened to me, I had to keep on getting off and on the application enabling the booster since the device was slow so you have to wait for over 10 seconds for the prompt to popup.
TIP: Make sure you only select "Enable Booster" first, come off the application and once it requests SU and works come back to the app and change it to your likings.

Can you guys please elaborate on where you find the differences? In which situations? I installed this on my rooted xperia tablet s, but tbh I really don't experience any speed enhancements.

Thank you for this App !

I see no improvement. There is one easy way to lag my STS. Simply type very fast on google search with auto complete on, keyboard lag will occur with missing characters when you type fast enough. This do not happen no matter how fast I type on my note 2. So.... this app dont improve the STS performance on this respect

It improves the performance within applications, I did not say that it will remove/eliminate lag.
After using this there will be a performance boost in application handling BUT lag will still remain on most if not some application sectors.

Slow with opening apps? Or slow user interface? It shouldn't be slow unless he has tonnes of apps.

Do not make him buy a new phone, this phone can be hella snappy actually!
Start by rooting your phone, you can easily find a tutorial just by searching the forum or via google.
My personal preference:
ROM: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1263292
Tweak: V6 SuperCharger Update 9 Beta 6.2.2 (tutorial here)
When installing the tweak, chose option 7 (agressive for 512HP)
APPS: Autostart (find it in market)), preventing useless apps to start, but you must have chose the apps manually.
Auto Memory Manager(find it in market), chose agressive and save the changes.
If he is new at these sort of stuff it could take some time to get it right but it's totally worth spending a day fixing it, he'll get a fast a snappy phone in long term.
Has he tried using the task manager to clear memory? It sounds like he downloaded an application that doesn't behave the way it should (memory/cpu hog). If clearing memory helps he has to find and uninstall the misbehaving app(s), i think there's an app called watchdog or something which monitors memory and cpu usage of all installed apps.
If that doesn't help, go i'd go for a reset. And before buying a new phone, give the custom roms a go because they do tend to increase performance quite a bit!
Thankyou for the quick replies everyone very helpful, he gets force closes on twitter and facebook all the time and also it just randomly shuts down aswell.

hi! regarding the suggested tweak? is there a detailed summary on how to use and instal this type of tweak? ive been reading the post and it seems it only has the overview.. thanks!
my advice is just forget all those mumbo jumbo tweak script. its already incorporated in cfroot kernel. its also doesnt make sense. all it does is doing the same thing. tweak vm dirty, tweak minfree, tweak stagefright and so on with the only difference is the fancy mancy name to make it looks yummy. people just install 2-3 script with different name when all it does is the same, and u actually already done it when using cfroot.
You might also want to avoid CM because it's unstable, just flash a stable custom rom that's still in active development. Make sure to get the latest cfroot kernel version.

They have, but UK operators are notoriously slow with pushing their own, branded versions. Especially on a midrange phone like the Ace. Avoid CM, especially Grif's as that has quite a few bugs. Some bugs in Cyanoace but not as many from my experience.
For starters, root your phone (or get a custom rom with integrated custom root), than download Titanium Backup from Market, and then uninstall all the unnecessary apps, also, delete app and internet cache. That all should make your phone better than new
I would agree about using cfroot.
Root phone with cfroot, titaniumbackup pro backup to sdcard, factory reset, download mode and flash latest stock rom from sammobile.com, root again and then restore apps only, only restore app+data for games.

Though Zeam is the lightest the newest contender that is very close to zeam but has alot more features is "nemus launcher" which is made by the same folks who make Regina 3d Launcher.
I run it on an ancient tablet I have with 256mb....a script like V6 Supercharger can help to optimize your OOM (out of memory) settings for the memory you have.

I was thinking of rooting ny phone, will the warranty be void if i do? I got thus phone at radioshack and swapped my sim from another phone.
I wounder what radioshacks return policy is and if they have a wwarranty.
But ill keep that in mind, "ram manager" what dies it do?
Also, 450mg is not enough when att has put a bunch of gay apps that take up around 100mb of storage and they randomly come on in the background, the task killers i have don't kill them so i have to go force stop them.
Also I'm not spamming, i found forums who were looking for stud like that so i suggested.

Why do you want more free memory..free memory=wasted memory on android..It should not be a worry.
You could start by installing one those many roms that have 833 or 839mb ram, that'll do a bit.
And use TB to freeze all hose bloatware apps
I'm on #SuperNexus 4, and have 380+ free all the time.
Besides the fact that a filled ram is a benefit for the android system and the start of apps, you can even speed up your device by using two things.
1. Install the "Android Revolution HD"-Rom (XEO-JB-Release recommended to flash first and then use the v.11.0 of Android Revolution HD.
2. Flash "Perseus"-Kernel. (Works flawlessly and super-fast with the Rom above.
I am using this for a while now and I am experiencing an excellent battery-life and a super smooth UI and in-game rendering

Multitasking

Sorry if this sounds too noobish. But why cant android have a type of multitasking like symbain. We could choose what apps will be open and when they need to close. I liked the app management much better in symbain. And all that happened in low specs phones.Any way to have a symbian style multitasking???

Have you ever used a symbian s60 smartphone?... Compared to it android multitasking sucks... Android multitasking works with atmost 2 apps then all get closed...
"Real multitasking is not about the task-switching UI, it's about who controls which processes are allowed to continue running in the background. If the OS terminates processes that the user started without confirmation from the user, then that OS does not provide real multitasking."
And this is the case in android phones. I just want to know why since symbain phones were able to do it and better specs android phones cant.

How to “Beat the Stock”

I need your help! I need your recommendations so I can add them in after testing, this guide is incomplete and should have more options. Also, I need more sections. If there's another set of apps that you want me to review for our phone, just let me know. I'll gladly update this guide accordingly!

Phone
Well, in the end, regardless of what some of us may think our L9’s are, they are phones. I know, surprising right? Our phone has a good looking stock dialer, but MAN IT’S SLOW. So I’ve created a list of replacements that operate perfectly on our device.
exDialer: This is my personal choice, and definitely the one I recommend the most. The UI is elegant, and it’s incorporated into an extremely efficient combination of Dialer/Contacts setup. The sheer ability to switch from Dialer to Contacts smoothly without lag is an enigma in itself. If that wasn’t enough, there’s a decent amount of themes available on the Play Store to further mix it to your liking. The ICS theme is my personal favorite.
Dialer One: This is a pretty good app for those who want a fast dialer for their phone, and don’t mind not having a Contacts app to match it. This doesn’t work for me, since I need Contacts integrated into my Dialer like exDialer does. But this app does the job for those that need a dialer app by itself.
Contacts
Contacts+: Same as the app above, it’s just a shortcut to take you straight to the Contacts portion of the app. Recommended to those who want a closely integrated feel of Messaging, Dialing, and Contact…ing.
Messaging
Textra: Download this app NOW. This is seriously, as of now, the best texting app for Android. Ever heard of ChompSMS? It supports native Emoji, Group SMS with iPhonies, doable customization, and an absolutely SICK notification feature. Seriously, download this app, next text you get, click the notification and watch the magic.
Browser
Opera Browser: Okay, so this has been updated consistently for about the last year or so, and I’m LOVING it. It has a ton of options, including cloud compression on a low connection so it speeds up YOUR browsing speeds. It has the usual problems, notably lag when loading multiple images and sometimes not registering your touches when you click links. It’s Chromium based, which means it is similar to Chrome. Obviously.
Chrome: Brought to my attention by @peoplegetpeople, it's a good browser and it is useful if using Chrome on your computer and wish to sync bookmarks/history!
Must-Have Apps
Ttorrent: This app is for torrenting and "sharing" (uh-huh...) files.

Lol, you're totally right about the browsers. I got mad when chrome want on the list! (I like my integration) but seriously, your guides are the ****! Keep it up man. Textra and exdialer are now daily drivers. Also, your locked mods thread made me love this phone. Good work, sir. Good work indeed!

Ehh, what I would recommend is everything I use lol.
Updated with some relevant "Must-Have Apps."
The aviate launcher looks pretty nice. Unfortunately I need an invite code.
Another keyboard to check out is Google's stock keyboard. You can get it from the play store. Uses a lot less memory than kii and quite a bit smoother.

I just checked. You can add pretty much any language for input and download dictionaries too. You switch languages by holding down the space bar.
There's no options for themes. Stock jelly bean.

And alright, I'll add it in if I can get another keyboard or two to add as an official keyboard section. Thanks!

Also, another app that I find useful is Censor**** on the play store. I use profanity with my friends and this loads most of the common words into the dictionary so auto correct doesn't try to correct it. It's a pay app and English only.

I'm quite attached to perfect keyboard, suits me well and very customizable. Dolphin browser is my favorite except the added that stupid touch button in the corner but it can be removed. How about music players? I've used playerpro with the dsp pack for the preamp for along time now.

Ooh, want me to make that a section? Music?
Music sure. How about inverted apps? So far I only have YouTube and maps inverted.

Thought I'd throw these in here.
I use Now Playing for music - it's got a cards-esque UI, plays really well, beautiful widgets. And it works with ViPERFX, which is good.
Also, I've found I really like Sliding Messaging. It was buggy, sometimes it doesn't work well with MMS, but it's themeable and the new Slideover feature is great.
