[Q] Problems with JellyBean on Ace 2 - Android Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hey!
So around a week ago I installed 4.1.2. android on my Samsung Galaxy Ace 2.
First of all, It has been released officially for Ace 2, but it worked good for only first 2 or 3 days. Now its a complete disaster. It runs smooth only until I open any kind of app. Im starting to think about reinstalling 2.3.6 back, but I really like the Jellybean. Maybe anyone here knows how to fix this problem?
For example, this morning when i took my phone in hand for first time today, I opened youtube and turned device horizontally. They alarm clock started to ring and It didnt even offer me to shut it off. When after like 3 minutes i managed to do it I went back to youtube and there I turned device back vertically and video just stayed horrizontally , freezed and just with sound. And couldnt even turn that off for like another 5 minutes. And this goes with most of the apps. Its really annoying.
Hope to see some solutions

Did you use greenify root app?
It hels you to hibernate apps when you are not using them.
Also try not to use memory hog apps..

Havent used any app for now.
Android was installed with official wirmfare with Odin3 v1.3.
And what is memory hog app , and what if my phone is not rooted?

A memory hog app is an app which constantly runs in the background and drains the memory..
For example crappy apps like Samsung chat and others..

Rooting will allow you to remove bloatware from your phone and hence speeding up your phone.

whats bloatware? sorry im kind of new to this stuff..
and I just found out that the youtube is the only thing that makes my phone freeze. when i open a video it just starts lagging and freezes the phone. everything else works fine. could it be some kind of update (youtube) problem?
and also... do I get some other advantages of rooting my phone too ?

My phone is very slow. Please help!!

Hi all,
I bought my neo v last week and it was brilliant for 4-5 days. But nowadays the phone response very slow. When I come out of any app the icons take time show up. Earlier it happened only when I came out of games like temple run. Now I've uninstalled it. Now even when I came out if messaging or camera, the icons take time to build.
Sometimes during a call incoming, it takes long time to show the contract details.
Should I do something to check if everything is fine with the phone. I really doubt it is the speed of a 1 ghz processor. Also the ram has only around 50 mb free even only music player is running.
I've installed avira, which I suspect could be the reason for this slowdown. Im unable to uninstall either.
Could someone please help me with these for a android new comer? Please let me know if u needed more details to help me out.

Avira could be the cause, is it installed from market?
Find it Play or the phone's manage application screen to uninstall.
If it is still that slow then try a master reset, anyway it is just 4-5 days' thing to lose.
use superchager v6

Thanks. Im thinking of the reset as the final option if nothing else works. Manage applications can't uninstall avira. It says uninstall faulted. Will try thru play and let you know soon.

wifi disconnects may be router's fault too, some funky power saving crap i know my router has setting to kick clients when no activity is on it
Im using go task manager in mobile. Let me see that could be the problem.

Yes I've now uninstalled needless talk and power managers. It's getting better. But still I've only around 75 mb ram free. Most of the used part is occupied by system services and the software installed by se lyk liveware manager and data monitor. Any suggestion to stop them from unless needed? Anything other than rooting the device?

If you want to stop the bloatwares, you really need to root. You can freeze them or uninstall them permanently, just make some back ups. Have you tried resetting it? I mean factory settings reset? You should try it. Dont install battery savers, task killers and antivirus. It may slow down your phone and eats up your battery. Its better to restart your phone daily to free ram and reset it. If you have done everything but it still becomes slow, contact your phone dealer. You just might have yourself a factory defect phone
like what other said, root your phone or better yet, use custom roms. those bloatware is eating your ram thats why your phone is sluggish. as pandemic said use v6 supercharger to handle the memory.
It is a primitive sort of advice but if u don't want to root your phone...then try auto memory manager and set a parameter to autokill background processes...the processes u don't want to be killed can be whitelisted.
And try some kind of startup manager to prevent unwanted apps from launching by their own...but even then some of them would initialize bcoz of other events...that's where auto memory manager comes to play.
But last advice...its really a very good idea to root your phone to gain full control...service centres really don't care if you are rooted or not unless you unlock the bootloader.
Edit: am not sure if startup managers require root or not...it would have been stated in the app description.

I checked with other person who s using the same mobile. His is comparatively better and games perform better than mine. I'll go for reset but can someone tell me how can I back up all my data. Should I download all the apps again if I reset? I'm really worried since I dont own a broadband but just downloading using mobile internet. Can we back up apps also?

Multitasking

Sorry if this sounds too noobish. But why cant android have a type of multitasking like symbain. We could choose what apps will be open and when they need to close. I liked the app management much better in symbain. And all that happened in low specs phones.Any way to have a symbian style multitasking???
press the home button for few seconds.
its not exactly a multitasking feature but its something close to it.

Well that's fine... but still android doesn't give us control on app... suppose I was playing a game...i get an sms or call...i minimise game and reply... then when I try to go back to game it would have already closed and I will have to start all over..in symbian we could have that stuff with much lesser specs...

Have you ever used a symbian s60 smartphone?... Compared to it android multitasking sucks... Android multitasking works with atmost 2 apps then all get closed...
"Real multitasking is not about the task-switching UI, it's about who controls which processes are allowed to continue running in the background. If the OS terminates processes that the user started without confirmation from the user, then that OS does not provide real multitasking."
And this is the case in android phones. I just want to know why since symbain phones were able to do it and better specs android phones cant.

Well i guess symbain doesnt require dual cores or quad cores. It does very well with a 600mhz processer and 256mb ram. We could have multitasked very well with just that.

Low ram problems are seriously phone manufacturers fault and if you surfing around android phone forums, you'll find every second complaining about low ram problems. Agreed with that. Having CONSTANT lag!

Does having a lot of downloaded apps on your phone create lag? I currently ha e more apps on my phone then ever before but I'm not sure if its due to running jellybean rather than ics. Its getting quite annoying that the phone freezes up all the time.
Sent from my Jelly Bean'd EVO LTE
Having a lot of downloads apps is fine as long as you have sufficient storage left "IMO". However having a lot of apps running at the same time can cause all kinds of issues lag, freezing, rebooting, etc. You can check the play store for a startup monitor app and restrict all of your downloaded app from running at boot. Well all of the ones you don't want running at boot. "Waring" Use extreme caution if you decide to go this route with stopping system apps from starting up when the phone is booting up. Only stop apps that you know are safe to stop from starting at boot. If you don't know don't stop it until you find out. Another option is titanium backup. If your rooted/or plan to root. Its an app that has a slew of useful features, the ability to freeze data apps and system apps as well. Once you freeze an app it won't start up when you turn the phone on. If your concern is storage you can try an app called links2sd. You can find the app here
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.buak.Link2SD&hl=en
in the play store. Also you can check out the website's f&q here

Glad you got it all solved. Also a start up monitor app isn't a task killer if that's what you thought I meant. You can use apps like system turner pro to overclock and underclock, etc. Also it has the option to let you control what apps start when you first boot up your phone. Task killers are different. I would not ever recommended using one.

Did you clear all the caches? (Included dalvik, etc)
If not, clear it or do a google search if jelly bean is compatible with your device.
If all things above fails, try to re-root your phone with a root thats compatible with your device.
Good luck!

There is an official release of JB for Galaxy ace 2. so it should work perfectly... And root shouldnt be the the reason to stop laggs.. Isnt that right ?
Im really mad actually, i bought a phone wich was supposed to run JB smoothly but it really doesnt. :/

Free up some memory till we get root

If anybody else is having issues running out of memory before we get root, here's what you can do.
Go to Settings>Apps, scroll to all, and see which ones you can Disable.
I haven't had any issues since I did that.
Also, ART has given me a lot of issues. If you don't know what it is then your fine.

Yeah, the Sprint stuff we're stuck with til we get root/unlock. If Sprint/LG stays true to form, we won't even be able to remove bloat until we get unlock.
I'm a minimalist as far as my phone, so I have very few apps and widgets. Im always modifying things to make stock better.
It amazes me though that we have 3gigs of memory and it easily goes down to 500mb. That's when I start having issues and why I posted this.
I don't even use FB or G+.
Can't wait for root/unlock to see what this phone is really capable of.

Actually I've gotta give it up to Sprint/lg for actually giving us the ability to remove about 95% of the bloat. The very few that I actually couldn't uninstall I just hid. May not be perfect, but an effort was made to allow us some control, and that's a great start. Hope to see more of this in the future. [emoji106]

I hadn't thought to run ART, but I decided to try it out. It's actually super smooth for me, no issues aside from Pandora, but I fixed that. No weird freezes or reboots like I had on my Note. The only thing that hangs slightly is Media Browser, but it's usable.
If only we had Xposed for ART. And root... good things come in time though.
I have been using an app for a few years now with some pretty good customization. Fast Reboot Pro. There is also a lite version. It works great for me. You can decide which apps it handles and if it will free memory when you unlock or lock your phone. Also a widget to free up memory when you need a quick boost, which is the way I use it.

Why would you disable them? Try clearing cache and data on them. If that doesnt work you can try to get copies of the apks.

Unfortunately my phone froze once a day on art.. Plus after I rebooted ..which wss a task in itself ...it would freeze at the yellow startup screen has to pull battery... Which with a otterbox defender is always fun. No issues since I switched back to dalvik

I had no issues with ART for about 2 weeks. Then one night I went to sleep woke up and some apps as well as some games started to act very funny. They would load then crash out the Facebook app itself would hang forever and never work yet the night before everything was working fine. I went back to dalvik and I've had zero issues since that time. ART was nice minus the issues I had I would love to keep using it.
What is this ART everyone speaks of

Android Run Time. It's supposed to be better, more efficient than dalvik. It's under Developer options in settings.
