Hey,
is there anyway to enable the hidden dock in ADW Launcher Ex 1.3.3.56? or at least a way to downgrade to 1.3.3.55, the last version that I believe had the hidden dock? My middling search abilities seem a bit lacking.
I've seen another thread where in the OP mentioned adwex launcher, but the steps to enabling the feature doesn't exist in this version (ie w/r/t: adwsetting/ui setting/main dockbar/dockbarbackground/custom; the custom option doesn't exist, not at least in the one I just downloaded). Either way, it looks like a secondary dock.
I've also seen another thread where a poster suggests the OP tries the free version, except the free version's been tagged as incompatible with the SGP 5.0
Thanks
the free version works on the sgp, it's even included in cm7!
if you want to downgrade you'll have to download the older version off the internet, but that would be pirating...

well, AppBrain redirects to Google Play, which lists my device as incompatible => can't download. Same goes when I try to dl via the laptop.
Well, I assume that if I already paid for the newest one, that older versions of the program would be accessible. that's just me though
I use ADW Ex and I can have a hidden dock by going to themes > dock > none. Is that what you were wanting?
Nah, but thanks for the reply.
Actually, turns out that the dev killed the feature (a dock within docks) in this version. boo. still, I get by by adding the folders onto the dock. Launching apps from the dock are now a 2-step process instead of a single step. THE [email protected]#!@#!#!
Actually, it isn't bad. Makes my dock look like it has port windows.

BuddiesNow: I need some help to get this Samsung app to work correctly under any ROM. Meaning, I need them as Widgets and not just shortcuts to it.....
I know it work fine under the stock TMO roms with the supplied launcher, (but also not under all the launchers, specifically ADWLauncher!). I need it as a widget and not only a shortcut to the app.
Can someone please help me with it: with these:
I have sign it with my own certificate, but I keep getting this error:
Failed: [INSTALL_PARSE_FAILED_NO_CERTIFICATES]
What I have tried:
1) Sign this app with my own certificate,
2) Uninstalling BuddiesNow, wipe Dalvik-Cache
3) Uninstall the remainder of the app from Applications (nothing found)
4) Install with ADB and as an app - none works.
still gets the same error.
After signing it with my own certificate and uninstalling it, I now get :
Failure: [INSTALL_FAILED_UPDATE_INCOMPATIBLE]
Please help.
Tried looking for the app in Market too, but I guess it's Samsung property (and they probably shoot me now, right?....LOL)
Update: Doing a logcat during the installing of the app (from a filemanager) I get: Package com.sec.android.widgetapp.buddiesnow has no signatures that match those in shared user android.uid.shared. ignoring!
Touchwiz widgets will only work with Touchwiz, just like Sense widgets will only work with Sense. There's no way make them work with ADW. However, Launcherpro Plus offers similar (and IMHO, better) widgets. Launcherpro is also very fast, loaded with options, and the Plus version is only $3. Give it a try.
Edit: before you get flamed, this should probably be posted in Q&A or General.

Thanks....
I can understand that it could be bounded by TouchWiz (or whatever). It's not that it is not working, it is just not working as a Widget (shortcut works).
Well, then I guess not just only Samsung will shoot me, but the dev's too....I overstep on their territory...SORRY!
No need to get defensive, if you hang around XDA for a while you'll find that some people won't be so nice. You're right about the widgets, they are coded to work specifically within TW frameworks, unfortunately there's no way around it. If you like ADW, try Launcherpro. You have to pay for all the goodies, but you can afford a $200 phone, so $3 shouldn't hurt too much.

Has anyone found or manage to install the "USA TODAY for Tablet" on their NC? I'm trying to track down the APK but can't find it.
https://market.android.com/details?id=com.usatoday.android.tablet.news
Does anyone think updating the build.prop to match the Xoom would allow it to be downloaded from the Market on to a NC?
I use the phone version frequently and would love the tablet version on my NC. I was surprised to not see much mentioned about it on XDA. If anyone has managed to install it can you verify that it works on Honeycomb v4? I'm afraid it's going to use a different sdk version (11, not 10 that the Preview image is).
It wouldn't install because we are using the wrong sdk version but if we could get it to install, I imagine it would work. I don't think it's using anything the preview sdk didn't have. Try asking someone in the xoom forums to post the apk. They'll be the only ones who have it.
Don't forget that Honeycomb has a new UI method which this might use. Pulse now will use this, but you won't see it on anything less than Honeycomb.
Activity Fragments
Honeycomb allows developers to break the Activities of their applications into subcomponents called Fragments, and then combine them in a variety of ways to create a richer, more interactive experience. For the landscape view, Pulse allows you to open the story right there in a new fragment. This allows readers to simultaneously browse and read news stories.

I've cross posted in Xoom forum. Maybe someone will post it for me.

Yeah Fragments look interesting. I don't expect the apps to work on anything below Honeycomb.

Does anybody have the .apk for this? It doesnt show up in the market.

Here you go... (Attached)
Free version. No piracy involved.
Its one of my favorite news Apps, too. Wonder why they yanked it? When I discovered it was gone, I started keeping back-ups of my Free stuff online for this very reason.

The apk worked for me until a little while ago. Now, I get an error that I must download an updated version from the market. Searched in the market and couldnt find it
Hey folks, I have two general questions.
Ill start with the first easy question.
I would like to get the dock app that comes in the stock rom in an apk that will work with other roms. The dock I am referring to is the one that shows the weather and news and other various information in a sort of gigantic widget and you can scroll thru the different screens in the dock for different information (and at the bottom is a list of all the installed apps). And I would like all of the apks that this dock app uses as well.
I have tried just pulling out the dock.apk file out of the stock image file and sideloading it, but the problem is, it crashes the tab on bootup with every rom I have tried.
This second question is a bit more tricky because every rom has different apps they decide to include that are simply not necessary. If an app is available on the Google Market, I dont want it preinstalled with the rom, I will install it manually myself. If an app is installed that does not make use of the hardware (see the Phone apk), this app is using resources for absolutely no reason I can see and should not be included with the rom.
So, what I am looking for is, a list of all apps that normally come on a stock Google phone (in other words, apks that are included with the Android stock rom BEFORE manufacturers add their usual crap to it) that can be safely removed from all roms for the Gtab because the Gtab does not have the hardware to utilize said app (I would think anything like messaging, the phone, or the gps).
I am not looking for guesses here, I am looking for someone who knows a bit about Android and can safely determine what can be removed that is COMPLETELY useless regarding the GTab because of its hardware.
If you are still completely confused, here is a link to a website where someone has done something similar to what I am talking about with Windows. Read the paragraph or two at the top and then click a link below the paragraph based on the version of Windows you have. This will tell you services you can safely disable. I am looking for the same thing for the Gtab.

Hey guys, I am about to follow the root instructions found here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1354487
But before I do it I want to know what features could/will be lost in doing this. Obviously the auto-update (which makes complete sense). But in general I like the interface for now. It has its drawbacks, but I like the built-in mail client and the browser is fine for the most part. In the future I might also want to try ICS on it, but for now I am happy to use the built-in interface.
I really just want to root so that I can side load apps so that I don't have to pay B&N for apps that are otherwise free on the Android Market. That and I have never been a fan of auto-updates. But I want to keep the mail client and I especially want to keep the ability to read their entire digital catalog for free while I am in a B&N store.
Hell I would like to take that a step further and get it to work outside the store if possible. But I would settle for just keeping the original feature. I tried it earlier today and I love that feature.
So I would like to know if I would lose any of those features when I root this device. Does anyone know?
Thanks,
Patrick
When you Root you can still use the stock Nook "Home" launcher. You can install a second launcher and switch between the 2 on the fly so that you have "Nook Mode" and Tablet Mode".
2 warnings:
1) when I rooted and added Gapps, something broke the stock email client and I was not able to find a quick way to fix it.
2) I have not found a way to get Android Market or side loaded apps to show up int he stock Nook "library" so they can only be accessed via the "search" function or my using an Android Launcher with a normal app drawer.
I use the Nook Color App Manager to add sideloaded apps to the stock Nook home screen and/or library. It works great.
There is a detailed artile at liliputing....Do a Google search for: "How to add sideloaded apps to your NOOK Tablet home screen, app library" As a new member I can not post a direct link. Sorry.

Hey guys it looks like the read in store ability works just fine still. I got this device rooted last night. Now iwant to see if this ability can be retained somehow while upgrading to ICS. It would also rock to be able to access the in store readable items from any wiring connection.
Thanks for the help!

After successfully converting my BLU R1 HD to the non-Prime version, I discovered something cool. The non-Prime version includes a shortcut in the app drawer to open Amazon Appstore. It also handles it in such a way that Android will treat Amazon Appstore and Amazon Shopping like two different apps, even though they are really the same app behind the scenes. This is far more elegant than Amazon's official solution, which is to place a shortcut on your homescreen (not in your app drawer) which doesn't even act like it's own activity in the Android Task Manager. Very nice. I have taken the liberty of extracting the APK that makes this possible and making it available for all phones. It's attatched. Just grab it and install it on any phone for a seperate Amazon Appstore. You will need Amazon Underground app installed, of course. This does work on any phone, but I'm putting it here because this is the phone I extracted it from. If this is the wrong place, my bad, sorry. Enjoy!
The APK is attached to this post. There's also a mirror on my server at the link below.

Update 2: Presumably due to F-Droid's store link stealing technique, you must specifically choose Amazon and "Always" when opening it for the first time after installing F-Droid or this app, whichever comes last.
Update 3: I think this is really cool, but I would like to reverse engineer it to come up with a better version. Keep your eyes out for that in the coming months.
