With my Droid X I was able to use ROM Toolbox to customize everything. Now when I try, It doesn't work. Could somebody please either explain how or point me in the right direction on how to change the color scheme, battery icon, WiFi icon, signal icon, boot animation, boot logo, and anything else changeable by ROM Toolbox? Thank you ahead of time because I would really like to know how to do this!
So all of you AT&T Galaxy Note owners have no idea how to do this? Right along with me? Hopefully someone could help with this question....

Download cm9 or aokp if you want to customize
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I717 using xda premium
most of the newer ICS leaks don't allow you to do much of this customizing; the GB ROMS still allow this though..
it won't be much longer, once the "official" ics is released by sammy, things like this will be remedied
Thank you all! I appreciate it. So there is an official CM9 fully working?
Sent from my Rooted Samsung Galaxy Note Running ICS 4.0.4
the latest release on 5-25 pretty much works completely, just a few little quirks..you can use it for you main rom now though
im a person who likes to customize colors also .. im quite a nit-picker
I as well used rom toolbox on my droid x so I kniw what your expecting ir would like as those where good features to theme. Unfortunately it doesn't work for the note..if you are still on gingerbread try uot kitchen to build some tweaks to your current theme or rom its awesone and very very easy to use plau with alot of theming options available ..

The cm9 build here has many bugs so bad (speaker volume) very low.. I had to resort going back to my other rom..I really love cm9 rom besides the volume issues (hopefully you text more then calls) ..
Good ol days changing all the colors and what not on the Droid X....ahhhh I remember those..
Lol those were the days. I'm on stock leaked ICS latest version. Don't want CM9 if it still has all those bugs. Thanks though

I was just wondering what you guys thought about ICS.
Is it worth downloading now, or would I be better off waiting for the Official Samsung release, whenever that may be?
Waiting for Samsung would mean that I would have to download, preferably, through Kies. However at the moment when I connect to Kies it tells me that my phone is unable to be updated through Kies... could someone help me out with that please?
Thank you in advance.
I would probably wait for an official release from Samsung. Some of the ics roms currently out are great for everyday use, but there are still some bugs.
You wouldn't have to update through kies when the official ics releases. Someone on xda will definitely make a flashable zip. Hope this answers your question.

Hello New_World_Order,
if I were you, I'd wait - not only because of existing flaws (maybe speed, battery or bugs), because it's unfinished,
but also because of the fact that not every app is running with ICS right now.
Many users are currently reverting back to GB and wait because their favourite navigation or something else does not work.
So waiting will have a lot of advantage...
Greetings Psy

Personally, I am enjoying using the latest Samsung's ICS leak, XXLPB, and I am definitely not going to Gingerbread. This ROM is pretty stable, and even TouchWiz looks better. However I understand that many apps are not optimised for ICS, and while some widgets don't support some of its alternative skins (Mobility Flow's Animated Weather Clock, for example). Nevertheless, if you prefer using official updates via Kies instead of trying the latest (and often unstable) leak flashable via Odin, it just may be not for you.
Thanks to the two guys above,

I found it on another site.
I'm waiting for the .zip file to download, then I'll do it and let you know the results.
Only problem being is it will take a while as I have to wait another half an hour after this file finishes downloading to then download the file needed to root it.
I'll come back in an hour or so!
I'll come back in an hour or so
Usually followed by HELP then how do i remove ICS .
But at least you have had a lick .

Make sure that it is full Samsung and no custom rom because you should first flash original one when you upgrade from GB.
Greetings Psy
I would recommend waiting.. I just installed an ICS rom and it keeps dying and booting on me..
It is recommended to wait, but you can try it now
Okay so I'm back.
ICS is installed, and I'm just using Titanium Backup Pro to restore all of my apps + data.
(Whilst I was writing this, Titanium finished restoring, or so it said, but there were no apps? Any idea as to why this has happened and how to fix it please?)
First look, I'm pretty shocked.
It's not much different compared to GB.
However, what has been added, is great. I love the way that double clicking the home button brings up a task centre type drop down with which you can close your apps. Great idea, similar to the iPhone.
Overall, I recommend waiting for the official release, but if you're impatient like me, then sure, go ahead and give it a go.
Not all apps are working on ICS but almost all do. I am happy with Resurrection Remix ics v9.4 Ultimate XXLPB 4.0.3 FULL-Wipe ROM http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1436854. It is very stable fast and good battery. No way am I going back.

Well actually depends of what are you trying to do with your ROM, right now all are experimental and certainly had bugs, if you like testing flash now
Btw i'm using the Resurrection ROM of westcrip too and it's very stable.
Wait, wait, wait
while XXLPB is the most stable so far
it still has a long way
a lot of bugs
a lot of random restarts
not to mention not all applications are compatible
I took a look at the Resurrection ROM last night before hand, however the latest ICS was released so I went for that.
Everything works perfectly fine, the only thing missing is the flash player on the browsers, which im sure someone knows how to fix!
Overall it's quite good.
Testing the battery life today as that's important to me due to college 9-5 on most days.
I'll give you guys some feedback tonight about my first full day!
Sent from my GT-I9100 using xda premium
If you are rooted or plan to root, I would recommend Westcrip's Resurrection ROM 9.3. Battery seems good so far, fast and almost totally bug free. The official ROM will not be totally bug free & probably heavier on the battery. The only drawback is many of the apps will not work with ics. If you have a problem and have followed the instructions for Resurrection, it's likely that the problem is an incompatible app.
My suggestion is go for it, it's better than Gingerbread and you can always install the genuine version when it comes out.

Am I safe in assuming the on screen buttons (home, back, and whatever the other one is) wont be on the GS2 since we have actually buttons? I love the ICS theme but maybe since we have had the theme for so long already it just seems old already. How do you guys feel?

Onscreen buttons won't be necessary when we get kernel source - they're a temporary workaround for our touchkeys not working right on I9100 leaked kernels.
So far, I haven't been impressed with the ICS leaks for the I9100. A little bit of kernel tuning might fix that, not sure yet.
CM9 is quite slick on the Tab 10.1 - so a properly working non-Touchwizz ICS port should be good. The problem is that Samsung's anti-developer attitude makes me doubt if CM9 will ever be properly polished on the GS2. There's just too much of a minefield of undocumented Samsungisms throughout the device.
I was not in a rush at all to get ICS. I saw Entropy's thread with working firmware and the in call audio fix so I though I would check it out. Turns out I love it. I think its a huge improvement. G+ is a nicer experience and Gmail has a new look. Having Chrome as the default browser is pretty nice with the option to view as desktop ..and since flashing CM9 I've noticed incorrectly spelled words get a red line under them for easy spell check/fix.. I am absolutely loving it. I can't seem to pull myself away from ICS now

I don't even want it.....at all. AOSP used to be clean......nothing......minimal. Now its a iPhone. A whole designated launcher with integrated everything ......its Touchwiz.....its Motoblur.....its....Sense. The official version we will see will be a themed settings menu and a new version number.....I guess its cool the wifi icon and battery will be blue.....there are a couple of things that make it alright in its function. One thing is for sure is that it makes the device it was designed around lag like a son of a *****....shutters like a frozen homeless hooker.
Maybe a cooked version comes out sweet.....Entropy will make a nice sweet kernel I am sure.....but official **** and straight AOSP .....I will be fine without it.

You guys do realize you can use any launcher you want right? I've used ADW and Nova on my i9100. Both work great...
ICS Fixed the Settings menu layout. In GB there was way too many things. ICS cleaned them up. I would say it's more MIUI then iPhone.
And EVERY iteration of Android AOSP has come with a new theme. Google keeps it fresh every time. This time was dark with lots of bright blue. Next will be Light with lots of... who knows, orange, maybe...
You can theme it how you like, you can still run what ever launcher you want. Or you can go back to GingerBread... All I can say is that for me it has fixed all my little complaints, if I had them.
I have ICS running on my captivate right now. I do like the new UI, but I have to agree that with all the ICS themes out there, I am not excited by the look. It does seem old already. At this point I'm on the fence. There have been some awesome roms come out recently in the development section so I can wait. Truth be told I am rocking the black and chrome theme on checkrom right now and loving it. More my style

Exactly. Its got its hooks in about 80-90% of the firmware (just like Sense does).
As for liking ICS, remember the Froyo days? We had a lot of well working smooth roms and made Froyo enjoyable, then Gingerbread came out which seemed more like a theme than anything. But it was under the hood that made a lot of differences. The same is true for ICS, except the "theme" is a lot better, cleaner and intuitive. The under the hood stuff seems like a bigger leap then Froyo to GB was.
So am I excited, yeah. Theming can be done on any phone/rom so Im not worried about that, but where they placed things from older versions is much welcomed. Its the underneath part that Im mostly excited about.

Red.....I agree with everything you said. I do understand the depths of Touchwiz also.....I won't whine though as I am running a nicely themed version right now.
I also am right there with you with the old 2.1 roms ....those are what made me love android and spend the first year I was a member here reading until 4 in the morning. I am OK with the direction the ICS OS is going.....its just the look and what is now considered AOSP that is hard for me to digest. I realize that it is just a canvas but I am old school...every ROM I download, I pull apart change what I want, theme it....some times build my own custom theme....so I am not worried about the look over the long haul.
What I can say is that I was running ICS on my HD2 before the nexus was even released....it was fun at first....but the new-ness rubs off real quick....somethings I loved, some I hated......None of those things are something that I feel I am missing out on. Hey to each their own....my brother in-law is rubbing his nexus in my face every chance he gets.....and refuses to believe, that I don't believe, his phone is the greatest ever. But I don't......I just don't think its the same android....its cool and sooner or later we are all getting it whether we want it or not.
The one thing I am going to miss, is taking my brand new bloated phone, and flashing a sweet. ....squeaky clean AOSP ROM and after it booted seeing that sweet minimal dock and nothing else......now after a flash the first thing I have to do is get that hideous launcher with their oversized gimmicky icons off?????.....AOSP just aint what it used to be. I think I am just jaded that they took away a little piece of my Zen man...

6.- Takes a lot of time to sync with my Wireless Access Point.
7.- Some native functions on Setting not works.

Was on the rooted leaked ROM posted by task but I just restored back to UnNamed 2.2.1 after a couple of days. It bugged me that I was not able to view battery stats and contacts tab was missing in the dialer. I hated the wifi bug of it not being able to reconnect automatically.
I really liked that the stock messaging app did not show mms as slide show and I loved the pattern lockscreen (clock, brighter wallpaper and smaller dots). Never did get the weather to show on there though.
For me UnNamed works better. Might try out SHOstock this weekend if I am not too busy.

I tried Mystic's rom and was not satisfied with ICS, i've been on unnammed 2.2.1 for awhile and with launcher pro it flys. I used Apex launcher but it still seemed that the rom lagged switching screens. I use email a lot for work and hated that the background was black instead of white like GB. Overall, the rom was well done by Mystic no real bugs I could see but I think I am going to wait for our source to drop and hope who ever did UnNamed makes an ICS rom. We have the i9100 source already and the only real benefit from i777 leaks could be NFC if it were included. Ultimatum is a good ICS ROM which will be rebased soon. Phone Bricker is also good I don't know what the OP is doing wrong. Most of it is just waiting for better i9100 firmware to be released along with allowing time for our current kernels to mature a bit.

I think a lot of the problems are with the latest UCLC2 Modem. I was having major heating issues and reverted back to KH7. Now all is well.

I am running Baked JB right now, but as I said I'm a little partial to the TW OS, and battery life isnt as fantastic.
Thanks in advance,
Ben :silly:

superclean was the best during my days with the fascinate with the stock kernel. good times
Hi...I'm new to the world of rooting and such...I rooted my Thunderbolt last week using the one-click program (found from different thread on XDA)...Now, I would like to install a more current rom since ICS is still not available. Also, I would like to improve this phone's perforrmace (I know it can do more).
There are a lot of different rom's at there and I am looking for something stable and does not cause any loss of phone features(very important)...The sense interface is nice, but I do not know what else people are using. If possilbe, something that is not an all day affair to download, setup and so-on.
Please give me some thoughts (I know this is very subjective, but most of you will have better insight that I do about what will work and the level of difficulty to set-up).
Also what happens to the phone when future updates are released from either HTC or Verizon??
My phone is Sense 2.1, Gingerbread 2.3.4 and Software(Radio??): 2.11.605.19710RD.
Also, will I have to worry about things like different kernels or radio upgrades??
I appreciate everyone's input in advance and I know there will be many thoughts.

HTC finished our ics build and we are now waiting on Verizon to decide whether or not to push the ota. If you're looking for a stable rom and everything works then try thundershed 1.6 or any rom with that as a base. They are all very good roms. I personally prefer sfkcm7.2. As for ics liquid ics is really very good and most of the issue with it are minimal. If a working camcorder is a must then its not for you.

Thank you for the information...can you reply with download links and screens shots for these rom's??
Also, can you help me understand what steps I will have to follow for this to work correctly?? Meaning additional software, formatting etc. so everything is working afterwards.
The Liquid ICS I think I will stay away from for now...What will happen when OTA updates are sent??
Sidebar: Currently, my Standalone GPS Services icon is constantly flashing in the toolbar and draining the battery...only way around is to manually toggle off & on the service...This started after I ran v6 supercharger script...Did I do something wrong or does this script not work well with the Thunderbolt??
Thanks again,

The only thing I would suggest that you download is 4ext recovery. There is a thread for it in the development forums. It will replace clockworkmod recovery with 4ext recovery and it is all touch screen. You can buy the full version from the market and I will say it is worth the money. If you dint have titanium backup that is another that you should download. You can get a free version from the market. Don't worry about otas once you flash an aosp rom. That has been disabled in the rom to prevent bad things from happening. Most sense based roms have it removed to but if you get the notification then postpone it as long as possible and Google how to disable it. I know the name of the file that needs to be renamed I just don't remember exactly where it is located.

Agree with the Thundershed recommendation. It has been more stable than the stock phone with with better performance and way better battery life. Everything works including the wifi hot spot.

Thundershed is great and all the roms based off it are good too.
