I apologize ahead of time if this is an easy problem, but I haven't been an Android user for a very long time.
Everytime a new text message comes in, there will be a notification stating so. After I read the message and even after replying to them, the notification is still there and won't go away until I hit clear.
Is this intended for the notification to continue to notify you even after you've read the text? I actually have "Received notification - Show notification in status bar when messages are received" turned off.
Thanks in advance.
Are you using stock sms or something else?
troy
am having the same problem and I and using the stock sms. When you open it from the status bar and then you go to sms it still shows as new until you open it up again.

also if you use the widget, and answer, the notification stays there =[
Same. I have to go into the message and back out a few times to clear.

same here, i have to stay and leave the message open a second longer or reopen it. I guess we're too fast or something :X
When you open msg's from notifications panel, widget, app.drawer or switch to them via holding home hit the menu and go to all msgs then hit the menu key once more and chose mark as read.
Locked & Loaded
This has been a common HTC issue since my Touch Pro 1 days...too bad we don't have root to fix it.
My icon on the top won't go away even when I click clear. as soon as I shut the screen off and back on it pops back up until I go into the messaging app and then the conversation

Damn really? The original EVO didnt have the issue
If you don't have an Evo3d well you don't have an Evo3d
Don't see how its a common issue when mine operates as it should

mine does it also.
Same here. My Evo4g didn't do that, stock or rooted. I deduced that its a bug, and am hoping it will eventually get fixed up.

If you read through the thread you would see that multiple people said they didn't have the issue. I don't know exactly what causes it but it isn't happening on all phones.
I got it here too. Didnt have the issue on my OG EVO
It seems to freeze up a lot. I will select apps and they do nothing, same with downloads from the market. They just hang at showing them as downloading.
I use SPB Shell and sometimes when it does this it will also stick between pages rather than just flinging to the next it will actually just stop in between pages until you continue to scroll though.
When I select links to open, it does nothing until I actually open the browser. I have only had the phone for a few days and it worked fine, now its doing all these weird things.
Anyone got any suggestions or ideas, let me know otherwise I'm afraid I may be taking it back...
Something may be wrong with the phone. I haven't experienced none of that. Even out the box. Actually its been so fast for me that if I experience the littlest bit of lag it drives me nuts. Might be hard ware related.

LOL dude you have the data guard enabled. There is a setting in their that holds downloads and other things in a queue until you are using WiFi in order to save battery. Just disable that and you'll be on your way And the SPB Mobile Shell problem is probably a problem with the app. Contact the developer and tell them about it. There aren't many nVidia Tegra 2 phones out there so it's not very likely they have done much testing on the architecture. Also, what kind of links are you talking about? Like a link you receive in a text message?

Yeah it really sounds like you have Data Saver enabled which is located under Battery & data manager in the phone settings. If not you may want to exchange the phone as faulty. I have a lot of issues which my Photon: stuttering during music playback, random reboots (twice in 2 weeks so far), and feedback when using the audio out (buzzing / static). These seem to be common problems but the performance issues you are mentioning do not seem normal from what I have read in these forums.

You would be correct. Although i went from the Hero to an LG Optimus S, and now the Photon.
No problems like that with SPB Shell here. Check the data saver mode. You can also try changing the vm heap to 48 or 64. Mine is on 64 but never had an issue with the stock setting either.
Update...
It does appear that it was SPB Shell which sucks because I was really liking it. I will send a message to the dev and see what happens. The funny thing is that is was working great the first few days that I was using it and then started acting up which was why I didn't thing it was SPB

How do you get it that high? I am using VM Heap Tool and the highest it will let me check is 48.
It's not data saver. Or it shouldn't be. It's an Android flaw.
I've had an Incredible, Thunderbolt and then Photon. Which means I've used a few Android phones over a couple of networks (more if you consider the 4G's as their own networks).
99% of the time my phones work fine. Every so often it will stall downloading an app, or an email will just sit on sending for a longggg time. Unless I am recreating the same conditions over three phones and two networks I think this just happens every once and a while.

I'm glad you found the issue, this right here always tells me it was something you installed that caused the problem. When it worked fine out of the box and then....
Just watch what you install, install one app at a time and see how it flows for awhile after each app. Yes, it may take awhile to get all your apps on but you will know what apps are causing you issues! Like a previous poster said, there aren't many T2 phones, so just be careful what you install!
Glad you found the problem!

Maybe there are fixes for my issues. As I am new to android I'm not sure how to get them corrected. Here's a list. Maybe someone can land a hand.
How to keep screen on while on a charger.
How to make the GPS turn on and off when app starts and finishes.
How to set so it can detect a known wifi source, then activate wifi.
How to get the long lasting battery results everyone seems to be getting.
How to set the email app to open to the emails versus the screen to select which account to view as I have multiple accounts set up.
How to keep the lockscreen front turning off 3 seconds after I hit the wake button but not swiping to unlock.
That's about it for now. I come from an iphone ecosystem and am used to a few features my JB iphone provides. I'm sure ill have more "how to" questions.

There's an amazing app called Tasker that will do a lot of your wish list. It's all about contexts - e.g. "on external power" "App {x} is in the foreground." It's the best ~$6 you'll ever spend, and never want to have another phone with out it. Almost all of it's awesome functions work without root, too.

However froyo up... android does a better job on its own...
Think about it... running a program that is on all the time to "save" battery?
Sent from my MB508 using Tapatalk
As to you wanting the lockscreen to stay on longer, there are several lockscreen replacements you could use. I'm not sure which ones have the option besides widgetlocker though. With widgetlocker, you can set the lockscreen timeout to various durations. I know it worked on my infuse, not sure about the note though.
The downside is that it costs a couple bucks and it will drain your battery a bit if I remember correctly because it keeps the device in a wakelock and does not allow deep sleep. Its not a huge battery drain, but it does some. However, if the timeout is more important than a tiny amount of battery drain, I suggest doing that.

Ive heard numerous times that it takes 1 or 2 seconds for the S3 to turn on after u press the home button, someone told me that it happens on all Sammy devices so i tried it on my SGS1 and there was no such delay, so im guessing its not down to the way Sammy makes their devices.
I also heard from the early reviews that S-Voice can be turned on directly from the lockscreen, maybe this is the cause for the delay. try turning S-voice off (not that your going to use it after the first week anyway ) and see if the problems persists, i also heard this from someone else and said that it does remove the delay.
Get back to me if it has helped.
I have a delay of around 1 second, and I have... like... everything turned off. S Voice is nothing I'm interested in so I have it all turned off and frozen in Titanium Backup. Same goes for unlock "toilet" sounds and ripple effects and whatnot, I'm not using any of it and I still have the lag.
Even GS1 has 1,5 sec delay
The "delay" is because the phone is waiting for a second press to see if you wish to load "s-voice".

I don't think it will, but it might depends how well samsung have linked the software
Kernel hacks can fix this, we did it on the s2.
I have noticed this as well with s voice turned off. My galaxy s was pretty quick but it had a custom rom built for speed and responsiveness.
Anyone noticing that after slide unlock that the home screen takes a while to come up? Takes a nice sec or 2 while all the app icons and the weather widget to come up.
I think sometimes the launcher has to reload after unlocking the screen, causing the delay

Kernel hacks didn't do anything on the S2 concerning the issue and specific cause. The issue apparently is modem related as it takes a long time to sleep and wake up, and the S3 has the same type of modem as the S2.
even the S2 had the s-voice like feature which would be activated in the very same way.
opening the s-voice app, going into settings and unchecking the "start s-voice (by double-tapp)" or something will solve your problem
You can set the home button to start up S Voice when double-pressed, but that means the system has to wait and make sure what you want it to do if you only press it once -- resulting in a pause. We've seen the same behavior any time an OEM decides to add functionality to a button with a double-tap, but this time its easy to fix. Just disable it in the S Voice settings and you're home free.

That doesn't sound right. The launcher just randomly takes its time to load, regardless of whether it's waking up or not.
Example; I was playing Reckless Getaway when I got an email notification. I quit out of that and got back to the launcher (Apex) instantly. Loaded up GMail and read my email. Once I quit out of that though, there was a 1-2 second delay before Apex loaded again.
I'd expect that after playing the game, not reading an email..

Agreed. The app you jump out from seems to be random. Even sometimes the same app launcher time is pretty random eg exiting Firefox sometimes launcher reloads but sometimes doesn't. Seems like the OS is killing launcher when something else needs the memory and then reloading it as you quit other apps.

If you use apex launcher and tick "keep in memory", you don't get this loading issue.
Also, it's not s- voice. I just disabled it in applications, so it's almost as if it's not even installed now, and there is still the 1 second delay. The big question is howeve... Why the hell does this even matter to any of you? After a week of owning this phone I never thought to myself "ohh this lag takes 2 centuries and is really annoying", no. It's about a second, sometimes it ot even that. Stop complaining, everyone has this "issue". It's not that important.

It's not only a second, IT'S HORRIBLE!!! Someone have to find a solution for that or I'm going crazy everytime I push the power-button
Edit: I thought I found a solution by turning off all effects and clock settings for the lock screen, but it worked one time and after that I still have the "one-second-lag" after pressing the power-button to get on the lockscreen. %&/*ยง
Do no one has an solution?

How funny you are, but it's still the same...
Between two versions of Jellybomb and two versions of MiniN3 MaximuS, my screen will not timeout while connected to any charger. The screen will dim at the set timeout interval but will not turn off automatically. However, when I am not connected to a charger, the screen timeout works just fine. Did I miss something? Is this supposed to happen?

I'm wondering if it might be "daydream" related? I had a similar issue with a Docking setting in an earlier phone...
(edit: after further research, that doesn't seem likely...)
I guess my thinking here is that if it's followed you through updates and roms, it would either have to be something physically wrong (I don't think so), or a setting that Google has backed up for you and reloading when you log in.
I also have a couple apps that do that to me when they are running in the background. (Onkyo remote, as an example)
Sorry, No real help here.

To me it sounds like a setting in developer options. it keeps the phone awake and the screen on when charging. Uncheck stay awake. If it is not check then it is something else. In settings it is under the general tab. If you do not see developer options then go to about device and tap on the build number 7 times to get it to show up.

SOLVED!
Thanks chief! That's what it was. I've never changed that setting, but it was set to, stay awake...
