Hi All,
I would like to try a better ROM on my HD2 (Tmous WM6.5)... any suggestions and where to download?
BTW it was running really slow for some weird reason so I flashed stock ROM back on and my MobiTV stopped working
I found the mobitv cab here and tried to reinstall it, it immediately upgrades to the latest file from MobiTV then it says cannot authenticate user. WTH...
But anyway I'd like to try a few ROMS since so much work has gone into making them...
Thanks!
http://forum.xda-developers.com/forumdisplay.php?f=534
Artemis & Energy are worth trying & near top of threads on link above, Energy being my favorite & a superb WM6.5.x experience.
Do read up a little to make the install & user experience a smoother task.
very cool thanks I got a couple of the Energy ROM's. the install says to install hardSPL first
update: I have SPL 2.10.000
cant install now go find what to do to get to a compatible SPL....
update 2: i installed HSPL 2.08 then an energy rom, looks great! i installed mobitv, and the program just freezes when started. any idea why?
update 3: just installed skype and it too wont work... mobitv and skype my two favorite apps grrrrr any advice appreciated!
update 4: got skype working by going to internet browser first (wake up internet data connection?) mobitv still dead, jim
Skype has setting for connection type used when started, wifi, sim data ect so this needs adjusting to your requirements & will save need of triggering data via your browser.
As for Mobitv I am unsure as have not used it as for AT&T network only, could be your version only runs on genuine AT&T rom & need a modded version to run on other roms, do a search on NRG rom thread & see if you come up with anything. I will browse later & if see anything relevant post links.
Hi just an update, I did install one of the Energy ROMs and it looked and worked AWESOME! Many thanks for the help here to get that going. My HD2 on/off button died and the screen wouldnt respond, same as the last one. I bought a button strip off the web but broke the HD2 trying to get it apart to do the install despite following the youtube example. I wont buy another HD2 since the lower right button is obviously defective and they wont back it up.
Waiting for the Samsung Galaxy Note to come out on TMO-US, and meanwhile I picked up a Dell Streak 7 with Android 3.2 and a monthly sim card for data. I cant receive calls (except on skype) or SMS, so I bought a cheap walmart flip phone and when the Note comes available I will try that, even though they are EXPENSIVE without contract!
Also, of COURSE the Streak's honeycomb 3.2 wont run TmobileTV but it does run skype nicely. I find it odd that there is TmobileTV for 2.2 and 4.0 but not 3.2 but whatever.... :|

I did the flash of the DCD 2.2.6 and it shows I am now running 2.2.5 so I am not sure what happend there. I also did the radio update so I can use the GPS. Now I have reinstalled everything else I was using with pretty good sucess. Still cant get the cube to work, but I havent spent much time there. I am more bothered I cant get the TCPMP and Flashvideobundle to work. I used to watch youtube vids and such and it worked great. Now when I go to a site like youtube and find a video I want to watch when I click on the video it takes me to another page instead of like before when it would say in a drop down box watch video, something link?(sorry I suffer from CRS), or save video. Anyone know what I need to do to get this going again.
I had the same problem, but it seems to have been resolved in the 2.3.x series. Try upgrading and if you have the same problems, you may have an outdated FlashVideoBundle.
I cant seem to find anything higher than 2.2.6
Well, there were links to roms for 2.3.1, but those have been removed, but there is a kitchen to build your own rom...easier than it sounds.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=371314
Thanks silentbenton. I wish I had the time to learn how build my own rom. I can barely spend enough time here to keep my phone running slick. I would love to add the battery meter back in on the dcd rom. I saw the link for the 2.3.2 kitchen, but no rom.
I did finally solve the problem with TCPMP and flashvideo. After numerous installs and uninstalls I finally figured out that after installing TCPMP you need to do the file associations then install the flashvideo bundle. That seemed to get it to work with no problems.
Thanks for all the help.
I really like the DCD kitchen, I don't need a lot of stuff in my rom, but there are some OEMs that I like to install and now I can have it autoinstall my cabs with the UC compatibility. If you are looking for something that is more customized and has most of what you're looking for already installed you might try Nexvision's rom. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=364043
If you would like some assistance building a rom, you can PM and I'll try my best to walk you through some of the steps. It is easier than it sounds
Thanks again silentbenton. I am going to try that ROM now. That is if I can figure out how to install it.
Doh. Just updated to that ROM and it looks cool. I cant seem to get an internet connection. Always gives me some error.
Are you on Sprint or another carrier? You might need to call your provider and have them reprovision your account, I had to at one point.
I can't get it to work on 2.3.2 either. I've tried it with the flash video bundle and with CorePlayer 1.2 and neither will work.
Are you using CorePlayer or TCPMP?
I just turned off the phone and took out the battery like someone suggested. After about 20min fired it up and works great.
Noob question as I migrated from the palm world recently, If I yank the battery, will I lose any any data? I'm running No2Chems latest and have lost Google and Youtube as well.
Edit: well, I yanked the battery and while I lost nothing, my TCPMP and Flashbundle still won't play google or youtube vids...
I've tried TCPMP and CorePlayer. Neither have worked since 2.2.6
Hi guys
Little help needed.. I've had the phone since Aug 09. Had loads of problems with it, but have now decided after nearly a year to update phone as I've lost all notification lights, the charging light, etc. etc. It's not a great phone at the moment!
Donwloaded latest ROM from the HTC site, plugged in phone, and it wouldn't work. Something about the abl, or acb? Wouldn't connect properly when searching etc.
Anyway round it, Tried disconnecting from net, but figure it needs the connection. But didn't work either way.
Is the latest Orange update the one to go for? Does it help the lousy signal, the frozen text messages?
When it says you lose all data, can someone clarify that for me please? Numbers, Sim card info, Phone numbers info, Pics, Music, Email set ups? etc. etc.?
Thanks
Which ROM have you tried?
If you haven't tried it yet, try the VillainROM 12 I think its pretty stable.
Hi, its the latest one for Orange on the HTC forum, but that's not the problem.
It's the fact I can't get the programme to take. It's that ab thing that keeps stopping me and the ROM just exits..
If your ROM is rooted then you shouldn't install the HTC official updates, instead look at the developers forum here and try ROMs from there. For example VillainROM 12 and many others are based on the latest official HTC update.
If your ROM is not rooted, I am not sure what the problem is. Assuming you don't want to root it, maybe you can get support either from HTC or from the shop you bought it at.
Have you got the latest HTC Sync installed?
Hi
Thanks for your replies.
No, not rooted, not anything, since I got it 12 months ago. Other than plugging into pc to transfer pics which always worked. HTC sync? Not aware of?
Never updated Rom ever, but its given me so much grief over the last year, I get maybe 2 web pages and then it freezes for ages and the green line sits for 10 mins before another page. Is that the nature of this phone? Would an update make a difference to that problem?
I downloaded few apps the other night and removed them and now all lights notifications and charging lights don't work. Typing is so laggy and painful to do. Texts won't scroll for minutes...
I just can't understand how everyone says this phone is so great?
I know its a year old now but its always been like this.
Any help much appreciated.
Install HTC Sync and you're problems should go away, though you may need to boot into fastboot and install the driver for that too for the update to work. I can describe that if necessary.
Thanks again ...
Fastboot? Lost me on that one
What does the Rom update erase?
Will try this tomorrow and see if I can get sync on there
You lose everything, but considering the problems you're having this may not be a bad thing. You can backup certain data without root access (such as texts i believe) but that is about it. Check out SMS Backup & Recovery for that. HTC Sync will do contacts (though you should really be using Google contacts by now rather than phone or sim).
Having said that you should lose nothing on your SD card, but I would format that after putting the new system on just in case (so backup to computer etc).
I'll explain fastboot if it's needed. Post back detailed error messages if you get any after installing HTC Sync.
Thank you for your help. I will attempt that when I'm at home, can't do at work.
Forgot to ask, have many others had the phone switching itself off problem? It still does this, and only when you remove battery will it switch on again. No idea why, but you can press every button and nothing doing till battery is removed. Love to know what causes that...
I'm a great ad for this phone huh.
Hi all - first post on xda - please be gentle ;-)
Can anyone suggest what may be the most stable setup on the HD2? the constant freezing is starting to make the phone unusable for me as I use it for work and before I move to something else I thought I'd ask some advice on a better setup.
I have had WM machines (pocket PC) for a long while mainly Ipaq and my last 4150 worked for years without a hitch - couple of screen taps and any info I needed was there quickly mainly excel spread sheets e-mails and schedule, the thing never missed a beat in years. The HD2 seemed the ideal phone replacement.
I have not gone mad with the phone it is pretty stock with a couple of usable mods (CHT and editor etc) every day or so, maybe twice a day I press the on button to bring up the lock screen and it freezes - always when I need it most - it freezes in a particular way ie I can see the taskbar at the top, MENU and PHONE on the bottom (which "react" when pressed but do not bring up the function) and blank screen in between - it needs a soft reset - I have installed the endkey long press which works but this always happens when I need the information quickly and waiting for it to reboot is not quick enough
I would dearly miss co0kies home tab and the couple of mods but if a standard ROM is the best so be it (was going to try the vodafone 1.72 ROM) - or is there a real stripped down ROM that is simple and stable removing all the baggage on the standard ROM. I've never done it but I'm not averse to having a go at cooking a ROM if it will get me what I need
I use all the "business" type functions - dont need twitter/facebook/footprints etc would really use the documents Tab
ROM 1.66.405.2 (76641) WWE
Radio 2.06.51.07
Manila 2.5.19211619.0
Co0kies home tab 1.8.5
CHT editor 1.8.5.1
Resco Registry add in
Resco explorer
Skype
SPB Backup
Avian waves BattlineSvc
Microsoft .NET CF 3.5
Windows marketplace
Each time it locks up I'm getting fed up of friends/colleagues swiping their Iphones at me going "look! mine doesn't do that"
I like the HD2 I'd like to be able to say "but yours doesn't do all this" with all the extra capabilities - instead I seem to be always rebooting - waiting for sense to launch
I don't want to lose the HD2 and its capabilities but If I cant get it to be a bit more stable the Desire is looking tempting or even (wash my mouth out with soap) an Iphone?
Any thoughts or suggestions would be really appreciated
My hd2 became unstable when i had cookies home tab, its been solid as a rock since I uninstalled it, give it a go, I don't miss it anyway.
oh, and if they want proof, my friend has had the same locking up issues on 6 replacement iphones. it crawls to a halt then refuses to react, so he has to wait until the battery goes flat as he can't reset it...
You might want to try moving up to the 1.72 wwe rom and try that with and without cht, perhaps even try rolling back to an older version of cht.
I used to suffer the lockscreen freezing on the stock 1.66 rom.
I cant remember if it persisted after moving to the 1.72 im afraid, I dont think it did though.....
Does it only freeze when using the cht lockscreens?
HardSPL your phone and flash-

CHT works fine along with anything else I have thrown at the ROM!
Stable as a rock and is an excellent dive board into Android as well.
For extra "cut down" disable sense and run Resco today plug-in as your home screen.
I used to flash numerous times a week, but, I haven't changed a thing since 16th Aug and that's a record.
what version of CHT are you using as i had to revert back to v1.7 due to the latest one giving me problems...i would suggest to upgrade your Rom to 1.72 start fresh again and install all necessary apps you need one by one that way you can analyse if certain apps are conflicting causing the frezzing problem that you have ....if that doesnt work try a custom rom.

On the iPhone tell him to hold the sleep button + the home button for a few seconds... That should do the trick.
i had the exactly same issue on my second hd2 and had my phone sent in (also vibracall was sounding abnormally), i should get it back this week. i hope CHT works then, my first hd2 never had problems like that....
Thanks indeed for the info I did have a sneaky suspicion that CHT may be a problem, I will try the stock 1.72 and maybe try a few things one at a time see if it helps thanks again
ive had problkems that sound like that, the lockscreen disapears and you can see the screen you have behind, except you still have to slide to unluck . with the vbn rom my lockscreen problems dispaeared complelty. it still seemed to suffer from memory issues but for the most part it was stable.
i hardly use windows mobile anymore, as android is way more fun, and it never complains about not having anough memory
I would suggest couple of things:
- make sure, that all the additional icons (if any) and wallpapers used are in phone memory, i.e. not on sd card.
- using bsb tweaks You can disable wm 6.5 lockscreen and give s2u2 a try
I have the Elegancia GTX finale ROM on my phone
1. All emails that are set up are delated within a couple of days, annoying to have to set up everything again.
2. Issues with apps that keep giving errors and login info delated (same as issue #1)
3. Cant reply to email , gives error such as not authorized or not on list
4. This phone seems so slow at times, have SK Tools to clean up stuff but this phone feels slow...3 APPS on device memory only...media saved to sd card
5. App market is a joke
Well $ucks to be you. I have none of those issues, though I have Energy ROM.
Ditto, Cleanex Core here...
That rom sounds useless! Using Dutty CDLC9 & Shubcraft 1.5 Android. The Dutty rom has been running flawless from the start & Android is missing auto backlight after a day or 2 of tweaking.

1) no clue what the problem is
2) post the errors you recieve
3) check if proxy is enabled in dataconnection if so disable it
4) no idea
- its usefull to post ROM date and Radio version.
- its usefull to give more inforamtion regarding errors and handelings you did before
As far i can see it's a ROM based problem. It's not caused by the HTC HD2 phone. I use Radio 2.12.5.2_2 with Miri and Dinik ROM and it works flawless, also ROMS from Artemis/ Energy and [email protected] always works flawless and fast.
Maybe its a good idea to try the Miri and Dinik ROM, its fast, stable and energy consumption is 0.3% per hour instead of 0.7% what most ROMS uses.
You can also try CleanRam to see if it speeds up your phone. Trying to empty your temp internet files, temp emails and other temp files might help too.
or the OP could sell the hd2 and get something less complicated.
You can set up xml's to restore emails after flash.
You can use xda_uc or sashimi to restore all programs and settings.
Myphone takes care of contacts and messages.
Flashing shouldn't take more than 30-60min tops to be back where you were.
Yeah man, If you can't figure out how to use your HD2 I'll take it off your hands.
Those of us who really enjoy using our HD2s spend a lot of time reading on these forums. That is what I suggest you do.
well it is windows, and for some reason it always feels like it bogs down over time. Mind you, microsoft didnt seem to really get to grips with memory management until windows 7.
simple solution.
task29
android compatible Radio (2.10.50.02_2 seems a common one)
Android compatible (there are many, but i really like VBN's ROMS)
Download an android rom - now this is where you should probably try a couple. and read tons, then read some more.
Android works pretty well if you set it up right
problem solved, you love your HD2 again

Thanks for the post ...the rest well I guess it's part of the A-hole attitude
Not doing a Andriod rom till all the bugs are gone
The rom is good but as the above issues state I do have issues.
I've decided that emails well they will just have stay off my phone...
Hi everyone, and hails to all devs. I'm a long time lurker, first post here. Should have posted in the development thread, but it won't let me because I never posted before :-( ... so hopefully roebeet looks at this section as well...
Also, some background about myself, I'm an android phone user, being using an rooted MB300 phone for a year now. But I am a new gtablet user, and jumped onto this bandwagon with the rest of the wooters. I've flashed the newest TnT lite 4.4 (3/30/2011) onto my gtablet, the installation is smooth, booted up without a problem, and just to be safe, I also did a data wipe (well, actually a factory reset since I didn't use CWM to flash the system). The system runs fine, everything works great, except two things.
1. It won't let me switch input method. I've downloaded and installed swiftkey and iflytek to the gtablet, and in settings, it won't let me check the enable checkbox, after pressing on the checkbox for about 100 times, it finally give me a FC...
2. The speaker constantly playing a low pitch drumming sound for no reason, the sound comes randomly, even during the system idle, with no apps running (i force stopped all running apps in application management). So I figure it is not a problem associated with a perticular app.
is anyone else experiencing the same problems, or is it just me? If it is just me, I'll probabiliy reflash the rom, and hopefully have better luck at it.
Thanks a lot.
To get the keyboard working you'll need to move the apk to data/app then reboot and switch keyboards like normal, I used root explorer. As for the sound issue, I'm not having anything like that on my end so not sure.
Yeah, the keyboard addon issue is one that stock has had since Day One, so TNT Lite is also affected. It's one of many reasons why VEGAn is such a popular ROM, as it doesn't have this problem. VEGAn also supports USB mice, as I recall, whereas TNT (Lite) does not. I keep hoping that the vendor will fix this problem, one of these days.
That sound might be a hardware problem, however. I would recommend getting back to a clean stock baseline like 3588, and test it that way for a day or so. TNT Lite 4.4.0 is using a UAT 3991 system image that should work fine, but perhaps there's something buggy in there. I haven't had the issue, at least not yet.
thanks a bunch for the replies, I've actually played with the stock rom for a day before flashing, it doesn't seem to have to sound problem, and I've flashed to calkulin's rom, it doesn't have to sound problem as well, maybe if i reflash tnt lite, the problem would go away. As for the input method, after encounter the same thing with calkulin's rom, I figured it would be a limitation with orginal tnt system... thanks a lot anyways, I'll try out the different roms on the board, have nothing better to do at friday night anyways...
That keyboard thing
I went nuts wondering why I couldn't change keyboards even when I had three different ones in the input method showing. Here is something someone else posted that seems to work everywhere. I just tested it on tnt lite 4.40 and it works there too. Go to some app that wants keyboard input. I used QuickOffice - QuickWord. Touch the area that will call up a keyboard for input but do a long press. A menu will pop up and one of the choices will be input method. When you choose it another menu will pop up with all the keyboards you have installed. Whichever one you select will become your new default keyboard. To change to another just repeat this procedure. Hope this helps.
enigma0456,
I have the same issue as the original poster and what you and many others describe does NOT work for new keyboards installed via standard methods. Before new keyboards can be exposed to that selection list they need to be enabled and the TNT settings UI doesn't allow for this. :-(
I put together a quick tutorial to push whatever keyboard apk you want to the system.

That's very cool, good to know.

I do not have any problems with the speakers.
Have not tried a different keyboard.
I am seeing problems coming out of sleep. I get FC on gapps and have noticed lag as well.
Problems with tnt lite 4.40
Hello everyone, i'm new to the rooting and flashing thing. I just bought the viewsonic g-tab and right off the bat noticed that I hate the orginal software. I rooted it with Z4 and flashed TNT lite 4.40. I am having f/c all the time and it freezes just about the same. I have tried to watch movies on it but am unable to hear sound.
Ist it the apps or possably the flash? Again I'm new to this stuff if anybody could help.
Also what is the difference when you root with Z4 than with anyother? Can I flash other roms like vegan if I have already flashed TNT?

Yep. Just make sure you wipe data and cash. Were you getting the process.acore fc? If so that is a known and easily fixable solution. Did you ever use cwm to fix permissions? That really hrlps with fcs
Im not sure what process.acore or cwm.....Im really green at this, first time doing it

You don't need cwm, at least not yet. Backup the data you care about, then do a data wipe via Settings -- Security -- Factory Restore (and let it reboot).

I am new to all this too..but i will take a shot....
Do you know what version you had before you went to TNT Lite?
You could try a factory reset (settings->security) to see if it fixes your problems.
Unless you were on the most recent update of the stock ROM version (build 4349) and you dont care about it in the near future, the usual way to flash a new ROM was using ClockworkMod (cwm)
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=865245
However with the new update (4349) things are in a flux right now, cwm is not the best thing to use if you are on an older stock rom, and if you want to install 4349 at some point. Read through the stickies and familiarize yourself with everything that is going on.
youtube videos by ehunyadi are also a good source of information.
