In the settings under the OTA, then apps there are inverted apps and aosp, My question is can i just download these and then zip them. will they work with this rom since its under the OTA?
Most that won't work have a message stating that they won't work.

Hi I just recently unlocked and rooted my rezound and am looking to install a custom rom. There are so many ICS roms out there and I find it hard to sort through them and find the best one. I would like to know: Which ICS Rom is the most stable, which ICS Rom is de-sensed the most, if the rom updates the mainversion, and which ICS kernel is the best (and where to download it. Thank you for your help!
All the Devs list bugs in the first post of the from thread so read that carefully before flashing anything.
For stable....I would run Clean Rom ICS by Scrosler or Nils Business ICS if you want full-sense stable along with a bit of the theming done.
As for Senseless...I have been running NewtoRoots Senseless and it has been running awesome for me. The main issue is inability of sending/receiving MMS but I'm using GOsms in the meantime until that is fixed. One of the users packaged the rom to flash the kernel as well if you're not all that comfortable using fast boot right now. In this post http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=22435498
Most of the ICS roms will update your main version unless you flash the kernel (boot.king) via fastboot. There is a how to in the Dev section to revise you main version if you wish to go back to GB.

Thanks for your help! I was actually considering flashing newtoroot's senseless, but just wanted to see if any other roms were any good as well. I will probably flash senseless tomorrow. So when I download the rom, it will automatically flash the kernel, right?

Actually most if not all all the devs have changed the main version to the OTA version number.

Yes they will supply the kernel also. Some devs include it in the rom zip, others have it as a seperate dowload. You wil have to read the first couple posts in the thread to see what it says. Follow the directions of the dev is the best advice.

Just being safe about the main version thing. People tend to get all wild over it even though there is an easy fix for it but thank u for pointing that out
I have a VZW Razr Maxx. Wondering if there is a stock ICS ROM that has been rooted, stripped of all VZW/Motorola crap and deodexed?
Thanks!
I'd like that too. I can't ever seem to find a from that hasn't been over done. Just want a plain vanilla ICS rom.

This one isn't vanilla stock but I like it so far:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1745928
I think it may also be the only one rooted, stripped, deodexed custom ICS ROM right now that does not mess around with the kernel. I like the stock kernels + customized/stripped apps because I do not need custom kernel features like OC but absolutely hate most wireless-provider/manufacturer apps/customizations. Moto Blur is plain awful and combined with all the crappola that Verizon dishes out, I am glad to have the Spyder ROM.
Try to check on droidhive (there is a lot more cdma activity there compared to xda where is focused more on gsm)

Thanks for the pointer. I looked and found only one non-CM9/AOKP ROm over there:
http://www.droidhive.com/forums/index.php?/topic/1176-rom-droidrazr-ics404-simplexrom-v101-712012/
So the counter for stock kernel + Rooted, stripped, deodexed ROMs stands at two:
Black Widow Ics-6.16.214.spyder.deodex (includes leaked .214 update)
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1745928
Simplexrom-v1.0.1 (based on OTA .211 update)
http://www.droidhive.com/forums/index.php?/topic/1176-rom-droidrazr-ics404-simplexrom-v101-712012/
Both need SafeStrap 2.00 prior to installation.
i got my sgh i777 galaxy s2 at&t
its rooted running resurecttion remix rom 3.0.5 ported from i9100
is it possible to flash a gingerbread rom even though the system is not gingerbread?,
or would i have to downgrade or something back to 2.3.6?
flash ICS aokp 7.3 by task, then flash the latest JB. You'll beer happier than a pig in a swallow!
(Ok, maybe you want gb back... you should be able to flash a gb ROM via CWM no problems) [someone smack me if I'm wrong!]

When you flash a Gingerbread ROM, don't forget to flash a GB kernel as well if the ROM doesn't include one.

I actually have no idea, I just thought it would be better to include that info just in case. There's only two GB kernels out there anyway and only one GB custom ROM that really gets much use/support nowadays (Unoriginal), so I figured that it didn't include one, but I honestly have no idea.
I would suggest getting phone bricker ( ICS ) I like it much better and as for downgrading no I have flashed many a different rooms from gb to ics to job and back again with out any problem but as stated above make sure the kernel matches I am using siyah latest for phone bricker comes with cwm touch recovery a very nice addition

Lol you figured it didn't? ALL custom roms flash a kernel with them.

I've flashed different roms from gb to jb but kept coming back to AOKP. It's much more feature rich than the other ones I've tried. Like being able to hold the back key to kill the current task. And adjusting the ms delay required to rotate the screen and combining the widgets selection screen so that a widget with multiple options will act like a directory which shows more when clicked on rather than just having a huge running list. The AOKP JB doesn't have as many custom features as it's ICS predecessor but that's because it's so new. It will eventually. But JB is a huge improvement over GB so I wouldn't consider flashing anything gb and just go to JB or ICS. And JB runs much more smoothly and is more responsive than ICS.

And no downgrading or upgrading in any certain sequence is needed. All of the roms I've tried come with a kernel with cwm. If the gb kernel you have doesn't have cwm then you can find one in the developers section flash it, then you'll be able to flash any of the other roms too. But don't forget to do a full wipe when switching to different roms. Also highly recommended to buy the titanium pro app as it will restore your apps easily including their data.
You'll notice that the developers section will list just kernels too. So while each rom will have a kernel with it you can choose to flash a different kernel based on how you will use the phone. So you'll want to read about them to find the one that best fits your needs. For example I've used the Fluxxi kernel for AOKP because it allows for custom auto brightness level settings. The AOKP JB comes with Fluxxi as it's packaged kernel now.

Why would you need back to kill. ICS and jb handle task killing pretty well and killing the task is not good

I keep hearing about the flapjax rom or something, cant find it. I dont think im spelling it right. Where is it? Is it very stable? Looking for the MOST stable rom with good language keyboard support for my mom. She doesnt need all the cool features, might even go with stock but if there's a stock jellybean that's really stable and has a good pack of keyboard languages id love to hear it.
If you want stable, go for an ICS ROM. The devs have done amazing work on the JB ROMs but unfortunately, there are some things that simply can't be done until official drivers and kernel sources are available from Samsung.

Yeah I think Ill do that. Its not like my mom will know the difference between ICS and jB. Rather have it work 100% than 90% for her.
Any recommendations for a really stable ICS almost like factory stock other than PA and avatar? I tried to download the 4.0.4 tmobile stock rom but the download link is dead and when I odin the file from samfirmware or whatever it will cause it to freeze on boot. Stock ICS would be fine with me.

Flappjaxxx is an awesome dev that used to be here on XDA. He is no longer here which we don't need to discuss why that is. If you use google you can most likely find his roms fairly easily. I suggest yuo stick with a stock ATT based rom is you want solid performance with out all the bells and whistles. You can find some things here in the dev section or on flapps site if you happen to find that

Like Stock as in TouchWiz or like Stock as in AOSP?
If you mean as in Samsung Galaxy Note stock TouchWiz, then you could try Novena.

touchwiz. AOSP is going to be more prone to bugs and issues than a rom that was made by samsung for the note
You can find flapps rom on goomanager,I haven't used anything but his since mash ,best roms and kernels

Just got my Thunderbolt, and it came with Liquid Gingerbread v3.2. How difficult would it be to get this thing to ICS, preferably Santod's de-bloated ROM or something similar?
I've read a bunch of the noob articles but was wondering what you guys thought. My goal is to get the newest available stable version of ICS on my Thunderbolt, without junk, and as smooth as possible.
Really don't care about if I have Sense or not - or should I? Do you guys like it?
Would you guys recommend Santod's debloated ROM?
Or is there a comparable Liquid Smooth ROM for ICS?
And has anyone gotten ICS 4.1 or 4.2 on the Thunderbolt?
Sorry if I'm walking on well-worn ground, but the pure amount of different ROMs and stuff around here is pretty overwhelming and I don't want to **** up my new Thunderbolt because I was too dumb to ask the advice of the experts.
Thanks guys.
4.1 and 4.2 are both jellybean and that isn't available for the bolt yet. You should probably try out the stock deodexed debloated version. If that doesn't tickle your fancy try unsense. Its stable and very close to aosp in the design.

Are there any particular special steps that I need to take? Since I'm already on Liquid Smooth, do I need go to to stock, update to ICS, THEN install the debloated version? Or can I go straight from where I am to Santod's ROM? I'd love a basic 1-2-3 set of instructions, something simple like
1. Install Revolution
2. Update radios with Revolution or Thunderbolt Tool
3. Download Santod's ROM
4. Put it on an SD card
5. Install it via Revolution
...or something! This is my first experience with rooting (ok, I rooted my girlfriend's Kindle Fire, but that was super simple).
Just read the first post and and follow the instructions listed there. I would suggest that you change from clockwork mod recovery, which your phone probably has, to 4ext. Issues are known to arise from using it since it is extremely outdated.
