I've been having trouble with the sd card in my new RAZR. Just this morning I noticed that I had a new notification "Blank SD Card - SD card blank or has unsupported filesystem."
If I clicked the notification it gave me the option to format but it would never format the card. I was still able to mount the drive to my pc so I made a backup of all the files on the card to my computer.
I did quite a bit of searching on the forum and eventually came across a post that said to try formatting the card with this utility:
https://www.sdcard.org/downloads/formatter_3/
After I did a quick format with SD Formatter 3.1 I then noticed a new notification "Damaged internal storage - Storage damaged. You may have to reformat it."
Now I'm still able to mount the sd card on my pc via the phone but windows doesn't recognize any disk in the drive. I get this error "There is no disk in drive X. Insert a disk, and then try again."
Has anyone had this issue? Any idea what causes it and how to resolve it? At this point, I have a full backup of the contents, so I'm only concerned with resolving the sd card issues and making the notifications disappear.
Thanks
I had this issue, removed as card and blew into the slot and replaced the card, haven't had it happen again so far.

Yeah, I've powered down the phone, removed the card, replaced it and powered back on but I still have the same errors.
Called Verizon and they told me to go to one of their stores to see if swapping out a new SD Card would fix it. Hopefully the problem doesn't happen again.
Stopped by the Verizon store and they swapped out a new SD card. The "Blank SD Card - SD card blank or has unsupported filesystem" error went away but I still had the "Damaged internal storage - Storage damaged. You may have to reformat it" error. This time it allowed me to format the internal storage.
So it turns out that the SD card was completely hosed and the external SD card got corrupted, but after the format was resolved.
I'm still not sure what caused this but I hope it's not something regular as I have had the phone less than a week.
Every time i got a problem with any external device, like sd card, I use this powerfull tool Aconis Disk Director. It has a lot of options that maybe solve you problem.
I've been seeing this too. How do they swap out the internal sd?
First of all, I am very aware this has been asked many times and will be asked many times after this. I have read MANY threads both here and elsewhere and have never seen a definitive answer (which may not exist)...
My phone has started telling me about once per day that my exernal sd card may be damaged and unmounting it. If I reboot, it works fine until the next time it decides to tell me that again. I have checked it several times with Check Disk on Windows and it never finds any problems. I am currently using a SanDisk 64GB class 10 card purchased off Amazon. Yesterday, I copied everything off the card, completely formatted it (not the quick format and in the required Fat32 format) using the GUI version of Fat32format and copied everything back to the card. Both before and after formatting, Check Disk found no issues. Today, I received a notification that my SD card had unexpectedly been removed (it had not). A few seconds later I received notification that my SD card may be damaged and may need to be formatted. How in the hell Android can tell me that a SD card is corrupt after it already told me that it was no longer in my phone is a mystery to me...
This is the second time I started experiencing this issue. The first time was with a 32GB class 4 SanDisk card that I think WAS becoming corrupt because Check Disk would find issues with that card, so I ended up replacing it with the card I am using now (less than 2 months ago). So... is my card failing? Or is there any reason that Android would report an SD card damaged when it is not?
I would really prefer if the card was failing, because then I would at least know how to fix the issue (get a new card). However, I am not willing to get a new sd card every couple months just because Android has sd card issues. The only recent (major) changes I have made to my phone before this issue started up again was installing the V6 SuperCharger script and changing from Busybox v1.20.0 to Busybox v1.20.2. I am likely going to remove those and see if this clears up, but is there a reason that Android would be falsely reporting a sd card as damaged or is it a sure sign of a failing card?

Mostly happens when the SD card is not what it says, it is, (like imitations) , anyway here is some insight
ive been using my gs2 for 11 months and a 2 GB sd card along with it. Lately there is been weird issue with the sd card .The sd card is unmounted automatically and at random times displaying the message "sd card unexpectedly removed " in the notification bar.Though it can be mounted again after removing the battery and putting the sd card back in the phone again. What could be the problem?? is it with sd card?? the sd card slot?? the firmware?? please help..

Did u change anything? Kernel, Rom, Firmware version?
U can try to copy all data from sd card to PC, format it and then copy data back to sd card.
Maybe this will fix it. If not it seems to be a prob with sd card itself (Hardware)
CHEERS
yeah I had used many kernels ROMS .etc etc but reverted back everything to stock and unrooted
So i bought this 32 GB memory card, it was working fine and i filled up around 20 to 25 GB on it. Yesterday all of a sudden, the phone couldn't read it anymore i tried it on other device as well, same thing. The phone shows me a notification saying "Blank SD Card, SD card blank or has unsupported filesystem." When i press on it, it tells me "Are you sure you want to format the SD card? All data on your card will be lost" i press on format, but still nothing happens it just goes through another SD card check and shows the same thing all over again. I've been using this card for a month now and i haven't faced any problems at all. I really hope i could recover my data because i had a lot of travel photos on it. Any help would be greatly appreciated, and thank you for spending some time reading this
One last thing, when i connect it to the computer via SD card reader or my phone itself, it doesn't show up on my phone's drive. And the SD card reader won't even show up.
I have a 64gb Sandisk Ultra SDXC card formatted in exFAT. I had been using the card in my NOTE 2 with no issues. I normally keep all of my movies, music, emulators, and ROMs on it so I can keep space free on my phone. This morning I got my phone setup the way that I wanted it and I decided to install the SD card into the new phone. Everything seemed to go okay, I got a message telling me that it was preparing the card, but after the message disappeared, the SD card was not recognized. There were no error messages regarding the card, it simply did not show any additional storage on the phone and all options regarding the card with exception to "Mount SD Card" and "Format SD Card" were not accessible.
I took ejected the card and formatted it to NTFS to see if that would make a difference and when I reinserted it into the (M8), it recognized it as a blank SD card that was not in the proper format. It prompted me to format the card while still installed in the device, which it did without error. After the format was complete I received the same "Preparing SD Card" message that I received before, but after the message disappeared, the card still didn't show up as additional storage.
Through a root browser I have the option to enter extSD, but nothing I put on the card is there. I then took the card back out, installed it into my Note 2 and it worked with no problems at all. Finally I ejected the card, reinstalled it in the (M8) again, it gives me the same prompt as before, but after the message disappears the additional storage does not show up and all options with exception to "Mount SD Card" and "Format SD Card" are inaccessible once again.
I have tried the fix found here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2700310 to no avail.
Does anyone have any ideas why this might be happening and is there any way that I can solve the problem?

If you have a USB card reader, try formatting the card as FAT32 with your computer.
I believe most cards come pre-formatted as FAT32 by default. I've always just put the cards in my Android devices without any formatting, and they work just fine.
Not sure why the device's default format didn't work, but possibly formatting on a computer will get it working.
It's possible that SD may be dying.
I had a 32gb card that a friend left with me to fill with movies/etc, but since I wasnt going to see them for a while, I decided to use it with my old LGOG. Not 3 days later, I get what you described, and now the card isnt even seen by Windows.
Even with formatting the card, it would work again for a few minutes, but as soon as I tried copying more than ~3 gigs, the card would go corrupt again.
SD cards dont last forever yo.

I just tried it out a few minutes ago. I don't know why, but it's working perfectly fine in Windows, a Note 2, S3, and an S5. I have no idea what's going on, but no matter what I try, nothing makes it work on this phone.

I was able to get the card formatted form exFAT to FAT32 and it looked like it was going to work, same with NTFS. I inserted it into the phone, waited for it to prepare the card and this time I got a message telling me that the SD Card was damaged, but I could format it in the phone. I followed the instructions, just as I had before, it went through it's thing, got to the part where it attempted to mount the card, appeared as though it was going to mount, and then nothing, just like with everything else. I have no idea what's going on.
I ran some tools on it and the card appears to be in good condition, so I have no idea what to do. I don't know if it's the phone, or if it is the card. I'm thinking about buying a 128gb card, but I'm afraid if I do, I'm going to find myself in the exact same position that I'm in now and out a lot of money to boot.
I'm loosing my mind with this thing.
Surely you must know someone that has a MicroSD card you can try. Trying another would pretty much eliminate the card as being the issue (and possibly the card tray or similar component on the phone). I have at least 2 "spare" MicroSD cards laying around.
I had a similar problem few weeks ago and I did format my 64gb card with GUIFORMAT on my win 7 PC and since then no more problem. Here is the link: http://www.realmodscene.com/index.php?/topic/323-gui-format-fat32-drive-formatter/
Thank you. I'll give it a shot right now.

You, sir, just won all my Internets. I don't know what it was about that app, but it worked like a champ the first time around. I don't get it either. I had used so many tools to get it to FAT32, but this one did the trick. I formatted the card, inserted it...was totally waiting for it to not work, and I noticed "Unmount SD Card". I read it and thought "hmmm, that's not right", lol. Then it dawned on me that it worked. Copying folders over to it now. Thanks so much, bud. I really owe you one.

Nice. I've heard that the native Windows formatting tool is not the best (although its always worked fine for me), so this might be one of those instances.

Thanks. I had the same problem with a brand new 128GB card with only this phone (HTC One E8 Dual). Until I found this. So far working like a charm. You ARE a star.
