So i was using not roam control the other day and i live in Ohio, i noticed it said i was roaming on revol not Verizon which i always assumed, because i didn't know revol had it's own towers which i guess they do. does any body know of a way to choose your roaming carrier through an app or a hack of some kind. Also i have seen people use 3g data roaming on Verizon with a Manual prl update but i don't know how to manually update the prl files on the photon. Or if there is an easier way to do it to get 3g data roaming.

There is an app vaulted roam control but it was pulled from market. ... O couldn't purchase license out I'd be using it

The app does let you force roam you can't pick your roaming carrier though. You can go to automatic but gone gets you back on the right network faster then just change back to automatic in the settings menu.

I keep hitting roam only on widget and in app when it jumps to us cellular tower and I drop to 1x and no bars.... Gotta turn off and restart my phone to get back to roaming

maybe. How do you tell? Or maybe app is slow to respond? Would my prl have anything to do with it? I font even think my prl is up to date where its supposed to be

roam control does not work on the electrify! so don't bother with it.

you edit the prl manually you need to run the stock rom and need QPST on a windoze machine. there's some info in another forum about obtaining the subsidy lock code that you will probably need to be able to do this. i'm feeling to lazy to look right now but it's out there.

I couldn't get refund and nobody answers emails too so I gave up. The thing is this app works only in area where sprint has agreement with other providers and for me in Chicago area no such thing that's why it doesn't work.

On my Moment, there was a Verizon force PRL that you could flash via CWM. I'll check to see if it was phone specific because I'm pretty sure the Moment folks 'borrowed' it from an HTC forum.

I've never seen a cwm flashable prl. I don't see how that's possible. Maybe I'm wrong. Send me a link or more info if it does work.

There is a force roam mod floating around here somewhere. You'd better be careful playing with stuff though, Sprint is getting pretty gung ho about offing contracts for too much data roaming.

You can force your phone to roam by using a verizon PRL but Sprint will drop you after awhile

2nd both the airave and force roam app.
I would laugh if Sprint dropped me for roaming as I have 8 lines on my account plus the airave and have been with Sprint for over 10 years. (Ask the big three how laying off their customers is working out for them)
Try to make sure that you do not pay for the airave and make all the other Sprinters at work at least take you to lunch before you let them use it.

Like stated earlier, using the 00001 Verizon prl constantly is a bad idea if you want to stay with sprint.

The 1115 PRL is a Sprint PRL.
The only VZW PRL we can use on our phones is 0001.

Mine has the latest updated - but EVERY time I check in the "Help" section of sprint zone it keeps telling me there is a profile or prl update needed.. even after I update everything. Any clue as to why? Ever since I received this phone I've had data connection and mobile IP registration response errors..
anyone else have this issue ?? I'm currently having Sprint check the tower (who knows if they actually will..) due to slow/almost nonexistent data service.
Well sprint canceled my account for roaming using to much data. I don't know why? I have heard of people getting canceled because of using verizon prl but I have never I have been using 12117. They will not turn it back on I have tried everything so I have to have my mom add me a phone this sucks. So watch out.

Did you force roam or roam alot? Show us your data usage for last month. I've been on corporate prl's since the evo 4g and I'm good still. I rarely roam though and I'm on wifi when I'm at home.

You've got to keep track of your roaming regardless. I've gotten pretty high up on roaming some months just from using a normal PRL. The corporate PRLs, more so. I'm sorry to hear that you had that happen to you though.

They did the Same to me but i also used 5gb of roaming. Now i am trying to sell my EVO3d and shift. I switched to att and love my Samsung note and i get 5 gb per line not to bad i just have to slow down a little.

I got a formal letter from Sprint a few months back stating that if my data roaming continued they'd cancel my account.
I was using the 11115 PRL + the Force Roam option I added in Warm TwoPointThree. About 2gb of data roaming a month. (98% of my data was roaming)
I have since stopped force roaming..
data roaming......that is something that seems the trend here.
i assume they ALWAYS warn before canceling right?

I never seen my phone go to roam. I used 11115 on my EVO 4G also. I don't know how much I was using I will try and find out. It kinda worked out my bill was like 150 amonth and now its only 60 to add 2 phones to my moms. And they wiped out my bill but still a pain in the ass.

No, they don't charge for roaming. Unless you are international roaming, then that is different.

They will charge you for voice roaming. I had that happen to me.
I dont know if I exactly get the reason to use those other PRL?

I've never been charged for Voice Roaming within the USA.

Whoa, this whole time I thought they did charge you. I stayed in a cabin in North Carolina once where I had no signal and I disabled my roaming in fear I would get a heavy bill when I got back. Thank you for the heads up.
If you get a voice roam charge call and they will wipe it no questions asked. They blabbed something about its an issue with their billing. Yep sure...

How much did you use?
I bought there roam control app to use on my electrify(rebadged photon) only the home works. force roam just goes to auto. I guess when I got it, thought it worked cuz the towers were good that night andi stayed roaming on vzw towers. is there an app to force roam on u.s. cellular?..... if someone pulled this off I Witold repay for the app!

yes, u r correct. I roam off verizon towers most of the time, but sometimes I get a wiff of us cellular tower signal, then I go from full service and 3g at -79db to 1x and no bars at -119db

Forced roaming on specific carriers sounds like a cool idea.
I want to make my u.s. cellular device stay on verizon towers when I'm home or I have no signal.... 1x and no bars @ -119db then when it finally switches to roaming... on vzw towers 3g, full bars at -79 db

I'm in an area with decent Verizon coverage and I force roaming and all I get is 0-1 bars of 1X. Is there a trick to getting 3G while roaming?

You would need to flash a Verizon prl and like its been mentioned, not a good idea. Sprint throttles first, send a polite warning and then terminate if you continue to roam.
I was more talking a setting I'm in PA hunting and I know Verizon gets good service here. If we're supposed to be roaming on Verizon, why do I get nothing?

Like he said, you'll need to manually install a Verizon prl to do it But in all seriousness, I wouldn't try it... Once upon a time I tried a mod to force Verizon roaming on my old HTC Hero and promptly got a letter from Sprint less than a week later. It's just not a smart thing to do.
