Because of the constant Sense reloads I downloaded and am using the Nova launcher.
While I like it a lot, the one thing I miss is the HTC photo gallery. I'm not finding anything out there that matches it. What I am looking for is a full screen widget for one of the home screens that shows all of the photos from your device just as the HTC gallery/album does. What I have seen out there either is an app you have to activated before you get to the album or a widget where you have to go in and select which photos you want to show on the screen.
Any help?
I'm more curious why you were getting sense reloads. I'm not having any issue like that at all, and haven't seen it reported on the mikmik.

Well, in general Sense has had reloading troubles across platforms for about a year or so depending on the device and the update where it seems to have started:
http://androidforums.com/evo-shift-support-troubleshooting/401932-htc-sense-crash-loading-issue.html
http://androidforums.com/htc-one-x/529430-sense-keeps-crashing.html

http://www.htcforums.com/sensation/8907-htc-sense-ui-3-0-keeps-closing-reloading.html
HTC's "community" forum had a number of threads about it which seem to have been deleted:
http://community.htc.com/na/msgs/default.aspx?MessageID=9
Specifically with the EVO LTE:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=26735055
http://forums.androidcentral.com/htc-evo-4g-lte/175849-loading.html
http://webcache.googleusercontent.com/search?q=cache:EN59fnMbYDEJ:androidforums.com/htc-evo-4g-lte/554851-sense-crashing-restarting-dont-reset-without-checking-google-wallet.html+htc+sense+%22loading%22+evo+lte&cd=15&hl=en&ct=clnk&gl=us&client=firefox-a
This is also a problem on the One X:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/archive/index.php/t-1601619.html
So, while perhaps not for all, it is an issue. It may depend on what app you are leaving to get back to the home page (seems to happen every time with Chrome) or how many apps "open" or how much memory being used, or who knows... And as you can see from the threads, there have been lots of suggestions and supposed "solutions" which don't seem to solve and sure didn't for me. Got so bad that started considering taking the LTE back before the 14 days was up. But Nova solved this problem. Not only do i like the launcher, there have been no loading/reloading"resets since I installed it.
And, in any case, I find I like the NOVA launcher and plan to stick with it at least until we have fully functional stable ROMs and I am fairly certain there wont be any major OTA updates (one hearsay post I saw suggested a recent update to the International One X helped the reload issue but can't find a confirmation).
Which brings me back to the ONE thing I did like about Sense that I cant seem to replicate, a photo gallery that accesses all of your pics and displays them all the time on one of the home screens, just like the HTC Gallery does.
Anybody????
So, is this impossible to do?
I would like to know if this is at all possible.

I just installed quickpic and it doesn't have a widget that I can find.
But, I live what it does with the burst mode shots, gives them their own folder and unpacks them. Nice. I hadn't tried quickpic on this device yet.

I just got a 16GB WiFi HTC Flyer. It's on stock GB 2.3.3 and using Sense 2.1 for tablet. I like to use live wallpapers, and I'm certain that the flyer can handle them, but when I swipe back and forth through homescreens, the wallpaper seems to pause in between screens. I don't know if this is because of Sense or if it's perfectly normal. Anyone else experience this problem and if so how did you fix it?
Mine too, evo 3d works fine.

I believe that this is a sense issue. If you have another launcher running and a live wallpaper the transition is smooth.
Out of curiosity, what LWP are you using?

I thought it may have something to do with Sense as well. I used launcher pro and tested the Sense photo blur LWP and the transition was smooth. I hope this issue is addressed in an update. It's not a huge deal but it does take away from the user experience.

I agree, its very hard not to notice it.
I believe it's because in newer versions of Sense (I think from 3.0 and above) there is a problem with the launcher can't detect the transitions or the screens' positions or something like that..
There are some wallpapers that say in the info part "not compatible with sense 3 devices"
Even in normal wallpapers you can notice that when you move from screen to another, the wallpaper remains still and doesn't show more of if you understand what i mean

Is there any way to disable Sense if I'm using Nova or another 3rd-party launcher? I still have Sense running in the background eating up resources even though I'm not using it... ugh.
No sir.... Best bet is to flash the somesense Rom and use a custom launcher. The only other way to do it is through an aosp Rom. Currently we have a pretty smooth cm9 in the dev section, but it doesn't have a few vital things working yet

You can freeze our uninstall the sense launcher along with any apps/widgets you don't use if you have a third party launcher installed. I've done this. I wouldn't go uninstalling things without knowing what it is first.

That requires root I assume?
Yes and a lot of research as you might disable a vital component on accident and then you have to really flash a new Rom.

Yes, to freeze sense and other widgets u need to root. Wish u didn't. Hate having to give up twc tv on phone and renting movies thru google play. But I guess torrents and better multitasking will make up for it...
Sent from my EVO using XDA
As stated above, you must be rooted to do this stuff, but in case you wanted to know...
I uninstalled just about every sense element I could find in TitaniumBackup and use Apex launcher in place of the stock one. Interestingly, I was pleasantly surprised to find that the stock ICS lockscreen popped up after uninstalling the sense lockscreen, so I don't have to run any 3rd party LS app. Also I have uninstalled the stock browser and clock, replacing them with the apks I pulled from CM9, mostly because I like the look and feel a little better, but also sense alarm wouldn't display on the ICS LS--CM9 alarm does. I had the CM9 message app on my LTE also, but found I was unable to send or receive MMS. I didn't really investigate too much further to try to get it working and I don't know if it is even possible. EX Dialer offers a more appealing phone app than does the sense version as far as I'm concerned.
There are ways to make your phone look differently, but as you said sense eats up the background, and I feel the CM9 apps run a little lighter. I enjoy a much better experience without the Sense stuff as it feels a little closer to AOSP now.
Good luck should you decide to try some of the suggestions, and remember, always always have a backup.
How did you remove the location icon?

What kind of vital things? Is it stable enought to use as a daily?
The part of sense that is still running is the 35MB shell or so of basic sense functionality throughout the whole phone.
You're not able to get rid of that, but if you use another launcher you already not loading up the launcher portion of sense. If you used the sense launcher, you'd see Sense go up to over 100MB, since the basic sense of 35 + the launcher of about 70 something will kick you over 100MB. So the fact that it still sits in the 30s shows you're not using the launcher, but Apex or Nova or whatever is probably taking up 50-70MB itself.
Right, so really no win unless you root and disable... thanks for the input all.

I bought SGSIII earlier today, and I already miss features of HTC Sense. Touchwiz dialer sucks. Is there anything I can download from Play with Snese look and feel?
Also Touchwiz doesn't have a space saving 4x1 clock/weather widget. I install one from Beatiful Widgets, but it is not as good as the HTC one.
I want to ask the other HTC refugees, what are your coping strategies?
I'm coming from the OG Evo, but I never liked Sense much to begin with. I used MIUI on my Evo and plan to do the same once a MIUI build is released for this phone. Right now, I'm not having too many problems coping, but I don't plan on keeping TW any longer than necessary. My biggest issue right now for every day use is the lack of a convenient brightness slider, but that should be fixed whenever the next OTA happens.

I never liked HTC Sense, I can never get used to it. I used either MIUI or CM rom. Also came from og htc evo as well. Touchwiz is a much better experience than HTC Sense imo... but I rather use AOSP.
HTC dialer was so good I didn't even program speed dials. Just typing 2-3 numbers or letters of a name would instantly bring the right contact. And they had Facebook picture integration (at least in GB ROMs). I also miss the short haptic buzz when a call was connected.

I use go launcher ex with all the go widgets all with sense theme. As far as dialer I use go contacts with dark theme. Not exactly sense look but I find it more useful as you can swipe to go from dialer to contacts and to favorites.

I have been using go launcher as well for one sole reason; the contacts widget. I like having a widget for direct calls. I hate how when you go to contacts or logs, to press on a name and it takes you to another menu which you have to choose either call or text. Sure you can slide to direct call but I just want to press and it calls immediately. Something so simple that I wish was an option in settings.
Guys, thanks for advise, Go launcher is way better than the stock one.

I too was was a Die-hard HTC Sense fan. However, TW 5 have improved so much I do not miss my HTC Amaze 4G. Whenever a contact is on your screen like SMS, Call log, etc, just put the phone to your ear and it will automatically dial the number for that contact.

Anything new takes a little time to get used to. I think, if.you stick with it, you'll find TW to give you a more simplified, "closer to stock ICS" experience. Sure, its not stock ICS and Samsung likes to add a lot of color, but IMHO Sense uses too many useless transitions and extra tabs and extra steps...run on sentence but you get the point. There are plenty of widget alternatives, I personally like Fancy Widgets. For alternative launchers, Nova is nice.

Have you tried go contacts? That comes with a dialer that works just like the sense one. Btw, touxhwiz dialer should show your fb contact pics. Not sure why yours isn't. You need to sync with the app, not the built in fb sync.

I'm sure someone has already tried it, but what about titanium backups of HTC Sense apps, would those install on this phone? Dialer, etc.
I too miss Sense... I miss it already even though i forced my self to a vanila rom on my desire for a month before i got my gs3
Got 3 years to get over it! LOL
I am also a convert to TW. I initially missed the Sense but after I learned the shortcuts built into TW dialer, I prefer it. Make sure you read the tips that pop up and not just close them without reading. The swipe to call or text is a pretty cool feature I think.

Sense gives me headache. Too old its colors are stressful. Touchwiz has vivid colors and not jist black and white
Hahah I thought I was the only one who preferred Sense.
I use GoLauncher for all my Launching needs on both this S3 and my original Evo.
But Sense's Contact app just blows this and every 3rd party away. I loved the auto-merge features, the integrated facebook/twitter/picassa/messaging by contact.. and it just looked nice.
The closest I've found for the contacts is an app called "ConTapps" which does the same integration with Facebook/Twitter/LinkedIn, etc.. (In fact I think it does a better job than sense)... however it does not have a nice way to navigate via groups, all your contacts are one big list, and duplicates must be manually 'merged' (Dups due to facebook,twitter,etc.. my google contacts are VERY clean online in the cloud).
As for a Dialer... Right now I'm using "aTakePhone". I've used it since my old Palm Centro, then my Evo, and now my S3.. It doesn't appear that there's been much updates to handle the S3's screen resolution (small gaps on the edges of the dialer) but feature wise it has everything you'd want in a dialer, including a nice scrolling 'quick bar' on the dialpad menu. You can even customize the searching parameters so it won't search till you've placed X # of letters, searching within company names, etc...

I really miss the HTC contacts app... *cry*.
Hey guys! I've recently started using Fourth Bar Jellybean (and by far the most impressive desensed ROM yet), however there are a few bugs I've noticed that desensed ROMs all tend to have and I was wondering if there would be any fixes for the following:
Google Play music turns the wallpaper on the lockscreen black and doesn't show any music controls
HTCLinkifyDispatcher.apk tends to screw things up. For instance, if I click a link to YouTube it will take me to the browser page instead of the YouTube app. If you delete or rename HTCLinkifyDispatcher this fixes the issue, however in chat clients such as imo, IM+, or Google Talk, clicking a link will crash the app.
Those are the most prominent bugs that I can think off right off the top of my head. Like I said, Fourth Bar Jellybean did a REALLY fantastic job of desensing the ROM, but a couple of HTC Sense bugs still remain.
Let me know what you guys think - is there a fix for any of this?
Thanks!
If Rom devs changed their base to a telus base the link issue would be fixed all round without the need to modify anything, the Google music part I'm not sure of since I don't use it.

I think the google music doing that has something to do with the theme. It's not playing nice I'm most likely a bug. I remember flashing a theme and some music controls weren't showing up but they were there since I knew where they were I clicked. Are yours still function?

This thing though is that it's not really a theme, I think it's an issue with the lockscreen itself. Come to think of it, it seems like EclipzeRemix got his to work in his Project Butter ROM. Maybe the apk can be extracted from it and reflashed/replaced in Fourth Bar?

It's worth a shot, don't ya think? Better to try and fail that to sit doing nothing until your rom dev fixes the issue, though I do think it may be a system issue, tried updating the app itself?
Hey all,
I recently downloaded an app called 3D PARALLAX BACKGROUND.
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.vinwap.parallaxwallpaper
Seemed like a cool and interesting thing, much like the new iOS feature. Background looked pretty awesome too once I was done installing...
Only problem is, it changed my lock screen to something else (I guess a default within the program) and no matter what I do, I can't change it back to stock.
I have tried uninstalling the app, restarting the device, changing lockscreen to every stock lockscreen available, etc but it still won't change back.
Super weird and it seems that I am the only person that has had this problem. I looked through the app reviews and nobody mentions it. Wondering if it's an HTC One problem... Running 4.2.2 Android Revolution 12.0
Does anyone have any suggestions? I have attached a screenshot of the lockscreen in question. It's a nice looking one at least, but I am not a huge fan of the functionality and I would rather have a 12-hour clock than a 24-hour one...
TL;DR App changed lockscreen, can't get the stock one back.
