I doubt your kernel has anything to do with it because Siyah's kernel does support both OC and UC. Do you have any profiles that have a maximum of 1200Mhz instead of 1000Mhz? Those could be kicking in even when you don't want them to if you aren't careful.
Sent from my SGH-I777 using XDA

Nope I'm not using any profiles. Although in CWM in kernel specific options I did select performance mode if that has any thing to do with it

Try deselecting that option or selecting a different one. I don't have a ton of experience with Siyah, but a performance mode sounds to me like it will default to the maximum CPU speed. Which on the SGH-I777 is 1200Mhz, stock.

Ok I will try that out

Performance is a Governor for the CPU that sets it to Max frequency . That's what its FOR. So its doing what its supposed to. As previously stated you have to switch to a different governor in order to underclock.

I'm not talking about the governor in CWM there is a option for default, battery and performance
Sent from my SGH-I777 using xda premium

No, he doesn't mean anything to do with CWM. When you're selecting or switching to a governor, a list comes up and depending on the governor, your CPU will behave a certain way. If the maximum is set at 1200Mhz and is going to that speed when you have performance governor on, that's what is supposed to happen.

Uninstall any other clocking apps and clear application data (manage applications) for SetCPU.
Sent from my Galaxy S2

Change your governer to something other than lulzactive.
lulzactive forces your CPU at a certain rate. Thus, the "active". and the "lulz" on my end.

+1 for SetCPU
frrst of all ever developer i have came across talks about using set cpu and it has specific version for xda community for free )try and top that )
2nd it has much more options then just over/under clocking and over/under volting.
3rd i havent found any problems with it yet so dont look for any other alternatives yet so hope this helps u with decision making.

SetCpu pwns.
-Yo momma's so stupid she finds iOS complicated.-
I like setCPU but when I slide the max cpu to 1000 and I reopen setcpu it jumps to 1300... I tried CPU tuner today and it has scaling and gives you a ton of option settings. I going to try it out for a while.
Im using no-frills

I have tried both of those, but I have had better results and prefer the interface and options of System Tuner

Tegrak settings for i777?

I've been using SetCPU for profiles, OC, and UV my phone. However I notice that the Tegrak OC app gives the user more control with tuning the GPU and I/O scheduler in addition to everything that SetCPU offers. Can someone who's been using Tegrak for awhile provide their voltage settings (since its more detailed than the voltages in SetCPU) and if possible any GPU settings/voltages. Also does using a certain I/O scheduler results in a noticeable improvement in performance or day to day usage?

ok only thing ive played with is just overclocking and using the noop scheduler.

Does tweaking the I/O scheduler leads to a noticeable improvement in performance? Can that be changed in SetCPU?

LiveOC question

I am running helly bean with the devil kernel. What exactly is LiveOC? Does it do the same thing as setting the max/min processor speeds in the performance settings?
Sent from my SGH-T959 using xda app-developers app
You probably can't change max above 1000 in performance. Live oc, from my understanding, increases the value by (x)% while scaling. So if you have it set at 120%, it will increase each value ex
120mhz, 240mhz ..up to 1200mhz or however high it will go. If you can set to 1200mhz with 120% live oc it would top out at 1440mhz.
I know that dkc app has target high/low setting as well but I don't know how that is configured.
There is more info on live oc and kernel settings. Try to search it on xda or Google search it, probably have better luck with Google.
I am Jack's smirking revenge.
I changed LiveOC to 120% and it threw my phone into a boot loop... I had restore it... luckily I had a backup.
Sent from my SGH-T959 using xda app-developers app
That can happen, some phones can't handle 120%, go down to 110%.
Were you able to change the CPU value above 1000?
I am Jack's smirking revenge.
Yeah. I am running at 1200 max right now... I'm not gonna mess with LiveOC though... I'm happy with the performance at 1200.

Setcpu ?

I undervolted my phone with Setcpu with max freq of 1150 MHz, however in CPY spy i still find freqs over that r being used.....is there something wrong?

You most likely have a performance option that came with the Custom Rom or are running an app that has System App access , which will over ride a User App. Double check all apps and settings to see if you have any other programs that have system user rights to your CPU, that is most likely what is over taking your desired settings.

Thanks for the quick reply, I'm on the Android Revolution HD 8.0 ROM now, that is probably the reason for this. Can I do something with this?
Sent from my HTC One X+ using xda app-developers app
Open up the app your using to undervolt, these should be an option to restore default values. Once back on default go ahead and open the programs' App info and disable or freeze it. Reboot and run your CPU spy app and see what is taking charge of your voltage. Also possible your voltages are not sticking which has to do with the ROM. Id suggest running profiles for CPU rather then undervolt. I. E. 534 mhz - 1434 mhz when screen on, 348-1012 when screen off. SetCPU is what i use. You have less of a chance of frying the motherboard and doing irreversible damage to your phone internally

Undervolt has to do with lowering the power that goes to the battery. when desired mhz occurs, where as underclocking has to do with specifically CPU processors and with a specified setting (screen off, music app on) occurring. Just to clear up my previous post. Undervolting the battery use to do wonders on phones a few years back because of all around poor battery life on most devices. But nowadays it is pretty pointless.

CPU Profiles

Has anyone messed with their cpu governors and frequencies?
What program do you use? What are some good configurations?
Also in better battery stats I see the phone does not go into deep sleep. Is this normal?
I am running beast mode kernel rage option, minin3 Rom.
Thanks for your input.

No deep sleep is not normal. Using betterbatterystats find out what's causing a wakelock. Greenify is a great app that helps with this.
I use romtoolbox. I have it set to max freq about 2.4ghz. Only profile I have is screen off max frequency of around 1.2ghz.
I use interactive governor and noop scheduler.
