Help one last time. - Motorola Photon 4G

Im trying to unlock the bootloader via linux. Ive got the derpunlock.sbf flashed. When i load the fastboot unlock command it stays stuck on waiting for device and will not go any further. Any help?

Make sure you are in right mode fast boot (volume down + power ) from cold start, volume down again to find fast boot and volume up to select. Also make sure you have all the drivers installed prior all these.

The device is in rsd and the comp recognizes the phone otherwise i wouldnt be able to flash. Could it be a bad fastboot?

CWM help

I am coming from a Droid and to boot into recovery if it boot looped or anything it was power + x then it was in CWM. But I am unsure how to get into recovery if it boot loops on my tbolt. Sorry for the noob question!

To get into cwm you hold volume down as the phone boots up, then select recovery. Make sure you don't have a pg05img on the root of your sd card tho because it will automatically try and install it, resulting in your inability to select recovery.

Thank you for the help. Last dumb question. What's a pgn05img? So many new things to learn on this.

Not dumb, but it shows you've not rooted...
It's basically a stock rom/rom-update image file. If the phone sees one on hboot, it will overwrite your current system with it.
If you've rooted your phone, you put two different versions of it on the sdcard at some point in the process. If you forget to remove it or rename it after finished rooting it could be problematic.

Can I get some help....

Alright I just traded for a photon the guy told me it was stock and wasn't rooted. Well it was rooted and on 4.5.1A-1_SUN-198.6. The bootloader was locked though. I came tried to boot into recovery and there is no recovery there. I unlocked the bootloader and tried to install the bootstrap it worked at first but when I rebooted and tried to go back into recovery again there is none on the phone. So whats my best course of action? Use RSD go back to complete stock and start over or is there a fix for this?
i think you are mixing things up a bit, bootstrap is an app that launches a custom made recovery that is kinda like a livecd version of cwm. you have to unlock and then flash it in order for it to stick
I would double check to see if you still had root. if not, you have to re-root. then install http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1218417
[Unlocked Only][RECOVERY][2011-09-23] Custom CWM-based Recovery 5.0.2.3-photon2.
I remember having the same problem. I just had to repeat some steps.

Dammit no matter what I do I can't get any kind of recovery to take.
Sent from my MB855 using xda premium
Just rsd to the latest sbf once booted go into settings . Then privacy. Then factory data reset. OK now power off. Turn on holding volume down an power once screen says fastboot, let go and press volume down til u see android recovery. Press volume up to start it. When the icon comes up press volume down and volume up at same time. Now you are in recovery do what u need in there and soon you will back to 100% stock.

Also can you clarify how you are trying to get into recovery? And what does happen when your perform the steps to get there?

[Q] Pin lock

I bought an atrix on-line and it was sent with a pin lock. They obviously did not know to wipe the data. Can I get around it somehow? I would like to unlock BL and root etc so I can actually use the phone. Any help is appreciated.
Ok I found an app called "unlock bypass" but it needs to be installed to the phone. Does anyone know how to push an app through adb?

Not sure what the command is in fastboot. Also does the phone have to be previously put into debugging mode. Because it is not. Thanks

Rebooting none stop

After flashing codis rom from mikrom after aroma installer was done, it jumped to recovery and asked me to fix su after i press yes it just started rebooting on and off trying to reboot back to recovery but it wont stay in recover, it goes back off and on and it keeps doing the same thing and i cant get it to stop. I can manually go into bootloader then fastboot and power down from there but when i try to go back to recovery through bootloader so i can try fixing it just doesnt want to stay in cwm recovery. Hoping anybody can help or guide me in the right direction to fix it, maybe using adb or something, thanx

Before flashing ROM did, did you flash boot.IMG in fast boot?

So i could probably use a hand....

T-Mobile L769 - was rooted with LGPwn.apk
Followed this guide (I thought to a "T") but apparently I screwed up somewheres.
I believe I'm currently what you would call soft bricked. When i attempt to boot the phone i get the LG logo with "Security Error" just below it now.
will this guide help me unbrick my phone or am I now officially up $h!t creek?
if it helps the current KDZ was V20D and it was attempting to update to V20F but the update kept failing because we removed bloatware and then 10 minutes later saw a post informing us that that would stop OTA updates.
so you know.....a little help??
This happened to me. I flashed a recovery.img from a stock 20F using this fastboot command.....

If you already have fastboot for the L9, just turn off the phone, take out the battery, run start in admin mode, choose option 1, plug in the phone when it requests, and wait 4 seconds.....insert the battery and run those commands.
Sent from my LG-P769 using XDA Premium 4 mobile app
hangs up at <waiting for device> and then reboots to security error screen

???....Okay. When it says waiting for device, at that moment plug it in with the battery in and pressing volume down. That's another way to get to fastboot.

The phone itself goes into fastboot but that's where it sticks and then resets

When you connect, make sure to have device manager open and see if the OMAP drivers are installed. If so, you should get the inverted white LG logo. At that point, you need to run the commands.

fastboot finally started acknowledging the phone
ran
Code:
fastboot flash recovery recovery.img
ran
Code:
fastboot reboot
<SECURITY ERROR> still beneath LG Logo

Is recovery.img in the same directory from where you're running the commands?

Okay. Here's another way to install the stock recovery thanks to rarsenaux post in August........
Open LG Mobile Update (Make sure you have internet on)
Input MEID (located behind battery)
Connect phone to computer via USB in S/W upgrade mode (Vol+ then insert USB)
Let LG download and install phone recovery
NOTE: Recovery stopped at 4% install, but just leave it alone, and it will install correctly. It never went past 4%
NOTE: This will return your phone to factory settings like the day you got it, so you will have to re-root if you use this method.
Sent from my LG-P769 using XDA Premium 4 mobile app
This worked but I didn't have to enter in the MEID.
I plugged the phone in.
Installed the driver while it went through a couple checks to see if the phone was connected.
While it was doing that i re-installed the drivers (actually did this part 2 or 3 times)
It finally recognized that the phone was connected and told me some type of software was up to date.
I opened up the drop down at the top of the screen and hit "Update Recovery" and let it do it's thing.
I can now turn the phone on without receiving the "Security Error" but my screens all wonky.
I've run LGPwn.apk and then reinstalled L9 Recovery but i can't boot into recovery to flash the tsfix. I have the option to boot to recovery when i open the recovery tool but the phone itself won't boot into recovery.
