Atrix stock ROM has a setting for three levels of noise canceling on outgoing calls. I guess that what it does is to sample ambient noise with the camera mic on the back and subtract it from the voice on the front mic before sending to the network.
I'm no developer (yet) but I wonder if it might be possible to implement in CM7/9 (or is it already there?). A search in XDA shows that it may be some hardware involved in the solution, do it might require some low level hack.

So...is this a statement....or a question?

Doesn't belong here if you're not developing anything or already have it done so this belongs in q&a.

Easy... I understand. I just wanted to know if this function is in CM7 or is being developed. If I posted on the wrong thread, I apologize. MOD, please delete it

I really need to find this setting, I put cm7.2 nightly on my wifes atrix and I cannot understand her very well. I always turned off noise cancellation on stock rom.

Y tried a lot...any works for me...an usimg cm7.2

same here every call recorder is working, I m on cm7.
Atrix 4G, CM7 based TopSmarts 1.3 rom, Faux123 1ghz kernel.
If I m helpful dont hesitate to thank me.
Can't do it. Motorola has this locked down, I believe at the hardware level, as call recording is not legal everywhere.
You can record the person you are calling if you use speakerphone, but not from the call directly.
Already several threads about this.
If I am correct it is possible on Chinese Atrix, as I read somewhere a long time ago they can use call recording.
Also, because it is a feature in a "generic" ROM such as the CM series, this does not mean it will actually work on every device. It is possible to disable this function at the hardware level, and no amount of software manipulation will make any difference.
Sorry for my english...i tried buy i wanto say anysoftware dont work for me...i can record any call

I think atrix offical rom don't support call record
I see a topic telaated call record. There was a libriary for call record
I found that one other person posted this in the Shostock thread, so I figured I'd at least ask. I'm currently on Shishir's ICS rom, but I noticed it also on the UCLC2 leak: when I get an incoming call, the ring volume starts off very quiet for the first half-second or so, then immediately jumps to the set ringing volume (which for me is pretty high). Has anyone else experienced this? If so, is there any fix? Or is it a bug that's well known and not yet fixed and I'm just an idiot? Any help would be appreciated
A lot of Samsung phones have the Increasing Ringtone. When I had the Samsung Eternity, it started with low volume then jumped to a higher volume, same with my Samsung Captivate. I think it's one their "features" for their phone.

I never experienced it on stock 2.3.4 though. My gf's captivate doesn't do it either. So I don't think that's it. Any other ideas?

I remember that feature on old pre-smartphone era phones. I haven't seen that in any versions of the S II or android from GB to ICS...
I wonder if bumping is allowed in this forum.
Does anyone have any useful information about this at all? Is it even happening to anyone else on custom ICS roms?

Increasing ring, you can remove it by modding it.
Shostock, Phone-Bricker, not sure what else have removed it so it doesn't do that.

I have no idea how to mod on odex files.
Shirshir knows I believe since his rom is the only odex in our phone.
What controls in call volume? Is it kernel or the radios? I've seen patches to fix the volume in sense 4 roms, but what do they actually do? Just curious and trying to learn as much as possible. If there's a file or set of files that can be modified, what are they and how can I edit them? Thanks

Could someone help me out with this? It seems like every other Rom I flash has no in call volume, mostly sense 4 and aosp roms. Someone has got to know what files to tinker with to correct this issue. I know its not hardware, I'm on the stock ruu leak now and its fine, and I wipe thoroughly between every Rom. I'm willing to donate $10 big bucks on my payday to anyone who can successfully help me. And I know that's not a lot, but its a 6pk of brew and a pack of smokes or coffee for a couple days or hours depending on the person. I'm desperate right now. Thanls

There is app called Call Recorder which turns on speaker phone, makes it significantly louder than usual. It records all phone calls. This may not be legal in your state unless you answer each call by informing the other party that the call is being recorded.

Thanks, but no thanks, I'm looking for a more permanent fix or a systematic fix, its something in the coding between roms that's making the in call volume suck.

Back in the CM7 days on the Eris, we used to flash a patch to really crank up all the volume. I still had the patch sitting in my dropbox and I'll upload it here if you'd like to take a look.

Thanks man, I was hopeful, but it wouldn't flash, and when I manually moved it to the etc folder it broke the radios.

I figured it probably wouldn't, but hopefully it can give someone an idea of where to look to begin
From my Windows Mobile days, I always flashed the EnergyROM ROMs and always had the option to go to phone settings during a phone call and just hit "Record" and I would record my phone calls natively. In Windows, this could also be enabled by changing some registry keys and adding some others, there was no need for third party software.
I've seen on Google Play that there are several third party Apps that claim to enable the call recording functionality, and since those apps can do it natively as they say, I would like to know if there's a way to enable/add the functionality to the native phone dialer without having to install a third party app, like it used to be in Windows Mobile...
I wish I knew Linux/Android enough to go play with the configuration files, but unfortunately I don't know enough yet, so any help will be appreciated.
Cheers!
Z
Not in ICS.
Some third party apps MAY work but from what I've seen they don't work well.

I use CallRecorder and it work great.
Callrecorder is $9.95 just so you are prepared.
Saurom Rom, though just gingerbread has call recording you just hit the record button on the dealer.
For the life of me i don't know why the developer has left that feature out of his ics releases.

See, that's the thing, I refuse to pay for an app that provides a functionality that is native to the OS and should be enabled by default. And $9.95? Are you kidding?
This has been talked about to death. And the only reason anyone can come up with is that it could cause huge legal issues depending on where you live. So they disabled it on the kernel level.

saurom records. recorder says you just need to be rooted.
As far as legality issues go. Pfft. It's legal here in Texas. We don't allow vehicular homicide though.

See that's the thing. In many states you have to tell them you are recording it before you start. Which could be an issue later on
Sent from my Inspire 4G using Tapatalk 2
Then do that.
I don't run over people so they let me drive.
Don't take away everyones vehicle.
I don't think it's removed from the kernel. It might be switched off, like record=0 kind of thing. But it's there.
I think I'd pay for it if I had another reason to move from Dayton. But, honestly I haven't been impressed by any of the roms I've mucked with.
I don't know why saurom's daddy hasn't made an ics ROM as good.

They should enable it and let the users deal with the legal issues that may arise. A are all adults, and if we can have weapons and free speech, then we should also be able to record our calls.
I want to have the same weapon big companies have, if they record my calls for training purposes like they say and then they can use those calls against you, I want to record the calls too so I can quote then accurately.
I would like to know how to enable the option in the kernel. I will research this and if I can figure it out I'm going to post it here

Actually he's working on it as we speak (the ROM, I mean) - Dagr8's thread "[ROM]4.1.1[Android Open Kang Project] JB PReview august 9 build" is here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1822640

I tried the latest and greatest of his JB Tom this weekend, it didn't have call recording though. I'm back on Saurom. Anyone finding anything else?
I'm on bigfau's black*star ics, and I use Sanity from the playstore to record my calls. Will record 2 minutes for free. Have to pay 4 dollars and some change for infinite recording. Seems to work good so far. When u get a call, slide down the notifications and hit record.
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I717 using Tapatalk 2
I tried sanity on a jb rom but i think it wasn't working because i set the delays too 0 from the default of ( i think ) 3 seconds.
--update my first real phone call was blank. Not zero file size, 45 seconds of nothing. Uninstalled and installed callrecorder trial. Sanity did have some nice other features.
I got tired of the various roms i tried known issues. So im trying bigfau's black star with sanity trial. It appears to work. I left the defaults for recording delays and set it to record all calls... I'll manage the files.
My only hesitation to buying sanity is its age. Callrecorder is twice the cost but is still being developed...
At least i have bigfau left developing a stable rom. No flicker, no random reboots, etc.

Not even a fresh install wont work. Not that it matters much.
Also the clock doesn't forclose anymore but then time changes when you click on network automatic time and zone. I can read strait answers so if you guys have some feedback that would be great.

I'd like to add a few questions of my own here instead of making a new thread. My friend is still on a CM9 nightly from 9(ish) months ago, and asked me about putting CM10.1 on it. I couldn't find a CM10.1 thread in the development section, and XDA's search is "unavailable" at the moment. So I have a few questions I'd love to get some answers to.
What works / doesn't work? On my S3, everything but bluetooth audio and the noise canceling mic work. There is also an issue where the mic used when recording video and talking to Google Now records really quiet. Other than that its a daily driver.
Could I get some similar info on CM10.1 for the S2? What hardware works and doesn't work? What applications don't seem to work or work well? How is battery life compared to CM9? Do you have a suggested Kernel or two I should look at for her?
Thank you in advance for your help!
The only kernel (for now) is CM which is in the ROM.....battery life, for me, seems a good bit better. As far as apps, I have had no trouble with any tho I don't use Netflix or BT audio. The ROM works really well for me other than I had a problem not being able to hear call waiting when I was one a call. Other than that its really solid.
Sent from my SGH-I777 using xda app-developers app
Thank you very much. Sounds like it is in just about the same state as the S3 nightlies are in.
