[Q] Unlocked Phone - Android Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi, am relatively new to Android.
As far as I know:
- SIM unlock = able to put in any carrier's SIM
- bootloader unlock = can put in any bootloader program to load a custom ROM
1. Any other "unlocks" people normally want?
2. Have an old Samsung galaxy phone in use, Android 2.33 - how do I check if it's SIM unlocked (without putting in another SIM at the moment?)
Thanks for any help rendered!

I know an aditional unlock
you could root your phone to get full access to all system features and for using apps requering root
How to root your phone --> check out the search button here in the xda
Hope this could help u

[Q] how to introduce unlock code in cyanogenmod 7?

hello....i've get the the unlock code but i have cyanogenmod and i don't know how to introduce it...
Guess you are referring to the SIM Unlock code.
You need to put a SIM card for another carrier and power up the phone, once you do this you will get prompted for the Unlock Code.

I had this problem. Cyanogenmod does not prompt you for an unlock code when putting in a different sim.
You have to flash back to a stock rom, and then put in your unlock code. Then flash back to Cyanogenmod.
I have the same problem

As I said above, Cyanogenmod does not prompt you for an unlock code after putting in a SIM card from a different network.
You have to flash your phone back to a stock rom, boot up the phone with a different SIM, enter the unlock code, then flash back to Cyanogenmod.
I guess you can make a backup with Clockworkmod and then restore it afterwards. But I am not sure if the phone will be locked again.

Temporary workaround for SIM Card prompt
I have the same issue with my Motorola Defy+ (CM 10.1.20130331-NIGHTLY-mb256) in Australia using Telstra
Here is a way to force the SIM card unlock prompt to appear.
1) Boot phone - no SIM unlock screen appears - no mobile signal available (Network Unavailable) - that's OK read on...
2) Go to Settings- Security - Screen Lock
3) Change your Screen Lock method - I've tried Swipe and Pattern - both work for me
4) Once I have set the new Screen lock method I am immediately prompted with the SIM card unlock prompt
5) I enter the SIM card unlock code and I have mobile signal
6) Change your Screen Lock method back to whatever you want it to be.
It's an annoying workaround, but at least you don't have to re-flash your phone to a stock ROM, enter the pin and then flash up to the latest mod again.
Hope this helps.

[Q] How to get S3 to auto prompt for unlock code?

How do I get my S3 to auto prompt for the unlock code? I'm just trying to unlock it for use on another network, and maybe apply a new ROM (I tried Android Revolution HD which looks cool)
I have the stock Vodafone UK ROM on it right now, but can put another ROM on it if I need to do that to unlock it.
It used to prompt me to enter an unlock code, but now it doesnt...
Thanks,
Paul
If you are talking about a pin for the SIM, then this is stored on the SIM so will not take effect if you change sims. If you are referring to the unlock specified in phone security settings, then this will get removed when you wipe the phone (such as when you put on a new rom).Just go back into settings and set the unlock code again.

Hi,
To have the asked unlock code, just put a SIM card from another carrier. You are on Vodafone so put an Orange SIM card (for example) and you will have the unlock code request (I presume you have it?).
But for move to another ROM you need to unlock your phone?
Or try this to unlock your phone: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1846451&highlight=sim+unlock
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1802951
But you need root:

But, first, if I'm not mistaken just root your phone to change of ROM... no need to SIM unlock

I mean the unlock code to use on a differ t network. It should ask for unlock code when I put in foreign sim.
Where us that option in the settings?
Thanks,
Paul
Yes if it doesn't ask, maybe it's already unlocked.

Thanks Viking37...
I have just used the GalaxSIm unlock and it's worked a treat so I'm using my Orange SIM... I expect that the O2 SIM may not be setup by O2 yet. I will have to call them to get that SIM sorted out.
Thanks for your help. This is now solved.

SIM unlock vs other stuff

i was wondering, if you can flash cyanogen mod onto your phone, do you need to bother with SIM unlocking, or does that completely unlock your phone at that point? or, if you root your phone and unlock your bootloader, does that have ANY THING to do with SIM unlocking - does it render it unecessary? if SIM unlock is COMPLETELY separate, and always required (for freedom), then can any one recommend a reputable and reliable place online to do it?
thanks.

how do i remove a simlock on a galaxy ace 4 SM-G357FZ?

hey everyone im hoping you can help.
currently my device is locked to EE uk but i have an 02 sim card
the device is rooted with busybox and xposed framework installed.
i did try a guide to go into service mode and remove a sha256 lock but the options seem different (although i think it was for other devices) and i also did try to get a BLM5 file but the phone doesn't seem to have that file.
so i was hoping someone can point me in the right direction to either extract the unlock pin or to remove the simlock completley without the pin.
I also did try an app called galaxy sim unlock from the playstore but that didnt work.
it just said that my unlock code is
or or or
anybody?

Trying to network unlock a Samsung A10s

Hi!
I am trying to network unlock my phone - it is paid off but the network here say they won't provide unlock codes (I live on a little island in the Caribbean - things are a little different - legal or not they won't help).
Now for the stupid questions/points.
1. Does unlocking the bootloader mean any SIM will work?
2. If I do manage to unlock the bootloader (please laugh - I have not been able to in 3 days..) Can I remove some of the bloatware, or do I need to install a different ROM.
All I want is to use the phone with another network when I travel, and if not too hard a phone I can delete apps I don't want.
It is a Samsung A10s (A107M)
Thanks!!!
1. Unlocking bootloader does not mean it will unlock your carrier/SIM. Bootloader locked and carrier locked are two different things.
2. You can remove some of the bloatware with or without unlocking the bootloader, here is a good tutorial on how to do it, all you need is a PC and adb: https://www.xda-developers.com/what-is-adb/ and https://www.xda-developers.com/uninstall-carrier-oem-bloatware-without-root-access/
You could unlock it with z3x box. Though you will have to get additional parts.
You might flash a unlocker
