[Q] Three UK SGS3 - Unlocked or Not? - Galaxy S III Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hello!
Just wondered if any of you have got the SGS3 online from Three UK and if it was sim locked or not?

I don't have another micro sim to check but the phone is branded by three (start-up/shut-down animation, three app and option for gsm only removed) so I imagine they have sim locked it as well.
You can call their customer services to have it unlocked but I don't know how much they charge.

I have my Vodafone SIM running in my 3 GSIII. Works fine

My Three UK SGS 3 has a 3 boot animation.
It is unlocked to all networks.
I have tried an 02 and Orange microsim card.
Tom

Locked or not later today comes an unlock guide by Odia.
He did manage to unlock my phone that was locked on Three of Sweden.
Just patience people

[Q] Got htc radar unlocked but wont read t-mobile sim card

My girlfriend bought a T-mobile HTC radar off craigslist and It wouldn't read a T-mobile sim card. Which I though was weird. So I bought a unlocked code and unlocked it with my AT&T sim card. The phone will work with the AT&T sim card but not with a t-mobile sim card. I've try a contract and pre-paid T-mobile sim and nothing. I went to T-mobile and got a brand new sim card and still nothing. Like I said if I put my AT&T sim in the phone it work fine. Can some one please help me to get this phone to read a t-mobile sim. I though once you unlocked it you could use any carrier that use a sim card.
you'll have to call t-mobile to activate it with the sim card

I don't think so. I regularly bounce between T-Mobile and AT&T with all my unlocked phones. The only limiting factor is the radio and the data bands that it receives. And, of course the Radar was made for T-Mo. Mine has always been great there.
Now, there are two versions of the phone. The US version is simply called the Radar and can use either T-Mobile or AT&T's networks. The international version is model C110E and called either the Radar or the Omega. It will work on AT&T, but it does not have the T-Mobile bands. It is made for data networks in Europe and it additional bands for Asia. The antenna configuration is different in the two phones.
Does your Radar say "T-Mobile" in the top right corner? Is it possible that you have the C110E?
I got a unlocked code and it works on my at&t sim card but not a T-Mobile one. I've try contact and prepaid sim cards. Nothing! I got a new sim card and nothing! It a T-Mobile HTC radar. It should work on T-Mobile but it don't. A Friend of mine said T-Mobile has lock the phone from there end. I got the unlocked code and it works with at&t sim but not T-Mobile. I don't like the windows one. I've unlocked 3 mytouch, 4 SGII and a galaxy note. This has been a pain in the ass from day one. If u think of a idea let me know it won't hurt.

Maybe the IMEI has been blocked by Tmo? Call and find out.

[Q] Strange network/SIM card problem

I bought a Moto E in Chile several months ago. It came with a SIM card from the company Claro, but they assured me it was unlocked. I switched the SIM to my Entel SIM card, and it worked fine. I took a trip to the U.S. and tried to use a SIM card from someone else's phone, but it asked for a PIN. I just figured the SIM was PIN locked, gave up and forgot about it. Now I'm in Colombia, and I tried several SIM cards from Claro, but they don't work. With my Chilean Entel SIM card, I still get roaming network access, but if I put any other SIM in (even my Chilean Claro SIM), I get no signal. Bizarre because the phone was originally a Claro phone.
So did the Entel SIM card somehow lock my phone to Entel?? That's the only explanation I can think of... If so, how can I unlock it?

Bands might not be supported! That's the best probable explanation since you have an unlocked phone, inserting a sim shouldn't lock it!

I checked that just in case, but the bands are supported. Anyway, if the bands weren't supported I wouldn't get roaming access with my Entel SIM either, right?
The people at Claro (and at Movistar too) told me I need to contact the store where I bought the phone and ask them for an unlock code. Unfortunately I don't have the receipt with me in Colombia, and I don't remember which store I bought the phone at... I guess I'll try just emailing every store I might have bought it at, but if that doesn't work, what other option do I have?

How can I tell which network my phone is locked to (UK)?

I've just bought a used H850 which was supposed to be locked to the EE network, but my Plusnet Mobile SIM doesn't seem to work with it (Plusnet Mobile uses the EE network). How can I check which network the phone is locked to?
Im on EE UK and so far as I know.. EE locked phones only allow T-Mobile, Orange, IKEA Family Sim... not PlusNet... PlusNet might use their towers and frequencies, but they have to be registered with EE to work on the Sims... Howver, your in luck... along with HTC phones, the LGs on EE are one of the cheapest and fastest mobiles to get unlocked

Ive had 5 G5s unlocked by these guys.. and all 5 times, the codes came back within 3 hours... even on a Sunday..
Be aware though, some High street trade in stores (CEX, Granger Games, GAME) have warranties and if you sim unlock the G5, it will invalidate that warranty
Good Luck

Looks like I got lucky. After a reboot I was indeed able to connect to the network. So it seems that, in my case at least, a Plusnet SIM does work on an EE-locked handset.
Just buy a 99p sim from your local home bargains/B&M Bargains and try them out.
However, I'm pretty sure that a mobile phone that is locked locked to the EE network will allow a SIM card from a mobile virtual network operator (MVNO) that uses the EE network. So Plusnet/Virgin Mobile/Asda Mobile will work in an EE locked handset, likewise an O2 locked handset will work with Tesco Mobile/GiffGaff SIM card.

Is it possible to use unlocked ATT branded Galaxy S9+ on T-Mobile?

Hello,
My wife's Galaxy Note 8 somehow boots to different firmware based on SIM card inserted into it which surprised me since I thought that phones are usually coming with single firmware for either provider. I'm considering switching to T-Mobile from ATT and I have ATT branded Galaxy S9+ unlocked. My question will it have the same experience I noticed on my wife's phone or I have to deal with flashing firmware etc to make it work properly with WiFI calling etc features of native T-Mobile ROM?
Below message I received from Ebay seller which sold Galaxy Note 8. Is it true?
Thanks for contacting us. Samsung integrated new firmwares on S8 and newer model phones. Means whatever sim card you insert, it will program according to it. If you insert T-Mobile sim card, phone will restart and will show T-Mobile logo and apps. Same for AT&T and other GSM carriers. If you are AT&T user. Please insert the AT&T sim card and phone will ask you to restart the device with AT&T logo and apps. Tap yes.

Yes. It will work on any carrier. Even vzw or Sprint

If unlocked ATT branded GS9+ phone will work on any other carrier, what is the point of the threads below about flashing T-Mobile CSC (or whatever it's called) to ATT phone and vice a versa, etc if phone already supports switching between carriers on it's own?
