there a way to change it from the gawd awful Samsung logo to anything else really? i am hoping i can match it to my Acer ICONIA Tab A501. i did a fair bit of searching and trolling these sub-forums and all people seem to talk about is the boot animation. i am talking about the Samsung logo when the phone is first powered on. Any ideas or help would be appreciated.

If its anything like the vibrant, that is something that is baked into the kernel, you would have to roll your own.

Hello.. another noob here.... (sorry)
I've done as I've seen mentioned on here.... I've put one of the splash.zips (Fskull.zip) into both my /data/local folder And my /system/media folder... and renamed it bootanimation.zip... and I still get the "Samsung" logo... then the Ugly AT&T ball splash screen. NO CHANGE to boot up on restart or turning on.
I did see in /system/media folder there is a "bootsamsung.qmg" and a "bootsamsungloop.qmg"... if I rename them.... the Ugly AT&T ball screen is now blank.... with the same annoying boot sound... But still NO modded splash screen showing !?
Am I missing something ? Please help.... I would like to get rid of the "SAMSUNG" screen & the Ugly AT&T logo on start up !!
Phone is an AT&T Samsung Galaxy Note (SGH-I717)
Android 4.1.2 (rooted)
Thanks
Don :fingers-crossed:
You see the logo for 2 seconds really? Do you constantly reboot your phone to see your boot animations Lol ...good luck
™
The initial splash is in the bootloader, which is closed source and very dangerous to play around with just for a 2 second image.
The second image before the bootanimation is the kernel splash...with a custom kernel that's usually different.
As for the guy 2 posts above me....(domedew) You're on stock...you need a custom kernel to use a bootanimation.zip
Yo can however delete the boot sounds.

I had a ROM that changed my boot logo from the original HTC one... not the splash screen but the logo itself... How can I change it back, I already asked in General section and got no response so I hope someone here can help out. Thank you ahead.
Are you talking about the bootanimation that has Thunderbolt on it?

Splash screen is the first thing you see, your boot animation is your second, which one are you referring to?

So i just spent about 15 minutes researching this, and as far as the posts on XDA go, there is no tutorial, guide or instructions on doing this. Dev's have looked into it, but have gotten nowhere. HTC allows you to do this if you have the engineering bootloader, which you cannot get with the nexus. The engineering bootloader allows you to flash PARTS of an image instead of the whole thing. So, I am not saying it is impossible, but the information is not availabale on XDA.
The "Google" screen is not possible to change. But between Google and animation, like trinity kernels, it is fix in the kernel library. Only Morfic and few ppl actually know to do this.

I don't know if this is even possible, but on my HTC it was possible to change the screen that comes up before the boot animation, it was called a "splash screen" on the Inspire 4G. So in our case it would replace the Samsung Galaxy S2 or GT-i9100 triangle screen.
Sorry if this has been done and I don't know what it's called. I've been following this device for a while and am yet to see anything.

Though not a solid answer, here are some thoughts.
When we do an Odin flash of an unsigned OS, this is the screen where the yellow triangle pops up to remind us of our evil ways (its actually an entire new picture that has the triangle on it, as evidenced by the fact that on an i777 this screen reverts to the i9100 one). I do not recall anyone ever mentioning any way to get rid of this screen short of flashing a signed OS or using a jig (no filehacks to remove the triangle). Seeing as these actions are controlled by the bootloader, I could guess, though I can't be sure, that these image files may also be a part of the bootloader. Though it is possible to mod a bootloader, I, and most of the people on this forum would probably admit modding a bootloader to change a bootscreen on these phones may not be worth the risk, as we enter hard brick territory when we mess with these things.
Search on the Android Market for sgs2. In that group there is a boot screen changer program. I have it loaded on my phone and gone through the procedure but have not actually changed screens yet.
The only thing safe to change is the bootanimation, so you can remove the AT&T if you haven't already by flashing a custom rom.
I just replace the zip file using a file manager (ES,Root Explorer) and reboot.

So you want him to be your test dummy?
I have a jig and got rid of the triangle. I don't think I feel safe using random stuff on Market.

I know it was possible on the captivate. But I haven't seen it done here yet.,I believe the splash screen is located in the kernel not the rom. on the cappy the splash screen would change depending on what kernel you were running. maybe one of the kernel devs (entropy ;-) ) could look into it.

i tried that but still has old splash screen. is there a step im not doing
Just to be sure, you are asking about the splash screen and not the boot animation. The splash screen is the very first image you see when your phone turns on. The boot animation is the animation you see after the splash screen as your phone is booting.

Also in some splash threads there now using the normal way of changing it to a pg75img.zip i believe thats the name of it but anyways to do it that way you have to be s-off read the op of the thread they usually put instructions in there on how to flash

Hi. I flashed a rom via ODIN. The 4.1.2 JB one for UCMD8. Problem is, the logo only shows the Samsung Logo, not the Samsung Galaxy SII Logo. Even if I unroot it, it's still like that. Can I bring the old one back? Thanks!

You want to replace just the boot logo? That's an easy fix; just Google "boot animation XDA" and you'll find several threads with flashable zips for you. In fact, I believe there's an older thread in our own Themes sub-forum, so maybe look there first.

No, not the boot animation. As in like the Samsung logo you first see when you boot it up.

Changing the boot screen is not trivial, but it can be done... see.
Thanks man! I just made the splash screen look like it just came out of the box. The previous one I had was only the Samsung logo.
