Hi, I'm quite confused because in the white paper it's not present, but in the internal hidden menu(*#*#4636#*#*) there is a box for setting the preferred network mode and its also present LTE
Someone knows something about it???

I didnt think the Xperia S had an LTE hardware. Maybe it is just present because the Xperia Ion has it. There are rumors of a Xperia S being released in the US unlocked though.

Bigger phone, better wi fi receiver probably?
On my active, sitting right next to the router i have "poor signal" in phone info...
I thing that is a minor bug in signal detection. I have seen this on my LWW when I was so close to my router and the signal came to 1 bar, but speed was fast

I currently live in the US, but am planning on moving to the UK in September. Currently I have a Droid Bionic that is old, and I am looking to drop Verizon and pick up Tmo or another contractless carrier until I move. Obviously I want the phone to work in the UK, with EE as well. I am looking to buy a newer phone with a 5" 1080p display, nfc, and a micro sd slot. Any suggestions? I like the the Xperia Z but there are different models. Any suggestions?
Sure along as it picks up the correct gsm networks you will be fine pal

Any suggestions for models of phones?

I think the GS4 should meet your requirements.
Has crazy specs along with LTE.
As my phone is ultimately failing right now, I'm not sure how much longer I can use this phone before it goes out the Window or quits completely. So S4 is out of the question.

Any other ideas?

Hi,
Any chance to have GSM call on Sony tablet P 3G even by software upgrade or developer patch?
Or there's hardware lag causing this issue?
Thanks

Nobody has ever tried. The modem card is F5521gw though, so you can research via that route if you want to explore further.
Hi
i just shipped over a Verzon Droid DNA to Singapore. Everything works up till HSPA+. But i am unable to obtain any 4G reception. The bands are supported here in Singapore. I suspect it is locked by Verizon, so is there any way to use 4G here?. Will rooting, radio, or app solve my problem? Please help as i am desperate here
Thanks so very much!
I havent been getting lte at all since the first day i bought my xperia z. Not even once. I just think its the poor lte coverage of starhub in my case.

LTE is supposed to work actually. They have both 1900 and 2600 bands here. Unless it is somehow carrier-locked. Is your Xperia Z an import or local set? Cus a local Note 2 LTE has 4G connectivity almost anywhere.
Local. But i havent even got lte for once. I asked around xz starhub user on the forum, one of them said he only got lte in some places like tampines, changi..

Ok.Seems pretty strange as i get 4G on my Note 2 almost anywhere.
But just wanna confirm with the users here if my issue is due to Verizon locking the 4G or due to the reception in my area. At least that way, i can do something about it as i am lost right now.
Isn't 4g mediated by SIM?

have you tried putting your 4G sim from the note 2 into the dna?

Meaning those who are still using the 12gb plan can never get 4g?

So mine, as with many in the UK is locked down.
My question is, if I get Vodafone to unlock the phone will this allow the bootloader to be unlocked also, or is it simply the allowing for use on different providers that is unlocked?
Sent from my D6503 using xda app-developers app
Nope, you're screwed if you want to unlock your BL. Happened with me in 2012, I got an Xperia T with Three UK and I've had to play with stock based ROM's since then. It gets EXTREMELY frustrating...

Wow, your kidding right, this is a major problem to me as playing with root takes up a lot of my life (I guess it's an autistic trait).
Can't Sony sort for me if I contact them?
What's the point in locking some in that case?
Sent from my D6503 using xda app-developers app
It's not Sony's decision unfortunately, but rather part of the terms that Networks put forward to sell Sony's phones.
Many have tried previously to get Sony to help but have been flatly refused as Sony are bound by their contracts to the network. I tried contacting my network (Three Uk) for help with my Xperia S but again, they point blank refused to do anything.
If it's going to be a huge issue then as stated the only option is to return the phone to your network and purchase an unlocked one either from Sony directly, or a company that definitely sells ones witb unlockable bootloaders.
Edit: Root and Recovery can still be achieved (once someone discovers a method for the Z2), so it's only custom kernels and custom ROMs that won't be possible on Locked Bootloaders.

Question - if I root via an exploit, can I not then force the bootloader to allow an unlock?
Sent from my D6503 using xda app-developers app
Nobody managed that on previous Sony devices so I wouldn't hold out much hope?

But if I root with an exploit it will still be a full root so I can install xposed module and DSP?

Yep you can change anything the system partition. You can install a recovery with the relevant exploit however You are stuck with official signed.Sony kernels..that generally means no custom roms other than those based on stock Sony roms.
