Hi, I have a Neo V depersonalize and after 0.42, I upgraded to 0.62 and I was caught. I'd like to stick ICS and I think I have the locked bootloader. It is neither rooted or anything and even though I read the tutorials clarify. Thank you!
Please post in right sections. Thanks.
PS.- Moving to Q&A

Hi..
This is a bit confusing to me... I'm sorry for starting a new thread for a noob issue I guess.. but please answer my query..
You can close the thread afterwards..
Thanks..
Well..
I have upgraded my phone to .62..
I came across posts that said rooting is not possible for .62.. It seems the zergrush exploit isnt working..
So, I've been trying to get my phone to the .42 firmware. Is this necessary?
Also, I think, its necessary to flash the .42 firmware before rooting my phone, right?
SO i've been using Flashtool 0.6.7.0... but my phone just keeps disconnecting after a few seconds.. I know this issue has been discussed before..
But first I "think" I unlocked my bootloader using the testpoint method.. because my phone isn't booting up after the process..
So, i just need someone to guide me through this process.. I might be going wrong somewhere..
Thanks a lot... Appreciate all the help..
Please don't post new question threads here. Post in the link below. Thanks

Hi Everyone,
I have rooted my neo v using DoomLord's Easy rooting toolkit
and install and backup using CWM Recovery 5.0.2.6 from here
Can any one suggest good custom roms available for my Neo V with all working features (Wifi, Fm Radio, etc).
Preferrably ICS or else old Gingerbeard
You need an unlocked bootloader for majority of the ROMS
I suggest you use SE NEO TWEAKED

No, he is just trying to help.
Information about the roms are here around in many threads.
We really do not need this thread.
Enjoy to read and find by yourself.

Hi, I'm trying to root my Xperia S running on Stock Gingerbread. I want to remain on Gingerbread after root but cannot find clear instructions in doing so. If anybody knows how to, please do share it with me in this thread.
PLEASE DO NOT post a link to the original thread "[Guide]Rooting Xperia S ICS and GB (Locked Bootloaders) (Easier new method with CWM)"
That thread ONLY and I repeat ONLY mentions about flashing back to GB and eventually flashing back to ICS for the root. My goal is to root on Gingerbread and stay on Gingerbread. If anybody knows, please do tell me.
Thank you
this worked for me this morning

http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1886460 this may work.
The easier new method guide, says that after step 2 or 3 you can either flash gingerbread and keep root or reboot ICS and keep root. so it would be: run on GB, follow steps, flash ICS, follow steps flash GB, done.

Look in my signature there's a tutorial how to root any firmware version.
For rooting your firmware look here.
And this is wrong section, post questions only in general section!

I don't wanna go back to GB, if there is no way to root 4.0.4 directly, I wont root it then

NO, you will have to downgrade to root, or you unlock the bootloader and flash a prerooted kernel, but bootloader unlocking is only for rom testers or people who like to experience custom roms, so think of it, because it voids warranty. For a how to look in my signature

at least as of this point in time, this is the only way to root ICS on ST15i and yes, you do have to downgrade to GB in order to accomplish this. no other known method unless you wanna unlock bootloader and try out a custom ROM
with regard to the other method you found of changing kernels, you cannot do that unless you have an unlocked bootloader as you cannot flash kernel with a locked bootloader...
