Can't go wrong with the Crank ringer... sorry couldn't attach it from my phone

I use "Miramba" from the iPhone. I wouldn't mind changing to something new, but after going from iPhone 3G to OG EVO to Nexus S 4G, and now E4GLTE, I still cant find one that I like better...

Ive been using fox nfl sunday theme for a while now. Never heard as anyone ringer before and everyone knows what it is.

I am no expert on X Files, but isn't Twisted Nerve from Kill Bill?

I set my friend's ringtone to the unsolved mysteries theme as a joke, he ended up keeping it.

That, and from the movie.... Twisted Nerve. Bernard Hermann did some really great film scores (Taxi Driver, a ton of Hitchcock, etc).
I had the Kill Bill "Ironside theme" siren for a while. Great ringtone... outside of a business environment (it's really, really loud!).
Been using the Metal Gear Solid codec for a couple years now. Sounds "phone-y" enough, and I get the occasional screams of "Snake? Snake? Snaaaaake!" from total strangers on the street.

The "Jetson's" doorbell

KRS One Sound Of Da Police trimmed to just the beginning before the music

I'm really enjoying the retro sound of Top Gear from Super Nintendo.

Get Zedge from the Market. Thousands to choose from. Zedge will also gives notifications and wallpapers.

I have tons of wavs, mp3 on my SDcard and I use Ringo for all my contacts, custom text notifications for each contact works!

I use the app "Ring Tone Maker" to create ring tones from songs I really like - songs that have the right kind of sound to get my attention and are great to listen to -
My favorite 'ring tones' right now are "Stevie Ray Vaughn - Couldn't Stand the Weather" and ZZTOP - My Heads in Mississippi" both have a really unique sound - great "hook" - and work exceptionally well as ring tones - not only that - they SOUND GREAT on my EVO!

Using the Metal Gear Solid "Codec" ring.
Haven't used it since the HTC Mogul

Using some iphone ringtone that I had downloaded when I was running MIUI on OG Evo.
Its the one that a lot of other iphones seem to have and use, so I'll probably be changing it soon. Just downloaded Zedge.

Nothing suits him like a suit, sang by barney from how I met your mother. My text tone is barney saying, "its going to be legen.....wait for it.....dary." lol

Dude Immortal Technique hell yes Lupe oh no.
Atmosphere is my **** Aesop Rock Evidence good stuff.
I am everywhere with my music but hip-hop(people that aren't like Nicki Minaj or Waka Flocka) and rock are my main.
I have recently been introduced to the so called "dubstep" and i actually like it. One of my friends let me hear tracks from skrillex, deadmau5, emalkay, flux pavilion, cookie monsta, bass nectar, and blue foundation. Apparently, dubstep has been around in the UK(started there as well) for ages but the US is just starting to talk about it.
I'll probably listen to Smashing Pumpkins until the day I die...but I'm also into Keane, and Travis..

cool siri alternative + how to increase sound quality on speakers and headphones

Such fun, LOL. Great app. Thanks for sharing.
I have speak to it assistant ans Jeannie on my phone. both work great. I use volume+ for my sounds needs. it dramatically increases speaker volume and quality. you can do the same with headphones or BT headset also.

Been using Speak-to-it for about 6 months now, and it is really good and getting better all the time. I have emailed with questions and requests for features and while their response time isn't necessarily the greatest, when they do respond they actually give you solutions that work.
+1 for Speak-to-it
Speak to it is great, I just wish it had the Iris UI...eventually Android will have built in "Majel" AKA Google Assistant though, and it should one up Siri.

Siri is like Legos. A child's toy that anyone can have fun with.
Reality is that it is still a toy. I have watched my buddies mess with it, repeat their requests, get pissed, yell at it, etc.
I haven't seen a real world use as unreliable as it is.
So, clones would be like Duplo blocks?

+1 to that! Last night i was in the car looking for Rite Aid and my friend was like "imma ask Siri" i started laughing. When she said "where is the closest rite aid" Siri literally could not understand what she was asking. She tried several times before i had enough and used googles speech search "Navigate to Rite Aid" and it immediately gave me turn by turn directions to rite aid. Just to be an ass i kept closing it and searching over and over again and never had a "I don't know" problem LOL .... but Siri worked when she had to call her mom to complain about how much siri sucked LMAO
Never mind.i figured it out

Sprint Direct Connect Now -- Who's ready to get their Nextel back? [NOW AVAILABLE]

I've missed having PTT since I gave up Nextel for my HTC Mogul. But this news has got me stoked, and glad I've stayed with Sprint. Coming in the form of an Android application, this is rumored to connect with all past, present, and future Direct Connect phones...
http://www.engadget.com/2012/03/20/sprint-leaked-memo-direct-connect-now-android-app/
Anyone else able to get excited about this?
UPDATE: Released today, September 16, 2012. Only available for the Kyocera Rise in the Play Store. More phones to follow, but no information coming from Sprint about what or when...
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.qualcomm.qchat.dlc
Here's a video demonstration of the application from Sprint:
Not really, I always found it annoying. Nothing more annoying than listening to conversations in your super market by some wanna be thugs talkin to his baby mama
Sent from my PG86100 using Tapatalk
Hell yeah! PTT works great in the field. @
Always saw it as useful to people who can't be bothered to take off gloves or drop tools, like construction workers or garbage men. Its just instant speaker phone, right? I just remember a few friends having it and hearing that annoying chirp and listening to a conversation i'm not a part of. Pick up the phone and talk if you aren't preoccupied, chances are people aren't impressed and find you annoying.
PTT could be a blessing or a curse.
LONG time ago, I worked as an IT in a hospital, and was given a huge-ass iDEN phone. While it was great for my purpose (people in another branch could always get in touch with me), I grew tired of thug wannabes dialing random numbers and trying to see if they find a female on other end. Always pleasant when you sit in a meeting and all of a sudden *chirp* yo baby wassup! And no, I always had to keep this thing on, even during meetings. Company policy.
But other than that, it was great. Looking forward to it on Android, as long as you can set privacy settings, and maybe ability to reject callers on initial callup.
Sure, "Thug Wannabes" could be a problem. I grew up in a country part of Central Florida, and EVERYONE has it. They still run it. My dad just got rid of it recently. So, I'm glad it's coming back. There was a way to make your conversations go through the earpiece and not the speaker. Some people just didn't have the decency to do it that way.
Here's my take... If they are using their Data Network for this, than it's going to be worthless, the already existing TikL, is AWFUL if you don't have a decent signal. If it's going to be based off of their talk/text network, then I'm all for it, it would probably work much better.

I use tikl very often and it generally works fine even with only one bar of signal. I think it is by far the best PTT app for android. Tikl also has a privacy setting for all those who don't like that people can just chirp and start talking. With the privacy on no sound can come besides the chirp until you respond.
Well i do agree over hearing conversations can be annoying it wasnt just thugs everyome was guilty of that. I work in construction and always have 2 phones on me. My gs2 ans my i756. Alot of times its so loud i cant hear my gs2 ring but i can hear the 2 way on my nextel. It would be nice for my girlfriend to be able to 2way me if its something important.

HeyTell works pretty well for what it is.
It will be interesting to see if the app Sprint will be using is true time direct connect or voice storage.
The down side is the speakers on some android devices are horrible, EVO 4G and EVO 3D come to mind. Thats one of the main reasons i went to the Epic Touch, better external audio.

HD Voice

So I know it order to take full advantage of this feature both phone require HD Voice -- But what about on our side? If we call someone, does the second microphone on top of the phone block out the background noise for the person on the other side of the call?
......... question when the phone isnt even out yet
*Mod Edit: lets try to be a little nicer next time to start...
That is the idea behind the second microphone we will see how well it works with the Evo LTE once we get it.
As far as the HD Voice the tech behind it is called Wideband Audio and not only do both phones have to be using it but it is not native to to the network so Sprint has to deploy it market by market(Assuming they already are with Network Vision upgrades)so it will be a while before we really get to test it. Here is an article explaining the science behind it:

I was not aware of this. Thanks.
From the Engagdet test, it sounds like both sides need to have HD Voice. The idea is that it does ambient noise cancellation with the second mic, but this audio stream is "encoded" by your phone and only "decoded" by the receiving phone. I can only imagine that all to be a bunch of bs, but who knows, maybe its really just a digital stream of audio at some increased bitrate compared to a "regular" voice call. Sprint will supposedly be using this on a bunch of new handsets coming out soon...but that's all conjecture until we see the EVO Shift 4G LTE+ with more LTEness.

Wow, really?..Obviously this question was not directed towards you, as you have very little to add to the forum. Whether the device is out or not, there are still plenty of people who have a better understanding on the actual way this feature works than I do.
As for everyone else, thanks for the feedback, especially the one from geek.com, I found that to be extremely informative.
I gotta assume the noise cancelling software runs even on non-HD-voice calls, right? I didn't think the dual mics was part of HD voice, just a normal feature on a flagship phone.

Anyone still remember the HD Voice that is supposed to be deployed "by the end of 2012?" Ha I was looking this up today but it seems like there's not really any news about it anymore it just kind of died off.
I still think it would be a really awesome feature though if it were to spread around...

Fresh from the NYC HTC Event, My Opinions

Just got home from the HTC One announcement event and thought I would share my observations.
First here is the HTC page for the new phone: http://bit.ly/12HHcc9 if you want to go check out the specs and things.
Having used the phone, I can tell you, I was not sure I could go back to a smaller device since I have a DNA and am very comfy with the size. However, it fit the hand very well, and was not so much different that it bothered me.
The main home screen now has "BlinkFeed", which if you ever used FlipBoard is very similar. You go in and tell it what information you are interested in and it assembles a mosaic of blurbs from your social media and news sources for you to glance at. When you see something you like, you can tap it to get details. It seems to scroll on and on forever.
I'm not sure how much I like this, it'll be one of those things you have to try out to see how it sits with you. I have been told it can be disabled for those who don't care for it. On top of this, you also get 4 regular style home screens for shortcuts and widgets.
Sense is very clean now. Everything has been minimalistically styled for sleek looks and a very sexy overall appearance. I was very happy with the way things looked and how they came together.
And for those of you worried about it, the original Sense WeatherClock is still in there.
It does have NFC, but they seem to have left out Android Beam. I was told at lunch that it should be back in by release day. We will see.
The camera is also an innovation. Something called "UltraPixel". They did not give tech specs, but having used it, I can tell you it is truly beautiful. They also paired it with something called "Zoe" which is hard to describe, but you will love it. It takes your stills and videos, creates a 30 second mashup, sets it to music, and you can watch it right there on the fly. Check out this vid AndroidPolice made at the event: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_A5WXhzoCCA to better understand.
The phone has stereo front speakers and sound enhancement called "BoomSound". This really delivers a rich, full stereo sound that I was (for the first time on a phone) actually impressed with. You don't realize how bad your phone's speaker is till you hear something good.
They have added TV Remote software, which I did not try, but if you lose your remote, it could come in handy.
And finally, it has Sense Voice, which is supposed to let you make and hear calls, no matter how loud or cluttered the background noises are around you. Since the demo phones did not have service, I was unable to test that as well.
So there it is. Overall, I would say there are several major steps forward by HTC in this phone. You should definitely check it out when it hits the stores.

Fair enough. I do agree it is a killer phone. Probably just my jealousy of it not coming to Big V. Lol...
Is the iOS style 'rubber band' scrolling effect back? Its there on blinkfeed, but is it in settings menus etc?

I don't know what you mean, I've never touched an iPhone.

Good writeup Dsb.
Overal do you think Sense 5 is better than Sense 4.5?
There is a few things that I like about it, but I am happy with my DNA.
HtC DNA
XDA App
So I'm curious if the DNA will see this sense update and does anyone know if that zoe thing is just software out would it require certain hardware ?

I touched one once for like 3 minutes...it seems like it can't do anything. I like files...and downloading things and finding them in my download folder. I also didn't like all the squinting I had to do to see the screen.

Nice to hear your review, D. The size really concerned me because my DNA is borderline for me. I'd almost prefer a 4.7" 1080P screen. It seems *just* too wide for one hand typing while walking around holding a drink. I'll probably go check it out when they hit the stores, but I'm happy with my DNA and will likely stick with it.
is the carousel swiping of home screens still there because I saw a vid and it didn't look like it the carousel effect was still there but I could be wrong.
Is the DNA getting Sense 5? b/c that would be awesome and sense 5 prototype was spotted running on DNA? But prally not because VZW is a POS and needs a year+ to put on bloatware.

I REALLY doubt the DNA will see an offical sense 5. We will likely get a port though.
