[Q] Step by step guide maybe? - HTC Radar

So DFT have released a custom rom for the radar, I was wondering if someone could maybe post a step by step guide on how to install the custom rom. I am new to windows phones so I could really do with some help as I really need this rom because it fully unlocks the device.

Yeah +1
I agree...I'm too newbie to all this...have just purchased htc radar yesterday ( my first windows phone) i read the explaination of rom but didn't get that ....what is RUU and all other stuff? please help guys

I would also love for a quick step by step, I'm very familiar with rooting Android phones but Windows is new territory for me. Thanks in advance!

+1, I also need it!

I guess no one is listening us..... I'm new to htc and windows its my first htc and windows phone and i don't know a **** about it !!

Hey guys... It's more complicated than rooting an android, but the best step by step I have seen so far is this one by Drogonide. It is a post within the [DFT] HSPL for HTC WP7 Second Generation post:
Here you go --->
I haven't done it yet because I have a Macbook, and it's a no go without windows. It says Titan, but a couple Radar users also confirm the steps to work for them. Other than this, you're going to have to research. That goes double if you have to use a Y-cable and goldcard.
That's pretty much all I know so far, so I hope it helps. Hard bein a n00b!

is there any guide to goldcard?

actualy i followed the second post http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=26825741&postcount=2 (Installation for OMEGA) and it went well!
if you succeed in step 1., proceed to step 9.
i did that and got it!

Even if you get "Invalid vendor ID"?

Here is a link that has some other basic instruction on gold card.

Which ROM should I flash?
I have a factory unlocked radar. I don't want to risk bricking my phone, so just confirming.

Any Htc Radar user has tried the rom without using that y -cable and gold card method? I mean i don't wanna buy that so if there is other mehod?

I installed the rom without any y cable/gold card.

I put the phone into SPL mode but RomUpdateUtility says Error260 (Connection). It doesn't seem to detect my phone. :/
Even windows says unable to install driver once I plug in the USB in SPL mode.

Looks like you didn't install something important.
If you are using Windows XP, search and download ActiveSync on Microsoft website.
If you are using Windows Vista/7/8, search and download Microsoft Windows Mobile Device Center on Microsoft website.
Then your connection error should be solved.

x10a device ID

Hey guys so instead of flooding the root thread i thought id ask it here,
Having tried the "USB\Vid_0fce&Pid_adde\" in regedit and not finging anything i tried
looking for it under USB massive storage detailed section i have found what i think is a device ID...well the only difference is it doesnt end in _adde, it ends in _e12e in fact it looks like
USB\VID_0FCE&PID_E12E\CB511GSXQM
i have repaired my device using seus and still the same thing...could that be my device ID? its i believe 4 digits shorter than the one in the DeviceID.txt which has me confused a little. Im using winxp and not win7 which i think might be the reason for the _adde part but let me know what you guys think.
thanks

1.Download Sony Ericsson's official update tool,
2. Install and Open the update tool,
3. Turn off X10, and hold "return" buttom, and connect the usb cable
4. wait for update tool to recognize and check your X10.
5. then go back to regedit to find it.
In another word, let SE official update tools recognize your phone first.

Htc Hero restore original bootloader

Hi...
Can anybody help, my Display is dying at the moment, and i want to send it in for repair,
but i need to restore the original bootloader,
can anybody help, download link for the bootloader and manual,,instruction..
Many thanks
Markus
I think you can download the official firmware somewhere, when you flash it everything should be back to the way it was.
What version of firmware do you need? WWE? T-Mobile? Orange?
If it's the WWE 2.73 version - click here - This will restore the phone to factory settings including bootloader/ROM/Default Settings e.t.c
Hello,
I tried to flash the UCP cited for the same screen problem. I checked my windows drivers are correct (sync between the hero and the perfect pc). Every time I have the same error message, 170 which would normally be bad drivers, which should not be my case since retry several times. I mark the following 170: wrong version of bootloader. The same thing happens whether on a PC or XP win7.
Does anyone have a solution please??

Are you opening product code RM-801 or have you moved the firmware to a different folder? Not much can be done from the RM-801 folder.
I'm just having problems installing Nokia Care Suite. It gets so far and I get a 1220 error.
Any ideas?

It's some odd registry error, right? I think you just click through it. You'll have to navigate to the program folder to open the launcher. IIRC, that's what I had to do.

Do You ha e a screenlock code on the device. I had to remove my Outlook account, which requires a screenlock code, remove the code and then I was good to go.

This. In order for the Programming menu to be available, you need to select "Open Product" from the File menu and choose the correct product code (RM-819, RM-801, etc.).
My problem is I can never get passed the "Checking Mode" or "Starting" stage. I keep pressing the volume up button + insert USB cable until I feel a short vibration. After that, Windows will recognise my device as DLOAD and after a short while, the device restarts. Nokia Case Suite will then prompt me to unplug the USB cable, shutdown the device and do the volume up + insert USB cable routine again. Rinse and repeat. What did I do wrong? I am using Windows 7 64-bit.
EDIT: I solved my problems by going to the C:\Program Files (x86)\Nokia\Nokia Care Suite\Drivers\ directory and manually installing all the x64 drivers.
Im also having a few problems with NCS... i just figured I would piggy back off this thread rather than start a whole new one....
When installing I get a error that says.... "ERROR 1904.Module C:\Program Files (x86)\CommonFiles\nokia\Service Layer \C\Service Modules\ServiceModule_00003\msml4.dll failed to register" I hit ignore but now when i connect my phone to my PC... it isnt being recognized as DLOAD or QC or anything. I am at a loss... i went through and installed the drivers that were in the Nokia folder manually, except one it wouldnt install for some reason. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
I am having the same problem on my lumia 920. I didn't find a solution yet. This thread is the only thing I found so far.
Edit: I tried ncs on x64 w7 and x86 w8

White screen of death

Hi everybody,
i'm stuck on WSOD.
I stil can access bootloader, the red, green, blue, white screen.
It displays as follow:
PB81100 HX-BC
SPL-2.0.8.HSPL 8G XE
RIFFBOX 0x05
Any clue on how to get out of this?
Thanks in advance
bump!
is the phone bricked?
No its not bricked.
Download a stock ROM from the HTC support site for your country with your S/N,connect your HD2 while on the bootloader (colored screen) and start flashing the ROM.
I think you can also get the spesific ROM for your device from here at the ROM Development section.
Hi, htc site downloads only the latest rom, i can't find the section where to put a serial number... anyway, i've downloaded the latest one for my country and from the SD it stucks on grey screen "Loading..." from USB it stucks on 0% (black screen with loading bar and no HTC logo)
Do someone knows where the htc site accepts s/n for downloading?
Can you tell what version of HSPL and FW do you have ,and what is your original FW country?
Edit:

In this thread you can find the official stock ROM of your device.
1-download it to your PC.
2-Connect your phone to the computer.
3-Run the Active Sync.
4-Run the Downloaded ROM,I think its RUU,5- read and follow the on screen instructions.

I don't have a HSPL right now its a SPL 2.08.0000ii and the country is ITALY.
I've downladed the latest 3.14 rom from italian website and i've attached it by usb and tried to flash, stuck at 0%.
as far as I remember SPL 2,08 is not for the FW version 3.14 its for older ROM.

As for the point 2: how can i connect it to active sync if it does not boot?
i've tried all options of HSPL and it won't flash anything, any version 1.66, 2.08 or 3.03.
If you are on tri color screen the pc and Active Sync must be able to recognize it.
however if you cannot Flash the HSPL your only hope is that you Flash a stock official ROM of your Devices original country and to do that you must know the exact region for your FW.
Same also happened to me once,I discovered that my HD2 FW country was South East Asia !! so after downloading and flashin it evrything started working once again.
Anyway if it didnk work, just go to the below link and ask help there from a guy called Anthony, register or use you facebook account for faster reply,he ussualy hangs around there and is always willing to help.

Can't flash radio
Hi there,
After some different succesfull android installations I decided to do a task29. After that I couldn't flash the radio. Even with SD-method (renaming nbh-file on SD-card) I kept a white screen with HTC-logo, no RDG info on the buttom of my screen.
Then I flashed a stock winmo rom, succesfully. However, I want to go back to android. First think of checking some roms on SD. They all seem to get stuck on booting (or what ever). No progress, even after maybe 30 / 40 minutes. This is not normal, right?
I am reluctant to flashing any other stuff, scared of bricking my phone.
Can any one give me good advise? Like how I can get SD-roms to work for starters.
Thanks,
Mike

Error 801812DC while installing HTC update

Hello all
Today I got the notification of an update available from HTC for my unlocked Titan (on Three UK), currently on 8107.
Yet again another HTC update that does not tell what it is for, but I decide to install it anyway.
However, the update process fails every time with error 801812DC (see pictures attached), saying that there is a problem in the back-up of the phone.
Rebooting the phone, the computer and connect/disconnect did not help, always the same.
Also, this error is not included in the list on windowsphone.com.
Anyone with the same issue?
Thanks
maTTeo
EDIT: Solved. Probably I did not have enough space on disk for the backup.
EDIT2: No, not solved. Now I have space, but still same problem.

I got the update too!
I am installing it now - I am guessing it's the drivers fix for 8107 based on the back up creation steps it has followed. If I get the error, I will update it. I am on step 7. Hope this is a fix and not another lock down update!
HEADS UP: those who want custom ROM etc, DONT update just yet.
EDIT: At step 9 - my phone restarted. I unlocked the screen and it said 'Update successful'. However since last 7 minutes my Zune is stuck at step 9 and says 'restarting your phone'

Actually no. Thanks for the hint, this could have been the reason.
However, I tried again the update after closing a few applications (which were possibly using some space on disk), and the update was succesful.
Now after the update I realise I have only 6 Gb left on my C: drive.
Anyway, if that was the reason, why not to say: "Disk full" instead of "Error 801812DC"???? What does Microsoft expect from their users?
Thank you all for your support!

I am having the same error message. How much space did you free up?
I now have 11.3GB free on my C: drive and it is still not working. Same error every time.

How much space are you using on your phone? You need at min the same free space... If you can't then delete all the music etc to make the backup smaller

Tried a new cable and no joy, also deleted all the music off my phone. Really don't want to factory reset so might wait for another update to come out.
Again, 801812DC
And here I am again, Tango update, same problem.
So I can confirm it was NOT due to lack of hard drive space. Now I have 30 Gb free on my hard drive, and 6 Gb of memory used on my Titan. Still, 801812DC.
Anybody figured a solution?

Thanks habnzrot, but unfortunately no, even after installing Bootloader 2.6 from HTC, same problem. Backup interrupts at 11%, phone restarts and error.
Any help?

Ok, really tried everything now, including:
- Updating SPL to 2.6 (latest available from HTC)
- Unliking the phone to Zune
- Reinstalling Zune and pairing the phone again
- Deleting the folder "Windows Phone Backup" as suggested by someone on the internet
- Running Zune as Administrator
- Deleting most of the apps from the phone
- Creating even more disk space on my computer
- Using another USB cable (instead of the stock HTC USB cable)
I phoned HTC support, and their solution is hard reset. If, after that, still does not work, I have to send my phone to repair.
Obviously I would like to leave hard reset as last option.
I noticed so many other people have the same problem:
http://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/...&CurrentScope.Filter=wp7&askingquestion=false
But no-one can answer. I wonder:
- Why this error code is not included in the web page I am sent to, by Zune, to check the error code?
- There must be ONE guy at Microsoft, who implemented this error code. Why they are not answering and telling us what it is?
I am very frustrated.
Cheers

Have you tried updating with another computer?
Also, try this:

1. Run services.msc (If you're using Windows XP, press Start, click Run, type services.msc then press Enter. If you're using Windows Vista or later with no Run in the Start menu, type services.msc in the search box then press Enter.)
2. Look for the "Automatic Updates" service, make sure it is started. If not, start it. Change its startup type to Automatic.
3. Look for the "Background Intelligent Transfer Service" service, make sure it is started. If not, start it. Change its startup type to Manual.
4. Look for the "Automatic Updates" service, make sure it is started. If not, start it. Change its startup type to Automatic.

I don't have the "Automatic Updates" in the list, while "Background Intelligent Transfer Service" is already started.
Thanks,
Matteo

Tried on a different machine, with a fresh installation of Windows 7 and Zune. Same problem, process interrupts while backing up the phone at 13%. Then phone restarts and update fails. This time, however, the error code is 80070026
