install cpu spy to see if your phone goes in deepsleep or not
Install betterbattystats and see which apps are causing wakelocks and how long your phone is active while screen is off.
you can download it here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1179809
After one night running these apps, post some screenshots of it here (graphs of betterbatterystats and wakelocks)
You can find the graphs by going to betterbatterystats --> settings --> more --> history

Flashing roms you say?
What I've noticed, is that after flashing my phone to a different rom, it screws with the battery calibration. What happened with mine, was that I flashed a rom whilst the battery was at 50% and after the flash, it assumed that was 80%.
Have a shot at recalibrating the battery using an app called 'Battery Calibration' by NeMa, it's available on the Google Play store. Sorry that I couldn't post links, I'm still at a low post count
Let me know the results.

ok guys i'll try ur two ways
and i'll tell u my experience
thank u ..

there isn't any problem with your battery at all
your phone enters deep sleep very well , just to know
3g is battery eater , it can drain your battery about 4-5% in only 15-20 min
also decrease the screen brightness as higher brightness will drain your battery very fast , don't worry about your phone or battery
also if you want to save some % , underclock your cpu&gpu
and you may also undervolt , and try diffrent kernels
btw : the battetycalibration app can't do any thing with our battery chip , it is usefull only for other phones , our phone has a diffrent chip
the best way to calibrate your battery , just turn you phone off , and charge it tell 100% , remove your battery from it for about 2 min , then put iy again , and now it is well calibrated , or you can only charge the phone as normal and it will calibrate itself

first of all calm down. shouting gets you nowhere.
I'm afraid if he's telling you he's getting a solid 12hrs with constant 3g usage then he's lying, simple as that.
if I use the net on my fone using 3G then I can see the battery going down as I use. 12 hours is nonsense

Hi
I got my s2 a week ago. I use it all stock, version is IML74K.XWLPD.
For me android-os is a big post in my battery-log. If I just leave the phone on the table for some time android-os can be as high as 80%. Is this a bug or something? I checked my friend's battery-log on his s2 and he didnt even have android-os post in his list...
I have installed both betterbatterystats and battery monitor widget to see if any app is causing this. Then I saw the processes kworker00,kworker01, kworker02, kworker03...I dont know what this process is. Anyone have any idea? Maybe this is my problem.
I also installed watchdog but everything seemed to be ok.
Thanks

[Q] Serious Battery Drain

I really have a bad battery drain, I fully charged my new Samsung Galaxy S2 from 0% battery to 100% when it was off (after a calibration).
I have set all tips for battery consuming etc, etc.. I installed BetterBatteryStats and it seems like gtalk_async_conn (Google Services) used 17% of the battery in the last 40 minutes.
Is there anything I can do to disable this? I disabled the sign-in in Gtalk settings, but it's still wasting my battery.

It's not in the list, I can't find "Google services" either.
Here is a screenshot, I can't find anything about this service / process. How do I freeze it? I do not use Gtalk.

if you are using BetterBatteryStats no need for an own thread, there's one already (use search).
In your OP you mixed count and percent, your problem is more than gtalk if your consumption is as you said.
following the hot-to for bbs start with giving us some details about awake and screen on but do yourself a favor, let a mod close this thread and post your questions together with the missing info in the right thread.

GTalk has not used 17% as you mistakenly believe. It has used only 3.6% as per your attached screenshot. So GTalk is not the only service responsible for your battery drain.
That said, it is a fact acknowledged by almost all the owners of SGS II that Low Battery Life and Low Volume of sound output are the two sore points of this phone. Samsung should seriously do something to improve Battery Life and Sound volume of this phone. Hope something comes up in the next updates.
Maps also should be running. Must be also one of the reasons.
And juice defender also consume battery.

3 days???? Which ROM? A lot of people exaggerate here. I'm on CF Rooted stock KF3 with 200+ apps and it lasts for only about 18 hours in normal usage.
i also want to see that 3 day....
Yup juice defender is nothing if you know what your doing.
Example : if you an app and minimize it it will be running in background if you wont be using the app for quite awhile kill the app using task killer. If example you use facebook app. And you u are using it frequently but you kill it and reopen it. It will consume more battery. Only kill app that you wont use.
And disable data went not using and use 2g network when not using data.

i guess we are in the same boat then, better battery stats also show me nothing suspicous,
with little to normal use, my s2 can hardly go for 6 to 7 hours, everything off, only 3g on..
that is on stock rom, im now testing CM7 build 38
Charged 100% go recovery wipe battery stats..
It take sometime for the bateery to function properly.. a day or two.. so after the calabaration let it go to nearly 10% then charge till 100% without disturbing it.

most definitely, i was a big fan of Juice Defender Ultimate but the reality is it actually uses up almost as much as it saves, this was pointed out to me and it is 100% true, since i froze it yesterday im having superb battery life my phone wont die until tomorrow i estimate ill get up to around 40 hours with about 1 call, 15/20 texts and medium internet usage, and some music so far and ive 47% left, the battery was charged to 100% at 23.50 last night and i left it on all night with data enabled and the drain was only 6% in almost 8 hours..

I assume you are playing a lot wiht your new phone which drains battery because of the display. You should start tweaking display settings as xperia phones usually dont have auto brightness (dont know about Ray thou). Also get rid of that task killer but instead get memory tweaker or V6 super charger if you have root permissions. Try changing from 3g to 2g. As 3G coverage is not that good in India, you ll end up draining more battery even when idle.
Spare parts has auto brightness apk should work but I get 3 days out the neo so you should atleast get 24 hours

Moving this to General-Q&A section as I don't see any development here. It looks its related to other device model even.
I will move some others and try to keep development section only for development.
I think it will be good for everybody. Any help is always appreciated.
Regards,
I'm having an issue where phone idle is taking up about 50% of the battery drain on my phone. I left it on overnight on flight mode, and half of the battery vanished over the course of about 7 hours.
Anybody know any fixes, or related issues?

i have the same issue
when i opened the battery use menu, it shows THIS !!!
(i have charged it to 100%, disconnected charger, few minutes on stand by, had a phone call, stand by again...
after "that" time [more than an hour] the battery is spontaneously draining itself with EVERYTHING OFF {wifi, 3g, data, sync, gps, etc... !!!!)
the screenshot :
1h 16m 22s on baettery
Contacts 55% (!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!)
Display 22%
Voice calls 8%
cell standby 6%
phone idle 6%
Dolphin Browser HD 2%
and in general everytime i recharge my phone, >50% of usage is to CONTACTS !!!
the phone drains on standby as if i was playing a game !!!!!!!
Hi guys - I'm sorry I dont have a solution but I will add something that I've recently experience with my Xperia Neo.
I move around alot within my job - travelling constantly around the city between 5-100km every hour or so and I noticed that during this time my phone's battery was below what I expected - it would last 12 hours and it would NEED to be put on charge.
I asked a friend of mine what he thought and he suggested turning off the 3G setting and selecting 2G only. This is the fix we tried and it appears to have worked.....but...
if only it was that easy - my phone appears to have come from China and so I actually didnt have a menu option to select 3G - the only option was 3G and nothing else, so I had to flash the phone with international firmware to get the menu option.
Settings>wireless and networks>mobile networks>network mode = GSM only

I also did factory reset but still same prob.
It also freezes when I play Asphalt 6 or force closes somtimes.
Plz help me and suggest me what to do , m really frustruated.
Thanks
Can you post information about the firmware version, battery stats (Settings -> Battery) and take a screenshot of what it looks like, what programs you have installed and what kernel you are using.

by reading your frist sentense that you charge your phone 2-3 times aday i would say that , it is ubnormal in any way , but reading your second one , now i know why do you do that
firstly : playing anu game will drain your battery from 3-5% in 5 min , it is normal dear because , you almost run your phone with it's max freq, and may be also the gpu max freq , this will drain your battery , and may be make your phone hot
you can underclock your cpu and/or gpu , so that you can save some % of battery but i will not give you like play for 1 hour and lose only 3%
also you can uv your cpu "be carefull here"
secondly : dont use your phone as a gameboy machine , this will empty your battery in almost 5-6 hours and may be less , try o use your phone normaly such as 30 min gaming , browsing internet "2-3 hours" . texting , chating
and you will see that your phone will last you aday at least m my phone gives me 1d and 16 hours with 3.15 hours screen on and browsing with 3g for about 2-hours , and about 30 min gaming , my combination is "cm9-my fluxi kernel"
my cpu
100-1000 " may be 800 in some cases "
uv by -50

Install 'Quick System Info' and get a look to the processus tab.
Perhaps one of them takes a lot of CPU because it is not ICS compliant.

Correct me if I'm wrong: from your post #5 I can see that your phone used at most 1/3 of the battery to run approximately 16 hours? Making an educated guess your battery should last for 48 hours.
Tow days without recharging(!): you should be very
I have found that since I upgraded to ICS Dolphin browser uses a ton of battery. If you don't exit out of it the CPU keeps chugging away at 15-30% or more depending on how many tabs you have open.

He wasn't talking to you... post 5 was rishabhssj0's.
As far as you're concerned, it looks to me that your battery is only dropping while your screen is on. 79% screen usage, center image the battery drops only while the screen is on and the phone is awake, and is otherwise level when the phone is sleeping and the screen is off.
If you're constantly using the phone with the screen on, no battery in the world is going to last forever. I can easily drain my battery in 5 hours if I use it constantly. On the other hand, if I actually let it hit deep sleep, it can last nearly 2 days. It all depends on your usage patterns.

And % remaining?
My statement still stands. You're using the phone, keeping the screen on. Doesn't matter if you turn the brightness down, it still drains battery.
Try an experiment. Actually DON'T keep using the phone for a while. Try not turning on the screen every 5 seconds for like a day. Then look at your battery usage and your screen on time.

[Q] Battery going old?

Hey, my phone has been bought in on September 2011.
I noticed battery keeps my phone shorter than it's been before.
Is it either by ICS or battery is just getting old and less reliable?
I use XWLPG and my hourly battery usage is about 0.8% to 1.4% (battery monitor).
Sometimes after I unplug from charger and keep phone alone, battery usage is about 0.1%... dunno why and how....
I use only few background apps:
- network type marker (to show I am in either 3G or 2G)
- TotallRecall for call recording
I know in GB I could unplug phone for night and by few hours I could loss max 1-2 percent (sometimes even 0% by 6 hours).
Now I lose usually 5-7%.
Do you have similar symptoms in your phones?

hey pal i also bought my s2 during the same period and my batt is good enough even now
u have to check which apps is causing the batt drain for u since in ICS, also turn off ur data connection when not in use since they also cause heavy batt drain
u can try Better battery app from store to see the wakelocks that is causing batt drain
ps- before all change ur modem and see
There are a couple of reasons why your battery is performing like that.
Some of my friends have reported lesser battery life when they switched to ICS, even when running the exact same apps. So you might want to try different ICS firmwares/roms to see if that will make a difference. Although, I'm using XWLPG also and it drops ~7% overnight. Same as your's.
Also, if you find that your battery levels are wack, then you might have a faulty battery. On my GNote, I sometimes have to push the battery upwards while turning the phone on so that the contacts touch. I think that it may have been due to constant charging (may be wrong) So, yes, there is a possibility that your battery is getting 'old'.

I don't use data connection and use same apps like in GB. I did check and deep sleep works, wakelocks test will have to wait till tomorrow when I charge battery fully^^

Hmm I am glad to hear you've got similar power drain during night. Perhaps ICS is really more powerhungry than GB. I will test in Better battery app for wakelocks occurence.
I don't know how and in what way the battery monitor reliable can be, especially when I see hourly battery drain. Generally sometimes I see power drain at 0.1-0.2%, sometimes at 1% but in same time CPU was doing nothing... (deep sleep).
I found Camera eats a lot of power compared to GB... or it is only my imagination
OK I checked Better Battery Aps but frankly dunno how to read values.
I have such thing:

those screen shot do not provide the complete picture unless u post the BBS log file
for the same open BBS app press soft menu key once to enter BBS settings there u select More> Dump to file
then u find the log file created in ur internal sdcard u post the same to analyse it
also u can get more info on wake locks in the link below and u can also post ur log file there for the OP of the thread to analyse it and suggest remedy

[Q]{Problem found!} Very Big problem wih battery drain

Hello X10 users,
Since very long time I can't leave my phone over the night because the battery is being drained extremely by the phone processes.
I'm currently on TUG ROM with Semc Debrand Engine Kernel.
Ive noticed the problem very long time ago, when I had all apps installed.
Here are some screenshots when I had all of the apps installed. It's the battery usage over night.

So I decided to wipe everything from my phone and leave it clean for the night and that's what came up.
Everything is being drained by deactivated phone. It was in FLIGHT MODE. So what the hell is happening.
To compare. I had my friend's phone, also X10 with completely clean DonutHD 2.2.8 ROM and it had no SIM card. Wen I left it over night the battery drain was NONE. It hasn't even changed for 1%. The diagram was completely flat.
Do You have any explanation for it? Should I try other ROM?
You should try other Rom, I had pretty same problem with ICS roms. So I changed it to MM CM 7.2 http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=25086089
And I played with my phone for a while and it was 44% and I woke up and saw 48%.

I tried today also DonutHD 2.2.9 ROM and it didn't help much. However after i took out my SD card and put that back in the battery drain stopped for now. I'll post later if it has changed or not
Your battery drain is bcoz of deepsleep issue....I had also experienced the same issue on TUG rom...
Install cpuspy app and check whether it goes into deep sleep mode or not..
If not, then change the cpu governor and wipe dalvik cache and reboot.

Ok I will let You know tomorrow how the usage states are. For now on I have no Overclocking app so the governor is default (ondemand?).
Normally I use smartassv2

Have u checked stock rom?
But it looks like theres no deep sleep cause idle drains lot of battery.
Sprawdź na oryginalnym romie GB i standardowym kernelu.

Deep Sleep works just fine. Now the battery usa was bettery, but still not the best. I don't know where the problem is.

was the phone in airplane mode for this time? if not the drain is due to having no signal.
Pvy.
Best bet is to flash new rom and kernel

Yep, I was also thinking about it. I made a thread about battery I'm interested about, but no answers. It is a gold one 2430mah.
What do You think about it?

Already tried. Sometimes it just uses so much battery and sometimes the drain stops. Don't know what's wrong
Think its time for a new battery

The battery drain can be caused by many reasons:
+ runninh apps in bg: some apps just dare to run while phone should sleep (over night ), like facebook, it seems to run all the time (a reason to delete it and use fast for facebokk or whatever), others like googelmail or weather refresh all five minutes.... Solution: delete all apps you dont need, or set that actualisation rate.to as minimal as possible, you can download zdbox, its a great tool, with it you can set that all apps get shutdown when you lock your screen.
+ it could also be caused by a deep sleep problem (i also had it sometimes, appears after installing a new rom or flashing sonetging without wiping, or whatever i am no expert), that means that your phone doesnt go into deepsleep when you shut the screen down, and the cpu runs on in 128mhz, what costs lots of batttery.... proof this theory by downloading cpuspy, and look after one night how much it was in deepsleep, if its less deepsleep than 128, you have a deepsleep problem, fix it by wipin cache partition and dalvik, then set another governor and reboot
+ could be caused by the phone searching for the best signal, thats the thing on my phone that causes most battery drain (~35%), its just the phone searching for a gokd signal, if thats away, it searchrs and searches all the time - costs massively battery. I your diagramm it should be called mobilestandby (by the way, the curves in signal diagramm are an indivator for unstable signal) (something like that) for solution there is a free app in the market, called battery saver (you will find more than one app, look in description, there should be mentioneđ this problem)
+ Could be a big poisoned mixturw of all these reasons....
I recommend you to try all those solutions (maybe try cpuspy first, im sure its that reason)
It could also be that your phobe just f*cked up like mine, i am having hard battery drain while using my phone (7%lost only by writing this article hope for you thats its another thing)

Thanks for Your reply but I already found a problem. The battery is just f*cked up. I've changed it with my friend and everything was normal.
Now I only have to buy a new one
