[Q] No shutter sound - Galaxy S III Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

My S3 has made the shutter sound from day one. Today, suddenly, it has become completely silent. I am not in silent/airplane mode, and under volume, none are muted.
How do I get it back?

Sorry - forget this. It has come back.

Do you know how you removed it. I'm assuming I'll have to silence the phone to get rid of it......I hate having to do that.

Random notification sound and vibration

Hello all. I have noticed that several times a day my phone will vibrate and the notification sound will play. I look at the phone and i do not have any message. I know it's not roaming because I am right in front of a cell site and have great signal. I did a search and found that folks were having this issue with a yahoo mail app, yet I do not have this app. I am on stock with the latest OTA (until new root comes out). Any ideas? I guess i can live with it as everything else works, but I'm worried that a message might be coming through and i'm missing it.

I would have to go through HTC to unlock the bootloader though correct? Want to keep this off the grid as much as possible.

Well when the facebook notifications happen i typically see an icon. I went ahead and disabled the notifications anyways and i'll see where i'm at in a few days I guess.
I am married, but I can say that if a woman of mine ever made a pro twilight post, I would remove her from my life.
unfriended with extreme prejudice! My Facebook notification was pretty sporadic, sometimes it would only appear for the length of time the vibration was happening.
So far, no vibrations. Maybe that was it...
I have had similar issues when I had the Yahoo mail app installed. You can turn off system notifications but it still makes the sound. I since just use the default mail app so not sure if it's still an issue.

GS3 Increased volume via root and I want to get my camera shutter sound back

I really like how much my ringer volume has actually increased.
Just two qualms really;
I didn’t really want to get rid of the camera sound.
I also didn’t want to get rid of the touch sound (plays a sound when making a screen selection).
Can anyone help me get these two features back without actually removing the increased speaker volume?
I am new to Android so forgive me for being dumb.
I downloaded the 63_sound_mod_update.zip from the following website and installed it via ClockworkMod (CWM):
http://www.jayceooi.com/2012/06/24/how-to-increase-samsung-galaxy-s3-speaker-volume-to-maximum/
If anyone can help me out, I will be very grateful to you
Thank you in advance.

Disable Camera Sound?

First of all, you should probably know:
- It is rooted
- I renamed the camera click .ogg sound files using ROM toolbox pro, but the camera app still makes the shutter sound
Is there any way to disable the camera shutter sound? I've been scouring the internet for solutions and thought rooting my phone would do the trick, but now I can't seem to be able to even accomplish this task with root. Any help would be GREATLY appreciated, thanks in advance guys
in many states its against the law to disable the shutter sound, so someone knows when you are taking a picture of them..most roms do not allow you to turn this off, but, some do..

What ^^^^ Said......g
Its a huge problem in Japan. Its called "up-skirt". Creepy guys taking pics of ladies panties on the sly. Hence no removing shutter sound. Then again who's gonna notice if you record video? Nonetheless illegal. Check your local laws but I doubt if anyone can definitively give you an answer

Barin Voicemail Question

So I'm running Barin (2.3), which I love. I do have a quick question and I'm not sure if this is normal or not but when someone leaves me a voicemail I get no icon for it. I have to call myself after someone calls to see if they left a message, there's no notification for it. Is this a normal thing with ROMs? Or can I download something to get my voicemail icon back? It's not a big deal if I can't, I would just like to know when someone leaves me a message, I'm a bit new to ROMs, so this may be a normal thing, just wanted to ask.
Thanks for any help on this.

Did it work right before the update?
It's never been the same for me since they added that avatar crap.
I usually have to manually go into the app to get my voicemail. I usually disable most of the stuff in it, maybe that's why?
Maybe adjust your settings and see what happens.
I don't think it's the ROM. I THINK it's the app. $2.99 a month and you can have this free service. Lol
Have yall tried youmail? Works better than stock, can customize greetings per person. Bypasses your carrier voicemail. Notifications work very well.

I'm still on 2.2, but VM notification is working fine for me.
Yea I got it working, for some unknown reason it wasn't set up even through I did it when I first installed Barin, probably just a Sprint voicemail glitch. Oh well, it's working now, that's all that matters.
Thanks for the help.

[Solved] How to disable the "beep" sound when changing Volume?

How do I disable the "beep" sounds when changing the volume using the volume rocker? My device is a rooted Dell Venue 8 3830. I tried to find the ogg file in system/media/audio/ui so I could delete it, but it wasn't there :crying: .

It din't work. No touch sounds, but the beeps still persist. Thanks for the suggestion though.
NP I just searched like crazed man to no avail. Going to try a Trump card and see.
Edit: Nice mystery sound. OK going to go deeper.
Edit 2: It's not .ogg or .mp3 but I think it's somewhere in a file. Like in a jar¿ this is my new ocd issue. I'm going to sleep before I tear apart the whole ROM and break something.
Glad to know you're still looking into it. Right now I'm trying to figure out if messing with the values in the files below will help me. The last two seems to be related to the overall sound quality, volume, sample-rate conversion, routing and stuff like that. But I'm hopeful about the first one though.
/system/etc/parameter-framework/Settings/Audio/AudioConfigurableDomain.xml
/system/etc/asound.conf
/system/etc/asound-vv.conf

Might be able to silence it from the top file. Just skimmed through it. Will look into it in the morning. Long day today and start class's tomorrow for at&t tier 1-2, so I'm getting my season binge finished tonight, the incredible hulk and smash squad! I'm still brushing up on my code but that first file will get a good look early afternoon tomorrow. Left my laptop plug at home today. Feel kind lame for doing that, lol. You're on the right track tho! It's getting annoying when I'm adjusting music volumes. Didn't know it did it there too.
Solution
Finally found an easy solution:
1. Install Xposed Framework, if you already haven't and then install the latest GravityBox[KK].
2. Open Gravity Box, go to "Media Tweaks".
3. Tick the option "Mute Volume Adjust Sound"
4. That's it. [No restart required]
I recently updated GravityBox[KK], and saw this option.
Thanks a lot devs of GravityBox. :highfive:
