I have a aluminium apple bluetooth keyboard. When I connect it to my tablet I put in the passcode to pair it and then check the box to use it as an input device, but when I go to type anywhere it doesn't do anything and the touchscreen keyboard comes up. I have tried the tablet with a wired keyboard, which works fine.
Thats odd. Ive paired mine as you and when i press any key the internal keyboard goes off. Are you sure you have set it up as the default keyboard?
How do I do this? In language and input I can only choose standard keyboard as the default.
YOU must type the correct Numbercode and hit the Enter Button on the Keyboard. This works i hope

I have an Apple Bluetooth Keyboard and want to use it with my Xperia Tablet S 32gb,
I input the 4 digit code and it pairs, but it doesn't input anything. Strangely, it works on my Xperia S mobile phone!
I posted here about it! http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1908522
If you have any ideas, please can you post for me?

Hey there, I do believe this comes down to incompatibilities with the version of bluetooth supported. Eg my my bluetooth mouse works on my laptop and galaxy s 2, but not my tablet s. My bluetooth key board which I know to be bluetooth 2.0 works fine on all. No idea what the mouse is, it was just a cheapo one with limited specs available. Wroks great on compatible devices though
Hi DreadPirateDan!
thanks for your reply,

I understand a bit about Bluetooth Human Interface Device Profile (HID) and wonder if some genius has worked out a way to get these to work together..
But guess I will have to give up! I have the case with keyboard for the Xperia Tablet S but the viewing angle is not good for me. Maybe I will find a cheap Bluetooth keyboard.
The Sony one - http://www.sony.co.uk/product/other-sony-tablet-accessories/sgp-wkb1 is a bit too pricey!

The Tablet S doesn't support Apple Bluetooth keyboard is because the kernel excluded module hid-apple. You can root your tablet to support it.

I not sure whether to root yet. Only experience is with my Samsung 7" tablet, and that must be 2 years ago now...
Then I am not sure how to add the correct Bluetooth profile!
Lots of reading and research to do!

The Galaxy Player 5.0 appears to have bluetooth HID. I was able to pair and connect with a bluetooth keyboard - got a pin number to enter on the physical keyboard and got instant pairing. The keys work, and the one I have also controls the volume and starts and stops and moves ahead videos and songs. So, the mini keyboard is like a remote control for the device as well!
Can You post a link to the keyboard you bought, I was thing about getting one (mainly for ssh)
Bump, also interested to know which keyboard you used.
Most of the bluetooth keyboards that I see say they are for Iphone, Ipad, Ipod T. Is there any reason that these would not work with the SGP?
SGP 4.0 confirmed working with a PALM brand bluetooth keyboard.
Generally speaking, as long as the Bluetooth keyboard supports HID (as opposed to SPP) it should work. Function buttons may not work as advertised, and CTRL / ALT / SHIFT combinations may be slightly weird, but those issues can be addressed by changing the KEYLAYOUT file. A decent write up is here:
*sigh* I can't post links because I'm new. . . Bear with me here.

Based on this then the keyboards that say they work with Iphone which I have learned is HID should work with the SGP.
Can you post link to buy it and image of it? Thanks
Hey guys,
I just bought an SGP5 and after reading this post, tested my logitech BT Kybd.
It worked like a champ.
This is the kybd I used. I am also able to use the kybd with my SGS2.

The requirements for that keyboard includes Honeycomb and up, I'm just glad it worked on Gingerbread for you.

Cogratulations you invented the laptop.
I used to use Magic-Pro ProMini keyboard with my PC. It turns out that it works fine with galaxy player as well.
Is this a case or just a bluetooth keyboard.
Its good for tablets but not to mini tablet...

with our sony tablet s works only the sony keyboard or any other bluetooth keyboard?
Most Certainly
I use a Logitech bluetooth keyboard, and it works just fine... However, it doesn't take much to get interference. At my school, old wires that lay around actually disturb the signal, even though the keyboard is directly in front of my tablet.
so every bluetooth keyboard will work?
I bought one from my local Asda store in the uk. It stated that it worked on both ipad and Android. Problem is that sometimes I get repeating letters due to the bluetooth connection. I also bought a cheap bluetooth keyboard off Amazon and that worked pretty good.
D.
How do I get a Bluetooth keyboard to work? I paired via Bluetooth and it's recognized as input device put o can't type with it or choose it under language&input, only standard and Google voice typing is there.

Just like Sirence, I can pair and connect my keyboard (cheap ebay keyboard), but can't get it to work.
Do we have to use some soft ?
(Using Android 4 not rooted)
I have been trying to get my freedom universal keyboard to connect on a few seperate occasions. In spp I can see it and get prompted to pair. In hid I do not see it to pair. What protocol are you using? Anyone happen to have success with this one or any apps or tricks that helped?

Tablet S doesn't support Apple-like keyboard as the kernel exclude the hid-apple module
root you Tablet S to support it.
Hey XDA
I bought myself the K400 keyboard (for use in lectures), and it works great via OTG on the S3.
My question is, as I'm in the UK, and got the UK keyboard layout K400, I was wondering if there is a setting I'm missing, in relation to having the £ € keys on SWYPE Beta.
I seem to be able to get the £ symbol with the stock samsung keyboard, but not with Swype beta (even though my languages are all set to ENGLISH UK).
Any help would be appreciated, oh and a video of the K400 will come soon !
Video showing what I mean:

hey bro!
That's the English UK Swype layout (which I am using too)
It is actually wrong, by swype that is, to put the $ sign in the numbers menu, rather than the £ symbol.
I might report that to Swype as an improvement lol

I know where those symbols are lol, but that doesn't help me.
As the keyboard doesn't pick up the £ sign on swype.

I am looking to buy one of these for use with my Asus TF700 and Galaxy Note 2.
Here comes my stupid question (I'm new to android): I'm curious why you need the OTG adapter if the GS3 already has bluetooth connectivity built in. I was hoping to connect the Asus and the Note2 to my TV, then use this bluetooth keyboard while sitting on the couch. Is this possible?
Thanks for the video too

Because in this case, for me - the keyboard isn't a Bluetooth keyboard - well by that I mean, without the adaptor via OTG it won't work - be it on a laptop that has Bluetooth, or my phone.
If you have a Bluetooth speaker, keyboard or whatnot, then yes, it should work with your S3
As for your connection - I don't know if it will work or won't - google around, se what you find in relation to that, and your particular TV.

I guess I dont quite understand (sorry!). Isnt the keyboard a bluetooth device? Why cant it simply link through the internal bluetooth adapter that's built into the phone? My whole goal is to use the MHL port to connect to the TV, then use the bluetooth keyboard to control it from the couch.
From the video, it looks like you are plugging in the bluetooth transmitter into the MHL port, why is that?
Thanks for all the help!

Mine isn't - yours might be.
They keyboard only communicates to that little device, not via bluetooth.

Haha no worries.
Yeah Bluetooth keyboards should work properly, although I can't attest to it.
I also have this keyboard, but with the german keyboard layout to use it with my tv (sammy es6900) and my s3, but when I plug in my keyboard over usb-otg the keyboard layout changes automatically to the standard sammy layout, wtff?

Has anyone used bluetooth keyboard and mouse with this phone?
L9 doesn't support usb otg, well at least the kernel doesn't. If you know what I mean.

I know it doesn't but my question is about bluetooth.
I tried bluetooth keyboard, everything works great. Don't know about the bluetooth mouse. Why do you need it?

A small desktop in your hand!
Just one thing about keyboard... The softkeys of the phone are mapped in a strange way and i have to search the right combination for a while

use pc for mouse Sorry.... was kidding.
As per L9 spec... we have BlueTooth Version 4.0 (GAP, A2DP, AVRCP, FTP, HFP, HSP, OPP, SPP, PBAP,HID). You can use almost any device which supports these standards. Any BT Device which can be recognized as Human Interface Device (HID) can be used, including mouse. It will work exactly like your old BT keyboard with old phone. No change.
VIDEO FOR KEYBOARD HERE
The fact is nobody asked this for mouse before, hence you are first person (in my life) who is interested in connecting mouse to touchscreen smartphone. You can go ahead and make a history....
Here are some BT Mouse.... http://www.ebay.com/sch/i.html?_trksid=p5197.m570.l1313&_nkw=bluetooth+mouse&_sacat=0&_from=R40

Anyone else having issues trying to connect their Bluetooth Keyboard and Mouse at the time same? Seems like I never had the problem before the 4.4.2 update which kinda sucks. Think KitKat might have broken multiple bluetooth at the same time connectivity...
On the ATT 4.4.2 Galaxy Mega.
I'm interested in using a bluetooth mouse on my galaxy mega, but i can't find it on phisical stores... just online!
The bluetooth mouse is great just can't use the keyboard at the same time. Guess I should can get a keyboard that has a built in track pad.
oh, i didn't know i can't use 2 bluetooth devices at the same time... at this point, as you said, a solution could be a keyboard with built-in trackpad. thanks!
Well it's a bit buggy because I can use my Pebble smart watch and mouse fine just having issues with the mouse and keyboard
