if you wait for a new phone, then the new galaxy wll be out before your contract ends and youll really really want that one!!
Good phone. high specs. but it's down to YOUR buget... do you want a expensive hih end phone? or will a phone at a cheaper price do?
Just got the SGS II. Had an S I before. SII is amazing. No lag on any games. Quadrant scores are 3500 plus or 4000 plus if you over clock it.
Its fast smooth with excellent functionality

These threads amuse me. Here's 5 phones, pick one. And asking in the SGS2 section no less. That's like asking a bunch of Mac owners if they should buy a Mac or a PC.
Clearly you're open to a new carrier because you're choosing between 5 phones. If you had to stay with a specific carrier, that already cuts your choices down to 2 or 3 since the SGS2 and Sony handsets don't support the same 3G bands as the HTCs. Your country will factor in as well since launch availability, pricing, and local carrier discounts will incentivize some phones over others.
Those are just some of the considerations that don't even have anything to do with the phones themselves. Of those 5 choices, how many here have had 20 minutes hands-on with more than 2 of them? I haven't. Most of the opinions here will likely come from hours of aggregating editorial reviews. While those are valuable in their own way, asking a forum pales in comparison to doing that research on your own. Also, you can bet that almost no one here has played with a Sensation yet.
OP, I don't mean to be a douche but nobody here will offer a more meaningful opinion than one you could come up with on your own.

If you want a future proof phone say atleast for a year or two..
then the SGS 2 and Sensation are your best bet..
SGS2- you will be able to root and make sure you have the latest software thansk to XDA
Sensation - will not be able to root yet (locked bootloader) until some brilliant XDA members manages to crack it
I am considering the Sensation as I feel I hopefully wouldn't need to root it for atleast a year or two by which time somebody might have cracked its boot loader
The milestone has been out almost 2 years and the bootloader is still not cracked

I can get a high end phone price isnt a issue just need a phone which can last for a year or two, should be durable i am not a fan of rooting devices so i dont really need that until it is necessary to meet the techonolgy in shape of updates.
Sony phones look like toys with good feature, HTC looks solid, i have Samsung Wave at the moment though it has great features but the Bada OS which is not cracked yet, so i want to try Android now.
So far by reading reviews, user comments, watching videos i have found SGSII best but on the other hand there are people complaining about battery, sound, lag, reboots etc etc which is really confusing.
Note: I am from Pakistan so contract thing doesnt work here, i will get a Sim Free phone by paying full price of it thats why it is really necessary to do a research and ask for guidance.
How about the Google Nexus S (made by Samsung).
Always reqcieved the latest Android updates straight from Google.
Very stable.
NFC reader.
Many Custom ROMs.
Identical hardware to the Samsugn Galaxy S i9000 (4" AMOLED i9020, or sLCD i9023)
The phone feels like a phone in your hands.
No lag unlike the Samsung i9000.
About 350 Euros last time I checked.
handtec.co.uk post internationally.
Sadly, no microSD card, no FM Radio. Lacks some hardware enabled codecs for video, but still plays most and can play other formats using software decoding.
The hardware of Nexus S isnt outdated ? I guess most of the future applications will support dualcore phones.
Have mine for two days now and I must say this one of the best phones I got my hands on.
Battery life is amazing. Camera it's amazing.samsung's email client and screen is fantastic.
And 1.2ghz dual prossessor is so so fast.. Can't even compare to htc vision oc 1.8ghz cm7.

We get it, your battery life sucks. Take a look at your apps, because the majority of users say the battery life is great. I've done no tweaking except freezing a few hubs, everything still syncs in the background and I'm sitting on 92% now, unplugged at 7am this morning. (It's now 2:20pm here.)
I just got my sgs2, my previous phone was a desire but I miss htc sense already. But I am hoping someone will port sense to the sgs2 soon there already is a mostly working port for the sgs1
Hi all,
I heard a lot about the xda community, and its truly a wonderful place. I own a samsung galaxy s phone and I am looking to purchase a new phone, currently I am confused in between the HTC one x and Samsung galaxy s3. Can you guys please help me in choosing the one correct for me. If any of you can take some time out and pin down some content which can help me choose, it would greatly help me.
I am looking for a phone which looks great and does'nt get outdated quickly in the future, I am really annoyed by the fact that samsung didnot rollout ICS for galaxy S. So i need a beast which looks phone. I have narrowed my options to S3 and One X.
Any help would be grateful.and sorry If i am not supposed to post such threads( I am new here).
Thanks,
Sid
Well personally what swung this decision for me was the s3 had a removable battery and also a micro Sd slot. I think also the s3 is easier rooted and modified.
If your in UK I would also recommend getting the s3 lte version as this newer version has 4g capabilities and 2gb ram, so a little more future proof than the original s3. Yes I know not all networks support 4g but they probably will within your next contract term and shops like carphone warehouse should have the 4g model unlocked for any network.

I will add that at this moment it is unknown how good the developer support for the lte is going to be so patience may benefit you
As a owner of both, in my opinion:
- built quality : better on hox, but you have to be aware of quality issues on htc, there is a o lot, screen, gaps, Wi-Fi range issues. Sgs3 feels cheaper in a hand, but hasn't got that many built problems. But if you'll get perfect hox then is better than sgs3.
- screen : better on hox, no pentile, better brightness. But on sgs3 screen is still very good.
- sound : sgs3 is a absolute winner, sound is loud and rich. On hox, well ... there is sound, just it.
- battery life : better on sgs3 by about 25% on usage on both
- camera : better quality on sgs3, but on hox still acceptable
- ergonomy : better on sgs3, power button on the right side, home button on the bottom. On hox this little power button on top is annoying. You also have battery and sdcard access on sgs3.
- ui experience : it's depends what you like, they are both smooth, I prefer Samsung new touchwiz, for the first time it's my default launcher. Sense changing default android too much, but it's still nice, some people love it.
Sgs3 is so friendly if you want to root, on hox it's more complicated.
My choice is sgs3, for the look - I'm bored with htc design, bigger screen and still good quality even if hox screen is a little bit better, sdcard, removable bigger battery, much better sound quality and camera, ease of rooting and modding. Hox is now in my gf hands.

I currently own both devices so i'll try to sum up the pros and cons of each device from my point of view.
Galaxy SIII
The screen is AMOLED which is a big plus for me as I like the "true blacks" and those oversaturated colours ;P
The front facing camera is much better than that on the one x but that's to be expected (1.9MP vs 1.3MP)
The s3 is a little bit "smoother" than the one x when both are on stock roms
The s3 doesn't overheat at all compared to the one x which you can feel it getting warm
The s3 has a removable back cover but to be honest I didn't need it at all while flashing custom roms
hTc One X
The build quality on this thing is just so much better than my s3 and it feels much better in the hand
Buttons are not as sensitive as on the s3 which again is a plus for me
They both have great cameras and speaker performance.
I wouldn't consider a one x if I were you. Look at the one x + that's just been released. It's supposedly faster than an s3 now, with better battery and sound than a standard one x
Sent from my GT-I9300 using xda premium
Rather than build quality I would actually say form style. Build quality infers that the S3 is produced badly
Sent from my GT-I9300 using xda premium
I spent literally weeks undecided and unable to buy either in case I made the wrong decision.visited loads of stores and handled and tested numerous handsets. Could have got the x 5 quid a month cheaper but eventually plumped for the sgs3.
What swung it for me? Well to be honest the only attractions of the one x were the cheap price and improved design and feel - yes it really does look and feel so much better in the hand.
However, having had the sgs1 and nexus s I am a big galaxy fan (whereas my missus is an HTC fan). The big issue was the removable sd card. My first acquisition after purchase was a 64gb card. Ican't have aphone for maybe 2 years and worry about storage. The other big consideration is the Samsung developer community which was a great experience when I had the sgs1 and has migrated to the sgs3.
In summary I'm satisfied with my choice which was a tough one and might have been different if the one x had removable storage.
Good luck with your deliberations, either way I'm sure you'll be happy with either of these great phones

Thank you everyone for taking your time out to give advice. I think I will go for S3, I had to choose between Look and Performance, One X i think has a very good build quality whereas S3 is a beast when it comes to performance. So im choosing performance, I will probably hit a store today and tomorrow and will purchase S3.

Samsung phones have by far the largest dev community, if you are a fan of XDA this shouldnt really be a difficult decision. Personally I couldnt live without a SD card or being able to switch the battery, especially when things go wrong when flashing stuff.
I actually prefer the build quality on sammy phones to that of HTC, i prefer them to be light rather than brick solid.
From the title itself, is it worth to upgrade to One X+? I mean, one downfall of the One X, is faster battery drain compared to the One S.. and the One S seems to be so much faster than the One X, but now the One X+ have a different chipset and now having a 2100 mAh battery.. do you think it's worth it? I've read some posts in the One X+'s forum that the battery is improved but not that much.. but now, they managed to have 4-5 hrs screen time, which is not by far from the One S.. and the JB and Sense 4+ is buttery smooth compared to the X's stock.. can the One S still beat the One X+?
Btw, i also do like the 64gb storage because 16gb isn't quite enough for me being a mobile gamer and a music lover, that's why i'm considering the upgrade..

Haha yea, the battery life is better many reviewers have said. Not amazingly better because the cpu is more powerful on the one x+ so most of the added battery power caters for that. Should be able to get a day with it which is the main thing . I want it badly as well lol. Was thinking about the nexus 4 but it's just problem after problem after problem on the n4 forum!

This is the Q&A Section, so pretty much any question that has to do with the respective phone is allowed. And it is also allowed to ask whether a user that answers has sufficient base to give a substantial answer. No reason to get rude and offensive for that.
Thanks for your understanding.

For starters OP the HOS was never faster than the HOX. It's like my mum trying to say her dual core centrino laptop is better than my quad core i7.. This is just something HOS users have invented to make themselves feel less insecure about buying a cheaper phone. ( Not that they need too. The HOS is a great phone). As for the battery. My friend owns a single core HTC SXL. It has a great battery life because of it's lower power. Now my HOX+ can pretty much go blow for blow with it in terms of battery, and lasts longer with the power saver mode enabled.
End of the day, it depends how you use your phone. If you use it as a phone/browser/media device. There is no need to upgrade. If you want to play the latest games or show off to your friends, your best upgrading to a HOX+ / SGS III or Note II.

Well that's a very professional answer, compared to some HOX+ users here who treat other people who have inferior phone to theirs, as dumb ****.. i really appreciate your response sir..
Now, about my plan to upgrade, after what i've heard from you, i really want to buy the HOX+ asap. i realized that 4.3" screen, 16gb storage and a battery that barely last a day with moderate use isn't enough for me.. before i bought my HOS, i really like the One X but i've read several reviews like in phonearena, gsmarena and here at xda that there are so many issues with the HOX like the short battery life, overheating problems, and the camera lens being vulnerable to scratches because it is really protruded, so i just bought the HOS. But seeing all that spectacular specs of the HOX+ and all the great things it has to offer, i fell out of love with my HOS.. and because i'm really a heavy user, mobile gamer and music lover, then the HOX+ is the perfect phone to upgrade to.

On my HOX+ the rubber around the raised camera bezel is just slightly raised compared to the glass. So when i put my phone down, the glass never makes contact with the surface. I don't know if this is the same for all HOX+'s though, as i have read threads by people claiming that there camera is not centered on the back of the phone. But from my experience with the HOX+, the quality is great. I guess you will just have to cross your fingers and hope you get a good model

It's good that the camera lens protrusion is now solved in the HOX+, and yes i've also read that some models, the camera eye isn't centered, i guess i have to inspect first the unit i will get before i pay for it. Good to know all issues to avoid before buying.
Btw, i never consider the sgs3 nor the note 2 because: 1) i was never impressed with the build quality of samsung mobile being plastic, it looks very cheap. 2) touchwiz UI isn't appealing compared to sense UI, i don't plan to root my phone yet within a year so i can't live with it's UI. 3) the One X+ looks sexier and more premium than any other samsung mobile. 4) sgs3 and note 2 is too mainstream, over rated, and almost all people use this and braging that they have the best and the latest phone out there, i don't want to be one of them. 5) super-lcd2 is more appealing to me than samoled, (though it's very ironic because my One S have samoled).
So i guess i will definitely get the One X+ if i can sell my One S, then i could get the money to buy one.. i'm afraid my One S will never have a JB update because it isn't one of the flagships today.

I am interested on getting a tablet on June. I'll be using it for mostly reading, watching videos and movies, surfing and working. I am highly interested in the N10 for the hardware and also for being a Nexus device. I've never owned a nexus device but I think it should be better than the crappy Samsung's interface, right? Also, thought about the N7 but the lack of JB 4.2, the camera and the screen is pushing me back...although both sizes fit me well.
I've read a few threads and I've tried to search for I/O predictions but I'm not lucky. So, is it worth it to buy the N10 on June? Is the pogo charger worth it?

the next nexus tablet even if it announces at google i/o, it most probably won't be on sale before nov/dec. So you got another few months for the n10. And considering it's a nexus device, you'll be supported by Google on updates for a longer time even if new tablets come out.
If you keep on thinking wait for the next one, you'll never be able to buy one since new devices nowadays come out way too quick.
for the pogo charger cable, in my opinion it definitely worth it. prevents wear on your usb port, charges faster and very easy to plug/unplug (magnet).

Thanks a lot for your answer. I'm not that kind of person who follows technology just when it is released. I just thought that If there as going to be a new nexus, with better hardware at the same price, on June or July, I could wait. If it is on December or something, then I'm good with the nexus 10.
I just have to check light bleeding (no idea what it is) according to some threads here.
About the pogo, thanks too.

Had my N10 roughly less than 2 months now. Came from the N7. Difference in speed and responsiveness was huge!
Bought the magnetic pogo pin as well. Definitely worth investing in.
New Nexus tablet? Probably in December 2013
coming from an iPad for almost one month
I would say definitely worth to buy the N10 now. New set probably be released end of the year.
POGO charger definitely worth the money (i think could have been included or cheaper but i have no regrets) i feel more comfortable with a (non wearing off port)

I bought 1 back in December and have had 0 problems with it. Geez enough already. Everyone and their dog knows you hate the Nexus 10. You don't need to spam every thread reiterating your hate.
Look, there is more than black and white to this. There can be an opinion between "Love it or hate it". Some people like the tablet just fine and accept some shortcomings which they are looking for possible answers for here on XDA for example. Others have low expectations and are overly happy with the tablet. And again others - like yourself - spent money and are disapointed for whatver reason and they voice their opinion. That's fine and there are threads even on this forum - several of them - where voicing your opinion is perfectly fine. You did that, others did as well, that's cool.
But there are threads where this is not appropriate, where mouthing off about the product when a simple question has been asked is not the way to respond on an open forum. That makes it very hard to have a reasonable discussion on the topic asked. I do not understand why it would make you happy to derail every question asked into a "Nexus 10 sucks, do not buy it!" thread. Heck I do not even own the tablet and find it annoying!
I do not want to censor anything, just want to ask for your cooperation with the users here. None of them are at fault if your tablet is not working the way you think it should.

Hi,
can you particularly tell what N10 has over Z and vice versa. It would be helpful for me and/or others who are about to be in dilemma of choosing between these two.
Can only go by specs at this point in time as the reviews are far and few between.
Z would have a snapdragon S4pro processor which may or may not be an improvement over that Exynos 5 dual core, hard to tell, but due to the lower resolution performance will maybe be better especially in games. 1080p screen, SD card slot which may be the killer argument for some. However it is running on 4.1.2 at release with Sony promising an open approach in regards to AOSP development, a policy they have recently adapted. Still, it will be third party development. The Z is also dust and water resistant wich is a nice and potentially useful gimmick.
We all know the specs of the N10, the next step would be a head to head comparison by some independent website.

Hmm..how does T604 stand before Adreno 320- that is also a concern.

at this point pure speculation. Adding the difference in resolution will make this discussion even more problematic. Have to wait for "real life" experiences which will most likely come at the end of this month.

You do realize that the people who have issues are the ones that will post, right? And the ones who have no issues aren't going to post threads about them not having issues? Have you been to a forum before?

Hi all!
Ok don't answer the title question
I own an LG G2 currently. I like the phone but I always keep my eyes on HTC ONE MAX because I really like HTC and like HTC sense.
I always like bigger screens (especially that I already sold all my tablets to condense on all my use on 1 device).
At first I bought the G2 thinking that note 3/one max are too big for me but now I'm starting to change my mind.
Am I stupid to think about such a switch?
Why?! For 3 simple reasons:
1- I bought G2 32GB from USA and cost me around 650$ with all additional tax/shipping fees.
If I wanna sell it now, I doubt it can be sold for even 500$, I fear lower much more like 400 or 450$ max because it has low resale value in my country.
2-If I accepted such loss:
the note 3 offering S800, 3GB ram, WACOM + Spen, 32GB+SDCARD and all those additional software features (mostly gimmick however) cost around 660$ while
while HTC one max (and you know what it offers) cost around 690$.
3-Does the one max offer any new/additional experience/featuresthat my G2 doesn't!?
As far as I know, G2 is much more feature packed than the One max.
So as you can see, it's quite sad really to see that HTC phones are always overpriced! (one of many reasons why they don't sell well anymore)
I dunno, I really have mixed feelings and would be glad if anyone has an experience in this matter or can help me.
Thanks.

I was just thinking the same thing. All of a sudden these are popping up everywhere.
I think what is happening is that a lot of people are looking for alternatives to the Samsung stuff, and, after reading a lot of the initial reviews, that were not complimentary to this phone, those same people are now seeing all sorts of great things about this great phone, and are thinking about getting one.
I'm glad I made that decision in November!
