HTC mozart BATTERY DRAIN!!! - 7 Mozart General

One week ago,
Wifi on only = 15 hours
3G on only = 6-10 hours (depending on how much use)
now...
wifi = 6 hours
3G = 5 hours (or probably less since i dare not use it)
i honestly dont know what is happening... im suspecting maybe its coz of photosynth but i cannot be sure...
THERE ARE JUST SIMPLY TOO MANY VARIABLE FACTORS!!
Maybe its coz i have tooooo many apps (i think maybe over 100)
and my free space left is 1gb
i turn off all live tiles that i can change in the background tasks option
I really dont know what has changed from last week to this week.... ><

Check what background tasks are running all the time.
If i dont use my mozart very much (only 20-30 phone calls per day) then it will last 3.5-4days. If i play littebit every day and use internet + calls-emails-sms then 1.5-2days.
ofcourse i have 3g/wifi/bt/gps allways off when i dont need them and nothing syncs automaticly.

Hm if I turn everything off I used to be able to las a day or so.... But now, no way

Try to buy from market application like Juice Defender or other.

Hmmm I just noticed something, my WiFi connection is not disconnected even after screen lock! Very weird

I have noticed that when I turn Data Connection on that my battery lasts an awful lot less than when its off, maybe thats the same with you?

I have photosynth and well over 100 apps, I also only have 1.2gb left (out of a 32gb upgrade).
I have 3 background tasks running every 30 mins.
AU Weather Pro - Weather obviously
Battery Status - Graphs the battery use and shows all running processes, but requires a full-unlock)
and TelstraTracker - Keeps track of my calls and data usage.
I have 2 email accounts, both set to push emails.
I get 12-15 hours with normal usage (occasional game or web-browsing) (with a Mugen battery though, it's a bit shorter with the stock one). Forgot to mention I rarely drop it below 40% with those times, probably kind of important to state Can get 2 days with light usage.
So you should be able to eliminate photosynth, number of apps and storage space from the equation.

It is the apps, I have too many background apps that I cannot turn off. Most suspected are obviously social apps and Facebook app.
Is 12-15hr with WiFi or 3g?

Also with the reception area of ur network, that factor influences a lot too.

How do you improve battery on GB ROMS???

Question for all GB users, which is a pretty high number here. I ran MIUI Lithium and loved it except the battery was pathetic. I can deal with generally bad battery life since i came from an HD7 but it got out of hand. Anyway since there are a lot of GB roms out there and pretty active i suppose a lot of u found a way to handle it better. How do you u GB users get the most out of battery on a GB ROM? (ROM, Kernel, tweaks, etc.)
please share your setup since it can help a lot of others that want to manage battery better

Try using the Bali-CM (For CM7/MIUI/OMFGB) kernel. It was designed around improving battery. I'm currently not using it however when I did I had much better battery life when I was... Also remember to undervolt, as that should further increase battery life without loss of performance. "Screen off" profiles in overclock apps like SetCPU also help in battery conservation.
An app that really helps battery life is called Juice Defender Plus. You should try it out! Here's an overview of the app posted by "Woodrube" that should help you get started...
This is how the JD Plus works (no need for JD Ultimate b/c we don't have many of the functions it supports. I just copied this from another thread the OP started awhile ago and I was trying to helps him out there.
If you set it to custom, the go into the settings tab on the right and then all the way at the bottom, there is two buttons to push, The first in Interactive which will pull up Juice Defender for up for any app that isn't already configured and the other is Configure Apps. This is the one that you can customize on an app-to-app basis where if you are no using an app and the screen is locked, it kills the radio/data traffic for that app.
Say you are listening to IHeartRadio, this you would want either Enable or Enable/off (which means the screen will be locked but the radio/data will be working). Now take the browser. It you are not using the browser, then you don't need it transmitting data right? So you would set that one to Enable (which means that it will only enable data traffic when that app is being used).
Juice Defender only works when the screen is locked, don't forget and all widgets are battery drains b/c all they really are is a monitoring app and if it is tied to something like FB or G+, then that data will be running constantly.
Examples:
Gmail = Enable (not enable/off b/c then it will keep your radio/data open)
Beautiful Widgets = Enable/off
mClock/Clockr = Enable/off
Angry Birds = Disable (with this and something like Adfree, no more ads in Angry Birds even though the ads are embedded in the .apk)
SMS/MMS = Enable or Do Nothing (why would you push disable)
Enable = Radio/data on when app is in use (front)
Enable/off = Radio/data on for background apps (when screen is locked)
Disable = Disables radio/data traffic completely when that app is running
Do Nothing = What is says.
I have been using JD+ for over a year on 3 different phones and have noticed a considerable difference in battery life, even on a crappy Motorola phone. Just takes some time to figure out YOUR settings and what YOU like. I have also used it on Stock kernel and had no problems either.
---
Under status I have Profile>Customize (this one lets you configure your apps) Notification> Text
Under settings I have
Mobile and Wifi are both set to Enable,
Options>Auto Disable,
Location>disable,
Schedule>Enable:frequency>1h,
Night>Enable :12am6am (b/c I am asleep but if I am on, user takes priority),
Apps>Enable;
Configure>Interactive.

Also, don't forget that our Vibrant's screens are huge power drainers. Keeping it on a lower brightness level helps save a lot of battery. Hope this helps!

By the way, whenever you flash a new rom you are going to want to do a battery re-calibration. This will help excessive battery drain. However you only need to do it once when you flash a new rom! Use this app to easily do a re-calibration.... http://www.google.com/search?gcx=c&sourceid=chrome&ie=UTF-8&q=battery+calibration+nema
Here are some screenies to give you an idea of how JD+ can be set up. Noob, thanks for the tag, buddy.
+1 on the screen settings too. Plus when you are pulling on-line music for extended time and notice the phone getting hot, it isn't all the processor, it is the screen that is causing some of the heat. Hence my enable/off for MLB or Tune-in in the shots below.
Noob, thanks for the tag, buddy.

No problem, bro.
Which version of Lithium were you running? Try Prime 360 (Miui 2.3.7). With heavy usage, I usually get around 16-20 hrs. With light usage, I had 29hrs with it. Let your battery drain, fully recharge and you should have remarkable results.
I tried NB-360 ROM, it had decent battery life, with many battery saving features included, but it didn't compare to Prime if you need longevity out of your battery. It currently uses the Neo R18 Kernel.
Let me know how it goes.

So my Setup is basically running CM7 (with 2.3.7), and having a kernel which supports something called "undervolting"
right now, I have a kernel called glitch kernel.. which basically gives me an app where i can set my own custom voltages (like undervolting it -50 mv from the original voltage). THis can help save TONS of battery, but always refer to your kernel guide on how low to set the voltage.
We don't want any bootloops or bricks now do we
I also use an app (in conjunction with my kernel) called screen filter. This dims the LEDS inside youe phone individually so it saves a ton of battery.
i get 1.5 days on full charge listening to music and going on the internet constantly
thanks a million guys. im currently running cm7 stable and flashed glitch v13 kernel. set leakage to medium (honestly still dont understand the difference very well) and undervolted like you guys recommended. ill see how battery treats me.
^^ BTW i had Lithium 11/11/11 update with default kernel
If i see a significant increase in battery, ill give MIUI a go again with Prime since it seems to have good battery. Ill keep u updated, thanks again
Edit: quick question. is it true that the solid white colors still kill much more battery with our screens? or was it mostly a first gen amoled issue?

update: glitch v13 with undervolting really did the trick!!! after a full work day on which on a GB rom my phone would be begging for mercy with about 20% remaining more or less, today i finished with just over 70%, and that was after i realized that the undervolting settings did not stick after boot when i unplugged it and i applied it again (my phone was at 90% when i did this)
speechless...

Insane Data Usage on Mini Pro - Analysis

Just logging my experiences of some crazy data usage on my new phone and what I've done about it.
Backstory => I've had a HTC Hero for a while, Eclair (2.1) never once had over 420Mb Data usage in a month (and never made any attempt to keep it down). That phone was never on WiFi (hero does't support n) so I actually expected data usage to go down (phone averages 12hrs per day on WiFi).
So I opted for a special deal, dirt cheap, 500Mb/Month deal with very expensive charges for extra Mbs on UK Virgin Mobile (which is a reseller of UK T-Mobile).
First two days, 130Mb of the plan gone, maybe 30Mb of which was 'my' usage. At that rate my excess data charges for month 1 > entire 2 year contract price....
I've been using Onavo and Traffic Monitor (both Market) to try to track down the usage, both are useful but have thier problems. Also because I have had to get the usage down to the point were I can get through the month some of the guestimates of daily data use may be off. If there is interest I can always do some formal experimentation when my month resets.
For reference i have a SK17i on 2.3.3, f/w 4.0.A.2.335 (old but best I can get without unlocking phone). If anyone explicitly knows a firmware upgrape fixes these issues please let me know. This is limited to things that use data that really, IMHO, should not
Format is:
APK name;Longname;Onavo Stats; Traffic Monitor Stats; My Guestimate of real daily usage; What it does; notes
Stuff I've Already Gotten rid of
SemcCrashMonitor.apk;com.sonyericsson.crashmonitor;CrashMonitor - 10mb/day;??; 10mb/day; Listed as debugger in sources, no issues usage was with setting to send usage to SE turned off
SEMCSetupWizard.apk;com.sonyericsson.setupwizard; 6mb/Day;??; 6mb/day;Getting started wizard; Ensured i'd let it finish etc, why does it even run?
UpdateCenter.apk;com.sonyericsson.update center;3mb one day, 400kb the next;??;??;Might possibly be legit usage?;
SemcSnpStore.apk;com.sonyericsson.android.snp;Video Unlimited 3mb / Day;??;3mb/day; Qrocity video store; Again no legit reason for this to background data
there's more but they are far smaller usage
Stuff that I haven't had the guts to get rid off yet
if you know these are safe to drop let me know:
PMSservice.apk;com.sonyericsson.providers.protected.media; 3-6Mb per day, is either double counting this with Keypad or splitting usage wrongly across them; android.uid.phone ~ 3mb per day, presume thats must be this; 3mb/day; cant find any info on this anywere online; missing for several 'full xperia software lists
enhancedusbus.apk;com.sonyericsson.usbux;4mb/day;this is bucketed in com.android.system < 2mb per day;??; Its presumable the PC Connector etc addon; if it is using the data it genuinely has NO excuse
More to follow
i am suffering from same problem. i used internet on java phones before. (had x10 mini pro but never used internet on it)
my usage on java phones was approx. 1200 MB @ 8 kbps data rate EDGE connection. now I switched to xperia mini. I use 3G @ 14 kbps 3G and you wont believe it boosted to 5 GB per month.
sort of nice to know it isn't just me, 5gb is about what i would have gotten if i'd not noticed it i believe (was on some heavy rss feeds in addition to above). That would have been a crazy bill.
Hopefully some of this is actually fixable, might try to raise some stuff officailly with SE once I get more data.
Have a data usage horror story, let me know!
My analysis of my stock SE, HTC & Samsung handsets is that it is the refresh rates set default by these companies of twitter, rss and such that causes the insane amounts of data. Not mentioning the obvious if using streaming services such as YouTube, notify et al ;-)
Change updates to manual or every 4 hours keeps me below one GB per month for all handsets.
Sent from my GT-P1000 using Tapatalk
Wird with the data usage. This month I have only used 420mb on my mini pro (newest fw) and done nothing to limit my data use except for using wifi a bit.
I have not been over 1.5 gb in a month with heavy YouTube and stuff like that.
for me, its not a problem
just use the unlimited internet package...

poor battery life.

Hi.
I buy Nokia Lumia 800. And now, i have poor battery life. I disabled all apps, and dont have background task.
I read on the internet, if dont have latest FW, then u will poor battery life.
I have :
OS version : 7.10.8773.98
FW : 1750.0805.8773.12220 .
How to solve poor battery life? How to update latest update for LUMIA 800? HELP
Have you synced your Phone in the last time with Zune? it should show you the latest update, sry if i cant say if you have the latest FW but i don't own the 800
if you have no Zune, or its not show any update, then you should watch in your Settings on your Phone, theres a update option
what is your description of "poor" for my Lumia 710 i get 1-3 Days, 3 Days when all data disabled and no use (just SMS and Phone sometimes) and 1 Day with 3G on and Apps running in Background like whatsapp
a girl in my class has the 900 and he also has a bad battery life (he sad) but she has the same time
hope i helped in something

mhh. Yes, i synced. :/ Zune say's ,that i have latest update.
But i disabled all, and no use. (sometimes play zombie, doodlejump , just sms ,phone,3G maybe use 5min. ) and get maybe 1day. :/ And dont have background tasks :/
and also, i choose brightness low! :/ and battery saver on..
Considering I get twice that battery life doing the tasks you do, I suggest you go to a service to have your battery replaced. It might have a high wear level.
Playing Games is the best way to get your Battery empty ;D i dont know but i think 1 day is for the Smartphone generation today normal :/

Getting slower? or just past it's time?

I've enjoyed my XT910 for a couple of years, but quit using it about 3-4 years ago. Now I want to use it with a secondary SIM, perhaps as a WiFi hotspot while roaming, but I find the speed appalling. Every operation takes seconds to show a result. Even unlocking to an SMS notification takes ~4 seconds.
Using MoKee 5.1 on a secondary ROM slot, I think. It's always on charge (as battery is slowly dying) and the only active app is PushBullet, used to see check my SMSs on other devices.
Does it make sense to invest in a new battery and keep this phone as my secondary? Or should I just get a cheap Chinese one, like Ulefone U007?
I don't expect miracles, just maybe using it as a light travel phone, mobile hotspot, speedcam notifier and occasional (once every two months) browsing. Should I maybe switch to a stock-based ROM that lives on the main slot? Get rid of slots altogether?
The phone lived some nice times, travelled around the world, edited and uploaded DSLR pictures with OTG, provided navigation to rickshaw drivers, was a portable desktop for a while, then a retro-gaming machine. Maybe it just wants to be retired...
Motomizer can help overclock it so it doesn't seem as slow. I haven't maxed mine out, just ramped it up about midway.
Sent from my XT1254 using Tapatalk
I've bought a new battery and installed Mokee 5.1, upgraded later to 6.0. Battery life is ok-ish, but not much of a difference. I've measured the old battery to still have 1400-1500Ah, the new one is ~1700mAh. I suspect the poor battery life was due to some hanging processes.
Anyway, with Mookee 6.0, the phone is unbearably slow. I have whatsapp, viber, google maps and nothing else. LMK has been set to very aggressive.
When I receive an SMS, it takes 5-15 seconds for it to load, if it doesn't FC. When I unlock the phone (after it sat for a while) it takes at least 10s to come to life.
My suspicion is that there is high memory usage (Android reports 30-70MB remaining) which causes everything to be evicted from RAM. Not sure what can be done, except install an older android version. I thought the newer ones had better memory and battery management.
Android OS - 285MB
Android System - 99MB
Google Play services - 75MB
System UI - 54MB
Phone - 36MB
Viber - 35MB
Messaging service - 35MB
Whatsapp - 33MB
.......
Free memory 28MB
Not sure what I should do: switch to an older Android version? if so, which ROM would be more responsive but still frugal? Do not update apps as newer ones eat more memory? Give up?
I've already half-given up and ordered a cheap Blackview A7, but I really liked the Moto as a travel/backup phone.

How much battery, RAM, and CPU optimization matters on Android?

How much battery, RAM, and CPU optimization matters on Android? Cause I'm getting 10hrs of screen on time on a 3700mAh battery.
So I have been using this Snapdragon 710 phone for over a year now and it's giving me at the very least 10h screen on time. ( Yes you read that right. 10 hrs on an average )
Things to note here -
• I don't use a SIM card
• My phone is constantly connected to a Wifi and a VPN
• I play games like FIFA or PES 40 minutes to an hour a day
• Rest of the time I browse Reddit, Insta, FB, watch Netflix and Youtube
• I do not use auto-sync and location
I recall using stock ROM (realMe UI) 8 months ago and it used to give me 6hrs of screen on time at best. Now that I'm using ROMs like Pixel Experience, RevengeOS, Oxygen OS, MSM Extended I get a much better battery backup. I don't close apps. Simply minimize them when not in use. My CPU always runs at a lower clock speed but the phone never slowed down or stuttered, thanks to 6GBs of RAM.
I went to stock ROM a few days earlier and used it for a week to check if I was wrong. Found out stock is still giving me 6hrs on an average which makes me wonder how much difference good software can make.
I do comprehend the fact that using a mobile network would cost some more juice. Then again, since I'm rooted I could use WakeBlock or Servicely to limit a lot of unnecessary background process that Play Services or apps like FB, Insta creates.
I'm sorry if it was poorly written. I hope you get what I'm saying. If you've ever encountered something like that please let me know. I saw people complaining about bad battery backup on phones with a 4500+ mAh battery. Can't phone companies do something about that?
