Says so in the description on the Play store.
Was going to download it and root but all HTC devices must have s-off.
Can't play any Gameloft games.

I'm rooted and I have been able to get most of my games to run with some edits to build.prop and restoring data from titanium backup, but still haven't figured out chainfire3d. If you install the driver with or without the EGL driver the phone will freeze upon boot every time. Haven't figured out a fix yet.
HTC Unlock = S-OFF
All it needs is the system partition to not be locked, HTC unlock does this. Before we had HTC Unlock, S-OFF was the only way to get this.
HTC unlock is not S-OFF, but you should be alright without it. It just needs to be able to write to the system partition.
Don't try it. It sent my EVO into a bootloop and I had to Re-Flash

What is S-off ? Any relation to bootloader?

A search will give you a ton of results, but S stands for Security and that does a good job of describing it. You turn the security off, so you can do whatever to different partitions.

Is there any word on this? has anyone tried Chainfire3D with a different rom?
On stock, I installed CF3D, and then as allaidback said, the phone will not boot. However, doing a factory reset will make it boot up once, and CF3D appears to work (ran Fruit Ninja THD as a test after installing plugins), but if the phone ever reboots, back to the same thing. Uninstalling the driver after another Factory Reset is the only way to get the phone to keep working.
I'm curious if anyone has made any progress with this, as I have a sizable collection of THD games, thanks to having just upgraded from the MoPho.
nothin' yet man. Still looking for a fix...found Siegecraft THD to work though.
Well we have a way to achieve true s-off now in the dev section. Maybe that would solve the issue for you guys?
yeah, I was going to try that once I can do it from windows base. Thanks!

It's already available for windows, did it lastnight from windows.
Negative...does not work. Tried installing Chainfire3D after successfully completing PANDAS S-OFF still unable to boot and have to re-flash.
has anyone successfully installed chainfire3d yet?

Complete HTC noob here coming from a Droid X. Ive gone through the unlock, I am permanently rooted. AmonRa is installed and Ive got my NANDROID backup done up.
Im looking for advice on a solid method to remove all of the garbage from this phone to help lighten things up a bit.
Again, I am an HTC noob and I really am scared shartless about bricking this lovely piece of equipment
I wanna know this too. Root explorer I deleted the app in system app but it still shows in app drawer.

Since i got my Evo 3D ive always wanted to be able to run Boot Manager on it. My Evo has the 1.50 hboot from factory. Anyways, the first time i ran boot manager it failed at the boot.img part towards the end. I personally assumed it was due to the fact i didnt have S-Off available to me. Since yesterday I was able to downgrade my bootloader to 1.40 and put S-Off using revolutionary. However, Boot Manager still wont work properly. Does anyone have any ideas as to how to get around or fix this?
Are you flashing a new ROM or restoring a nandroid in bootmanager?

I had a similar issue at first. The problem he has solved. It could be ROM your trying to flash is a cdma/gsm version, so in turn it didt know what img to use he fixed it to ask what one.
If not try forcing large img under settings, and keep screen on.
If not I would recommend email them. They very quick to get back to you. And can solve the issue. When. You email them, let him know what your running, what your trying to install, also attach the log.txt from SD/boot manager.
Hope it helps, it is a FANTASTIC app, GREAT SUPPORT

Linsalata28 made a great guide for boot manager in the q/a section. Anyone that has this app should read it.

+1 on great support. i tried getting bmp to work and had all kinds of issues. service was top notch, but unfortunately I came to the realization that my 3D just doesn't play well with bmp. went back to my old way of flashing between roms - nandroids. I will try again down the road to see if I can get it working as it is a great app.
I have it running cm9 right now, for some reason. That's the only ics that actually runs for me. I tried other ics on bootmanager but they normally got stuck on the white HTC screen.

what rom did you try?
i use
Phone Rom: Mean 2.6
Slot 1: MIUI 2.2.10
Slot 2: FreEVO
Slot 3: ZR3D
All works well. Dont forget to read the manual.
Force large boot and uncheck superuser logging.
Gonna try Playground ICS on slot 4 now
Hello All,
If this has been covered before I apologize I havent been able to find the solution to my problem atm.
What I would like to do is ultimately downgrade my phone to Hboot 1.4 so that I can install a Custom Rom for the first time. However according to my research to do that you will need to wipe your phone in essence losing all my data so I would like to back it up first before I try that which I havent been able to figure out how to do that yet.
My phone build is Hboot 1.5 2.17.651.5
Based on what I have read many guide suggest that you will have to use the HTCdev Unlock to actually be able to root the phone but if my understand of what I am reading is correct you have to wipe the phone again which doesnt help me.
Ive tried so many different methods to be able to do temp-root but none of them seem to work for me so I would like a suggestion or some advice on what I can try so I can backup my phone before I try the downgrade.
Thanks guys

AFAIK, there is no way since both methods (downgrade and HTC unlock) cause you to wipe. I hope someone has a good answer (and I wish I had known it before I lost all my stuff downgrading ).
What all are you trying to backup? Your apps you can reinstall, your phone number's can be exported to your sd without root via your people app, videos and pics are stored on your sd so you can just insert your sd into your laptop/pc and back it up. Your texts are a different story, but I'm sure you will receive more texts.

I'm mostly trying to back up app data settings game saves etc. Sorry I didn't mention that, I'm also just trying to see how that works since I'm still learning about all of this. If that is something I shouldn't really worry about should I just go ahead with the downgrade?

Use Tacoroot to gain temp root on 2.17. This is HIGHLY unstable, do not touch the notification/status bar at all when it boots. just get in, get your backups, and get out.

Hey Unknown thanks for the reply im a fan of your work I have actually tried that method or one similar (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1441100) and have been unsuccessful so far (I also made a post in that thread). I'm really close to giving up and just doing the downgrade as I can not figure out how to make this work.

Highly unstable is an understatement . When I followed your downgrade process, my phone started a constant bootloop after using tacoroot. Luckily, it did not have to boot, but I still lost my data (which ended up being no big deal).
EDIT: Sounds critical of Unknownforce, but did not mean to. He is the reason I have root and will forever be in my signature.

Unfortunately it's the only known root method to work with 2.17. I didn't develop it, it was jcase, but it's better than nothing.
K I'm using boot manager to install a cm9 Rom and it keeps failing at creating boot.img. I don't know what I'm doing wrong since I've herd of others installing cm9 roms sucessfully using boot manager. Maybe it's something in my settings? Tried making a thread at init2winit forums but have not gotten any response over there. Anyone here willing to help me out? I would greatly appreciate it.

Thanks for the advice. I did check my SD storage and it said that I only had 1.16GBs left. So I thought that this could be true I suppose. So I switched to int. Storage as the install location(which I have 9.67GBs available on) and its causing my phone to lock up and freeze. Happened right at the part "extracting Rom please wait..." Weird...

Remember to disable logging in Superuser. That also causes some major issues. Just open superuser hit settings icon, and where it says logging set it to off. You should have much better luck that way
Cool, I will try that. I've uninstalled and reinstalled multiple times, with no luck. I'm interested though. What do you guys have setup in settings?

The Rezound is supported by bootmanager.
I've never been able to get boot manager to work correctly since I've started using it back on my dinc2. Had issues installing some roms on that phone too. Which is why I think my problem may be the settings I am using. Is there specific settings I need to use for the rezound?
EDIT: After I changed the settings SU I tried again at work and it froze still and even rebooted during the install.

Ok, so I finally got cm9 roms to install correctly and now when I try to boot to them it just shows the splash screen for a couple seconds and my display turns off and it never boots. I've tried with kang and paranoid with the same results. I've tried going into recovery and manually flashing the update zip for rom 1, didnt work. Can't think of what could be the problem....

Doesnt look like anyone has asked you this, but are you S-Off?? You need to be S-off for this to work. Also make sure when installing you wipe system/data/cache. You should be able to use the ext.4/2 either one will work. I use the ext.4 since it installs faster....alot faster.

i understand... he could probably do a dirty install of the same rom over top and make sure it has a boot.img in the zip that is not in any of the folders
Hello.
I used the Casual method a while back to root my phone. This caused all sorts of problems, and once i was finally able to fix it from boot loop with a rom installed I have not touched it.
I posted a thread about wanting the stock camera, and was told to find a TW based rom. I plan on installing Jellybeans today.
It says to make sure your phone is unlocked and rooted, how do i verify if I am unlocked?
Thanks.

That does nothing but check for root, it would be no help if he knows he has root.
Really the best thing I can think of is to try flashing a ROM, not very helpful but I can't think of any other surefire way....
