Good day to everyone.
I just recently bought my SGS3 from a local network provider called Telecom.
When i check the phone's version, it says, "Samsung Galaxy I9300T".
Definitely it's not the International Version so i'm wondering if it is possible to be rooted in any way and - HOW?
Other infos if needed are the following:
-Model number: GT-I9300T
-Android version: 4.0.4
-Baseband: I9300TDULE6
I'm asking before doing anything because i'm also an SGS2 user, and there's a hell of a difference between GT-I9100
and GT-I9100G. From kernel to ROMs, even the themes, in fact, a separate title was made just to compensate the need
of I9100G users.
Anyone's help would be really appreciated.
Thanks.
What are its specifics?
It is still the international version, don't worry, enjoy!!

Thanks for the reply.
Actually, there is no other specific. But just to complete the info i will edit the first post.
Looks like we got the Australian version, from what I've read all their galaxy 's have had the T on them.... did our other versions of the S1 & S2 have the T on them ?

Not aware mate since i got my s2 form **** Smith. But probably yeah.
Regarding the Australian version, at least the possibility of getting my phone rooted increased as there are quite few developers from Aus and Au.
Maybe i just need to wait for a little while.
Same GT-i9300:
http://pdadb.net/index.php?m=specs&id=3549&c=telstra_samsung_gt-i9300t_galaxy_s_iii
The i9300t has a modem optimized for the 850mhz network. This is used by Telstra and Vodafone in Australia.
I have the galaxy s 2 i9100t model and used the rom for the i9100 (non t model) fine. I assume this will be the same for the s3

Have the ability to flash any Rom, but still better to flash a 't' modem/radio after Rom if in Aust and with Telstra or Vodafone

Solder Jumpers!
For those of you who have the "GT-I9300T" (or any other non-pure-I9300),
please open up your back cover and confirm the solder jumper settings
as shown in the picture shown in THIS post.
Thanks!

Thanks for that mate but i will not risk opening my phone as it will totally lose my warranty.
By the way, it's quite interesting.

Have taken apart a I9300T and a I9300. On the T model the jumper is on the AU pads, on the I9300 the EU pads are soldered.

Guys i have a Telstra Galaxy S II and when you put a optus simcard the 3G reception is very poor.
I have seen this thread with the same issue: http://forums.whirlpool.net.au/forum-replies.cfm?t=1753318 but no solution?
iPhone 4 gets 4 full 3G bars where the Galaxy cant even maintain 1 bar...
However if you put a Telstra or Vodafone sim it works like a charm..
Please help
So far I have tried flashing different modems and firmwares from xda and still the issue can not be fixed :'(
- Today I got my mate to bring his phone (Galaxy S2 Optus version) and he has the optus version and works like a charm with 4 bars of 3G ....
I don't want to sell this so early
Remarks:
Optus works on 900/2100mhz
Telstra works on 850/2100mhz
Voda works on 850/900/2100mhz
I'm having a similar issue -- just got a I9100T (Telstra branded), and put in an Optus carrier SIM; data speeds are awful.

Put your phone into Download mode by:
Download this modem: http://www.multiupload.com/TWC0R29SEQ
1) Powering down the device.
2) Then you will power up the device like this by: pressing and holding the volume down key + home key + power key until you see the Galaxy Logo ( if you press for too long the device might power down again lol).
3) Enter the download mode by single pressing the Volume Up key.
4) Get Odin3 v1.85 ( from http://www.mediafire.com/?txgeoaik38pr7cq ) and open the program.
5) DO NOT TOUCH OR USE THIS PROGRAM UNLESS YOU DO AS I SAY OR RISK KILLING YOUR DEVICE
5) Click on the "phone" button and choose the download modem.bin file from where ever you have downloaded.
6) Press start and let the program flash the modem.bin file, the phone will restart and you will have full 3G.
If you found this helpful please use the thanks button.

Thanks very much.
Do I have to flash anything else along with the modem.bin file? Is those instructions assuming that the the ROM is already flashed with something else? (Which ROM are you using?)
When I compared the MD5 for this, I see this is the modem.bin for Vodafone's stock firmware (I9100TDUKF4), not the stock Telstra firmware (I9100TDVKF2). But it's working well for you?
You dont have to flash nothing else apart from the modem file...
The modem will work with any aus stock firmware
I have tried well over 8+ modems and the one uploaded above is the only one that works with 9100T on non 850mhz bands
I use kh3 with no issues on both networks

Sorry to bring back an old thread, but....
Hey guys,
I've got an SGS2 i9100T on Vodadone and after flashing different firmwares and custom roms etc, I can't seem to get good reception on the phone anymore.
I've tried literally everything, you name it, I've done it.
- different modems (yes, I've tried the i9100TDUKF4)
- MMI code to change open bands
- flashing back to complete stock Vodafone firmware
I don't know what do anymore, I'm considering selling the phone and buying a generic
i9100 without the damn 'T' at the end of it lol. 'Least then I can use new firmwares and modems without the terrible reception.
Any help is much appreciated, thanks,

Hey, Thanks heaps for that...
I'll try this one too..
I DL'd the whole I9100T Voda firmware to get it this morning..
First 30 Mins were good.... Didn't last long tho....
I am going to sell this phone to a guy with a Telstra Prepaid sim...
As least it will useable for him...
So much for beleiving there is no difference tween a 9100 and a 9100T..
Its just sourcing another 9100 for the same dough that will be the problem.
Anyone in brisbane with a USB Jiggy to reset my counter.....
Currently at 51..... 9100T are poo for optus/optusresellers...
I am in the opposite boat to you guys. I have a generic i9100 running on Telstra-.I have tried every modem, different roms, putting the Telstra stock i9100t firmware on (which worked flawlessly, but no change in signal strength) and still the same average reception.
I'm not concerned about data, but I get call drops and breaking up in half of my house-.I hear them perfectly, but the other party hears me breaking up or can't hear me at all....
I am strongly considering trading for an iphone 4, or something with better signal strength....(I have seen iphones work in my house fine).
Are any of you guys in sydney? It would be great to check if an i9100t actually has something different in the hardware to improve reception on their network...maybe we could trade.
I love this phone, but ths issue is proving more than annoying.... It works fine with an htc desire, and my old defy.
I am in the inner west of sydney, pm me if you want to look at testing our different hardware out.
Thank YOU!!!
WOW Thank you sooooo much!!!!
This has been a problem for SOOO long!
Now it's not
Tried DUKF4, KI3, still bad signal.................
I'm with voda, in North shore...

Sorry I have no idea what you are asking here, you took an NFC technology????
Lol... I agree... what does that mean...?? I would also like to take nfc technology on my s2 if possible since mine isn't the Korean version...
Or maybe he is saying he got the Korean version... hmmmmm...
Sent from my Galaxy SII
I think he is saying that he got NFC version of S2 and asking for ROM compatibility.
i was thinking about whether to wait for NFC to hit all of SG2, or maybe getting one from the UK (had to wait for a while, since it was rumored they'll get there eventually) ... but eventually decided that even though it's a nice sounding feature, i can probably live without it, and just got mine
anyways, assuming you have a korean phone with NFC support, you think it won't work unless you have a ROM built specifically with that support?
i guess it'll take most roms out there out of the question ...
Sorry but maybe I expressed myself badly ... I bought the new i9100p which is the version with the NFC chip to shop (here in Italy this technology isn't coming soon ..: Mad. I wanted to know if you think the rom for the i9100 normal are compatible. until a short time ago I had the regular version and with the criskelo I was fine ..
I was going to try to get the nfc version myself but didn't due to this particular confusion whether its compatible or not...
Some people said that with the nfc version all it is, is the nfc chip which is installed in the back cover and the battery but the rest of the phone is essentially the same... if that's the case it should probably work... but again I can't say for sure... the model is still i9100, just adding the P... I think it should work... but I would suggest you maybe ask in the respective rom thread or maybe PM criselko himself and see what he says...

The Japanese version doesn't have NFC, only Japan's long-established equivalent.
Anyway, I love the phone, but I can't wait until some of the geniuses on here come up with an easy way to root it.

Negative. Just tried to scan my edy but no joy. My nexus S grabs it fine however. Cannot wait to dump this stupid docomo rom and get a vanilla one on. That or just go back to my Nexus S.
またSC-06DはNFCを搭載していないので、「Android Beam」を拡張したデータ転送機能「S Beam」も利用できない. Yep, no NFC.
SamMobile has a rom out for SC-06D. As soon as the DL finishes gonna give it a go since I tried the I9300 and it just black screens.
i seen that but i was pretty sure that was just the stock rom...which is really helpful if a bad rom is loaded and need to go back to stock...ive downloaded it too and keeping it to the side for emergencies....
The ability to root and throw CyanogenMod 9 on docomo's Galaxy S3 are the two most important factors in whether or not I will buy it in the next couple of months. Can you please keep us updated on your progress, wtfusernameistaken?

My honest opinion is that the phone sucks. No NFC, annoying uninstallable apps, battery gets quite warm, camera is meh, Kies is basically iTunes with a different layout. I went back to my nexus S and passed the S3 off to the wife. Tried to get a galaxy nexus but it would seem that it did so bad in Japan that they liquidated their entire stock 3 months ago. Guess I'll just have to wait for the next dev phone.
The rom on sammobile is in fact the stock rom, but good to have in case.
Your first sentence had me dying. Lol I guess that sums it up, though. I guess I'll start preparing to buy a One X, though I think I'm going to attempt to get the AT&T version and have it unlocked, as it seems that model is more liked than the international version. I don't even play Words with Friends, so Tegra 3, Schmegra 3 for all I care.
In my opinion this is a beast of a phone...nfc not there..it maybe just no unlocked..the screen is great..the 2gb is a major factor...the fact it'll be one if few phones to receive the jelly bean update..even the little tv tuner which I'm sure the statewide doesn't have..the massive support for it...the camera is great, even though some might choose a third party app...people are judging the phone after a few days of use...the real beauty and love affair comes after extended use...having all this potential and being a root and or custom Rom away from unleashing it is mouth watering...already my s3 out performs my s2 in every way...and it can only get better...every day I find or notice something about this phone that makes it more and more awesome...give it a chance and don't be so basis guys...

If you lack Japanese skills I would be hesitant to root. Some of the warnings that come up will not be in english. Not to mention that all the development on the root was done by Japanese and the "documentation" will be as well.
This is my first Android device (and my first post )
I found the amount of Samsung and Docomo apps really ridiculous.
I want to get CM9 onto the device, so I can have a completely clean slate with no remnants of all the shovelware. As I'm new, I don't know how yet, but I've found several guides and videos and such for doing it for other devices, even the other versions of the Galaxy S3. Unfortunately I haven't found too much specifically for the Docomo Japan version, so I'm a little hesitant to try anything just yet. Is there anything that makes the Docomo device different from other Galaxy S3's, anything I should look out for?
One thing to note for anyone else who bought it here in Japan at Docomo, by default they automatically sign you up for a ton of their crap, iChannel, BodyMo, etc., and each one costs monthly. They're very easy to forget about. If you go digging through the "my docomo" site, through the customer support stuff, eventually you'll find the options to cancel each of the stuff they signed you up for. They really do make it hard to get to.
Hello Guys,
I just bought a SGH-I9300 (GALAXY S3) from a guy over a local buy/sell website we have downhere (I am from Dominican Republic) and he told me that even though my phone is the International version if I upgrade from ICS to JellyBean it will not be able to acquire signal from the local carrier somehow.
I was ok with staying in ICS until I realized that the live camera effects where not working or installed for me...
So I have 2 questions for you guys:
1- Why the hell are they not there already if they are supossed to be there by default on a S3?
2- If I upgrade over the air, will it really lose the signal from the carrier?
Note the phone is rooted for some reason which I am not a fan of since I fried my I9100 a couple of days ago, so I want to keeo it as stock as as possible.
Let me know because I do not wish to mess this one up too.
Thanks in advance,
Dan.
Could you please provide a screenshot of the About-device screen in the config.
I'm not sure it's stock and/or even original
Afaik there is no difference between how Ics and Jb connect so I think the seller told you bolloks. Also, you can always downgrade but that will require you to wipe the phone - aka: you'll need backups
