I've got a suggestion for another ROM-feature:
At ICS you always have to use a lock pattern or PIN to unlock the screen if you're using certificates for WiFi (etc. "eduroam" at university"). So is ist possible to use the standard ICS lock screen while using certificates?

I have no Device Administrators activated (see picture) but even so doesn't allow me to change the lock screen to less than pattern. I think this was caused because I uninstalled Kies (not kies air) and somehow didn't remove administrative rights. Prior to uninstalling it I had configured Settings -> Security -> Remote controls.

Install a STOCK Rom. Find one for your device here on XDA. Then flash it. It will works and will come with Kies!

Flash the ROM again, or do a full wipe.
EDIT: Or install another locker, like WidgetLocker!

It's a good idea but, unfortunately, doesn't work. After unlocking with WidgetLocker I have to unlock next with the pattern unlock, so no advantage here.

I had the same issue. I found that if I deleted my vpn credentials I was then able to disable screen lock.
Very happy this thread was here. It was bugging me that I didnt know why i couldnt disable the screen lock.
I had the same problem, and came digging.. Saw the VPN reference and was hoping that was it, but it wasn't... I had VPN installed, but had removed the account, so nothing there to fix.
It did make me think about certificates though. I went in and disabled a few I didn't recognize, and POOF, that solved the problem.
I'm having a very similar problem, only it came about a little differently. I had corporate ActiveSync e-mail installed on my HTC DNA running stock Android v4.1.1. My IT department recently implemented new policies that require screen lock, remote wipe, etc. When they rolled out these policies I accepted them, except the change failed when it said my device was incompatible with the Remote desktop policy. But this change didn't occur until after the other policies were set.
I switched to Touchdown which is working well.
However, the old ActiveSync policies in the core OS are still being enforced. This causes me to enter two PINs to check my email... one for the device and one for Touchdown.
I've completely removed the ActiveSync account from the Android mail app. And I don't have the Device Administrators option listed in the Security menu.
However, my screen lock option for NONE is still grey because it's set by administrator policy.
How can I fix this?

Check if you have installed some certificate for wifi or email.

I have been using the GS2 for 3 months now with no issue. This Saturday when I was out with some friends I tried to use the camera and couldn't get it to turn on and a line "security policy restricts the use of camera" popped up. I checked the Exchange Policy in my Exchange account and sure enough it was disallowed but it mysteriously went back to normal after 24 hours. I then checked with my company's IT and he said he didn't touch it at all over the weekend. However after hearing about it he then proceeded to turn off the use of camera as he felt this is a security threat. Now both my GS2 and Galaxy Tab's camera is inoperable. However, other phones that are connected to the same Exchange including HTC Android phones, Blackberry and iPhone are unaffected with their camera still working. My IT is convinced that the Samsung exchange client is the problem. Has anyone else has this problem? I love my GS2 but if I cannot use Exchange then I will have to force to use something else.
Have you solve this Issue??
I`m having the same problem with Tablet and Exchange. I will check exchange policies.
Easily overcome, there are modded apks which bypass the policy. Here's my version which I've modified.

I assume your rooted, just copy and paste the apk into system/app using a root explorer and change permissions to:

He is convinced the Samsung client is the problem because it is obeying the policy he enforced? Confused...
The problem are the other clients, that he consider a threat. If he was serious he should ban the other phones...

how can i remove remove this security? its also restricted "Mass Storage" "USB connection" and the "Camera".
I already did "Flashing PDA" , "Factory Reset" and also I tried JTAG. I killed it because I tried to flash some file. but now its revive again.
policy lock is still on the phone, it has sign of padlock on top of the screen.
i think EFS reset can remove this kind of lock.
Better and simple (but it took hours for me to find it):
- Your GN2 needs root
- With Root Explorer or Total Commander, delete all files into \efs\security (especially the ones regarding DMM...)
- Backup with Titanium Backup if you wish to recover your apps.
- Boot into Recovery (Vol Up + Home + On/off) - Wipe all Data/Factory Reset - Wipe Cache
Of course, this will erase all on your mobile... including each security policy that has been implemented: Camera, SD Card, Bluetooth, USB connection, ....
Deleting DMM... without wiping will leave the security policies unchanged as DMM is read first by the GN2 at booting, and then other system files are modified accordingly.

it seems something is blocking my phone from accessing google's server. but i can access google search from the web browser
i've tried all solutions i can think of including restarting, clearing cache and dalvik, switching from wifi to data and vice versa. but its still showing the same message. i even removed my google account and try adding it back but the same message show, so now my phone don't have a google account connected to it, it's like totally being denied from google's services
What about trying a different account (I don't see it listed)? Or just call them

in the phone? i'm not aware of the steps. how do i do that?
BTW this phone have been with me since last year, everything is going fine. i only have this problem from last week, not sure what messed up
the starting problem is a NO CONNECTION error to the playstore., so i tried solving it by clearing cache from playstore, force stopping it, and even reinstalling it but still the same. so in the end i tried removing my google account and adding it back.....and here comes this problem
Settings/more settings/networks/apn.......check them against your provider settings......you can get those online or phone provider, alternatively contact Google, it might be their problem

i don't think it's google's problem, i have friends with the same phone with me, living in the same country and they can access google services with no problem
Try clearing play store data and Google services framework data and try logging in to play again, reboot first though

already tried all those steps before i decided to remove my google account and re-adding it.
i've checked my APN as well, nothing is wrong there. infact if the APN is the culprit i wouldn't be able to connect if im running on mobile network only, but now even on wifi i'm not able to connect
I would contact Google, might just be a glitch on your account?

feeling relieved now, i was thinking if this solution failed i would have to use nandroid restore
I'm trying to build my own cloud server, namely owncloud... It works with plain http, but I want to convert it to ssl before going to "production" use... One of the problems is that I want to import a self signed certificate to my phone, without it complaining about "third party might be..." and without the complaint being visible all the time at status bar...
How do I import a self signed certificate to the phone? And get it to show in trusted credentials without the complaint? Other than the obvious settings -> security -> install from device memory/sd card. That is what I have tried so many times and this leads to the complaint I mentioned above.
Thanks!

Nothing? No ideas? Am I doing something so wrong that there is no "point" to answer?
I dont think anyone knows anything about this hence the lack of replies.
Perhaps reaching out to general android forum
Do you mean the warning in the browser that the connection is not trustable ?
By the way, have you tried using the owncloud app ? It doesn't verifies the identity of the server, thus doesn't complain if you don't have an validated ssl certificate.
Well. There's a way. First install your certificate normally. Then you just have to make it as a system included certificate (move it using aroma file manager).
To do that just look at my screenshot. Those are the directories that you will care about.
Of course don't forget to set correct permissions at the end.

I HARD RESET my Old Samsung S6 EDGE and wipe cache partion as well (from boot menu) and now I m stuck at FRP Lock. I used the exact Samsung user/password but it cant log me into, instead it just reverts to existing screen. I can easily login to Samsung account on web with this id/pass but not in mobile Why is it not letting me in with the correct user/password? It doesnt give any error either, it just goes back to earlier login screen and/or do nothing.

Looks like it was somehow corrupted. It may be a one time glitch such as a SEU or a hardware failure.
In the future delete the Google account first, then do the factory reset in settings rather than off the boot menu... to add an extra margin of safety.
FRP is a menace... Google keeps piling on the security junk making the devices a true pain to use, less reliable and more inefficient.
Fixing it. The fixes on the internet or take it to a Samsung Experience center at a Best buy.

Thank u very much bro, I managed to get to the phone setting by some FRP Unlock App, then I factory reset the phone again from android settings but it works the same way again. Do u think Flashing the mobile will be the last resort (I dont wanna do this, since I wanna keep the original official stock rom). I can get to setting but not the home with FRP Unlock App. Problem is the Samsung Account lock screen keeps coming and prevents everthing. How to disable this?

You're welcome.
XDA doesn't allow posting hacks for FRP even if I did know how to. I'm very careful to make sure it's never tripped. I've been locked out of a bios before over a corrupted password. It happens, best not to set one whenever possible. If you get into a boot loop on an Android and can't access safe mode or repair it then a boot menu factory reset is the only option. If the password then fails you're right were you are now.
The easiest(?) most secure way is if you can get Samsung to do it for you.

This you?
Make sure all needed permissions are enabled including in all associated apps like Wearables.
Try a network reset.
Try a hard reboot.
Clear system cache on the boot menu.
Try in safe mode.
Was the phone factory reset after the last major firmware upgrade? Was SmartSwitch used?
What do you mean by "Make sure all needed permissions are enabled". Which apps are needed to check the permissions?
Why should I need to reset network settings?
Already tried cache clear but did not work.
I think I should need to know on which apps this function depend as I disabled bixby, AR and other things i don't need when i bought the phone 2 years ago. But the Device output function was working then.
Tanks in advanced,

Look in the individual app settings under permissions. Android 12 may have other grouped options for this. The app may not have auto setup permissions properly.
Always try network reset when having connectivity issues; you'll need to reconfigure bt and wifi settings after this. Probably VPN too if you use it.
Those apps you disabled aren't dependencies or parent apps. Others may be... Google play Services maybe as well as some Samsung system apps. Not sure as Pie doesn't have that feature. Not present in Q either, I believe.
Play with it, explore settings, read other's solution (doesn't need to be the same model or even OS version to be applicable many times) eventually you'll find the solution.
Which is the app are you alking about checking its permissions?

All related apps... I'm not holding the device. Unfortunately there's always a learning curve with Androids.
edit: On second thought I'm sure a factory reset would do something for you.
What I tried to pilitely point is that your answersars have no value. And, of course there's a learning curve everywhere so it would be nice next time you reply on the forums you make sure you've already attained the learning curve point.
If someone knows what should I check in order to fix the issue, it would be nice to let me know
If it's not the case, It would also be very nice to not make people lose their time.
Thank you so much.
