Hey guys I love my xperia but... The stock rom suckssssss. And cause my bl is locked most of the custom roms won't work on my phone...
I oppened this topic to know if someone knew what exactly is the bootoader unlocking I mean how it works (do bootloader unlocker delete and rewrite the bootloader or juste change a setting in it? Can it ne done with the developplment tool? Etc...)
Plz do not explain me that bootloader unlocking is the process that I need to install custom roms etc... I know what it is but I want to understand HOW it works.

[Q] Just bought xperia s

Hello there,
I just bought xperia s yesterday
I used arc, but since yesterday I fell in love with xperia s.
Emm.. what I wanna ask is, is it worth to unlock my xperia s and root it?
Cause I know development on xperia s forum isnt so stable yet..
I'm scared I'm going to brick my Xperia S..
And then Im at Indonesia.
Which ftf shud I flash?
Generic world?

I think you can flash central europe as you can remove more apps without root.
I am not sure if it has the asian language. I am currently using Singapore firmware which contains chinese and japanese keyboard.
In my opinion, if you are not planning to use custom ROM, you might as well wait till ICS released for rooting purpose. At that time, there should be a way to root without unlocking bootloader

I'm using German as my primary language
So I think the central europe will work..
Well.. actually I'm planning to use a costum ROM..
But its just a plan.. I haven't see all of the costume ROMs here..
But I think I'll wait till someone made root without unlocking bootloader possible.
Thanks for your answer

Nothing bad cause it is allowed from sony itself
They speak that you will loose the drm key or something like that but I don't know what is useful for.
Don't worry,For warranty reasons you can lock it again.

you can lock your bootloader again,
but u wont get the DRM key again..
as far as i know (if im not mistaken) DRM key is useful for warranty,
if u unlocked ur XS, then you void your warranty..
anyway, ive unlocked my phone and rooted..
so this thread can be locked

Untill now,
root can only be achieved by flashing pre rooted.img via fastboot..
If u want to know wether ur phone is already unlocked or not, try unlocking ur phone via fastboot like what u did.
On the cmd will be written,
'"Phone already unlocked"

Relock Bootloader from Xperia P

Hi,
im German, my English is not good, but
I try it.
I have unlocked my Bootloader and flashed the Advanced Stock Kernel, and KA03 Sspeed Rom.
now I want to relock my Bootloader, but i have the Custom Kernel...
is my phone bricked, wenn I relock the Bootloader with Custom Kernel?
please help me, I want the Original Sony Firmware....
Thanks and Sorry for bad English
Sent from my LT22i using xda app-developers app
It shouldn't be bricked, but if you want to send it for RMA, you should flash the stock firmware first. Locked bootloader + custom kernel will cause confusion. Also from the hivemind's experience they do repair unlocked phones in Germany.
i' ve understand a little bit, but not all.
Sry I'm German
also can i relock my P without Brick? or not?
Can you try it again ))?
Thanks

Yes bro he's right...
Only with ICS this cam be possible..
And the way things are looking and the latest which I read in Sony forum a guy frm UK asked for the date of update of ICS of Sola. On Sony Facebook page and he got an answer which was heartbreaking and disappointing "Q4 was the ans frm Sony ie; by the year end!!! "

1) there is a relocking bootloader. Tft file which relocks your bootloader only { DRM KEYS WONT RETURN}which will help you to bypass Sonys altered software error while updating it through SEUS or PC Companion n you can update your device without any problem to latest firmware....
2) No performance change is noticed rather the performance wil increase if you using custom roms...
3)it works only for Xperia 2011 device

Hi for now, there are no known ways of rooting the locked Sola bootloader.
There are successful methods for this on ICS but not gingerbread, for now. I have tried so many.
Thanks for replies. Thread moved to the Q & A.
so we w8 ICS or FXP its like a race! xD
I got tired of waiting and crazy rumours so I did it, unlocked myself. I wanted root that much. Plus, I read B4anry explain in a comment exactly how Sony treats locked/unlocked bootloader, depending on what you've done, and I think I'm safe. He knows his stuff obviously!

s-on s-off

I rooted my Neo some time ago, but I'm not sure whether it has S-OFF. How can I check? Thanks.
I had my Neo in original GB. I rooted it using this Flashtool procedure: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1709880. And the phone is with ICS now.
May I unlock bootloader now? And how?

These are 2 methods to unlock Bootloader
1. testpoint - I used that and it's really simple
2. Officialy
I prefer testpoint so here u are --> http://androidflip.com/unlock-xperia-phones-bootloader-without-losing-drm-data-track-id-working/
I would say go for official one.. because it is easy and anything official is great

Yess bro you are right.. but See basically once you unlock your bootloader and even if u again lock it, its in re-locked state and not locked state.. whatever it is.. once u unlock the bootloader you void your warrenty anyways.. so even if we lose DRM whats the big deal?
Because if that was the case then at first place we would not root the phone or unlock the bootloader.. we know what we have to face after doing it

No not always.. there are some roms wich u cannot flash having a locked bootloader.. but there are some.. here is the link for one..

This might help you.. for locked bootloader.. its a superb rom too.. dont forget to thank ghostfreak nb..
And yes, once you use flashtool, you will lose your warrenty.. cant help it there..
Hit thanks if i helped you..

lost DRM is not important !
You can repair your phone using sus whenever you want to by just relocking bl !

It's not same.
lack of DRM certificate can easily be seen/spotted in service center, just by connecting phone to one program, which is not the case with "re-locked" or "un-patched" phone whose BL has been unlocked unofficialy via s1tool.

Well, if you flash fw for same region then there is no way to know that phone has been flashed with flashtool.
And if "you" are smart enough you will make backup ftf before you star messing with your phone.
Or smart enough to know how to trick SEUS or PCC to flash different fw, by editing build.prop.
Just FYI, my BL was unofficially unlocked, flashed so many times (though before service center I flashed it with correct region) and they replaced my motherboard with no problems.

So who ever put DRM in the first place was stupid, right?
That's your opinion, but you can't say it's not important.

[Q] Is there any stock ftf files ( ICS )for unlocked bootloader xperia sola ?

Hello everyone
I have a problem that I can't find a solution for it till now ..
I have unlocked my bootloader for my xperia sola to install a custome roms for it cuz most of roms need an unlocked one .. but I always keep a copy from stock ics ftf files and its kernals to reinstall it if i do something wrong with the other roms ..
the problem is that these ( ftf ) files need a locked bootloader to install them .. so if I do something wrong during installing any rom or my phone goes like a dead and not able to restart I will not be able to flash these stock files due to the unlocked bootloader which I will not be able to locked it again cuz my phone can not be open again !!
so I want a stock files ( ics ) and kernals for unlocked bootloader ??
I am sorry to post something is easy to get like that but I am still beginner ..
thanks in advance
NO flashing wit flashtool does not require locked bootloader.
Unlocking bootloader simply enable you to boot with non stock kernel.
Sorry I think that I misunderstand your comment..
My question is what should I do if I want to flash stock kernal or ftf files with unlocked bootloader ??
