Interested in the Amaze! - HTC Amaze 4G

Hey guys,
I'm interested in the Amaze and I've got some questions! I currently have a G2x and am pretty disgusted that it's reached its EOL status already even though it's more than capable of running ICS. Besides, the battery life was just awful (can't make it through 2 whole days) and I like the larger screen, better processor, and more RAM of the Amaze.
Since it's by HTC, I can assume that when Jelly Bean comes along, the Amaze will be receiving it officially, right? If not, has there been any history with getting the drivers that are needed to do unofficial development? There are lots of unofficial ICS ROMs for the G2x but there's no hardware acceleration and the battery life is terrible on those (can't even make it through a single day).
How's the battery life on the Amaze? How many days of use can you make it through without having to charge the device? As long as its like 1.5 days I'll be satisfied. I just don't want the "15% of battery remaining" messages if I just charged the device the night before.
It has a Micro SD card slot, right?
Would I need a screen protector or is the screen very scratch-resistant?
Any other problems I should know about that are common with the phone? Please be HONEST! lol.
Thanks, brosephs!

I have no idea on the official update.
For me, 1.5 days is the maximum for battery life. But, it usually is enough for a day in general (except when I use lots of GPS and play games).... YMMV though (some people claimed they get the phone up for 2 days)
Yes, it has micro SD card slot.
Just go get a screen protector... Better be safe than sorry
Some common problems can be found in this forum... The most popular one is: light bleed!!!
Honestly though, the reason I get the Amaze is because I was able to get it for a relatively cheap price (compared to samsung s2, etc) and the better camera

First off and take it how you will, but most of the info you are looking is on the spec list.
Battery life on any large screen device won't last 1.5 days with heavy use.
Haven't these same questions been asked a billion times?
Cheers

Not really; I was confused about the SD card slot b/c I did see it on a few spec sheets but in a couple video reviews there was no mention of one and I didn't see one. Thanks for the battery info though.

Amaze and g2x have same frustrations. Wait for sgs3

Really? That's exactly the kind of answer I was hoping I wouldn't get. Oh well. At least you guys have ICS lol. I don't want to buy new so that I can save some money so the SGS3 is out of the question. It's basically either stick with the G2x until the prices on even better phones drop, or buy the Amaze and deal with the battery issue. I won't mind terribly if I don't get more than a day's use out of it. All I really do is check the news in the morning and text a few times throughout the day and then check some sites, browse some forums, and watch some videos in the evening. I think it'll be alright for that kind of use.

Hardly... Sense 3.6... No AOSP, CM9, or Sense 4.0. No WiFi drivers. We've got a potentially great device with no support from HTC and is EOL with Tmobile. Stay away bro

About the Amaze. WIFI calling issues, er05 common. Nice scratch resistant screen. The devs that take good care of us are working hard at picking up all the slack that Tmobile and HTC left with issue. I own one as my daily phone. using speedrom as my daily driver. Jellybean is not going to be on the Amaza as a OTA. We were lucky to get ICS. White one is out of stock and Tmobile told me they are done. I enjoy the phone cause of replaceable batt, ext. sd card, screen and camara.
Just one persons opinion

Aww. I want a relatively cheap, used phone with a 4.3" display, official ICS, and 1GB of RAM but i guess it doesn't exist!

I think it's a great device, coming from the galaxy s2 and galaxy nexus, battery life isn't the best, but I get a days worth, the camera is pretty awesome, what I liked was the camera buttons, I wanted my sd card, reason why I jumped ship from the Nexus. So as I always say, it's all down to personal preference.

Man... If that's all u want... The Amaze is prolly your best bet. Now is perfect time to buy. It's value is half of what it was when it was released and is twice as nice as it was then. I love the phone, its just already dated. If u can get it for
It's the best phone with its specs imho

I would stay saw too sorry to say. It is a great device and I still don't regret choosing this over the GS2. Great hardware for the future and the few ROMs and Devs that we are lucky to have are fantastic. But for a more "fun" device to tinker with... I would wait for something better or get a device that has global support and the devs to back it up.

Lol. It's gonna be at least a year until that falls into my price range for now. I'll stick with my G2x and MIUI for now. I just really wanted ICS and some spec bumps while i was at it. :/ Maybe I'll consider the HTC Sensation depending on how the 'lite' version of the Sense 4.0 ROM turns out.

As I said, personal preference, for me the following are worth getting the amaze for compared to the G2x:
Better Camera (wayyyyyyy better camera, this thing is amaaaazing, pun intended)
Faster processor and faster phone over all.
Better design and solid feel.
FM radio, unlike the g2x which has fm radio but tmobile had it disabled.
More internal memory 16GB>8GB, like really, that's obvious.
faster data speeds 42mbps>21mbps
Should I say more?

With ICS battery isn't so bad, but you need to be aware that the large screen eats up the battery. I get 18 hours to 1 day, but I don't have a heavy usage. I carry a spare battery (two in fact, because my case has that kind of room), just in case. But I've seldom had to use it since ICS came out. With heavy use you may not get through the day on a single screen. But at least you can swap out batteries (unlike the One S).
The MicroSd card is under the battery cover, which is why it isn't seen from the outside.
The phone is the best I've owned. I'm using NRG ICS, which is snappy and really nice.
It will not get Jelly Bean from T-Mobile. Maybe XDA will be able to port it, but don't count on that.

Are you happy with your Atrix?

I just got a Thrill 4G and Im thinking about trading it in for an Atrix. The phone is great but the battery life sucks, and I cannot see the 3D screen with sun glasses on. I live in AZ so they are on every time I go outside so that is an important deciding factor for me.
The Atrix is $49 today so Im thinking about getting one. I'd love to hold out for the SGS2, but who knows when it will be out and it will prob be $199.
So, would you buy an Atrix again if you had to do it over again?
If I wouldn't of had to sell my first ATRIX I wouldn't have. My fave phone!
Tapped from my ATRIX.
No-brainer imo --- the atrix is FAR superior; I'll admit that with stock gingerbread the phone is kinda meh....still an awesome phone but nothing mindblowing. I assume since you're here you'll be unlocking and flashing it...which makes the phone AMAZING. The 3-D stuff just seems so gimmicky to me and won't be perfected/well-implemented for a good amount of time to come.
As far as the SGS2, on paper it looks like an amazing phone but I'll have to wait to see - I had the captivate and was so disappointed with it (anyone that had that phone from the beginning knows how horrendous Samsung's support was). I hope that Samsung has learned a lot since the beginning of the GS line because a phone with such amazing hardware shouldn't have so many problems.

I actually know exactly what you mean because I bought my Captivate a couple days after it was released. I still have it, dont use it, but I was really happy with it after flashing ROMS on it. The development forum on that phone is fantastic.
Yes, I would never have a stock phone. Did they ever get the bootloader unlocked on this phone? I know that was the major reason that people hesitated to get it.
i love my atrix. nothing out there is better to me. im running CM7 beta on it right now. so fast.
With CM7 , everything is happy
Love it, fast, nice camera, nice speaker, good gaming performance with THD games, great community.

I didn't miss it because I wasn't looking for it. I don't have an Atrix and was asking a question.
Everything I've read says that the Atrix also has poor battery life. I saw a thread on a battery calibration and mod that is supposed to help. I dont want to trade ina phone with bad battery life for another phone with bad battery life.
Both have a dual core CPU but the Atrix has 1GB of RAM which is nice IMO. I cant see the Thrill 3D screen with sunglasses on which sucks to me. The 3D is very gimmicky and hurts my eyes, lol. And there is only one ROM and the dev's seems to be bailing on this phone so I don't see a very good future in the Thrill dev threads.

Bad battery life reports are the vocal minority. Most of us here consider the battery to be one of the Atrix's strong points. I can get 2 1/2 days with light usage on mine with CM7 installed on it. Thats with wifi set to never sleep, and with GPS and 3G/HSPA enabled.
I love the Atrix. Literally the only problem I have with it is the pentile display, and even then its a very minor issue.
It has a 1930mAh and all the review sites i've read say the battery life is very good. Flashing a custom rom will make it even better! People have been getting like 16-24 hrs with Wifi and everything on, constantly browsing the internet and playing games (read it on youtube)
This is my first Android phone. Came from 4 years with the iPhone. Ill tell you this...not looking back. This phone was great stock. Now running cm7, this thing is fuggin amazing... battery and performance are nothing short of great.

The Atrix is an incredibly solid device. Gotta give AT&T credit for getting a top-notch device out of Motorola.
well it sounds like you guys are quite happy with it. If the battery life is that great then it's a no-brainer for $49.99. I do believe hat Im gonna return my thrill today. It a cool phone, but im a power user and ROM flashing addict so it seems i'll fit right in.

Good choice. The only HTC that is a solid Atrix competitor on AT&T (candybar Android w/o keyboard) is the Inspire4G, but honestly, after several HTC devices and several Moto devices, HTC may come up with cool designs and features, but Moto is great at implementing reliable, high-performing designs. I've never gotten the "oh, that is cheap" feeling with a Moto phone, while Samsung and HTC . . . meh!
Typically find out people who are complaining about battery life have heavy usage that would have even worse battery life on other phones. You had a captivate like I did, so I can tell you this phones battery kicks the **** out of the captivates....and will be even more amazing should you decide to UV it.
If you want to see a GOD AWFUL battery, **** around with an HTC inspire for about 6 hours lol.
Anyway, I think you should at least give the Atrix a try and worst case scenario you don't like it you bring it back within the 30 day window (assuming you will have one).

I guess I'm the lone dissenter here. I'm not a fan of the Atrix. Maybe I got a lemon but it seems like there are a lot of problems.
The build quality is suspect. Dust and even a very small piece of cat hair has gotten under the screen. The back plate/battery cover feels cheap and creaks when I hold it. The GPS is rarely able to get a lock on my position, rendering it useless. Also, bluetooth connection is unreliable. I've tried 2 vehicle systems and 3 headsets. They are all able to pair fine, but lose connection in the middle of phone calls.
And if you've done research on the Atrix I'm sure you've read all about Motoblur and how ugly it makes the UI. It's all true. I'm on gingerbread and I have to say its hideous. The stock in-call screen, dialer and photo gallery all look like something designed by an elementary student.
Can you flash it and fix the ugliness of the UI? I'm not a techy but from what I've read the answer seems to be mixed. It would appear yes you can just as long as the OTA update of gingerbread has not been installed on the phone. If it has, you're either screwed or prepare to spend the next 3 years of your life reading up on how to hack the device.
On the positive side, believe everything you've seen about the Atrix's speed. By far the fastest phone I've ever used. The screen is nice and bright as well.

There are many options to get rid of the stock gingerbread Motoblur look. The obvious choice is CM7, which will do away with Blur entirely, and make your phone quite a bit quicker. Most themes available in XDA will get rid of the Blur look, and there is a huge selection in the App and Theme section. I use the ext4 Homebase Rom with his Honeycomb theme, and it significantly speeds up my phone.
I would recommend the Atrix over other Android phones for a few reasons. The biggest reason why I like it so much is because of the form factor. I like the 4 inch screen more than 4.3 or 4.5 or 9.3. Battery life has been pretty good, at least as good as I can reasonably expect from a smartphone. The hardware specs are comparable to any other Android device, and if you're willing to root and flash custom Roms, you will notice a marked improvement over stock performance (which I think is true of any Android phone). What really makes this phone as slick as it is are its accessories. I just bought the lapdock from Vancouver Craigslist for $150 and I love it. I knew when I bought it that it was kind of gimmicky (like the 3D from your Thrill), but for what I need this tool for, it's been outstanding. Nothing beats watching Game of Thrones and Breaking Bad on my hour commute to work while simultaneously charging my phone!
I love my Atrix, and it's a shame the phone got such a bad wrap off the bat due poor implementation of Blur on 2.2, and encrypted bootloader. Now with the unlocked bootloader and better blur, in addition to more and more custom roms being built, this phone is coming closer to its potential. I wish it had a metal back plate, but I understand the potential of worse reception and getting hotter than the plastic cover. All in all, the only phone I would remotely consider exchanging my Atrix for would be the Sensation, and even then I think I'd really have to be sold on the idea. I hope this helps with your decision.
Cm7 is a must on the atrix. I've tried other roms but none ever worked quite right. Annoying fc & other errors - but thanks to those devs for putting in the time & effort. Blur is complete crap: I couldn't even listen to my mp3s without the music stuttering bcuz the phone was busy searching for "suggestions" of similar songs I may like. Damn you, for the unwanted marketing on my device, at&t & Motorola. For a while, I very much regretted trading in my iPhone. But now all is well. Thank you cm7 devs!
So I just got my Atrix
It has 1.2.6 as a build on it, and from reading I'm not finding too much information on that build. I don't think that I want to do the OTA to 4.1.57 though because I keep reading about bricks. I'm going to put a ROM on it, more than likely CM7 so Im not sure what good it would do to update OTA. I'll have to root it though so I guess I can get on that first but all of the root guides are for 1.8.x and up.

Thinking of switching from galaxy nexus to resound. Quick questions.

Greetings earthlings. I was thinking about making the switch from the gnex to the rznd. I was wondering if there were any stock roms out there (no sense). Also how does flashing a rom work with s on? And finally anything else I should consider before making the switch?

You should consider that the Nexus sucks and the Rezound is amazing.
Just kidding, but the Rezound really is better. I've only had HTC phones, so I don't know how the Nexus flashes ROMs, but we can do it right in recovery. The only (small) hassle is that we have to flash kernels through the bootloader, but our devs have come a long way in simplifying that process. There are a few ROMs that are stripped of Sense as well.

Also, as best I understand it, you will not be able to flash alternate radios or splash screens.
As the responder above me indicated, there are no straight AOSP ROMs at this time. Check through the Android Development section and see if any of the "Senseless" ROMs fit your needs.

Having owned both the Nexus and the Rezound, I dumped the Nexus and went back to the Rezound. You won't regret it.
The Rezound was only unlocked last week so roms are a little limited at the moment. However, we have some great devs working on it.

I made the switch from a SGN.... I must say, your going to miss some things that the Nexus had (ICS), but your really going to love things the Rezound brings to the table. There are a handful of roms out now. I think the Senseless rom you'll have to install a 3rd party Launcher. I've come to really enjoy Sense... I;ve read about people wanting to get Sense off thousands of times... My only question is... Why? It actually functions quite awesome...
I'm quite happy with the Rezound, the Dev Support is great, and I'm almost positive there will be quite a few more by the 15th when everyone returns their Nexus because the Reception and speaker both are terrible!!
Good luck..
Don't forget the Rezound will be getting ICS soon as well. It's only a temporary loss.

Soon? More like next fall.
i too am thinking of switching from Gnexus to Rezound.
I think in a couple months the truth is going to come out that the Gnexus is actually quite a very subpar phone.
PenTile matrix display, abysmal battery life, and the extremely poor camera quality are enough to have me switch to the rezound.
here is my main concern though, what kind of battery life do you guys get? with my gnexus LTE enabled all day, i could only get about 2 hours of on-screen time. what about the rezound?
thanks in advanced.
Thanks for all the info! Does android wifi tether currently work with rooted rezounds? Also are speeds on lte better? (Noticed lower speeds on gnex)
Sent from my Galaxy Nexus
yes wifi tether does work.
I currently just traded my GNEX for a Rezound.
Best choice I've made.
As the GNEX is a great phone.
The Rezound is just amazing.
You won't be upset if you do choose to trade up.
S-ON isn't too bad since we have root.
S-OFF would be ideal, but I'm plenty happy with what we have and is to come
I came from a GNEX and really, really like this phone. The thing that impressed me the most is the screen.
The GNEX has a big, beautiful screen but the colors seemed kind of washed out. The Rezound, the colors just pop and seem very vibrant. Greens are a brilliant green, red's are brilliant red. It's hard to explain, but it is very noticeable.
I also noticed a considerable difference in the camera quality on the Rezound compared to the GNEX. Sure, you're not going to take 20 photos in a second with the Rezound but you do get better quality pictures. Feature wise, both phones offer the same recording features/
I have flashed a couple roms, it was very easy and am very encouraged by the development work that is going on.
I'm one of those few people who actually like Sense, so I really do like what HTC has done with the UI. The ICS dialer pissed me off to no end, it was huge bulky and just seemed very.. blah. While the Sense dialer isn't better, it is at least a bit more functional.
One last thing I would throw out there is that I never knew about the UOT Kitchen (can't link yet, but search the forums and you'll find it) until I happened across a post in this forum. I have to say, it is one of the coolest and easiest ways to give your phone your own personal flair. I'm sure that ICS / GNEX will be supported on the Kitchen but for now, you at least get that benefit on the Rezound.
Anyway, hope this helps somewhat.

i too am thinking of switching from Gnexus to Rezound.
I think in a couple months the truth is going to come out that the Gnexus is actually quite a very subpar phone.
PenTile matrix display, abysmal battery life, and the extremely poor camera quality are enough to have me switch to the rezound.

I can't give a good answer to that as my area isn't 4G... I have chargers everywhere in my house and at my office so Battery Life isn't such an issue for me. I have flashed two roms today and have been playing with it non-stop all day and I think it has been on the charger maybe two hours.. Maybe someone in a 4g area could respond to that better.. I do know that on a normal day, it is way way better than my Nexus... The batt life was HORRID on it.. On the Rezound I wouldn't consider getting the bigger battery, because the battery isn't that bad for me.. In 8 days of owning the SGN, my battery went dead 3x... Rezound hasn't gone dead yet..
I loved the SGN... I'll be the first to tell you.. If it had a louder speaker and a better reception, I'd still have it... But the rezound has a awesome speaker, and the reception is hands down as good as my Droid X or better...
Its a big decision for you to make.. I don't think you will be unhappy making the switch...
I made the switch. I miss ics miss
I don't miss the poor battery life.
I don't miss the loud signal in reno
I don't miss the soso camera
I don't miss the plastic cheap feel.
I have the bigger rezound battery. I haven't used it. The stock battery seems fine.
I love the camera.
It's really fast.
I think I like the 720 screen better on the rezound.
Beats is lame. The headphones are heavy and barely stay in my ears.
I'm not a fan of sense but I don't hate it.
I will keep the rezound. It just works.

I agree.
We have both phones on our corporate VZ account. I am in charge of that account and get my phones for free.
If I wanted a GN I could have one tomorrow, but I am not impressed with the GN AT ALL and I couldn't wait to get one for months before it was actually released.
I do like the huge screen size, I wish my Rezound had a 5" screen, but there is absolutely NOTHING ELSE I like about the GN.

For me it turned out to be more simple than I thought, I had been up for an upgrade for about 6 months (previous phone BB Curve). I was debating on specs and features of the Razr, GN, and Rezound. I would go back and fourth on what i really wanted. But as soon as I waled into the store and actually picked up the phone, i knew which one I wanted. Razr felt horrible in the hand and just down right uncomfortable (i am really not a thin kinda guy). GN felt as if even with a case it would break at even the smallest drop. But the RZ felt solid even w/o a case.
Even after looking at how the phones worked, it still went to the RZ. Now my decision was even more correct now that I have it fully rooted.
I get great battery life (for the type of phone)
Great platform for whatever I use my phone for
Great picture quality
and a VERY solid device that I have a feeling I will be happy with for 2 more years.

Lots of threads address this in the general section. Quickly:
Yes worth it.
Battery life is awesome.
When it freezes you hold down power for like 10 seconds or something like that.

UGH im so tired of hyper-vague thread titles

"should i do this?"
"what happens when i?"
"what would you do if?"
ask the question or give at list a hint of what youre talking about.... whyd i even click on this?
anyways i used to be opposed to unremovable batts but you can always hard reset and thats fine... usually makes the phone more slim and form fitting...
although i miss the days of pulling that tab on my droid x and breaking it to get the battery out, resorting to a butterknife or something...

you've been on this forum for 1 month and only have 7 post and you are already hating on someones post? This is in the Q&A so I had no problem with his question, and if you don't understand the title simple just don't click on it..
anyways-
Great phone.
Beautiful display
Very fast!
but if you want to wait for the extra 1gig of ram on the GSIII It would be understandable. But according to Engadget, they still like the EVOlte better because of the physical camera button and the kickstand. Also from what I've been reading the extra ram isn't really going to come into play to much.

im just still wondering why im always still to this day seeing ppl all worried about removable battery and such. how many times do you actual take the batter out of your phone a day and why do you need to take it out anyways? and if you burn the battery up anyways sprint will replace it on them so i just dont see why there are so many out there that worry about that. sorry if i sound like a jerk cuz im really not trying to be.
with that said the phone is flat out beautiful. needs a few software updates to get the little kinks worked out but other than that its just amazing in my opinion.
and yes the battery life is great!

Battery life.....purely awesome........
well if you got money or you really wanna use an upgrade but i think its working good enough now to go ahead and buy one, i mean its not like its a custom ROM where there are still problems with things that just flat out dont work ya know. everything on mine works great. only complaint i have which idk if its suppose to be like this or not is it get kinda warm up around the camera while using it but other then that like i said it works great.

Definitely an upgrade from the OG Evo. I was hesitant at first, I didn't want to get the phone as soon as it comes out because usually the first few batches have kinks that need to be worked out. But I'm confident with this phone, all the technology in it has been around for some time, so its well put together. Still waiting to see how LTE performs, but that wont be for a while.
As for battery life, its awesome. I've actually gone almost two days (at least 40 hours) now without charging it, of course that was light to moderate usage (visiting some websites, a few calls and texts, taking pictures, navigating through menus, downloading some apps). The OG Evo could barely get a day out of it. Not having a removable battery might be a problem for some, but I'm sure HTC has safeguards in place in case the phone freezes. And remember, iPhones do not have a removable battery, and all those trendy apple fanboys are tickled pink to buy a new iphone every year.
I'd give the Evo LTE 10/10... In my opinion (or in my case, anyways) its the best phone ive ever had.

Hell me get back to Android w/ the DNA....

Hey guys, quick back story. I have been an Android user for several years. I've had phones such as the Incredible, Charge, Thunderbolt. Rezound, Razr Maxx and Galaxy S3. I just recently got rid of my Galaxy S3 for a HTC 8X Windows 8 Phone. I was getting tired of Android and constantly flashing ROM's. I was a flashaholic and had to get myself away lol.
Anyhow, after about a week with the 8X, I really like the phone and OS. However, I'm starting to miss Android. I miss the larger screens and wealth of apps.
Fast forward to today and I'm sitting here considering switching back. And if I do, I'm not getting another GS3 since I've already been there, done that so to speak. My frontrunner is the DNA.
I know nobody can make the decision for me, but I want opinions! Should I switch back, and would this be the phone to get?
I also have a couple questions before I jump back:
1. On my Rezound, homescreen scrolling lag in Sense absolutely killed that phone for me. I can't stand any type of scrolling lag and I'm very sensitive to it. Does that exist on the DNA, or is that a thing of the past? Please be honest.
2. I see that the phone can already be rooted, but does the future look bright in that department?
3. I think I know the answer, but I will throw it in there. For normal, moderate usage, is the battery life acceptable? On par with the GS3?
Thanks guys!
hey man. so yeah launcher lag was bad on rezound. however, in sense 4+, they tightened it up and it's very rigid and never lags.. ever. all 7 of my screens are full of widgets and icons and it's smooth.
battery I tend to get 12 hours with 3 hours screen on time. pretty much the same as my s3.
not sure about rooting yet since I'm still chillin on stock haha
Sent from my HTC Droid DNA using Tapatalk 2
I'll answer #2 the phone seems to have a very talented dev team. Already there are a few Roms and kernels. the future looks bright. As of now I know people are working on Asop and even viper rom.

No lag
Bright future, there are some great devs for this phone already
On par or slightly better.
Sent from my HTC6435LVW using xda app-developers app
No lag whatsoever....period. I came from a thunderbolt and that too would drive me crazy, even with a polished rom and without widgets. I'm not sure if it's Project Butter, Jelly Bean, Sense 4+, 2g of RAM or the insane processor in this thing that makes it run smoothly. Probably a little bit of all of that.
Battery life is good enough for me. I work in and out of 4G area at work but I am on wifi pretty much the rest of the time and it has been awesome. Never charge mid day anymore. Always with 20 to 30 % by the time I go to bed. And the wireless charger is awesome. Highly recommend it. I find myself using youtube more often than I should because of the awesome screen too. I would say I am an average user.
Have not found a reason yet to root. I will wait until it becomes more stable, easier before I go that route. But I'm sure there will be good ROM in the future....at least I hope so.
Ok guys, I'm pretty convinced that I'm gonna give the DNA a shot. One thing I noticed about this HTC 8X Windows Phone is that it locked on satellites really fast. Much, much, much faster than my GS3. It also had better reception than my GS3. Can I expect the same things on the DNA or might that have been a Windows thing?

The s3 just has horrible radios.
Sent from my HTC6435LVW using xda app-developers app
I doubt the development will be here that long. Look at the Thunderbolt. They had to wait for ports.
I've owed many smartphones and used/supported countless others. (including the gs3) The DNA is the first phone that has ever even come close to keeping up with me and the speed at which my brain operates. Zero lag period, regardless of how many apps you have running. I haven't even considered OC'ing and that's usually the first thing I do. The battery is decent and better then most. I typically charge over night and once mid-day. Most other phones I've had to charge 2 - 3 times a day. The dev scene is about average for a phone this new and s-on. Once s-off is achieved I expect it to blow up.
The DNA is the first phone that I've had that wouldn't bother me if there wasn't a big development team behind it. Like you I was/am a flashaholic, but honestly with a couple of Mods I've been golden on this phone. It's snappy, the radios are great (looking at you Samsung) GPS is phenomenal, and battery is pretty much the same as the GS3. Wireless charging is a plus, awesome to just sit it down and let it charge overnight, or on my desk at work.
The phone works great out of the box, only a couple of annoyances for me was the bloat, Wi-Fi reminder, and battery icon, I love everything else. Sense has come a long way since the thunderbolt (last HTC phone I owned). If you had to be stuck with a manufacturer's skin, Sense would be my pick.

What do you mean by that? I got the TB about a week after releases adn there were A LOT of roms being made. What you are talking about is a little bit after the major devs started jumping ship. I think the Thunderbolt had it's fair share of roms
I hope the DNA gets a fully working MIUI; I really like the themes you can get on MIUI
My thunderbolt kept giving me a roaming flashing triangle whenever I ran an MIUI rom which started driving me crazy.

Goodbye, sort of.

Everybody is making goodbye threads so I guess I will join in on the fun.
I have the HTC One now and am loving it. All of you Rezound people should seriously consider it. Anyway, I still peek in here every now and then since I still have my rezound. It is just collecting dust now. So, good luck with the limited life this phone has left.

I trust your judgement..do you really think it's worth it to get the one? I've got a dumb phone with an upgrade and I've got unlimited so I'm not worried about that stuff..
My hesitance is because of the same thing everyone else says: basically I'll get a beautiful fast fun phone but I'll be stuck with the 32gb (which my Rezound has and has been kind of full lately (internal app space), also battery locked in (which might actually be comforting having less options), and last but not least..the camera...I know it's "decent" but I don't think it holds as much detail as the rez cam (I'm a photographer so I can be a little more picky than most people). Oh and re setting up 400+ apps won't be too fun. Maybe I'll tough it out till a updated version comes out? What do you think? I am kind of sick of having a warm brick in my pocket all the time. Thanks for all your contributions!

The One is a great phone to have. In your case though, you need more storage. 32 GB is more than enough for me and anything else I keep on a flash drive (One supports USB OTG). The camera is not as high-res as the Rezound but it is WAY better in low-light and captures more color.
The battery is great. But if you need more than 32 GB then you might have to pass.
Yeah, I've been on the fence about it for a while now. I think by the time I decide to do something there will be leaks of a better alternative. It's not the external memory (micro sd) I'm worried about so much. I think the rez has a little more than 2gb set aside for apps and that's where I'm starting to struggle.. there's also the screen on time I'm nervous about, I get almost 4 with my extended, I've heard it's around 6 with the One. They should just let us design their phones and fix their marketing campaign. Thank you for your input though. I'm still not in htc elevate either (hint hint). I hope everyone's doing well and putting their phones to good use.

Hello Morpheus! I too, used to be a rezound owner who switched to the HTC One.
And by God does the HTC one fly. You absolutely cannot compare the One to the rezound in ANY manner. I can play Asphalt 8 on the highest setting with zero lag, while on the rezound I will lag at least a few times per game on the lowest setting.
Camera in lowlight is stellar. Once again no comparison. I have actually managed to capture pictures of clouds at midnight, although the iso is noisy at night, it's still visible. (since your a photographer, shutter speed drops to 1/7, iso 2000, aperture 2.0)
Battery: comparing my stock rezound battery to the stock One battery, it's better on the one. I get a little over 3 hours of screen on time on the one Co pared to just barely or under 2 hours on the rezound. I rarely toggle 4g though now. The battery life feels as if it lasts 3 times longer though.

I'll take this time to hijack this thread. I've been sitting on my phone upgrade for quite some time now deciding between the GS4, One, then the G2 and then the Note 3. After the One got S-OFF yesterday, I immediately jumped on it and used an alternate upgrade to keep my unlimited data. Very happy with my purchase so far coming from a Rezound. Already flashed flyhalf's CM10 for the One and it's running smoothly (except I can't get a GPS lock for some reason ).
Thanks to all the hard work of all the developers for the Rezound making this phone a great experience.
