[Q] Help with hard reset - Android Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hello: I have this problem with the Kyocera echo M9300 i found this post
**alternate hard reset**
!!!MAKE SURE YOUR ADB IS SET-UP FIRST !!!!
PS - make sure all drivers of the kyocera echo are installed first!!!!
here you go: w w w. echo by kyocera . com / support / downloads /
after all that is done...phone off, hold volume up and power..the kyocera screen will come up, after it does let go of the buttons and PLUG YOUR USB IN COMPUTER AND PHONE, windows will automatically install the drivers and ready to go. open command prompt and search for your adb>tools folder and run <fastboot devices> to make sure the phone is connected...after run <fastboot -w> and this will erase all user data and cache...the <fastboot reboot> and their you go... HARD RESET!!!.
But there is someting i cant get it. <fastboot -w> i do everything i download and install all the drivers from the kyocera web site but when i go to the command promt and type <fastboot -w> it says <Fastboot> not recognized as an internal or external command, program or batch. can some one please tell me how to do a factory reset. for some reason the down and power doesnt work... the other question is where is located the adb>tools folder cuz the only folder i see is in C:\Program Files\Kyocera\KYOCERA USB Modem SY11 there is no more folder i make a file search and nothing cames out. Tanks in advance

Thanks for this post... I was looking for the drivers, lol!
If you don't have ADB setup like the post starting off...this won't work. I installed the Android SDK, it created a folder...and in that folder there's a "Tools" folder...this is where you might want to try from the command prompt... find that folder, press Shift, then right click in the folder somewhere...then open command prompt there... then run that fastboot -w command... and voila!

[Q] Total n00b to Android. I need help.

Hi all. I hope I'm posting in the right place. I tried to post on the original thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=935312, but I don't have access as I am a new member. Currently, I'm stuck. I've run SuperOneClick, but it has stopped at "Waiting for Device." I know. I just started. What have I done wrong that it's already failing? I have downloaded all the up-to-date necessary files, but I can't do anything with them because I can't get anywhere. Does the program need to be on the SD card in the phone? WHAT AM I DOING WRONG?!?! The instructions seem so simple! /about_to_RAGE_QUIT
EDIT::
Apparently my phone didn't take the debugging mode the first time. I'm now stuck on step 5. When you guys are talking about "Navigating" to the folder adb exists in, do I use PATH? If I type in the entire address of the file all the way through adb.exe, I can't type in the next line. What am I doing wrong? /n00b
Make sure you have debugging turned on. Go to menu, settings, applications, development and check usb debugging. In the same screen check for the phone to stay awake. I hope this helps you.

to navigate to the folder, open cmd, and type the following:
cd (directory of the location)
for example:
if i wanted to navigate to my downloads folder on my computer, i would type this:
cd C:\Documents and Settings\user\My Documents\Downloads

[Q] Please help me use the command prompt with SDK. . . .

I don't know how to use the cmd prompt. I've looked at the other posts on this forum and on other sites but their solutions don't seem to work for me. If I copy and paste this C:\Program Files\Android\android-sdk\SDK Manager.exe I get a reply saying it is not recognised as an internal or external command, operable program or batch file. Now if I copy and paste this "C:\Program Files\Android\android-sdk\SDK Manager.exe" it opens up SDK manager but I'm unable to input anymore text into the cmd prompt window.
I can't get my system to recognise adb devices but I have installed all the drivers for my Nexus One and I can identify my N1 through windows. I've also installed Eclipse.
I'm wanting to install another ROM on my handset( unlocked ) but if I can't get my device recognised via the cmd how can I do that? ?
I'm sure that I'm doing something wrong but I can't figure out what! Can you please advise me?
I'm still trying to figure it out but getting nowhere fast! ?
EUREKA!
At last it works, or, At last I can do it!
My device now shows up when I use cmd fastboot devices. I reinstalled the sdk direclty to C:\ . . . . don't why that would make any difference.

Stuck In CWM Recovery Loop...

Installed latest version of CWM..made backup of original rom...Rebooted System...No problem...Flashed CM9 per instructions...Full Wipe...Played with it for awhile...Backed it up...tried to restore Stock Rom ...went into CWM loop...Read a lot of threads and I still have drivers and Asus is seen in Device Manager with ADB Interface...So I tried Command prompts for 1a...and what I get is 'adb' is not recognized as an internal or external command, operable program or batch file...
Am I typin the command right ???...I never used ADB before...Came over from Epic Touch 4g Forum here...and I only used Odin...Could someone give me a clue if on on the right path of Unbrickin this thing...
Thanx...
BTW its Unlocked and of course rooted...
Your salvation is at hand:
http://dottech.org/tipsntricks/2153...ows-computer-for-use-with-your-android-phone/
Follow this guide. To the letter, very important you set the path correctly in the environment variables or you'll be going around in circles. Once it's done, you'll have a working ADB and fastboot environment, you will also want the "Universal naked USB driver" which can be found on this site.
Once you've got that up and running, try getting your system into fastboot protocol and type fastboot -i 0x0b05 reboot, if that works, then you've access to ADB and fastboot protocols, follow the commands given in solution 1a then to complete your recovery.
Hope this helps.

Extract it if you haven't already.... put your prime into recovery .... plug it into the pc... in device manager find the prime and update the driver manually... point windows to the driver and your there...
For adb... you need to download that too I use the one in the nvfashpack... so... you extract the file.. with the window open... press and hold shift then right click in the window (nvflashpack folder, where the adb.exe file is) and select open command prompt here. Now you can use the adb commands... if your trying to push a file...it is best to put it in the same folder (nvflashpack)

ADB is included in the Android SDK, so you need install it first. You'll need to modify some environment variables for convenience, and there are many websites where explain how to install Android SDK (after install it, you'll need to download the platform-tools package, any other isn't needed for your purposes), search them

[Q] Spent the last 3 hours trying to unlock bootloader... Please help

I followed the directions here
http://www.htcdev.com/bootloader
on 2 different computer. Installed the 3 links
Google Android SDK zip:
Java Runtime Environment:
HTC Sync (Windows Only):
Made sure fast boot off.
Tried with/without USB debugging on (even tho there is no directions for that)
Typed in Command Prompt: fastboot oem get_identifier_token.
I get same message "fastboot is not recognized as an internal or external command, program or batch file"
Tried to do the rumrunner thing as well but it says i need to get past bootloader 1st.
arrrggg
What do I do I have tried googling with no help.
All my phones in the past i could find rather easy "how to" instructions but not this phone.
crap
Put your device to fastboot mode ( switch off the device volume down and power together)
Else
Usb debugging on and type the command in cmd (adb reboot bootloader)

You aren't running the cmd from th correct folder. Browse to the folder where fastboot is. Hold shift key and right click. Select open cmd prompt here. Then run your commands.
