I'm not talking about system apps my friend, thanks

First and foremost WRONG SECTION.... U think asking question in Original android development section is rite??
BTW stock apps means system apps only... The apps u install from outside is third party apps... U asking abt the apps u installed before or installed after flashing?? Before means obvi it ll be in SD card.. After means it be ll in ROM...

I'm talking about this

that does nothing.
that screen only comes up, when you flashed a stock ICS 4.0.3 rom without wipe. it does not actually install apps, it just scans app folders like /system/app/ and /data/app for already installed apps to integrate in the launcher. maybe it also checks compatibility with android 4. but at the moment that screen shows up, all apps are already installed.
it is just a marketing thingy to pretend to perform app migration after upgrading the OS. if you upgrade through kies and had auto-restart checked and were unable to get to recovery to perform a factory reset prior to the first boot, you will see that screen appear after the first boot "installing" all your apps. then if you reboot into recovery, factory reset the phone and reboot, you will see it only "installs" the few stock apps and all user apps are gone.
this migration, together with not wiping your phone when flashing, will make it slow and unstable over time. it is the same thing with a windows pc. of course one could upgrade the OS, say, from vista to 7, and installed programs and settings might get migrated but in the end, everybody who knows, what they are doing, will still format c: prior to installing a new OS and install the programs afterwards for them to run perfectly.
and all stock apps, that survive a factory reset, wipe are in fact system apps in /system/app
they can still disappear when flashing a new rom.
your best bet is to backup all your apps with titanium backup pro and after flashing a rom or performing a factory reset, you select batch and restore all user apps + data. that way, you can simply install 100+ apps with a few clicks, and their respective settings (scores, customizations...) will be restored as well, which would not be the case with the way you suggested.
so, not only is your way not practical, it is also next to impossible. and it would make no sense, crumming all user apps in the 512MB system partition and leaving the 2GB data partition empty.

thanks for replying
sure I'll not put my all apps in the system/app. I made a rom and put my apps in the data/app and after flashing I got all of my applications installed and working too except some of google apps like google+ and drive. I think that screen shows us it's installing the apps not just scanning, because I searched the rom for these apps I didn't find it, so I think it's packed somewhere and I hope to find it

[Q] How to properly use Titanum Backup

Ok, I have finally convinced my wife to let me play with her vibrant. I plan on rooting it tonight but before I put the new ROM on her phone she wants me to try to backup her apps. She does not want to lose all of her data for her current apps. Stock 2.2 is always freezing or messing up on her and she is getting really annoyed!
My question is this, in order for me to move everything over (app and data) is there a step by step guide for Titanium Backup so I can do this properly?
(When I did it to my phone, I screwed up and lost everything on my vibrant and I don't want to do this again.)
I know with MIUI it has a backup feature which is awesome and this is more than likely what I will put on her phone.
Please help!
Thanks in advance
It is pretty simple really. In Titanium just hit batch and backup all apps plus data. You can also choose to save the backup on external micro sdcard just in case.
When I did that last time it wouldn't put everything back I guess I don't understand the process
Sent from my T959 using xda premium
What exactly did it not restore? Hit menu and batch and you can see what apps you are going to back up. Similarly when you are restoring you can see the list and it also gives you option to restore the app + data or just the apps. Just make sure after making a backup that you have backed up every app that you wanted.
It shows you everything in batch menu screen.
Sent from samsung vibrant
Only one other suggestion I have is do not back up system apps. Restoring system apps + data doesn't work nicely with one ROM to another. Just use backup user apps menu.
Sent from samsung vibrant
That's just it, she don't want to lose the data, that's my problem
Sent from my T959 using xda premium
Data of system apps?
Sent from samsung vibrant
Data from apps downloaded from the market

When you do backups, the data is also included.
When you restore apps later, choose data+app.

If you are going to MIUI, use Titanium Backup sparingly. Do not restore any system (red) apps and do not restore apps offered in the ROM. When I first went to MIUI, I restored my apps one at a time rather than use restore all apps. I didn't have an issue nor did I lose any data. Also, do a nandroid backup and I would backup all the files on the phone to your computer. This way you can move the apps to the system/app folder if things go south. I hope she enjoys MIUI, I do.
How do I move the files to the computer?? What folder is it located in? Do i need to download root explorer for this...I have to completely redo her entire phone and I plan on wiping everything and starting from scratch, I believe somehow someway something was messed up and Miui did not install properly. I want to start her over from scratch like a brand new vibrant off the showroom floor.
Hook your phone up to your PC and pull off the folder called TitaniumBackup and put it on you desktop. Once you "clean" your phone, you can put all that back on your SDcard. Pretty easy really.
titanium backup has a dropbox option now which backs everything up to your dropbox.
and unless she's using google voice, she's going to lost her text messages. similarly with call history. contacts and wifi stuff should be backed up with the google account. so, like the picture posted above, just 'backup all user apps' then after flashing the new rom 'restore all apps with data'.
Backup and restore problem Titanum Backup 8.4.0.2 PRO / Galaxy S9 Plus
Hi
I have used TB 2-3 yrs ago and it wask ok..not many problems.
No I have a problem with all backup jobs I make..all of them not are marked with these smilies but ? ( I guess smilies means OK and no error backup and "?" means some error/missing in backup
And; when I restore a OLD backup With smilies, after the restore the smilies is away/missing and this "?" have apper instead of the smilies, so it seems that TB destroy the old OK backup after it is restored.
Can this error be a fail in options? Something I have to set in options for get it to work?
Hope for answerd ( and hope this quest is posted in correct group. If not, pls tell me

this is getting annoying, just flashed lpD from scratch and yet again its happening again, what the hell is downloading here
Use other network monitoring apps like 3g watchdog and check the showing informations is correct.
also you can check with your Network provider, whether this truely happens or not.
Are you allowing google to sync your account? It may be downloading all your apps in the background (Or updating them)
I never tick any of the options after flashing/when setting the phone up...no background downloads

err...why?
Sounds like your Play store updating your apps in the background. Put data or wifi on and open play store, press menu key and go to 'my apps'. If they're downloading click on the 'x' on the top right of the screen to 'stop all'.
You can also check settings --> Data Usage to see whats eating your data, its a feature of ICS
by the way how many apps u got????
what does the built in data usage app reports?? if the problem persists still after a full wipe then it may be (may be) a malware. so if you are sure its not because of sync or some other app then you can try formatting data, system along with your internal sd and external sd from cwm before flashing a new rom.
i agree with everyoen above. it might be google just syncing information
Ok here what happens, when ever I flash a new stock ROM after wipe, right after I log in using google, it start happening.
No its not my apps
As you can see its not play store either.
I checked it multiple times now.
Exact 90MB got downloaded every time.

Ok I'm trying it again, will full wipe, remove sdcard, flash using Odin, lets see what happens
No nothing changed, removed sdcard, full wiped, flash new lpd using Odin.
Right after I sign in though I have UN tick the auto restore option, it started and right nite its at 40 mb, it will stop at 90mb.
I'm assuming something got backup to google and now every time I sign in, it comes back like the contacts.
Is there any way I know what and where its storing the filles.
Does any one know a way to wipe google account from their servers, like the screen shot.
This is wiping some stuff not all, as after signing in, I don't get my last apps or stored passwords anymore but that 90mb still comes.

[Q] How do you recover stock/original applications prior on flashing cw9

Please bare with me since I am still learning about android and so my question is, how can I recover my applications from my tablet after I have rooted it. since the stock/original applications takes up 8 gigs of space of my internal memory. I just cannot seem to access/delete those 8 gigs??
I flashed cyanogen 9 to my SGT2.10.1 and it was successful, although I am stuck on trying to recover my applications from the partition internal memory. Of course I have done a variety of steps to recover them and some of the steps I took are:
1. I tried using the spk tool - I really do not know how to use it and I am having a hard time figuring it out
2. Trying to delete and reformat the internal memory - was not successful since it only erased of what I currently had on the rooted and partitioned memory, thus my original/stock application are still within the internal memory.
3. I tried using applications such PC36IMG-AmonRA-3.07-gnm.zip - I changed the name to PC36IMG but flashing it lead to installation fail/aborted
4. I tried recovering them with titanium back up - but the application couldn't see my original/stock applications
5. Also tried using Astro File manager - Same results as TBU
6. Deleting the files from my pc via usb- it does not give me an option to reformat it
Any suggestions? this is the final step that I need to complete to finally enjoy my retarded galaxy tab 2
U can't run system apps from stock ROM on a custom rom . some of them probably can . Titanium backup backs up only user apps like games and stuff unless u say it to do it specifically .
So if u could get the apk of the app u are looking for , try moving it to system/app with permissions rw-r--r-- . Reboot .
If it works , buy me a beer . Or else , well do nothing. !

Everyone keep mentioning "move it to system/app" I really wish I could but I have looked through the folder many times and the 8gig of apps are not showing up. They must be hidden in another folder or partitioned. Another thing I want to add to that statement is I do not even know how to do it? I apologize if I am sounding like a total nub but what is permissions rw-r-r? I do not understand. Please guide me through because I cannot fully enjoy the quality of my device if 8 out 13 gigs is being used up with me having any access and ability to delete them. Pretty please
I also use titanuim back up, and the apps are not showing as well since prior to flashing the rom I never backed it up. I would not just buy u a beer if you could help me out on this but ill buy a KEG! from ebay, amazon, name ur online beer catalogue websites DDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDD

Go to data/app. That's where the other apps are stored. And system apps don't occupy 8Gb of space! I believe the /system partition is given only 500 mb of space.!
It must be something else that's taking so much space. If you made Nandroid backups, it will be around 2GB each. Or if you have too many files.
And about the permissions, if you put an app in /system, you will have to set right permissions.
To get an idea of it, just go to system/app and just long press on any app, hit permissions, you should see the permissions like the one in pic.
And you will have to reboot for the changes to apply.

[Lenovo S650] Help with adware!

I am having this problem with my phone: Lenovo S650
The virus shows different ads. (Screenshots are given in the bottom)
It also used to install different apps again and again even after uninstalling them,
but then I searched apk files and found 10 apks. I deleted them and then it start showing only ads.
But before I used to have only one ad and now I am having multiple different type of adds and the virus install an app "DeadlyRote". I didn't found its apk...
I think it is attached with ROM because I did the Factory Reset with removing sd card and deleting extra files manually. But it was no use.
What should I do? should I root it and change the ROM? If yes then tell me how...

First of all, those antivirus apps are useless, don't waste your time on them.... Second, seeing your problem I suggest you to do a full wipe, and then flash stock firmware and root and right after rooting uninstall the malware apps, after that monitor your every step and notice everything that you do to not to run into this again..... And to get read of ads use adaway/minminguard(needs xposed framework)

Can't stop phone from contacting google

Hello everyone,
I'm using several non-root samsung devices (S8, S9, S10, S20) and I've been removing everything google related. On purpose, I've removed many features/services (NFS, GPS, etc) and I only want them to act as normal phones. I also test them to see how they behave when connected to a wifi, to see if they try to connect to a remote system. Based on my limited testing, the phones use amazon AWS to get version information for samsung updates.
Unfortunately, the S10 and S20 also constantly connect to google at
172.217.169.164:443
216.58.206.163:80
But I can't figure out which packages are to blame. So far, I've uninstalled everything related to google (framework, play store, services, apps, etc). Anyone knows how to figure out which apps are trying to communicate to google?
Thank you.
PS:
here is my blacklist, in case anyone wants to take a look:
https://gitlab.com/samcleaner/samcleaner/-/blob/master/assets/blacklist.json
I have reason to believe that the package "com.sem.factoryapp" is the one constantly accessing 172.217.x.x.
Still not sure about the other IP address, but if pointed to by a browser it comes up with google.com search page.
Hi mate , in my case I installed netguard to block the Google stuff from accessing the internet,,,
I have a question since you published this script you may have some knowledge about adb :
Can we backup a non rooted phone's settings using ADB ?
I want to backup all my settings in the settings app, and the debloated apps as well, because it's a real hassle to go all over from the start if we reset the phone.

@Maybeyou using recovery mode, you can backup user data, it backup all your apps, 2FA apps, settings, etc.. even sd card encryption key in case it's encrypted or you use the extended internal memory option using sd card on android 6
it will generate several high size files on your sd card, and you'll be able to restore you data using the restore function
next time, open your own thread though.

Of course you can backup a phone by means of ADB: this has the advantage the backup gets stored on your PC's disk space - you define the location., whereas Android's stock recovery allows you to backup the phone only to a SDHC-card inserted what must have a storage capacity of >= phone's internal storage size.

Sorry bro for asking my question here in your thread, I still don't know how to backup settings and the debloated apps :
In the non rooted Samsung with android 9 stock recovery, there's "apply update from adb" options and it says " adb sideload" when selected , but I don't know what to do from adb on PC, and another option " apply update from sd card" . Is that what you referring to by using recovery? Can you show me how to proceed please
sorry again for asking here

Of course you can backup a phone by means of ADB: this has the advantage the backup gets stored on your PC's disk space - you define the location., whereas Android's stock recovery allows you to backup the phone only to a SDHC-card inserted what must have a storage capacity of >= phone's internal storage size.

@Maybeyou
Is it really so difficult to do a related Google search?
Anyways, look inside this to get guided.

Thank you very much sir, I did a duckduckgo search yesterday ? but didn't found anything useful
Anyway thank you , I'm gonna try to backup right now ?
Update after backing up my non rooted Samsung by using " Adb backup -apk all -shared .....".
I had to reset my phone so I tried " adb restore backup.adb " it didn't restored my debloated version of the firmware, it only restored the apps that I did install + medias like photos and videos .
Is there any solution for that deprecated command ?
