So I bought a TFP a few months ago. I encrypted it before flying between the USA and Canada. I have this CWM Touch recovery installed. My TFP is currently running stock Android. It looks like CWM can't mount the sd card nor can it mount /data, so I can't do a wipe. Without being able to access the sd card to install CM9 nor being able to do a wipe, I'm not sure what to do next. My end goal is to install CM9. Does anyone have any ideas or suggestions of what I should do next?
I got it. I'll write a blog article about it soon. It takes a lot of patience and a bit of adb and mounting magic along with a spare external sdcard.

Hey,
thank you for your solution, maybe I've got the same problem. Is there any way, to backup my device first? Because I'm still running stock Rom and want to prevent a brick
Thank You

Ok so I bought a new 8gb card today but it would not let me put anything on it. Started showing that mounting error that has been affecting the leaked froyo Roms. So after about 2 hours trying to get it to work I decided to install the Leaked Stock Froyo Rom instead. using Odin.bad move on my part because now after a new install. I'm getting the mounting error on my internal SD card now.wont let me transfer files or music over without that dam mounting error. Tried everything.problem is I can't get the mountingfix to flash now using Rom Manager. Wont work.think its because its for e2 recovery and I'm now using e3 recovery. Someone please help me out.I'm about to loose my mind. I'm stressed to the breaking point. I lost my dad on Tuesday night from cancer. I'm trying to take my mind off it by using my phone for music and videos.so please help me out.thanks a million friends!

I am trying to flash the mountingfix.zip file by putting it onto my internal sd. Upon reboot into Android system recovery 3e, and choosing "reinstall packages."
I get the following problem:
E:failed to open /mnt/internal_sd/update.zip (No such file or directory)
E:signature verification failed
Installation aborted.
Any fix for this issue please!

You can try pushing the file with adb and be sure of the directory, also it's case sensitive. And have you full formatted the sdcard to fat32?
I'm sorry, I know how it feels to lose someone close to you.

Just tried reformatting it through system recovering and also the SD card setting.didn't do fat32. And why do almost all the froyo Rom's have that mounting error. Even the T-Mobile froyo Rom has that issue. And yea i was close to my dad.

How would I reformat the internal SD card with fat32? That's the one I'm having issues with.the external SD card started work.so now i just need the internal one to work!

Can't you fastboot flash the e2 recovery and try again? Or try another sdcard to see if the card is the problem or not. I know you're probably not that a rookie with this stuff but sometimes you can forget some simple solutions.

I need to get back to e2 recovery or make the internal SD card work. Any ideas. Shh driving me nuts

Any ideas please. I don't care about flashing or using other Roms. I just want this dam froyo rom to work correctly. Can't use the internal SD card to save music or anything else to it. So please help me out!

What kernel are you running? I had that same error when I ran eugene super kernel. Try a diff kernel. Also can you copy it.to your external then move it to your internal thru your phone. I had to do it that way on axura 2.1. Im sorry for loss bro. Ill keep you in my prayers.

First of all, I am very sorry for your loss.
I think that the problem may not be your sd. I think it's a problem with Clockwork. Check out this thread and see if it helps.
HOLY SH-T
this just happened to me too haha!
I was trying to get into ClockWork, by clicking reinstall packages, it said the same error as yours because i deleted the update.zip which you probably did...
Here's what i did to fix, on ROM Manager, i clicked INSTALL CLOCKWORK RECOVERY
and the update.zip appeared on my SD and it started working again.
Sorry about your dad.
Is this going to fix my internal SD card issue? How do I fix this issue without using the mountingfix.zip? I'm now using e3 recovery not e2 so wont let me install any update.zip file. Using Rom manager. Can't get clockwork recovery to work with my Stock Leaked Froyo Rom. So how do i fix this issue. Not looking to flash a new Rom just want my internal memory card to work right! Thanks a million

Maybe this thread can help?
my tab 10.1 suddenly malfunction, i took it to samsung to repair. They said battery is dead, so they change the battery, also make a factory reset to my tab. i have some data(pic and video)need to recover. i know it is ext4 base. Is there a way to mount the internal storage on linux / make a full partition image backup so that i can use some recovery software to rescue my data?
sorry for my english, i'm just frustrated with this situration
thanks in advance.
Sadly, I've seen this issue often lately and have yet to see anyone post a successfully executed solution.
Hopefully yours will be the one that has a solution.

So I bought a prime today off of Craigslist. It was working fine and everything and I decide to restore it to delete the info on it. I restored it with the settings option and now it just stays on the splash screen. I looked and tried about everything and can't find anything. I saw other threads about this bit could not find anything. What should I do know guys?

I would try to install clockworkmod recovery, this was one of the steps I took to get a rom on my device as it had .21 ICS already on it.
I too bought my prime on craigslist, so far no issues

Ok, have you tried wiping everything, even backup your sdcard, then format it, and try to install from it again.

Yes I've tried but nothing

The thing is it only stays on the splash screen and when I insert the SD card it doesn't read it. I reboot to CWM and it doesn't read the SD
Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using xda premium
Do you have another sdcard?
You said you formatted the sd, make sure the card is in when you reboot....
Hmmm second thought
Have you tried to flash the TOUCH version of CWM?
I'm using that to erase, and flash my roms, but i think there is no sd support so i put the rom in a folder on the internal drive
Sent from my Transformer Prime TF201 using Tapatalk 2
Yeah I'll try it with a different SD and we'll see what happens. I'd have to do it tomorrow cause I'm at work now. But hopefully I get it fixed

Cmw doesn't read the external SD card slot afaik.. cuz the primes partitions are laid out weird so it thinks the internal memory is the "SD card".. try Diamondbacks unbrick methods or the masterzen unbricker from the development thread best of luck to ya

Just push the ROM to the internal storage. "adb push rom.zip /sdcard" replace the rom.zip with the full path to and filename of your ROM.

when You connect to your PC, can you see the prime, and access the system?
If you can then you need to put the .zip onto the Primes internal storage,
then choose it when flashing.....
I believe I stated this originally, Its how I flashed Virtulous.

Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using xda premium
you need to get prime into recovery mode, and install drivers on your PC that will recognize it. The only way your gonna have any luck is if you can get your pc to see the file system on the prime. Focus on finding this solution..
You have tried the unbricking solutions?
Sometimes you might not have to follow them to a "T"
What operating system are you on?

Hi all, Noob, but learning quickly. I am rooted and unlocked using AdamOutlers Causal method. Updated to vrall4, both the build and baseband.
I have flashed a couple of nice mods using twrp and found it very easy. I would now like to backup my system as I pretty much have my phone like I want it. I went to twrp, hit Backup and got a Failed message because it says: E:Unable to locate sd-ext partition. I formated the sd card a few days ago so its empty. It is also the card that came with my Thunderbolt, which I had before the note2. I figured it would be a good idea to format it for the new phone after backing everything up to my laptop hard drive.
I searched the forum trying to find partition information and found quite a few threads, unfortunatley alot of it is over my head. I did find a thread that mentioned using the twrp advanced section to partition the card. When I go to that section I can't find a place that gives me a partition option. Im sure its in there but I cant find it. Can someone give a clue on how to do this. Thanks GA
Have you tried backing up onto the internal storage? Maube try putting a file on the sd card first.

Thanks for the reply. I tried that also. Still says it cant find the partition. I think I need to partition the card. Just can't figure out how to do it.

Update. ..... did a bunch of reading on the twrp threads and tried a suggestion I read there. Went to the mount tab and selected "mount the sd card". I presume that was the problem because after that I was able to do a twrp backup. All is good.

Glad you got things figured out. Sometimes it is the simplest of things (which are often the hardest to find) that resolve issues. Thanks for reporting back.
I guess that would be true in that you cannot write data to the sd card if it is not mounted.
Have a great day!

Stat

Try looking for a folder called "LOST.DIR" this folder is like the "recycle bin" on windows systems and sometimes gets full of data that didn't get deleted properly.

I'm unsure as to why that's the default behavior then and if its not lost.dir filling up with junk; then it could be a bad partition table on the SD or the similar info that's stored in some of the system directories may have some malformed information (loops and soft or hard links) that are preventing you from writing to "sectors" (there's other names for the physical bits that store the data bits that might be used for SD's though its a similar concept) if one of these is causing the issue with space not being available then a "re-flashing" of the system folders (flash your ROM and kernel if you don't know how to manually do this) and reformatting the card; first in a PC (choose the "Full" and slow way Not "Quick") and reformat the SD card again with the now re-flashed device... Warning though: backup everything on your device to a *different* SD card "nandroid" backup style and then backup everything that's on both SD cards to a computer first. This is because if it's a hardware issue with the space, then that card can't be trusted with your backups, and the formatting that I suggest will wipe both so it would be better to back it up before wiping
And on the subject as to why your device might be installing everything to your SD by default that (I don't think has been suggested yet... correct me if I'm wrong ) try taking a look though your "build prop" there may be a "one liner" in there somewhere that sets this behavior, kinda like "svc wifi preferred" caused me issues when that was set and I'm not big on WiFi so it caused all sorts of strangeness with my data.
So yeah it's been a few days; I've been working elsewhere on XDA, but, at least I came back for a minuet hope ya get it all sorted so life can go on to more fun activities.
