Ya, I think he's getting slow in his old age. Lol Good to see so many familiar names. Really happy with the Mopho. Running Alien rom. Running sweet so far.
Loved my Epic, But... My MoPho is amazing... Not to mention, I was getting harassed by my co-workers about my Samsung, due to the fact I work for Motorola Solutions...
been rockin' my MoPho for a couple days now.. battery life is STELLAR.. the screen is too bright sometimes.. not bright enough others..
it's stupid fast compared to the epic on EXT4.. but.. (to be fair) once the GS2 comes out, I might toss the Photon .. depends on how well i like the GS2.. lol

I'm really loving my Photon, and I really didn't have many complaints about my Epic. I really didn't use the keyboard at all. My battery life is far superior top the Epic, which I attribute to its stronger radio. I work on the service floor of a hospital and my Epic was constantly searching for signal in certain areas where I now maintain a solid signal throughout the day. My only complaint its that I daily experience the "silent call" issue. I read that removing the SIM card helps some folks, so I'm trying that.

I didn't come from an Epic but I did remove that sim card. Since then, haven't had NOT one issue.
I also upgraded from the Epic to the Photon, and I think the Photon is way better than the Epic..and faster. My Epic was getting laggy, and over heating whenever I was charging it. So far I am really enjoying the Photon.
Well to be honest with you I have become bored with the Photon and might go back to my Epic. The things I miss the most with my Epic is having to always keep a spare battery in my pocket, waiting for the phone to figure out where I am so I can check into Foursquare, the time spent searching and waiting for Gingerbread, and waiting for the camera to respond among other things. Without all of this, my life with my Photon seems so boring and I'm having trouble finding what to do with the extra time. It's been very hard to adjust to not having those features like I did on the Epic.

ZING!
TBH I dont have that many issues on my Epic while on a stock-like ROM. Still waiting for official GB like everyone else though...
My mother needs a new phone so I am sending her my Epic while I upgrade...
One of the issues I have not yet seen info on (I'm still searching) is whether or not Motorola has decided to start following the microUSB standards yet or am I going to have to double up on 5 USB chargers that I keep anywhere I might need to use my phone...
Other than that most of the issues I have seen are pretty much software related and the phone looks great. I think I'm still going to go ahead with the Photon rather than the Evo3d.
Yes it has a micro port.

Every phone will have a micro usb. Its been standardized now. No phone that comes out will use a different charger. This was passed awhile ago to cut down on the amount of charging cables and such in landfills among other reasons
Sent from my MB855 using XDA App
Aye, i know they have been standardizing them, but I know Moto was still being different. After talking it over with my Sprint guy today as I was ordering my phone.. I came to the conclusion that this was likely only an issue with the MINI-usb plugs. There were specific warnings on the websites I use to order my parts against mixing Moto and any other usb cables. As I understand it they had a couple wires reversed in those, and it seems they are getting with the program now and standardizing with the rest of the world.
In 2 days I will officially be a former Epic owner..
It would be today but they didnt know how to put the phone on my bill and have me walk out with one like they did with my Epic.
I had an Epic for a bit, but ended up going back to the Evo. I had better luck out of the Vibrant than the Epic. Photon is light years better though lol.

Can you root a stock Samsung phone now without having to deal with that "Rage against the Cage" nonsense? Tried it once on my wife's Facinate and my anti-virus program wouldn't let Rage run, even when I disabled it. (I know there are ROM's with pre-rooted Kernels you can flash. Just flashed rooted GB 2.3.5 kernel to my Galaxy Tab.)

But all that aside, I checked out the razr today & plan on comparing it to the Rezound next week. My bottom line is reception & my x2 has never failed me where my wife's dinc hasn't been too impressive so htc might not be the best for me.

Rage in the cage new? Never had to use it. First root ever was a one click root i found somewhere. Then i used Odin to flash the stock froyo pre-root. I believe i seen a pre-root GB stock over there, too.
Sent from my DROID X2 using xda premium
I believe "Rage against the Cage" is the exploit scheme that they used on the Samsung one-click boot process. It's been about 6 months since I've tried to root the Facinate, so my memory is sketcy. The upside is that, as you mentioned, there are probably a lot of pre-rooted ROM offerings that can be easily flashed with Heimdall (or Odin, if yer into that).
I agree Sammy makes a good phone. Wife loves her Facinate. Sadly, the Galaxy II never made it to Verizon, but now lots of folks are waiting for the Nexus, which should be out around the end of the month. But I also like the Moto Droid line, now that we've been given some developer attention. The hardware is top notch, and my X2 is running VERY snappy and stable on Moto-Ginger-Funk v7a. I have no reason to want to trade up for a long while yet (unless Google cannot get a handle on their funky Market issue).
Droid Razr looks very sharp (sorry for the pun). I'm a little afraid of the non-removeable battery, though. There are loads of times that I have recoved my X2 from brink of "brickhood" just by pulling the battery and booting into recovery.
I'm not too crazy about the Razr's non-detachable battery. All too often taking the battery out and putting it back in seems to solve a problem, without having that ability on the Razr I'm somewhat concerned.
Odin=Heimdall but for diff operating systems, i believe. When my contract is up, I'm looking into sprint if vzw isn't allowed to launch the SGSII. And no, i have no intentions of turning this thread into a "who it's better sprint or vzw". Carry on w/ upgrade discussion...

I'm pretty sure that the razr has a failsafe two buttons u.press to kill battery connection or something similar
.like a "hard kill" switch.
I am upgrading to the ReZound Monday. There are more reasons not to get the Razr, than there are to get it lol. If you are in an X2 now, you are better off either keeping it and riding out your time, or getting the ReZound/Nexus, at least right now.

What led you to the Rezound? Beats audio or the the display?
Sent from my DROID X2 using xda premium
Well, the headphones alone carry a very hefty price, so getting them "free" for the same price as the other phones is a good incentive(probably why they aren't advertising the phone). I already have the SkullCandy Titan Earbuds, so I really don't NEED the Beats Audio ones. But, the camera's on it are both better. The screen resolution is on par with the nexus on a DX2 size screen. Removable battery, SD storage, unlockable BL, 1.5GHz processor.. Basically, the only "feature" it doesn't carry is the super slim design, and who gives a **** if the phone is lacking in so many other categories? lol.
My moms Stock Inc2 walked all over my X2 with Eclipse before I even put CM7 on it for her! HTC is doing all the right things, even with Sense. Too many people complain about Samsung, and I lived in Korea for 2 years from 07-09, we are getting their leftovers over here(Thanks FCC/FTC, and assholes running patent wars..Apple).
Yeah Im gonna look into adding a line soon. Not sure if I'm going to resound or nexus yet
Rezound looks sick. As does nexus(ICS!) but I can see resound getting ics eventually.
ha. HTC edge I thought about until I saw it was Tegra. I will wait for reviews on that before even trying it lol. This phone has lowered my expectations for tegra devices lol

We did that actually, got the original DX the day they came out. Loved em. I moved from a bb curve and she from a Moto rokr. When the DX gb bugs hit we were offered DX2s and took them since we had the car docks etc. Didn't feel like switching 100 worth of accessories.
AtLemacks right, seems that the Razer with limitations or something without. Hardware is close enough on either one. Why move to another Moto and keep banging your head against the wall like we do daily.

Well, I've been an Evo 3D fag, but i've been having problems with it and I don't really like it. First one went completley dead, and this one has random reboots and gps is fried.
I brought my e3d to sprint last night and they gave me an option of the E3d or Photon.
I decided to try the Photon ( mistake or good choice)?
The E3d is very buggy and just isn't very good quality. I heard the Photon gets great reception and such. The 3D was garbage and bars would jump to 5 then instantly drop to 1 all the time.
Hopefully I made a good choice. Or did I?
Good choice to my evo3d back after 7 days for the photon

My son has the 3d. Great device, except that he doesn't get good reception. I love my Mopho. However don't expected as many roms here as the 3d. The ones we have are great though!

Hello,
I purchased an EVO 3D as part of the First to Buy promotion last June as a Premier Gold after having a wonderful experience with my EVO 4G.
All I can say is after literally 5 different 3D's, 2 weeks ago I finally demanded a different Android Handset and too was offered the Photon.
I truly cannot be happier and as I already had a 16gb SD Card, the amount of Storage I have is staggering. It has been hard to get used to the Home Button not being at the far left, but I have gotten used to it.
Cheers,
JJ
Thanks for the replies, i do like the storage on it. I know there isnt much going on for development, but i'm not too worried about it. It doesn't make that much of a difference with the phone its just fun and addicting.
The E3D is just so buggy, the roms and phone itself.
I just got my photon today coming from a galaxy s2 i didnt have los but at work its like a dead spot and with my epic touch 4g i would lose all bars but with my photon i get full bars plus 4g wtf.!!!! Photon ftw.!!!

Congrats on your choice. I just unlocked about 3-4 days ago and it was very easy. From what others have told me it is a very hard phone to brick. Reception is by far the best I have had on any phone. I think you will like it!
Welcome to the club. Most will tell you the photon doesn't need a rom. I'm one of those people. I'm satisfied just being rooted on stock. It's pretty much hits the nose in terms of what I want from a rom. Enjoy!

I think you've made a very good choice. I recently just got the Photon in the last week coming from an Evo 4G. This phone has the best reception of any I've owned. Battery life is also excellent. Over all I am very pleased.
Like nyckid stated, the stock ROM is very good. I have yet to see a compelling reason to flash an alternative. Unlike with my Evo where I was flashing a new ROM or kernel every other day, lol.

I suppose I'm just a fan of HTC phones, but I would stick to the Thunderbolt.
Your phone works perfectly and you know how to use it correctly. The Razr would be another whole thing to get used to and you take a chance on that phone having its issues.
I'm probably way out there on my concept, and I'd also hate to see you leave the Thunderbolt community. We've lost a lot of people already, and as active as you are here, it would be much lonely here.
Besides that, I just personally think the Thunderbolt is a better phone... but that's just my opinion of it.

I like my thunderbolt just fine I was just thinking of the moto razr as a slight upgrade. I'm mo stranger to Motorola all. My wife had the og droid and a droid 3 (both of which were huge piles of crap) and rooted them both. I'm just worried ill get that razr and it will be a huge steaming pile like my wife's droids. The displays in them after the og droid look like crap. You can actually see the digitizer on it which is annoying to me. Plus blur sucks really bad IMO. I think blur just looks terrible. Hardware wise the phone is better but I think the display and blur are enough for me to not want it.

I know this is a few days old, but another vote for keeping the Thunderbolt. I checked out the RAZR and RAZR MAXX in the store, and absolutely hated the display and overly large bezel, as well as the odd hard edges of the phone. While the Thunderbolt is older and has lower specs, I still prefer it. Heck, I missed it after using a GS3 for a couple days.
