Hi peeps,
I have a strange problem. I have my xperia S from a telecom store KPN. So it came with the KPN Generic .62.
Now, that i bootloader unlocked my phone and have a Nl generic .73 installed, PPC and SEUS came with an update for .75.
The strange thing is that i can't update via PPC and SEUS. It both came with an error saying that my phone contains updated software, so it can not be updated from .73 to .75.
Anyone have this stange thing?
You can't update with Sony's tools when you've unlocked the bootloader.
Aha thanks.. Well can i relock then??

you cannot update with bootloader unlocked, try relock it if you want update from PCC.
or try to find the ftf here and flash it directly from Flashtool.

Hello,
My phone is rooted and I was wondering if I could update my phone OTA when ICS is released? Will it de-root my phone or brick it? Cause I wanna try out the stock ICS ROM before installing a custom one? Plus if I need to un-root it, how can I do it? I used Doom_Lord's root method.
ICS, which will come out end of this month, might be able OTA, although I am not sure. OTA will ONLY brick your phone, if you HAVE unlocked bootloader. Every other case, no bricks for you.
Root will probably be lost, because it's another version of Android, which changes almost everything. If you have rooted phone, you don't have to deroot it for updates. I have seen a program in Development section, which can also Un-root.
Check this read carefully though.Until now you can always update your phone if you're rooted, if you do it OTA root stays.More likely we'll be able to update to ICS while rooted.
How about after installed locked bootloader CWM.
Can we upgrade to ICS through OTA?
CWM shouldn't affect ICS.
And yes, I think ICS will be able over OTA, although I am not sure.

THank you.
You mean I did't install the custom rom.
It's ok.
If I install the custom rom.
Then can't upgrade to ICS?
Is it correct?

Correct, if you have custom ROM, then you probably have to get back to stock first and lock bootloader.

My bootloader is unlocked and I have a custom ROM based on the Stock ROM .62. So If I do update, will it brick my phone?

It is always safer to lock bootloader and return to stock.

Locking bootloader is also done with Flashtool, if you used official method.
If done with S1Tool, you can use that program to relock bootloader.
Flashtool file attached.
To return to stock ROM, I like WotanServer. It's easy and quick, less messing than with Flashtool. For Flashtool you need to find correct files, WotanServer just wants to know, what ROM version you want and you will need a free account also. Everything else is done by WotanServer.

simply use s1tool to patch the bootloader even though you unlocked it
when you use s1tool your bootloader seems locked but you can install custom roms and update your phone using either Sony Ericsson PC Companion nether SEUS
Both Benefit
sorry for my bad english
Is there an official date for the ICS Update release yet? Everybody is saying is at the end of this month or early on April, but don't have an official date? BTW i have my live rooted, but I modified/deleted some system apps, is there a problem with that? Will I have to reflash my phone again to update via OTA or something? Thanks, and sorry for lot of questions

No official date yet. For LWW, it is planned end of April/begin May, some other phones like Arc S and Neo V get it earlier, why, I dont know. It was written so in official blog post.
As long as you have stock ROM, you won't have any problems with updating. Reflashing is not needed.
If you have unlocked bootloader, then doing OTA will brick your phone, just lock it before updating. If you haven't unlocked, then it's okay.

I just read on the Sony Developer site that the ICS update will not be available for those with an unlocked bootlader WTF ?
"Also, if you unlock the boot loader, you will not be able to download and install the final Ice Cream Sandwich software upgrade for Xperia™ phones."
Just look for the article "ICS beta ROM now available for unlocked Xperia™ PLAY smartphones" .. it's about 3/4 down the page :?(
Good thing I unlocked via Testpoint method...
I think it could be possible that SEUS or PC Companion are checking IMEI, if the phone was unlocked via Sony...
simple relock won't do it I guess :/
But don't worry, a few days after our devs will come up with a flashable generic and prerooted rom

That is because DRM keys are lost, which are needed to use PC Companion and Update Service to update phone firmware.
It is not sure, if relocking will do the deal or not, as least not before it is released.
Relocking with Flashtool will definitely work & also if yhu unlock BL via Testpoint Method den yhu can update via SEUS, PCC!
Dude, didn't you read when unlocking bootloader? its written in big red fonts on bootloader unlock page that you will not get further updates after unlocking.
Officially, the bootloader can only be unlocked, that's why the warning with red letters.
Unofficially, it is possible to relock the bootloader and after that it's possible to update software again. I tested it multiple times.
The only thing You loose permanently is the DRM. Cheers!

Hello,
So I messed around a bit with my phone, maybe a bit too much. Now I want it just stock, so I flashed a stock rom. Appears to be gingerbread. It doesn't really matter to be, however I would rather have ICS. I also wanted to relock the bootloader, so I flashed the ftf file, and it should relock it. But it doesn't work. So I thought it would be working on ICS. Then I flashed a stock ICS rom, but it didn't work. It only showed the Sony logo for 3-4 seconds, and just restarts the phone, in an endless loop.
Can anybody help me? I can't update via PC Companion because I still have an unlocked bootloader. Does anybody know some other ways to relock the bootloader?
Gr. Leon
flash the ics ftf..then relock the bootloader using relock.ftf and then after flash world generic verison of gingerbird..everything will work fine

I recently rooted my Xperia P (JB 4.1.2, unlocked bootloader) using the ThP's JB_stock_autoroot.img available here.
Now when I tried to install the updates using PCC, it said that modified software installed and hence cancelled the update. Is it because of the unlocked bootloader or rooting the phone?
Cheers,
Saurav

So now if i wish to relock the bootloader keeping my phone rooted, what steps do i need to follow? I have downloaded the file LT22i_relock_bootloader.ftf which can help me relock the bootloader. Anything else that I should keep in mind before/while/after flashing this file?
Cheers,

If i am not wrong you must be on full stock (kernel and rom) and you relock. You can search around as i have not relocked my bl before as i never unlocked it.
I am back. Ignore forum signature 1st line.
You can create the FTF from PCC files
http://mytechencounters.wordpress.c...eate-an-ftf-file-of-your-xperia-ics-firmware/
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2188129
I have flashed the relock file more than once without any problem.
You can root JB .100 with DooMLoRD Easy Rooting Toolkit
