I tried to flash a new kernel from Flashtool.
First time i did that i went perfect!
I wanted to try another ROM which needed another kernel, and now i'm not able to do anything!

Can anyone help? or do I have to buy a new cellphone
Sorry for my poor english!
What happened when you tried SEUS?
Sent from my U20i using xda premium
SEUS tells me that the cellphone has the newest software.
When I start the cellphone it never goes further than to the "Sony Ericsson" startscreen. When i try to enter CW recovery it gives me a strange looking screen with green colors. How can I restore CW recovery and how can I install a kernel again?
Try flash stock rom by Seus, you can do it even if SEUS show you that you already have the newest software, and than root, install recovery, instal GB rom and than flash kernel
And remember to unlock bootloader before flash kernel!
Which kernels and rom did u flashed?

I tried to flash [KERNEL] nAa-11 because that kernel is needed for some of the ROM'S that i wanted to try. But i never got further than trying to flash nAa-11 which did not succed. Before that i had [ROM]CyanoCream Sandwich http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1333234 installed.
I've just tried one more time to flash nAa-11 kernel. But i did not succed.
I got this error.

Ok, use my guide in my signature to flash stock again.

hi, i was flashing the same kernel onto my sisters x10 mini pro and when i went to flash i got the error before it allowed me to flash the kernel, i used PC companion to repair, located in the software update section once i did that, i just unlocked the bootloader and root. hope this helps you.
I have triede with pc companion, it will not let me update, and it is not possible for me to put the phone into USB debugging, because the phone do not startup. I realy hoped that someone other than me has had this error before. But when I google the error, it doesn't come up with much.

I guess there's nothing to do then. I hoped there was some one other than me who had experienced the same as I did. Can anyone tell me if there is other things to try before I throw it into the graveyard.

Hello, I just recovered a friend's phone from this problem. Nothing worked before but I found the solution, at least for me.
First I want to tell what I tried:
Flashing with PC Suite
Flashing with PC Companion
Flashing with FlashTool
Flashing with SETool Box 2
Nothing worked. Mainly because the dumbass of my friend tried to update latest version while it failed (don't know if battery problem, cable or whatever).
The problem is that it just hanged in "Sony Ericsson" screen and not recovery possible.
And when flashing I got:
ERROR - ERR_SEVERITY="MAJOR";ERR_CLASS="SECURITY_CLASS";ERR_DYNAMIC="SIN header verification failed"
=== Now how I solved it ===
What I did is download the u20i1.6 binary fron XDA developers. It said it's a zip but it's just a RAR.
I had to uncompress it in a folder. And create a bundle with FlashTool with those files. I will try to upload this.
Then I flashed it. It worked without the error.
-------------------
- At the time of writing this. I upgraded the phone with the PC Companion but
- after updating the phone just got hanged again. It just flash red light when
- swithing on. I don't know why. Have to see.
- Update: Was not hanged I just had to force off (long press on the power button) and then on. The PC Companion finished updating.
- Update: Flashed last version and now SETool Box2 is not able to unlock. Better to stay on 2.X.

IMPORTANT !!!!!!
ONCE ROOTED,
Download https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.keramidas.TitaniumBackup&hl=en and backup all your apps(on SD card)
Step 3(next step) of this post will reset(factory reset) your phone.
BACKUP ALL YOUR CONTACTS AND CALENDER ON GOOGLE
BACKUP ALL YOUR MESSAGES AND IMPORTANT STUFF !!
MAKE A BACKUP OF YOUR SD CARD ON PC FOR SAFETY (THIS WILL BE DONE AFTER ALL BACKUPS ARE DONE I.E. LAST BACKUP)
Step 3: UNLOCK BOOTLOADER
If you have no idea about this, read this
Why exactly is this a big deal? For the general population, this doesn’t matter. However, for the modding community, locked bootloaders are simply a pain. When the bootloader is locked, certain portions of the device are unable to be customized such as recoveries or kernels. A lot of the time, when rooting a device, the first step requires the bootloader to be unlocked or bypassed. So, depending on the device in question and the will of the developer, creative Android hacking has allowed some devices with locked bootloaders to run custom ROMs. Generally, these devices aren’t as stable as they could be if the device was able to be completely customized from the ground up.
1) http://unlockbootloader.sonymobile.com/ and follow the steps carefully ( skip step 13, we've already done that )
IF YOU GET STUCK ON STEP 14,DO THIS
to navigate to android SDK folder, use this command(without quotes)
"cd location_of_your_android_SDK\platform-tools"
for me, it was - "C:\androidSDK\platform-tools"
2)If you followed the rules, you will have an unlocked bootloader
3)Yipeeee !!!
4)Dont worry about your apps, they're still on your SD card
5)Restore only the apps which are very important and you cant live without them for a day..
Step 4: INSTALLING CWM(CLOCK WORK MOD / RECOVERY)
if you dont know what cwm is, just read but dont follow the steps to install it
http://www.addictivetips.com/mobile...-and-how-to-use-it-on-android-complete-guide/
1) http://www.mediafire.com/?73xv18tht0e8zt4 download cwm
2)Connect your phone in MSC (mass storage mode) mode and wait until SD card available to PC
3)increase your display time out to 2 minutes
4)Enable USB debugging and allow 3rd party/unknown sources
5)open the downloaded folder(extract first)
6)Run install-cwm1.cmd
7)sit back and enjoy!!!
8)once finished, you'll have cwm installed!!!!
9)to check if you have cwm, turn off phone
10)turn on and when sony logo appears, repeatedly press vol down button until you reach a blue colored menu, if successful, cwm is installed properly!! if not, please comment or reinstall it.
11)navigation in cwm-
go up-vol up
go down-vol down
select option-home button
previous menu-back button
thanks siddharthsure93
Step 5: TAKING A NANDROID BACKUP
if you have no idea about this, read this
http://forum.cyanogenmod.com/topic/38468-nandroid-backup-what-is-it-and-did-i-need-it/
make sure that your sd card has at least 1gb free space and you have 50% battery charge
1)Hoping that you have cwm installed, turn off phone
2)Enter cwm by repeatedly press vol down button when sony logo appears
3)go to "backup and restore"
4)select "backup"
5)wait for 10-15 minutes till your phone is backuped
6)now you have a copy of your current phone and rom memory
we do this to restore phone if something goes wrong
NOW YOU HAVE PREPARED YOUR PHONE TO GET CM9 OR ANY FU*KIN ROM !!! :good::good:
IF I GO WRONG SOMEWHERE, PLEASE CORRECT ME WE ALL LEARN FROM OUR MISTAKES.
PLEASE PRESS THE THANKS BUTTON IF I HELPED YOU

Im with a neo v with A.0.62 firmware
Which cannot be rooted
But i have already unlocked bootloader
what can I do now?
If i directly flash in JB Kernel and rom, will I be able to have root permissions? Do i even need to care about my .62 firmware if i want to go into CM10?
What should i do? Thanks!

You will need to root your phone first. Installing a custom ROM won't automatically give you root acces. In fact, I don't think you will be able to install a custom ROM without ClockWork Mod Recovery which needs root access first. Follow Sony's own rooting guide here: http://talk.sonymobile.com/thread/41119?start=0&tstart=0. Then install X-Parts from the Play Store to get CWM.
Once you have CWM you can install any appropriate custom ROM you like.
Oh is that gonna be painful
Iv unlocked bootloaded with .62 firmware
So i cant get to official ics and stucked with the .62, flashing an older firmware for the root is risky? After that i have to go back to .62 again?

Use flash tool and an ftf file to update to ICS. You can go with 0.587 version for example.
After update as you are on unlocked bootloader you should flash a custom ICS kernel like suave, night elf or any other ICS compatible. This will give you root and cwm.
Look at the stickys. You will find all you need.

You can always relock the bootloader (don't know what method you used to unlock, so can't advise on how to relock - I only know how if unlocking was done through Sony). Update the firnware to stock Sony ICS using Sony's PC Companion. Then root it using Sony's rooting guide. After rooting you can unlock the bootloader again. Install X-Parts and CWM. Then try out the custom ROMs+kernels to your heart's content.

On the other hand, unlocking via official method gives you an easy option to Relock bl via flashtool!
There's a thread by Blagus on how to do that!
Btw even Relocking via setool is an option for unofficially unlocked bl users!
So there's always an option!

Yes. That's the tutorial I'm talking about. I only mentioned what I did because I've done it before. After relocking use PC Companion to update your phone. Or the Sony phone repair program. I don't remember which. If you try both (like I did) one (or both) of them will work. But still you are out of warranty. You know that, don't you?

Basically its all about DRM loss. What do I exactly lose? Only trackid? I suppose the newer versions run on unlocked bootloaders as well.

I think you are right. It's basically about losing DRM. I don't know what it is and of what use it is. All I know is I've never missed it. If you are into trying out custom ROMs then unlocking the bootloader is a must because certain custom ROMs need custom kernels. To install custom kernels you must have an unlocked bootloader.

If you want to flash cyanogenmod, you don't need to root. Just flash the cyanogenmod kernel (which is prerooted and has cwm included) and after that install the rom. For that check out how to install custom roms/kernels (in my signature).
And remember: NEVER EVER DO UPDATES OVER THE AIR IF THE BOOTLOADER IS UNLOCKED!!! OTHERWISE YOUR PHONE WILL BRICK, SO DON'T ACCEPT UPDATES FROM UPDATE CENTER ON PHONE!!!!!
To root ics just flash a prerooted kernel for ics like rage kernel for ics

Actually, I was also having same problem..
better try on Windows XP.. Make sure you enable "USB Debugging" , "Unknown Sources" & "Mass Storage Mode"
even if you miss anything, it is not possible to root.. Make sure all of the above.. i bet you can root 100%
@ arifkpi, did you even read the whole op's thread? he clearly says he did install the drivers from the folder...
After installing the driver, without using flashtool, switch the phone off and connect it both in flash mode and fastboot mode (first holding vol+ then vol-) windows (i am supposing you are on windows?) will ask for the connected device drivers, tell it to search them automatically in the computer, then try again.
It happened to me too , what I did was after installing the flashtool drivers I uninstalled flashtool and re-installed it and it worked perfectly! I think at first the flashtool didn't recognize the installed drivers, after uninstalling and reinstalling flashtool it was able to recognize the drivers . And to be on the safer side check all the flashtool drivers in the drivers installation page .
Press thanks if I helped!

For checking if you have successfully unlocked you bootloader,
Dial: *#*#7378423#*#*
Go to "Software info"
See "S1 boot version"
If there is "R9A...",your bootloader is locked
If there is "r9A..." your bootloader in unlocked
So,"R" indicates locked and "r" indicates unlocked bootloader.
Finally, after one month of I manage to install CynogemMod 9.1.0-mango with Android version 4.0.4. I read so many blogs and forums but some how the methods are not working for me. So, I mixed my own experience and altered some steps and bang, now it's cracked, just have had to compromise with Sony Bravia Engine.

For checking if you have successfully unlocked you bootloader,
Dial: *#*#7378423#*#*
Go to "Software info"
See "S1 boot version"
If there is "R9A...",your bootloader is locked
If there is "r9A..." your bootloader in unlocked
So,"R" indicates locked and "r" indicates unlocked bootloader.

First:You will not have to root your device to install Cyanogenmod, nor is there any need to downgrade, IF you unlocked the bootloader.
Okay, try to solve this systematically.
1) Check if your bootloader is unlockable, described here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1879750
and check if your Bootloader is really unlocked.
2) If not, follow the instructions from sony (http://unlockbootloader.sonymobile.com) or the same thread (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1879750).

If you unlocked the bootloader (see above), you do not need a special version of flashtool or root your device, everything you need is available from google and cyanogenmod. Are you working on Windows? You will need to install drivers as some of the posters here already pointed out. However, i personally always use Ubuntu for everything Android and this works usually well.
To install Cyanogenmod, you will use flashtool. Your device has to be in flashmode. Turn your device off. Wait a few seconds, hold Volume down and connect the usb cable while holding vol down. Full instructions for installing Cyanogenmod on Mango are here: http://wiki.cyanogenmod.org/w/Mango_Info
Just install everything
Does work.

Here comes my question: what are abd drivers?
Please help!

Hello there,
I have decided to ask for help after reading at least 100 threads here and on Android forum. I wanted to get custom ROM, so I've checked all guides - man everything over here, and I still managed to brick my phone! ( yellow triangle and no boot? )
----------
-at first I checked the bootloader, and I managed to unlock it using 2nd option in particular thread - some kind of software SE..+ code
-then downloaded Flashtool - done the drivers, changed firmware in the folder; download. OctanE, Gapps zip to my SD card.
and then I bricked my phone by incorrectly plugging, pressing and all that stuff while in Flashtool.
-so then I got Wotan, followed instruction, and of course I got stuck again.
-so I got LuPuS kernel and successfully flashed it, please do not ask how I have no idea.
Right now i would like to get OctanE, but I get to safe mode only by pressing volume down key.
Can somebody of you guys be so kind and guide me step by step ( I really do not understand what to do, sorry) how to get CWM, how to root it because I've got ROM Manager from Google play and it says the phone's not done.
thanks guys,
Veronika
Dear why you are doing such confusing activity.
Just do one thing if your booloader is unlocked then you just connect your phone to flashtool in fastboot mode and flash suitable custom kernel of your phone, by the way the kernel flashing is 5 seconds process,
And if you have flashed Lupus kernel then use POWER KEY WHEN MOBILE BOOTS UP AND PURPLE LED BLINKS instead of vol key to enter in recovery

Hello,
problem Solved after 10 hours!! of fixing, un-bricking and frustration. Let me explain:
-------
I've had ICS .587 with bootloader unlocked and could not root it by downgrading to .0.62, my phone got bricked everytime. I didn't understand I could just flash pre-rooted one. So I have downloaded, flashed it and it contained CWM aswel.
Then I've flashed custom kernel Vengeance, after that OctanE, but my phone was a bit unstable, so I got LuPuS.
All done, there are too many guides and I got really confused.
Thanks for help

Yes, I installed drivers, when I go to import device it just says that there's no device to import.
Also, after trying one more time, when I press the confirm button (step 5 of the tutorial) it says that an error ocorred (it says something about memory and to try again),

For this you will need Flashtool and Xperia drivers intalled on your PC. (Installing Sony PC companion will do)
Well, what you need to do is download the kernel of previous version. I have attached a file but I am not sure if its the old version. (.10)
Flash FTF of your desired STOCK rom ICS via Flashtool.
Flash kernel of any version before 6.1.1.b.1.54 .
Root it using the file attached.
And you are done!
Make sure the USB tethering is ON in Settings >development !
I have attached the files on page 11 on this post:

Just tried to flash the kernel and when I start the phone all I can see is a black screen (as wallpaper) and the normal icons on top (baterry, etc.) and I can't do anything else with the phone.
Is that normal? If so I just have to root it now with the file attached on your post right?

NO, but don't worry.
Is your bootloader unlocked?
if not, this must be the reason.
if ýou have unlocked bootloader then,
Flash kernel again and root it using .10.
I am thinking you must have disconnected the phone in the middle.
Were you on administration when you tried to flash it ?
You must give administration rights to run the programme.
Were the drivers properly installed ?
A screen came and said to restore and then you didnot disconnect your phone till the programme asked you to ?
Have you followed instructions properly ?
IF all this doesnot work, Flash FTF of ICS of any ICS you like . Root it again !
I have rooted my phone so many times with the file i sent !
And you are using the option 1 when it asks you to root. You are rooting a mobile and not a tablet.
If anything you need to ask, I be writing you back!

Hi again, I still haven't tried rooting since I don't have bootloader unlocked.
I tried following this tutorial: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1527159
But when I went to verify if I can unlock my phone's bootloader it says No. Do I have to follow another tutorial? Or is it impossible?

As I suspected, your phone has come with locked bootloader. This means that Sony will not support your phone to be unlocked. The reason simply is they do not want to give out cheap phones so you can use any other sim on your phone. However, you can only run roms which support locked bootloader and you can not experiment much with your phone as it will brick your device. There are quite few roms which support locked bootloader. Further, the tutorial is simply from Sony and thus will not work for your phone!

OK, one last thing, I found this rom (it says that works with locked bootloader): http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=194647
But in the instructions it says to flash it via CWM (I know that it's a custom recovery), I searched and the tutorials I found either ask for root or unlocked bootloader.
The text file attached in OP doesn't help much as I am not able to know which FW are you using.
I assume that the FW is greater than B.1.10 which Is why u are facing problems while rooting as the FW used in the guide in OP is B.1.10.
FYI, B.1.10 was directly rootable without much hassle just by following the guide but if you have a C.1.0 / B.1.89 / B.1.100 Stock Rom on your device then you will have to do some extra steps

On my phone it says, Build Number: 6.1.1.B.1.54
Here's the Rooting Process for you.
This Rooting guide applies to all FW versions above B.1.10.
1) Open Flashtool.
2) Click the Flash icon.
3) Select Flash Mode. (Make sure USB Debugging is ON in your Mobile Settings before connecting to PC)
4) Select & Flash the B.1.10 kernel. Then Reboot.
5) Select the Un-Lock icon and choose your preferred SU app & proceed.
6) Follow the on-screen instructions.
7) Now you have rooted your device.
8) Flash B.1.54 kernel and let the device reboot.

You don't need to unlock your bootloader in case of flashing stock kernels.
Unlocking bootloader is necessary to flash custom built kernels.
