Cautious, not be trolling you, but, list your issue and what you have tried and are trying to do to correct it.
Basically, flashed to Boost Mobile and don't have 4G working, correct?
If I recall, this one is outside what I know, however, I'm interested to know the correction as well just to tuck away for future knowledge.

yes this is correct.
the downside is not having a good understanding of how wimax is tied into boost mobiles service. We all know its sprints old wimax, for now thats all we know until the design is rooted and what not

Okay I just finished reading some ish over in the evo 4g boosted forum here on xda ...apparently we are trying to hex out current boosted WiMAX mac addresses to a connected mac address and both devices should be able to connect at the same time but different towers..
honestly I did this in high school on an open work network they tried to use a mac filter so I checked for computers on that network copied its mac address and spoofed my iPod and laptop mac address and well you I don't need to say anymore
Forgot to mention that you can get WiMAX mac addresses from nandroid back ups
Thanks to th3b055 and louforgiveno
I got this Intel from them over in the evo supersonic forums

I have an epic 4g flashed to boostmobile and the htc design is wimax? If so, theoretically if I change my Wimax settings to boost and have the 4g plan, it would work right???

Uhh you may have to change your mac address as well not sure if you have.the.boost mobile WiMAX info give.it.a.shot.remember to bring back some.info dude
Sorry been away trying to get.some.stuff.done.
Sent from my PG86100 using xda premium

looking forward to the progress. Can we even get 4G connectivity if we have an EvDo or 3G only phone on our account? I suppose the correct settings simply open the door to connectivity much like the Design can by switching between 3G/4G?

I think we have to flash boost WiMAX settings as an update ...
Sent from my PG86100 using xda premium

The realm is myboostmobile.sprintpcs.com
But that's not the major roadblock. The way Sprint's WiMax works is that they have a database that links each 4G phone's MEID with a specific WiMax MAC and when you have active service on that phone, the MAC address becomes authorized on Clear's network.
In order to have legit 4G on Boost, you'd still need their $299 Evo Design to use as a donor. Then you'd need an as-yet-unknown process of copying the WiMax configuration and RSA keys from the Evo Design to your Evo 3D. I don't see this ever being something that gets figured out on the 3D, since most people who drop the $299 on an Evo Design will just use it as-is. Plus, the Samsung Conquer, Epic 4G and Epic Touch already have full WiMax configuration (including MAC address).
Yeah, the old Evo and Evo Shift could have their WiMax partitions copied between phones. The newer ones are different beasts.

yes i figured this out last week when i purchased a sprint overdrive pro been trying to mod it to clears service got it activated but could not mod the firmware blahhh...
i knew it would be difficult to get on boost 4g we need phew a bunch of things lol anyone notice how when you change your realm to myboostmobile.sprintpcs.com when you try to load a web page it takes you to a subscription page...for either clear sprint or brighthouse lol! okay okay so the thing is to wait tilll your bill drops to 35$ than go to clear subscribe to their 35 or 50 $ plan and you'll have swift 4g woot lol

Simultaneous talk and surf?

What happened to the 3vo being able to talk and surf at the same time as many reports had stated prior to the release of the 3vo? Is this something to be added later or a never gonna happen type of thing?

It works just fine, but only if your data connection is either via wifi or 4G.
Yes I know that same as the EVO but i meant over 3g not 4g or WiFi

Sprint has to enable svdo on their network. The 3d and the EVO shift have the chip set. They are just not activated.

would be better marketing against at&t really, since they are the only one with bragging rights at the moment to be able to do this, not even verizon can at the moment.
Actually the Verizon Thunderbolt can do it currently. Its been something that has been making me think about jumping ship, though at those prices, I should buy a flip phone for when my Evo is online...
The thunderbolt can only do it on LTE and the phone has no toggle to turn LTE off unless its rooted

No the Verizon TB can do it over cdma without being in LTE area. Not all VZ areas support it yet but the phone deff can do it.

Don't think so. the way sprint is doing their voice+data will require a certain chipset on the phones that supports SVDO, which last I checked is NOT in the EVO3D nor the shift. The MDM9600 is the only one ive seen and confirmed to have this built in.
Also a lil note for people that are interested This post lays out some things for the future in sprint and are pretty reliable sources for those that do not know them.

Well people, after reading this thread I just had to put in my 2 cents about it. I live in a 3G area of upstate New York with NO 4G around me and can talk and surf on my Thunderbolt. That was the only reason I dropped the call dropping iPhone with at&t and swithed. I drive a truck "18 wheeler" and everywhere I have gone in the New England area that doesn't have 4G I have been able to do this.

No he's most definitely wrong. The Thunderbolt can do simultaneous voice and data on 3g in svdo enabled areas.
Talk and Surf on EVO and EVO 3D
The solution is not at all elegant and drain the battery pretty quickly.
What else is new here?
In any event, be it in 3G or 4G (irrelevant for 4G I guess):
1) activate the built-in hotspot (password protect it to prevent others taking
advantage of FREE Wifi draining your battery faster than Concord)
2) Activate the phone Wifi and connect to the newly created Wifi in Step 1
At this point, you should be able to talk and surf; an added bonus (already available thru the hotspot feature), is you're able to connect other devices to the Hotspot connection created in Step 1.
The new problem you will have now is to find yourself a lasting battery.

Is there a Post on Flashing to Ntelos or Frawng wireless?

I never even heard of these carriers. If I was you, get a phone that works on them, get CDMA master...read the setting in the software once you get it set up and reading the phone. From the other phones setting...put into evo 3d...this will take care of your question
I was thinking about that. Ntelos runs on sprint's. Network ..wonder if ha and AAA password is needed...

As far as I know not the Sprint Version as far as the gsm Evo 3d I don't know. The radio's don't work and I don't think even if they did Verizon would allow it like the little guys do (coughs boost cough) Even so the Boost network is Sprint's that they pay to use. I do know that Verizon PRL works on our phone but it counts as roaming and sprint will give you the boot for using it too much. I only use it when I visit my father as it's the only way I can get a signal and use it SPARINGLY until the wife and I drive home.
No, you can not.

I think technically speaking, the CDMA EVO 3D will operate on Verizon's 3G frequencies. WiMAX will not work through a Verizon account.
In order to get the device to operate mainly on Verizon and be registered to a Verizon account would be another story and process .. not sure Verizon would support or faciliate this process, let alone allow.
Hope that helps!
Thanks for the responses. Looks like I will jus get a new phone lol =)
Redd3VO
No worries, if you're getting a new phone w/ Verizon I'd say sell your Evo3D for about 250-300 on ebay/craigslist and then wait for the Galaxy Nexus.
Or the Rezound.
Or the RAZR.
Some nice phones are comin' out on VZW this coming quarter...
AND they just updated their data tier plans; doubled every plan's data for the same amount of moolah.

Sprint HotSpot with 4G possible?

So I rooted my sister's Epic 4G touch phone and then flashed this mod:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1394371
I was able to get 4G speed through the Sprint HotSpot on her phone.
I was curious to hear reasons why this would or wouldn't be possible on our EVO 3D's...
I'm not a developer, just an active forum member/flashaholic.
Thanks!
EDIT: I normally use WiFi Tether beta version 6. This post is regarding the stock hotspot app that can currently be modded to work on ONLY 3G.

In the OP of the link, they comment the original mod was done by Necrosan who I consider a good friend and I do recall when he was working on this.
It has been a few months, but I want to recall he was modifying changes in the framework to bypass their security checks.
In theory, sure this could be done on the EVO 3D. In actuality, somebody with great Java/Smali knowledge and the ability to reverse the apk files looking for the security checks would need to go through the EVO 3D.
For starters, HTC and Samsung are setup quite differently in their framwork files. HTC is generally a bit more *complex* due to Sense.
In theory, it would take somebody with the time and know how. In actuality, I haven't seen many people post up about this or request it.
I know Necrosan would enjoy the challenge but I can't recall if he has the EVO 3D device. Might be worthwhile posting a request or politely PM'n the devs to ask if they're able to undertake this project on the EVO 3D.
Hope that helps add a bit of clarity to the process!

+1 for Wifi Tether using 4G. You have to make sure that you check the enable routing fix in the settings in order to get it to work. I never checked the MSS clamping setting and never had any problems. Anyone know what MSS clamping is supposed to do? A quick google search shows that it is a hack that can break a lot of other things. Thoughts?

I've used the WiFi tether beta 6 app to get 4G. I even checked using speedtest.net on my laptop to make sure I actually got 4G speed.
In the OP, I was wondering if the stock Sprint Hotspot could be hacked (like on my sister's epic 4G touch)...it's just one less app to install.
I just like to keep my EVO 3D with the least amount of apps possible. More room to take pictures and video of my little boy.

Yea I can guarantee that the speeds will be much lower with more than a few people connected to the network. I'm just impressed that Sprint is capable of this is all.

Check out the company called light squared and search it with sprint in the same search. Sprint is paying out the ass to make it work. I'm a recruiter and I work with the company they have recently had some break through and even some test. If it works out. Sprint will be able to use the tech to transfer their LTE anywhere you can receive a GPS signal.
