Hi guys, my cousin needs a new phone and she has US$250 as max budget? what should I recommend her? it has to be unlocked and contract free and include the GSM 850 band.
Thanks,
If you don't mind android china phones clones, they are quite cheap and the latest MTK 6575 cpus that is used in china phones is a 1ghz (cortex A9) and powerVR gpu. I'm sure its better than the good branded counterparts at the same price. It's more like the risks involved when buying a china phones are the issue. But personally I think China phone clones are getting better.

Hey people,
First here is my question : I am a rom flashing addict! I really like to flash different roms on my phone, now considering this, should I buy the international version (quad core and 1gb ram) or I can buy the Canadian version (dual core and 2gb ram)? I know that Canadian is the same than American version (And i THINK Japanese). The problem, once again I THINK, is that the rom of one of the versions wont work on the other.
So knowing I like to flash roms which version should I buy? (also buying the Canadian version will cost me less and it will be easier to repair the phone if I have a problem)
Thanks a lot for your help.
Actually, it isnt necessary to have 100 diff roms that arent good, but at least of couple of them that have good support (no matter what is the version).
Also, i really dont care abt the specs of the phone (hardware speaking).
Thanks again
Go for the North American version. The processor in it (the S4) currently smokes every dual core processor. The North American version will probably see more development support as all the major US carriers are getting the same version, plus Canada.

But are there a lot of good developpers in US and Canada (and some other countries that will have this version of the phone). NOT to offend anyone at all, just a simple question.

Why does everyone think the us has more devs what on xda maybe but no there is more devs in.Eu and most Asia than in us I can't understand that lol how about you look at the thread about unified development idk wth people will be jealous over anything infact international side is new to me and so far I like what I see being I'm getting the UK s3 not the us version I can get both but why would I .
I have 4 phones on sprint now don't need a 5 but I don't envy having to deal with carrier updates and delays due to apple past that issue they will be great us and non us quad core , dual core or 2 gigs ram to 1 all I care is we have better stuff than apple ..

Yes CPU is on par but what about Mali 400 vs adreno 225 .
I have that same setup in the EVO LTE minus a gig of ram and all I see is quadrant and vellamo which I belive one is based dual core and the other qualcomm I think created but when u look at the one x tegra and s3 quad its noticeably faster .
But who cares on bench marks I agree heavy multi taskers will enjoy the 2 gigs ram but I don't have issues on.my evo LTE especially with more roms coming.
Everyday use they will both be awesome phones but as I said we are awaiting apple's crap end of year because after all the bs this year by them I think most of us are waiting on the ip5 vs sgs3 as trivial it is

If you want more roms etc go for international. It has larger userbase (allready 9 million ordered). It will propably get cyanogenmod support earlier etc

Hi folks,
I'm thinking about buy a Galaxy S III, but here on Brazil they sell the quad-core version with 1GB RAM. I think that dual-core with 2GB RAM will make my device last for a long time (about updates, performance and such). What version (AT&T, T-Mobile, Verizon) should i buy? Please consider that i'll need to unlock it here on Brazil.
Thanks and sorry for english.

All carriers in the u.s only has the dual core 2gb ram. If data speed doesn't matter to you and I'm not sure about your carriers speed there, in my opinion I would rather get the quad core one

Your gonna need a gsm version, so Att or Tmobile. Either way you'll need to debloat it because of the carrier apps. I'd say your best bet to get it working on hspa 1900mhz would probably be Att, but the Tmo one may work on it in Brazil, I don't know?
Your best bet is the quad core international though, at least Imo!

I have both. There are little differences between the two phones. I'll try to cover them as best I can.
Processor - Performance seems to be a wash with the exception of the GPU, which is much faster in the Quad. So, Quad if you in tend to play games.
RAM - The extra gig of RAM does make a difference on the S4. I typically have around 1.6 gigs free and apps I have running in the background rarely get killed now. If you multitask a lot, you'll like the S4 more.
Camera app - Minor issue, but the shortcuts in the camera app don't currently stay. They reset almost every time you launch the camera. On the S4 version, they come pre-populated and never reset. This is actually kind of important to me.
Battery - Battery was better on my Quad, but that was because it was 3G only, I forced my LTE AT&T S4 to 3G and hit similar battery life. If you're not going to be on LTE, battery performance will be a wash.
Apps - International version has easy access to some apps (such as Samsung app hub) that the U.S. version doesn't. That being said, I was able to find the APK and install it. Also, the version you get may have bloatware, depending on the carrier. However, it can all be disabled.
Those are the primary differences I have noticed. If not for the camera shortcuts, I may very well prefer the Quad version myself. But the S4 version has been pretty good and I intend to stick with it. I'm not a heavy gamer and the S4 stays cooler under load.
Well,
Here in brazil the version is the international one (i9300) quad-core. I can buy it here directly from stores, but i was thinking about getting the 2GB RAM version to make the cellphone last as my primary phone for a long time (2 years or more), so to receive newest versions of android and run smoothy i think RAM is better than processor.
I dont play a lot on it, i'll use it to work, social networking, presentation, and photo/video taking on parties.
hi guys, so im trying to figure this out, i've purchased a phone from bell before, which tursn out it wasnt that, and infact was a whole different model which is lesser than i thought i was buying...
so, im thinking of looking at that GALAXY S3 but i see theres a few models of it, or revisions, theres the i9300 which it might or might not be... or theres the newly released i9305 which it seems like LATELY they've been trying to advertise this phone so i almost thought it was the i9305... but its not
i called bell and asked them for what the "model number is" but she said, im not sure i think its " LT7416" which i find nothing on, go figure...
heres a link to it on their site, if it asks to select province then select bc i guess http://www.bell.ca/Mobility/Products/Samsung-Galaxy-S3
now i know that the i9300 has a quad core cpu and 1gb of ram the 9305 has 2gb of ram with same quad core.... , which is what i'd like, yet somehow on bells site its advertising it to have 2 GB OF RAM with a 1.5ghz DUAL CORE what the heck?
now im thinking WTF how can bell falsely advertise a phone name when it is actually a total different model, my phone from them i thought was a galaxy W when its actually, guess what, a exhibit II
but yeah i want to get to the bottom of this, i want a quad core phone from bell, the S3 looks dreamy but only if its that i9300 model or a 9305 with a quad core atleast....
i have found this... http://www.phonearena.com/phones/Sam...-Sprint_id7099
now searching more i believe the common cheap model of the actual S3 here in canada is the " I747m" which is the 2 gb 1.5 ghz dual core , anybody know where i could find a real 1 on contract? thanks!

Buy just the phone directly & then choose the carrier whose network, service & most importantly the plans you like.

According to the Bell Mobility S III User Guide, the S III is SGH-I747M. I presume the M stands for N.America. You can always go into a real store to see actual model numbers.
Buy the phone you want outright then negotiate your terms with your carrier of choice without getting locked in. In the long term you will save money.
It's not the cheaper version. It's the American version which comes with lte. It's dual core because the lte radio was not compatible with the exynos quad core processor. If you want an international version you should find one easily online.

I currently live in South America and use a Captivate with Jelly Bean (yeah, an AT&T Captivate) so I want to upgrade to an SIII. I will root and flash the phone so any 3G phone would be compatible. Since that phone costs about $800 dollars here, I wanna get it in America. I just need to decide whether to get the US version or the International version.
We don't have LTE or 4G here, so that's not relevant. Warranty is not relevant either since I'll be in South America. Since I come from a very old phone, any improvement would feel like a lot. Now, I read that the Int. version has a quad core but 1 RAM, whereas the American version has dual core with 2GB RAM. For those who have tried both, is the difference very noticeable? Specially after installing a bunch of apps, since the comparison videos use freshly reset phones. Are there any other differences between both phones besides the processors? I'm considering speed and price but also duration, which one you recommend?

Hello,
My friend, please stay away from HDC, they are really nice looking clones but their hardware and quality is the worst!
I have the HDC s4 Legend, HDC s4 Spark, and the Note 3, they all are perfect and exact 1:1 replica clones visually, they even come with the samsung logo in and accept all samsung accesories which is a nice touch. BUT hear this:
They lie in ALL their product specs, i mean ALL.
First, i bought the HDC S4 and they promised a exynos processor, it was really a mtk6589 with the hardware hacked to show as an exynos. battery life lasted like 4 hours at most.
Then i bought the HDC s4 LEgend, very beautiful phone, lighter than the original, BUT they advertised it with WCDMA 850,1900 and 2100, and it only had 2100 so no 3G in North-South america, they also advertised it with 2gb ram and it only had 1gb. 16 gb rom and it only had 3gb, and 2600 mah battery and it only had 1,500mah. so i just bought another brick, and gave it to my son to play games.
With the note i bought it as a gift and had the same issue, bad battery etc, so i had to buy original batteries that fixed the battery issue, 3g worked this time, but screen was horrible,
Besides, after showing them evidence that their WCDMA bands were incorrect, they denied it, battery were incorrect, they denied it, CPU RAM , ETC they denied it all, never wanted to make warranty valid, so i lost a good 350 usd in brick phones.
Please save yourself from buying that crap, or buy it at your own risk if you really want a Galaxy clone, these phones (s6) have really poor specs, mtk6582 and 1gb ram (they advertise 2gb) with poor battery life, that's not even mid range by 2015 that's low range, so i really recomend buying other brands, from other reliable sellers, with a hell lot of better specs and hardware for just 20 usd difference in price range.
i Recomend, Elephone p7000, any other THL phone, those have an amazing quality, i just bought a Kingzone z1, and that phone is a beast.
so stay away from HDC and buy from honest sellers who advertise the REAL sspecs like, antelife.
Regards
Hey... thanks my friend. Very helpfull post.
