Hi, everybody.. for about a week ago, i rooted my XPERIA arc S (4.0.3) and it went flawlessly when i used the doom's rooting toolkit...So now i have made a factory reset on my phone to update to officiall android 4.0.4-.... So MY question is the following: Will [ROOT] Rooting Toolkit for Xperia 2011 ICS [FW:.562]{LOCKED & UNLOCKED BOOTLOADERS} work for 4.0.4 also?
Thanks :=)
Think it would still be rooted do you have the SU icon... just tr giving root permission for app..
Well since i have made a factory reset.. the root is no longer there.. and i also made the reset just so i could update to 4.0.4 to then later on root my New 4.0.4...

I am waiting for a method where it doesn't require to unlocking the bootloader in order to root it. It's in the stickies...

The new updates from SE really improved the phone and wouldn't want those bugs to come back again so that's why I wait to root.
Hoping a dev makes work of it
You can use gingerbreak. But it's easier to unlock it, you have more possibilities in phone modding, and it's relockable
you can root 2.3.3 with gingerbreak without having to flashback?
root your play with no locking bootloader
you won't have update .146 though I just did it and works flawlessly
basicly you downgrade root and ota update to 2.3.3 (.145)

Hi. I couldnt root my arc s, version 2.3.4, build 4.0.2.A.0.62
I've tried several methods, including the Batch on windows and the software "unlock root".
It's possible to root my device by any other methods or I still have to wait to something come up?
thanks!
You must downgrade to 4.0.2.A.0.42 and then you can root you phone
Hi, so I see that ISC is now available for this tablet. I have my sony tablet s rooted. would upgrading from the tablet kills the root? if so, how do I upgrade while keeping my tablet rooted?
i think so but just to be sure just wait till someone on here got the rooted version of ICS so you can be certain!
You can download ICS and root via Condi's AIO v2.7 here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1515720
Good luck,
I am stuck with kernal10 for now.
Arc S has a 4.0.4 with 4.0.3 kernel firmware that can make us easy to root without flashing kernel. Does Neo got one?
However I have a question:
According to this thread (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=26798415&postcount=141)
I flashed my Neo to 4.0.4 (4.1.B.431), then in STEP 2, I flashed kernel from 4.0.3(4.1.A.0.562) without wipe anything in order to root my phone. The problem is after I flashed the kernel, I got many error messages popup on screen... I don't know what problem, and I checked the About phone, it still in 4.0.4 (4.1.B.431)...
Please do not open a thread for your question, already posted here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=26884944&postcount=176
Thanks
Hi!
I read on another thread that the .587 update for Live With Walkman couldn't be installed in phones with modifications in the Framework or something like that. I tried to install it and when it rebooted a notification showed up saying that .587 update could not be installed.
Any idea of how to return to an updateable state without having to reflash ROM or loosing Root?
I want to do the OTA update because with that method i keep Root (using the SUrvive OTA Update in Superuser app) and it's really a pain doing all the process of downgrading to GB and all that stuff.
Thanks!
You can:
Downgrad stock GB and root and
Flash the .587 fimrware via flash tool
You can also:
Create a pre rooted .587 FW
