hi,
ive experienced a strange prob,
which happens only in wlan.
if i block everything via droidwall, my wlan icon still shows activity aswell as traffic monitor app shows me some system traffic. (no particular app)
under mobile inet theres zero traffic then, but not in wlan!
howcome?
i want to avoid constant traffic due to battery drain
can some1 tell me if he has the same 'bug ' ?

Hello,
ive figured out a weird "bug" on the S2 already and the same goes for the S3.
nearly every sec it receives traffic over wlan - even with EVERYTHING deactivated or ports blocked by droidwall.
Traffic Monitor (app) shows me constant "system traffic" (goes higher by nearly every sec)
on EDGE&HSDPA theres no such usage/traffic, Traffic monitor shows me 0 system traffic nearly.
so is that ICS related ?
ive not seen that on the S2 with 2.3gbread or desire @2.3
Looking for an app to monitor the traffic through my mobile hotspot. I unplugged my modem and set up my PC, Xbox, etc to use my 4G as an experiment for the next week, and I want to find a way to monitor all the traffic through the phone. I can see the total amount of data but I think it would be interesting to have even more information.
ZTE Grand X In, Android 4.0.4.
Google Talk services are draining battery, that seems to be known problem. But, this issue for this topic is different one.
I checked Better Battery Stats, Better WiFi. Seems that wake related to wifi is the main issue many times.
The problem is - when I have WiFi hotspot, good signal, got connection, but do not get network access (needs to be authenticated), all of that in background (no alert, no visible action on screen). So, on WiFi screen I can see connected, but actually I did not get network access, so all services which need network access (including Google services) are simultaneously trying to go to network, to get updates or any other data and - that is draining battery heavily - access to network is not existing.
Anybody experienced this? How to fix this issue?
So, connected to WiFi hotspot, very good signal, the WiFi is connected.
No network access (WiFi needs to be authenticated), all of that in background (no alert, no visible action on screen).
For example - trying to reach 8.8.8.8 - Google DNS does not work
Phone is rooted (just to say that - I may install any application that would be helpful, also, access to configuration files available).
What needs to be done? Which parameters are to be reconfigured?
How to control the number of attempts Android is doing from different applications to access network resources?
My phone does not show the mobile data icon in the status bar to show whether I am connected or not, even if I have my wifi turned off. I know I am connected to mobile data but I can't tell when my phone switches between wifi/data, if I have connection problems or if I am connected to 4G or not.
Anyone has any ideas how to fix?
I have H960 model
Thanks!
Have there been a fix on this? This just happened to me recently. Had the wifi on for the apps to update before taking a nap. Next thing I know mobile data on the status bar isn't showing anymore when I have my mobile data. Doesn't affect the functionality, it's just annoying that I have to swipe down the notif bar if I have it on everytime.
