I just got the evo as my new work phone. I attempted to connect vpn via IPSec VPN Xauth PSK. Everything connected perfectly but i can not ping my work network or connect to devices on the network. So its made a secure connection to my asa but is not sending or receiving traffic. this seems to be a similar issue that the transformer prime had. here is a link to google issue. has anyone else had this problem? please help!

PPTP VPN has come and gone on different Radio Firmware all the last 3 Sprint Android phones (EVO 4G, EVO 3D). But initial release of EVO 4G LTE got that right.
You need to narrow things down.
Are you VPNing from the PC or From the phone itself.
I suggest trying it with Phone on WIFI and see that works first (assuming your VPNing from the Phone).
If everything works on WIFI and then fails on 3G you may be in for a wait.
If it fails on WIFI you may have a setup issue or something that might get addressed in a Custom ROM or future Custom Kernel.
If your doing it from say a PC and WIFI Tether. WIFI Tether apps can influence things.

thanks for the reply. it doesnt work on wifi either... it would help a lot if someone has gotten this to actual work chime in or someone who is having the same issue as me chime in.
When your connected through the vpn I see you tried a ping, but can you try running a tracert to one of your PC or servers on the network and let us know what you see?
I'm looking to see where is your connection going to once your authenticated (if your fully granted network access)
Another thing you may want to check is what IP address is assigned to the phone when you connect.

So I got into my asa at work and found out it is hitting the firewall, authenticates, and then drops due to this error "QM FSM error" I have no clue what that means here is the whole output from the asa.

Router information: Linksys Wireless-N WRT120N
I have done everything that i could think of to get this working. i have done several google searches and they all say to do specific things.
For example:
-Reset router
-Enable B/G only or G only set at channel 11
-turn off router firewall settings
-and a bunch of other random sh*t
i have done all of the above then some and i still cant get it to connect. all i get is *scanning* then *disconnected* thats the only two things it says. except right after i reset the router. every time i reset the router i get * obtaining IP yadadada* then goes to *disconnected* then back to the "scanning, disconnected" loop.
there have been some people that have said flashing a custom firmware on the router would fix the issue with mobile connectivity on Wireless-N routers.
please someone be helpful with this and please dont tell me i need to reset my router. i have asked this same question on several forums and the only replies i get are "if you reset the router and turn off security it WILL work fine" thats bull****. im not an idiot. thats the first step any computer literate person would take before asking questions.
**Update: same as from General thread. i had to repost because it was closed for some reason there. also here are the answers to the other two guys to responded.
"not standing close enough" -i have been standing next to it. i have yet to test it more than 10 feet away lol so it cant be there
"flash another rom or reflash current rom" -it has nothing to do with my rom, kernal, or radio. this issue is also happening on my girlfriends xperia running Wolfxperia and mine is the blackeditionHDv2. its also an issue with her sisters xperia. hers is still stock 2.2(i think). their stepdad has an iphone and it wont connect with that either. from what ive gathered... its a mobile issue. i know all these phones say (b or g only) but even setting the router to broadcast in b/g it still wont connect. it notices the routers name with full strength on all devices. also i might add that their laptop is an older laptop. does not support N but still can connect to the router and have internet.
Same here. Xperia mini x10 pro. When on it says connecting even thought I nothing appear visible.

as for me it just started, before that when i was at col i was able to watsapp as usual, the phone is currently not with me but when i get i will post some ss for you to see.

Here are the ss
any idea on how i can solve this?
I'm guessing this is an ip issue. The mobile devices are not able to get one. This usually happens to me on a public network and I even get a " limited or no connectivity".
The work around I do is to assign a static ip on my phone. Its very simple to do and if you need help doing it, let me know.
There's no clear explanation I can tell you, but it seems some mobile devices have a hard time pulling ip's from different types of routers. Hope this helps.

Will ask my gf to give it a try. It happened so abruptly, it was working fine when she was at col then when she came back it won't detect any wifi, whether it's her house or mine, and now that she is back at her col she still can't connect.
I know how you feel.
I have had this issue ever since I first upgraded to Stock 2.3.3 last July. On 1.6 and 2.1 (both stock also) I never had issues.
Basically, in my case, resetting the router DOES solve the problem, but only for a limited time. This limited time is random, as sometimes it will work for a few days, and then sometimes it will cut out a few hours again after I have reset my router. I am also using the static IP method (and an app called WiFi Stat which I initially thought had solved the problem, but it hasn't) I'm not sure what triggers the WiFi connection to be lost, but there must be a trigger. Like I said, I never had this issue in my previous old Android versions.
I had hoped (somewhat naively) that moving to a custom ROM would solve the issue, but after installing Wolf's latest ROM, I still have this issue.
Have you tried anything based on 2.3.4 or above, to see if this is an Android 2.3.3 issue? Are there any good ROMs people could recommend that are based on higher versions than 2.3.3?
WEP/WPA key issue?
If its not the kernel/ROM/version of the phone, it could have something to do with the way the security is set up for your router. I had the most frustrating time logging into my university's wireless (think it was encrypted with 802.1x EAP) which required username and password. Though most home-owned router are equipped with WPA/WPA2 PSK or WEP, you can try the steps below:
1. Go to Settings ->Wi-Fi Settings -> Add Wi-Fi network
2. Type in the network SSID (yeah this is the manual part)
3. Open the "Security" drop-down box and set the following:
Security: 802.1x EAP
EAP method: PEAP (default)
Phase 2 auth.: MSCHAPV2
CA cert.: leave unchanged
User cert.: leave unchanged
4. Type in username (if any) and password.
Once again, this would work 99% for 802.1x...not sure about WPA/WEP. Good luck!
Try Channel 6 in router option and hope it works.
Solve
setting a static ip doesnt seem to work.. any idea? i wish not to re-flash as i dun think that would be a permanent solution.
again i dun think it has anything to do with my router as other gadgets are able to connect with it and i didnt fiddle with the security.
It is unable to detect any router as i have tried it different hotspots.
Hope to get some help.
------------------------------------
I wipe clear the settings and it worked again.. hope the problem doesn't persist again.
ok so my evo is Boosted and ive been trying to get faster speeds so i said F%*(%& it and i had a clear account for my Gaming needs and now i got Comcast so i said let try and get my phone on this account and finally last night they took it as an ( INTEL HANDHELD DEVICE ) and it is stupid fast im happy but when i try to use the 4G hotspot its NO GO BRO! it gives an error saying

What on earth?
On your Sprint Evo 3D, you're trying to use
- Clear WiMax 4G (not Sprint's)
- on the Boost Mobile network
- with a Comcast modem
- to play video games
This makes absolutely no sense -- slow down, son! What exactly are you trying to do here?
If you mean you just want to get your 4G hotspot working (regardless of provider), you obviously shouldn't use the built in Sprint hotspot (even the hacked one). You're going to have to screw around with Wifi Tether for Root (google it) or Barnacle, potentially in ad-hoc mode. Some tools (including the official hotspot tool) and some tethering modes pretty much tell the WiMax tower to assign a new IP to the broadcast, effectively giving your computer or laptop a distinct IP from the phone. This is why they don't work, and it's also how the company finds out. Clear probably sees this secondary IP request produced by the tethering app, notes that it isn't the IP configuration you set up with them (or paid for), and blocks your service.
Your solution? Get the phone working again, then use a different form of tethering or a different mode. Ad-hoc mode (Barnacle) and wired tether (PDANet) are practically guaranteed to work, unless Clear has a way of sniffing packets for routing protocols.

So what im running is HTC evo 3d on Boost Mobile and i added a Clear account its fast but when i tether it wont let me gives the error ? ive read your suggestions/instructions and im a bit lost so any more help you can provide is cool! PLEASE ADVISE! thanks
just use barnicle tether or wifi tether
they work fine with phones running on clear.
I know thats not a seamless integration but you can try custom roms as well....
I usually just use wifi tether it seems to be better for "boosted" phones
esp the ones i get on clear

well thanks for the help but i am running custom thats all ill run! im on Steal25 now and ive used the android tether before and it just seems not to like me ive always had better success with the hacked sprint hotspot! but i am desperate as if i cant get it fixed then its no purpose to have the clear account as i got comcast at home but when on the go i'm N THE NEED FOR SPEED! also as far as Barnacles it's always worked great but i guess i forgot about it Either Way i am glad for the responses and input to this problem
PS
can you tell me what you connected your phone to clear as ??? mine is labeled a intel handheld device ? and when i hit the page it says something about INTEL??? please advise
The Sprint WiFi tether does not work with 4G (clear). You'll need to use WiFi tether or the others. Wi-Fi tether works great and it's free. Check the boxes that say MSS clamping and routing fix (something like that).

Attention!!! I found a fix for getting wrong IP using your router!!!This should help you if internet worked at first day on phone or sometimes works and sometimes not after reconects. This thread i created is about my routers not working with SG3 and other devices. Router fails to assign right IP for my SG3. Example: 192.168.0.100-199(last digit from 100 to 199) should be IP in that range but phone aquires 192.168.1.6 or 192.168.1.8 and it can't get internet acces! I could connect but not surf the internet. To make device get always same IP and most importantly get GOOD IP wich would not be broken and you could surf internet. You just need to reserve IP in router's network settings. This fixed my problem instantly!!!
Thank me if it worked for you!!
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Everything below is history!!
Pure stock, not rooted SG3 international version.
I have strange wifi problem. We have 2 routers. One is main(dlink) it was working fine for 5 days and sudenly my SG3 can't connect to internet. I saw that my SG3 is aquiring wrong IP 192.168.1.8 instead of IP192.168.0.(range of 99- 199) so it won't get connected to internet, but connection to router is good. Tried 2nd(linksys) not main router and it works, i can connect to internet (aquires right IP 192.168.0.138) something like that in right range from 99 to 199. First tried wifi fixers. Didn't work. Then tried factory reset didn't help too. Then hard reset from recovery with data wipe ( correct me if that isn't hard reset). That helped, but not 100%. Now i can connect. To main (dlink) router with right IP IP192.168.0.(range of 99- 199) and internet works, but tried with 2nd(linksys) and now problem has transfered to that 2nd router. I only can ask you. Why? What socery is this? Maybe custom rom i install from stock would fix this. Or i need to fix my problem without roming first? Strange.

Update: i lol right now. I went with my SG3 to googleplay via (main dlink router) downloaded angry birds seasons to see download speed. Speed was okay, played few mins. Tried to go to store again. Internet was gone. Internet works fine on my pc but on phone throught wifi not. And changed IP from 192.68.0.(last digit range 99 - 199 ) to 192.68.1.8. Now both routers have 192.68.1.8 IP as i connect to them with my SG3. Connection is strong but internet does not work, because of that freaky IP. I don't imagine how to fix this. My only thought is to flash my SG3 to custom ROM, because other devices works fine with these 2 routers.
So i flashed custom rom and it worked for a while. I guess because i did data wipe/factory reset. I thought i have solved the problem. Recently i installed FoxHound Rom wich is absolutely briliant. Then getting started app asked me to find wifi network. I sat near my router and... it again aquired wrong IP --->>> 192.168.1.8 <<<--- INSTEAD of 192.168.0.( from range 99 to 199). I i don't know what to do next! HELP ME PLEASE! :/
Our other device Galaxy Note works fine as ipad works fine too with those 2 routers.. But not SG3. Arrggh..

Update: found this thread http://www.dslreports.com/forum/r22...-wireless-devices-aquire-the-wrong-IP-address.
He says:
"Everything connects to the router but getting internet working is only accomplished by manually changing the settings to those described above."
Maybe that's because my SG3 can act as modem too? Can galaxy note 4.0.4 act as modem or iphone4?
Unfortunately problem back again. Browsed internet for few min and got wrong IP as i came 3rd time to connect to wifi dlin router. Then i tried another router linksys and got instantly bad IP by connecting to it too. What to do now?!? It's definitely something wrong with my SG3. Do i need to reflash to original, reset counter and take it to warranty post?
Or maybe there is else i can do? Help!

why dont you use the [1 to 99] host byte range? I know range doesnt really matter but if your phone wants to connect to the lower part, why not change that? Plus, did you try giving your phone a static IP address? thats the first thing I would do
I tried doing static IP on my phone and I think I did it wrong. Now I have flashed again I didn't connect to my main dlink router firstly after I flashed new rom, instead I connected to 2nd Linksys. Downloaded 300mb game and few more apps from googleplay, installed, restarted, reconnected and it still works. Will report later how it's going.

All those few days i was connected to 2nd linksys router. So it worked flawlessly until today when i tried to connect to main router dlink. First time i connected today it worked fine. Second time i got that EPIC FAIL IP 192.168.1.6 now. What the F***?! I resetted that router like 5 times to zero and reentered ips. All other devices works fine with it. Why not my SG3?!?! And my computer threw strange internet connection error but it wasn't affected by it. Internet works on my computer as it should. Error was about double ip. It said that other computer in the same network had the same ip. But it works fine after that error. I'm carring my SG3 to warranty post. I don't know any other options.
Edit: After 5 min tried to connect. It works now again just by reconnecting. Previously it didn't work that way. If it stuck, it was always stuck with that ip even if i did "'forget network" then "wifi off" then phone restart and wait some time. It could only work for some time if i did hard reset. Will see what happens next.
After another 5 min i tried reconecting to 2nd linksys router and now it has wrong ip 192.168.1.6 (not 8 at the end). But i get good in on main dlink router now! So main working and 2nd - not. Wtf... So this problem isn't caused by main router dlink. I now really believe that my SG3 has something wrong. I i will lose my connection again (can connect, but no internet), i will take phone to service.

if you somehow get your phone to connect to the internet again. Just go to the router's configuration window and increase the lease time to max (say 1000hours). That way, your device will get the same IP for at least 1000hours

What's point of doing this if i go to other place and same thing happens. I will increase time there too or smth? I need to fix roots of the problem. Other devices works fine, but not SG3. Do not know.. Will installs few new roms and take it to service. Internet works now with main Dlink router but no linksys (other connected after main). I first thought it can be main router only. I thought when main locks with bad ip so other router gets bad ip too, but i was wrong. So no point in fixing routers, because if i go to anywhere else and there my SG3 lock with bad ip what then i should do? That's the point
This time i tried onother samsung galaxy s3 wich is not mine. Gues what. It bugged the same way. LOL. But somehow unbugged to correct ip after 5min when i did reconnect on that phone. Same thing happenned to mine with new rom. I jst installed new rom on mine and instantly as tried connecting got wrong ip again. But after 5mins~ turned off wifi and back on and it started to work again. Same s*it with both SGS3. I gues that's samsung fail with wifi. Wich cause with some routers to work wrong. And again all other devices have no problems with these router wich have SGS3s. I think i will have to live with it or buy other router.

So router with my sg3 worked for some time for few day and locked again. BUT FINALLY I FOUND HOW TO FIX THIS PERMANENTALY!!! YES!!!
To make device get always same IP and most importantly get GOOD IP wich would not be broken and you could surf internet. You just need to reverse IP in router's network settings. This fixed my problem instantly!!!

Hello,
I am having wifi problems with SG3. Can you please explain what you mean by reversing IP in router's network settings?
Example: 192.168.????
Thanks, I hope someone sees this I know this is an old thread.
hey people,
here is the issue. i am able to connect to my wifi at home no issue. when i try to connect at work it says connected but i have no access to the internet. the bars are grey with the up and down arrow going crazy but the bars never turn blur. sound like its not authenticating. i noticed when i connect its always trying to connect to the same DHCP IP. i asked the network guys to release the address manually but it does not seem to have helped. any ideas. i do not know much about DHCP so i could be blowing sunshine up your a$$. ; )
i own the i757m so there is only 1 radio to choose from.
talk to your network administrator and ask them to verify if the router is actually seeing your phone.
it maybe trying to connevt but the router is not acknowledging the phone is sending a valid request.

I've had this in situations where free wifi is given out. My phone connects to the router but not the Web until I've registered with the service provider. It's not your phone it must be an error in your log on details, password etc
Sent from my GT-I9100 using xda premium
Maybe their DHCP server is acting up. Try setting your IP address manually (assuming you know the rest of the networking configuration as well).

i also tried that. should have mentioned these things, sorry. its really irritating me. i see its connected and it says its connected. it seems like it connects to the router but the DHCP server will not authenticate if thats makes any sense.
Got a free n200 through tmobile to use as a hotspot device for my pc. I was previously getting the job done by using a galaxy note 3 and setting my pc's ttl to 65 but apparently that doesn't work with the newer phones.
I did some searching online and haven't been able to get a definitive solution to bypassing the hotspot throttle, as people seem to have varying results.
Had a lot of issues with PDAnet+, so it's definitely not a long-term solution for me.
Just sent an unlock request to OnePlus, hopefully by next week I'll get the unlock file and I'll root the phone. I'm assuming that rooting the phone will expand my options for what I want to do. Anyone have a solution that worked for them?
Yo, it's like dns hijacking, in fact, this is what you have to do to bypass this.
I'll paint a scenario, see what you make of it...
I plug my sim into a wifi router, in the control panel of this router, I set the wifi to use the 2nd ip, (yes, all isp's actually give you 2 ip's, one that is public, one the isp use's to spy on you, and the one you see in your ethernet card, usually 192.168.1.1.
Your wifi router runs adb, so it is on a different network, being 192.168.0.1, if you set your connecting device to your public ip shown by the router, and nxbogus domain your isp's private number seen in the router, (usually 100.whatever) and their dns, then set your prefered dns in the connecting device, you will bypass the throttling, but you will notice something else...
They throttle you by lowering your phones coverage lol...
Notice in your wifi setup pages your signal will drop from say 75% to 25%, and if you check the config logs, you'll see your limited 90% by the isp..
Yup, I'm isp level in this department..
didn't understand half of what you said. can you break it down a lil bit more?

yea i'm using easytether rn, very similar to foxfi and pdanet+... not a permanent solution however, as it tends to randomly disconnect and i often get kicked out of games due to "network lag". Speeds are exponentially faster than the throttled hotspot, however, so i wont complain.
still, would be nice if there was a solution to this for the native hotspot/tether features... tried everything with apns and changing the ttl on the phone but it didn't work.
looks like someone found a solution for the moto g 5g here, maybe i'll try to implement this for the n200, could be a possible workaround.

moto g solution you posted requires a special kernel. usb tethering through PDAnet+ paid version works fine, the key is you dont enable it thru the native tethering, instead enable USB tethering through the PDAnet app and leave the phone on charging mode so it can make a ADB connection. Make sure ADB is working and you can establish a working adb connection from PC to phone first prior to attempting to tether since it will use ADB. i get full speeds tethering using the paid version.

yeah i've been doing this via easy tether, gets the job done for the most part
For me, PDAnet has low throughput while EasyTether runs full speed and can be used with OpenWRT. They both disconnect randomly though.
No reason to deal with that if you have root. AdGuard+VPNHotspot+noprovisioning is easy to setup and works fine for most networks.

Only connection is WAN to WAN!
Ok, first, I use an lte wifi router, enter gui, goto lan, change router login ip to any ip not 192.168.1.1 or 192.168.0.1, the latter is hidden in router, but when trying to connect 2nd router, using this ip, problems appear, because the 1st router has adb enabled due to the lte section of 1st router being android 6, and uses's it.
So in effect, I set 1st routers address to 192.168.1.5, 255.255.254.0, 192.168.1.3 ie, this is 1st router login address. In the 2nd router I set mac address of 1st router to use 192.168.1.3, having been set in the 1st.
I do this because if I set 2nd router to match 1st routers address, the 2nd router auto changes address, when plugged in to first, and the 1st router changes too.
So now that you can goto 192.168.1.1 in 2nd router with 1st plugged in, try 192.168.1.3.
First part over, now the tricky part...
Disconnect 2nd router (this Will become your MAIN router)
Start 1st router with sim in, only to obtain public ip, because you need to set this ip in WAN of 2nd router. If your ip changes every reboot, you need to check public ip from first router match's what you set the wan ip to in 2nd router.
Now when you are in 1st router's network/lan settings, look for option to use 2nd ip. enable it, in the ip box put your public ip, ie your internet ip, and remove all access to anything else, including disabling wifi, both 2.5 and 5g.
So now plug in 2nd router WAN to first routers WAN.
Go into 2nd router, and block the PRIVATE ip seen in 1st router, the ip the isp shows you, and NX=bogusdomain your isp's private dns
In your WAN page of 2nd router, set preferred dns.
Voila.
70-80% increase in response.
The hardware method to block dns hijacking
Ps any reboot of the first router will change its ip due to being lte, so remember to check 2nd router match's after any power outage...
