Does this mean you'll start officially supporting the R800x?
Can any CDMA users confirm that Google Talk is working?

Should we assume this contains the broken sync that Verizon pushed out OTA?
Downloading now. Can't wait to check it out. Thank you!!
For anyone wondering, yes, google sync is still broken in this FTF... nonetheless, its nice to have a flashable file for this.. Thank you so much!! Also Im going to try flashing this baseband on some GSM ICS roms to see how it affects data... will post results shortly.
For developmental use, here is the kernel.. https://hotfile.com/dl/158961355/2b05c38/kernel.sin.html
On a side note.. I modified the 2.34 FTF to include all the original files, but I instead replaced the system.sin with the one from the 2.33 FTF and everything works fine.... which is odd because I thought I would have force close issues with the camera, but I do not..
yeah, it will be helpful.

So you got the benefits of 2.3.4 but with system apps from 2.3.3 and no FC? Also did you try flashing the baseband from the ftf to a GSM ICS rom? Speaking of that which file is the baseband in this ftf? And if you can flash the baseband from this ftf what is the command to type in for it? Thanks
Is this the FTF of the official 2.3.4 R800x firmware? I've been away for a while.

Actually by using the system file from the 2.33 FTF and leaving the rest of the files from 2.3.4, I really don't get any of the 2.3.4 benefits because it's essentially running 2.33s system apps. I believe the system.sin/system.img files contain the system apps, libs, and framework.. which is the bulk of what the FTF file actually is. amss and amss_zeus are the primary baseband files I think (to be sure, exclude everything but the baseband on flashtool.. it will show you what files are considered to be in the baseband)... I haven't gotten around to flashing the GSM roms with this baseband because I haven't had time today like I thought I would... however considering that 2.33 system works with this same baseband, I'm assuming that the baseband isn't any different. By the way, does anyone know what the vendor files use is in this FTF? No previous CDMA FTF files contain it.
Edit: OK KA13/14 does get a CDMA signal when flashing this baseband, but it's on constant roaming, and I do not know why.... The latest ICS rom ported from the arc gets no signal at all after flashing this baseband... I'm going to experiment with baseband flashing and different CDMA fixes as well as the r800i to r800x converter... I'll keep you all posted.

Hey Pax, I actually tried that already.. I use the *22899 option (auto activation and PRL update) but for some reason on KA and most Sony ICS beta based GSM roms, when you try to do activation through verizon, it will act like it completes activation and then plays an unusual beeping sound, and activation ultimately always fails ...
Also tried dialing *#*#4636#*#*from the dialer and changing the network mode to WCDMA, CDMA auto PRL, etc.. (basically all the CDMA options)....any ideas? I'm wondering if the VZW setup wizard along with the VZW libs not being present in GSM roms could affect ability to activate phone?

You GSM users are so lucky! Has anyone on CDMA ever tried to use CDMA workshop to flash a new PRL?? Maybe something like this would be key for GSM to CDMA conversion. I did that on my droid X to get the cricket rom and get off of verizons firmware.

- Added support for New Darkforest OTA application with real updating
- Added Darkforest Tweak app for tweaking your device on the go
- Updated to latest AROMA installer, using ICS theme in installer

Version 3.1.0 is in testing, and is using Xperia S applications, some issues are:
Code:
Setup Wizard needs either replacing or resizing
Timescape needs resizing, although I think it looks fine
There is a bug in the smart dialer, the * button, a bit of it doesn't show, this doesn't affect functionality.

If you are a CDMA user, due to old framework, some of the mods I have applied to the GSM version will not work on the CDMA version. If anyone manages to get any of the Xperia S applications running on the CDMA ROM, please tell me which ones, as I don't have a device for myself.

The reason I do all this is because we are a small community and Sony Ericsson don't attract big developers such as LeeDrOiD and mike1986, so its easier to get to learn about people here. In the other sections I only have a few friends, here I have many

I'll gladly take a 2.3.4 ROM with 4.0.2.A.0.62 (as alternate to the 2.3.3s & 2.3.7s)
Keiran, i have to say, from a lurker's point of view, you are awesome!
When i first saw the name of the thread i was like "Is he insane? Does he have the time?"
But i'm glad to know that you're not, and you're doing it for both us GSM and CDMA.
Kudos!
Just thought I would mention that the only difference between the GSM and CDMA seems to be a few libs and a few build.prop edits
WOO! Thanks meter 500! Thanks!
Okay, so maybe it isn't as simple as I thought. But I am still working on it, and should have something done by today.
Even if I can't get the 2.3.4 ported to the R800x, I can do something else, but thats only if, I probably will be able to do something.
Can someone get me an R800x /system dump?

Best possible way to to do this (on your own) is get the original ftf, extract everything from it as a zip, use sin2img to convert the system.sin file to system.img & then use unyaffs to extract the /system folder from the system.img.

might have to ship the CDMA version with 2.3.3, because I have been reading around and it has been said that the .145 kernel and rom are the only ones compatible with both GSM and CDMA
But still, I can try and get you some stuff for it, if I have to use the .145 as a base.
Keiran
Edit:
Seems that the 2.3.3 verizon stuff isn't quite compatible with the 2.3.4 stuff, either that or I just can't get it right...
Going to try a .145 base android 2.3.3 for the CDMA model, sorry peeps, shouldn't have got your hopes up..
But still, it is another ROM Maybe I can make some themes for it too, to help drown your sorrows?
Right, so someone is VERY determined to stop me from even creating a 2.3.3 version, because, I can not find the 2.3.3 R 3.0.1.A.0.145 FTF anywhere....
I was thinking, maybe I could base my version of this ROM on sharks UK rom? Because I am about to do what he did anyway
Ideas?

Edit. nvm, got the FTF now
Edit2:
Ooh ****....
crapped up my updater-script and it backed out right in the middle of flashing /system, so I adb shelled and cd'ed into system then did rm -r / , I forgot that / stands for root and not the directory that you are currently in, luckily, I only had my sdcard and my system mounted, my SD needed a good format anyway and I was going to format my sys to install the rom.

Source: Android™ Ice Cream Sandwich beta ROM available for unlocked 2011 Xperia™ smartphone models
Official thread by Kalle: [ROM] Official Sony Xperia ICS Beta ROM for arc S, ray, neo V
As a follow-up to the previous alpha, Sony has released the official beta of the upcoming ICS update for 2011 Xperia models. Unfortunately, this beta is currently only available for Xperia arc S, Xperia neo V and Xperia ray and they must be already running the latest firmware (4.0.2.A.0.42).
What's new?
Updated UI – We hope you will be happy to see that we have added a number of UI elements from ICS, as well as some new UI features already introduced in the Xperia™ S we announced in January.
Lockscreen and Face Unlock – We have added a shortcut to the camera directly from the lockscreen. Also, when you’re listening to music you can control the music player without unlocking the phone by using the music control icons on the lockscreen. In the coming final ICS upgrade, we will also include the face unlock app from Google for all phones that has a front-facing camera. The Face Unlock feature uses the front-facing camera in combination with advanced object recognition algorithms to provide a new way to unlock the phone. However, since Face Unlock is a Google Mobile Services (GMS) app, it is not included in this ICS beta ROM.
Connectivity turned on – Since we published the ICS alpha ROM, the GSM modem and FM radio have passed the certification and type approval, and they are therefore turned on in this ICS beta release.
Updated email client – The UI has been updated, and simplified email management has been added.
Quick dial – We have added a quick and easy way for you to make phone calls. See how it works in the ICS beta ROM demo video.
Please note that the Google Mobile Services (GMS) apps (for example Gmail, Google Maps and Face Unlock), Bluetooth™ and Wi-Fi™ are not included in the beta release due to that they are still waiting for the certification and type approval to be finalised.

Hey,
Is there anything for CM9 and funny fix roms yet?
I've been using a rom (can't remember who or where i got it) but the title of the zip is beta4_funny_sim.zip.
Seems to be working fine on the network..
If i switch to the CM9 Lupohirp, are there any known FunnySim fixes?
(would the adfad66 CM7 'funnysim' fix work with CM9?)
Thanks in Advance!!!
The only funny sim fix I've seen is one meant to be flashed for old baseband...if your on new baseband and flash what I just said. You will not have any connection to anything...cm9 by lupohirp hasn't worked for me I think...ill have to flash cm9 to confirm no mobile data....if you or anyone knows of a fix for T-Mobile USA customers with new baseband (v20g) let me know...

I wonder what the difference is between this rom, and the latest KANG's.. and why they haven't made a seperate patch for the FunnySIM fix (new baseband)

I'm going to link up to AdFad's Baseband fix's, which he has created for CM7.. but, as he stated in the second post, 'This also works on CM9'.

CM9-P500-PASQUALE-KANG(21/03/2012)
CM9-P500-PASQUALE-KANG(TESTING VERSION)(03/04/2012)
None work with Adfad66 NewBaseband FunnySim Fix....
They all start creeping at splash screen, and eventually freeze.
Also, for Kang.. I tried pasting the three lib files described to work, which i took from my Beta4_Funny_Sim.zip (where #g worked), and nothing worked properly there either..
So, i must be missing something from Beta4Funny.. I think we should consult Lupo, and ask him to continue making the FunnySim.zips.... and\or just create\past the files which are different from his current nightlies.
Oh well.
Glad i could get the testing done.
AdFad's Funny Sim fix WILL NOT work with CM9.
but, idk about the oldsim issue... someone can probably try and confirm?!?!?
apologies in advance for partially thread-jacking ;]
Jrhodes...
I posted a request for help at his thread... maybe you can help me keep an eye out for any responses which may be helpful..
until we find a fix... check out the Beta4 i posted up there ;]

New baseband P509
I have the LG p509 on t-mobile network and tried to flash cm9-p500-pasquale-KANG zip. I was on old baseband, the thread specifically states for new baseband only. Oopps. I could manually set APN, but I could not save it. I tried all the old baseband zips and nothing worked. I thought I had the Funny Simm because the threads I was reading said it caused the APN problem. OK all the new roms require the new baseband so if I'm going to flash roms better upgrade. I followed this thread [HOWTO] Flashing baseband (radio) via LGMDP.exe it worked perfectly upgraded the radio to V20g. Then I tried the beta4_funny_sim ver of cm9 ics 4.0.3 the collor banding was bad and no camera preview and gallery had FC issues. I reflased CM7.2.0-RC1-p500 zip and perfect my P509 is running new basband no problems with mobile data. I am waiting for the camera fix but I'm so tempted to reflash cm9-p500-pasquale-KANG zip. the only thing that stoped me Is its working perfectly with CM7.2.0-CR1-p500.
I took a look at the first link... Its not based from kang sources but based from nightly source.. So the camera exposures dont work but ive used that rom before

Yeah, it's the only ics that works with funny Sim. I'll take it
Rocking beta four with arjen's latest kernel. Runs great
You up there,
What is your carrier? You probably don't have the new'funny Sim' problem.. Try and load up the latest Kang and see if you get apn and data out of the box.
If beta 4_funny_Sim.zip didn't work for you, then you don't have a funny Sim . You should be skraight with the regular releases..
I just wish i knew what has to be done to prepare a recent cm9 Kang release for new bb funny Sim.. :/
Then we wouldn't be so helpless. Lol, i have asked several tines, no one seems to know (or care enough to at least steer un the right direction)
Yeah I've given up..I even posted a thread but no one took interest..just a one stop place for T-Mobile USA users who keep having these problems

We have the same problem with our CM9 ROM for the SGW. Is this caused by CyanogenMod or is this a thing which has to by patched on the baseband side ?
Is there a possibility to convert a "funny SIM" to a normal SIM by copying the data with some tools ? (Sounds "futuristic , but I have no other idea ^^)
This problem is really creepy and kills my nerve !!!

Samsung Galaxy something??
Well,
for P500... LupoHirp has a working Rom for Funny Sim.. Its CM9_Beta4_Funny_Sim.zip.. you can find the link i think in one of my previous posts...
I have tried copying the three Lib files in question, as per the P500 Cm7 baseband fix.... but, it didnt seem to work..
I tried to copy the files from the working (for me) Beta4_Funny_Sim.zip, over to the laetst Kang rom.. Didn't do the job..
I think there are a few other files tha i am missing... But, i know..
If Beta4 works on my phone, I'm sure it can work with the later Roms..
Just need to get in touch with Lupohirp and figureout which files\settings are relative....
Hope someone see's this..
I've tried posting in the main threads... no one knows or chooses not to respond.. :/

Okay,
I saw some other whinny babies doing what they do best, in regards to getting a Funny_Sim patch...
But,
The problem is... Arjen thinks life is too short... He only has so much time in the day, and can't be bothered with our minuscule requests for Funny_Sim.
(which is understandable as we all have personal lives.. )
So, Whinny Babies..
Don't Ask For Pach.. You Won't Get It from them (as of now)..
Instead, maybe ask them for thepertinent informaiton and or files\settings of interest in regard to the Funny Sim..
That seems, to me, to be a more reasonable request of their time...
If i knew which files they were... I'm sure we can put our heads together and create a Funny_Sim_CM9_Pach.zip ourselves..
So,
If they still choose to ignore a reasonable request, in a manner showing concern and understanding for their time value, then whine some more.. whatev.. Lol
(please, i hope someone finds humor in my, at times, tryingly sarcastic yet charming tone) :]

Oh Poo.. I can't get that link to work in the phone.. :/
Can you send the file to me via email?
Well i tried the zip but it won't load past setup.. I'll check up on the files in question directly and see if that makes a difference
I run Lupohirp's cm9 testing version and have working data on my p-509 on t-mo,
I'm surprised you are on the new baseband since t-mo never released gingerbread for our phones, but I rooted a long time ago, and have flashed a bunch of roms, so OTA updates aren't coming my way ; p
I got it to work with a file called PatchOldBB.zip (181.54 KB) which I think I got from NightlyFourE_v3.4 rom page.
I know it might not apply since you have newer BB but I thought I'd share my experience anyhow on the off chance it helps.

That is what this 368kb flash zip was created for to patch the rom to allow access to second system to the internal sdcard and your micro sdcard
Before somebody got confused (BootMenu = lot of patches)
Maybe you need to clarify that this patched is only a temporary solution for 0.2.7
Upcoming BootMenu 0.2.8 will done this automatically during ROM Conversion process
Thanks

hi im currently in process of porting a stock deodexed rom.
i have changed system files and the update script.for out i9305. at moment i am able to install the rom fine and loads up with or without wipe. i also included the ee modem.
my issue is that when the rom starts all is ok and there are no force closes however i get no network and imei shows null. to resolve this i just flash param.tar in odin and stock file and all is back to original with imei restored.
any ideas on whats causing the loss of imei number
in setting imei and baseband showbas unknown
edit whilst restoring to stock i did not have to restore imei backups so am asuming efs part is fine

Try merging our system and framework so it picks it up as our xxali5 or xxali9 you have to get rid of there base and put our base instead but leave the edited files so maybe the system apps folder stays the i9300 as the apps are the same i think but change the rest into our firmware hmmmm so maybe a better idea would be to have a blank deodexed and zipaligned xxali5 rom move and overwrite our files with the edited files of the i9300 that way all our efs and imei doesnt get touched

Basically there are some intensely different changes within the services.jar, framework.jar, android-policy.jar and so forth. 4G LTE is sooo much different than the stock i9300. I am not saying it CAN'T be done. But I am saying it is going to be a complete bastard to do. Put it this way, you'd be better off looking into all of the modifications that have been done to create these ROMS and re-doing them to the i9305.
Trust me, I have looked into doing this with a "customised" build to from sources for ICS for the P7320T tablet that I had. It is the only 4G tablet released here in Australia. The closest I could find in sources for being able to make the connection was grabbing settings systemUI and the others I have listed above ^^^ from the S2 4G LTE. Then I was going to have to modify the systemUI specifically for tablet mode.
I no longer have the tablet nor the patience to want to take on anything like it again.
All I can say is good luck. Feel free to check my threads to confirm that my choices are not a conflict of motivation or lack of determination...god I can assure you that much
Just for a tip. I started today with decompiling the android-policy.jar file to see if I could enable the torch app double click home from lock screen feature....this has been done on i9300 right? Go take a look at the full guide on how to do it...go decompile 1 file that I am talking about and you will see just how different the methods are in all of the smali code. JOY!

What tools are you using to "port" this ROM to our device?
I have tools that can port ROMs in about 30-40min.
What have you got in the build.prop for this thing? Do you want to upload the ROM for me to take a look at? The least I could do is offer some help before raining on your parade lol.
Have you considered doing maybe a "splice" of the ROM. Rather than porting the full version, you could do a diff/compare of the modded ROM against it's stock counterpart. Then you migrate those changes over to your "stock i9305" base. That is going to be your best chance of doing this I reckon? also you won't be able to copy across the firmware version. That won't work. Your framework and the firmware version are going to be device specific.
The absolute best thing I can think of suggesting is to go with a known base equivilant?? Like it seems that there is a release of XXALI5 (for touchwiz at least?) on both devices. That would be where I would start first and foremost. I would port with that common version using what I described above and then migrating any further or additional functionality (developer made i.e. Wanams mods) that have been done since the XXALI5 release.
That is going to be your best bet.
Or you guys could just wait for me to release my ROM haha...subtle promotion? I think not.

Exactly
I have a methodology that does this very easy. I wanted the OP to upload his work so far to save me a download. But I might just go ahead and do it anyway.
Have you guys got permissions from Wanam to use his work? I will ask on your behalf if not. He is a great contributor to this forum, I don't wish to have him offside.
What I mean is that I will go ahead and play, but I won't re-upload any test files to the forum without his consent This shouldn't be too hard
---------- Post added at 12:40 PM ---------- Previous post was at 11:53 AM ----------
Contacted Wanam. I will wait to see what he says and recommends. I have claimed I am not releasing anything of his, so this can be owned by you guys who want it. I am happy to help get the ball rolling to help yous though. I have my own dev team that I work with so that makes me kinda busy. That is why I haven't released my own ROM on here yet lol
Downloaded XXLAI5 Wanam, Downloaded XXLAI5 stock i9300, have already downloaded XXLAI5 stock i9305 and I am currently deodexeding it as we speak.
Will deodex i9300 XXALI5 next and then do a comparison to Wanams. Segregate changed files - > port to stock deodexed base = Wanam i9305 for you guys
That's if Wanam approves of course?
EDIT: Hey Mr OP can you please contact me? I cannot send you PMs? Holy smokes you've been around this place since 09!
Ok Analysis done on Wanam compared to stock XXALI5 and have all the of the files seperated and within their directory structure that had changes.
There is going to be some work needed to be done on these main files:
/system/framework/android.policy.jar
/system/framework/framework2.jar
/system/framework/services.jar
/system/app/systemUI.apk
As I expected
Now the fun n games start I will decompile all of these files and then diff them against the standard i9300 smali coding and then *attempt* (and I say that with all great intension too) to migrate the changes across into decompiled i9305 files.
I can tell this is going to be a head ache!
Otherwise though....I can honestly say that what I have got so far I know for certain will boot and you will not have baseband issues. You won't however have 15 toggle mod as it stands. Services.jar and Android policy.jar both control this feature. I see that this *IS* available as a mod already on this forum but I am not certain that the creators realise that these modifications (mentioned here) actually do need to be performed.
Lidroid-res.apk within framework will have no rights to control the toggle on the systemUI cause it won't have permissions due to conflicting signature checking. note...toggles may appear, but they won't do anything when you touch the widget toggle, it will be non-responsive.
Thanks guys
Thats what i said we should just try copying over the whole system app folder and replacing it with our deodexed rom. Try doing that as the firstt step

System app is fine, but that isn't where the changes are that make Wanams ROM. You'd have your self a standard ROM otherwise. As in no difference. Or if you just copied the system/app folder ROM would boot but systemUI would force close. You would also have no reboot menu and no USB read from the phone. That would equal disasterous....cause as we all know we don't have SD mount in recovery do we?
Fancy doing an adb push on a phone that doesn't install USB connection files?
See I wouldn't be stupid enough to do that without having at least a clockwork recovery backup lol.
It's ok. for the android.policy.jar they are identical (well for XXALI5 they are anyway) to the i9300. So simple trade in there.
Only 4 more files to go and I will have you guys a port
Wanam still has not contacted me back yet though so I we need approval before anything.
Reset scrolling caches. In framework2.jar
This took a bit of work because my notepad++ kept crashing running compare. If you guys ever have this issue, right click the executable in program files go to properties and compatibility and then check the boxes for:
- disable visual themes
- disable desktop composition
- disable high dpi scaling.
Apply.
No more crashing. Windows 7 aero apparently doesn't like the compare dll?
Anyway not related. I am back on track. last jar file and then it should be ready to package up and it will be the same as Wanam ROM XXALI5
Got approval from Wanam. Just about to test flash now. Will upload it here if everything works out
Well, I had a few mishaps with my own device. Namely no root access and also lost hardware ID...meaning no Android Market. This all happened sometime during my lengthy list of modifications so I was not sure where. That mean flash back to stock and restore my data bit by bit until I was set up again. This take for EVER!
So yeah no real feedback from anyone in here so have decided to finish off my own ROM instead. XXALI9 (newer) and a heap more mods than stock Wanam. So far so good.
I can upload what work I did on getting Wanam's up and running (I have not flashed it yet) but will wait till someone actually wants before I go ahead and do that.
Thanks guys
James
