I'm trying to use my ext Sd to work for downloads, recovery, saving everything on there. Even apps to Sd. Why isn't it working?

Did you try to change the storage settings to store everything in what they call "storage card" or ext_sd?
Search in the settings - storage - app storage location settings and update everything there to dump in the storage card.
Maybe this can help.

This might sound ridiculous to you but it worked for me and I hope it does for you too.
1)Check if your sd card is mounted correctly onto your phone itself.
2)Enter Usb mode , mass storage than disconnect usb through the computer.
This happens to me too, but it was because of the SD brand (samnsung). I change it for a kingston and the problem was solve.
During unmounting no app on sd card is seen and no app from market can be installed.with file explore all file browse normaly

If the sd is unmounted, it's obvious that the app IN the sd will not work.
In setting in option of sdcard and storage the option of formate sd is not clickable and on clicking unmounting sd card force close happen

You said earlier that after you updated the firmware , random unmonting of sd card happened. My only advise that I can give you is to downgrade using KDZ.
I wish you all the best.
As i say, if you're using an app installed in the sd and you unmount it, you can't access to that app until you mount your sd again.
If you want to format your sd, first you must unmount it, and then the format option will appear.

I have the same problem. I thought it was caused by the different roms but that didn't seem to be the case.

I wish you all the best downgrading.
Well, if the problems begin whit the update, try flashing or install other custom rom.
Is their anyway you disable the external to internal storage script. I use my sd between a few devices so I would rather stick to the arrangements that the phone comes with then have my sd card being used for everything.

Just pull out your sd card. Go to script manager and remove the script from "Set on boot" and "su". Restart phone.
Be careful with that.
If you installed apps onto your sd card while it was set as your "internal" those apps will not work and some apps will give you a lot of problems if they need both external and internal storage (games primarely)
Hope this helps

I'll be sure to give this a shot. I normally install roms without the sdcard anyway. Thanks

Alright, so when I try to take pictures or screenshots, it says it's unable to do so because I'm out of storage or something? I have 1.5gigs of internal left, and 28gigs of external.
Any help/suggestions? Never had this before.
I am running Beans 6, by the way
Edit - figured it out
You had it set to ext sd card in the camera right? Once you change it to internal memory in the camera app it should work and then store it on the ext sd card right?

I'm having problems with a few sd cards on the stock verizon. My phone has been rebooting on it's own and the only thing that's fixed it so far was swapping the sd card out the first time and formatting it the second time.

I tried that, but even then it still wouldn't work. Downloading from browsers and all, didn't work either.

You could always try Link2SD. It's an app that let's you move any app to a secondary partition on your SD card. I used it on a previous phone that had very limited internal storage. It helped a lot.

Also Titanium backup and similar apps will allow you to move apps to the sdcard (most apps need root).

Are you receiving some kind of error message? Could you explain your problem a little more so that we can help you?
Here are a few guides I found for Setting Up Link2SD on your phone's SD card. Here's another one.
I think the problem is the samsung phone. Same happens on the s3, where "sdcard" is actually an emulated location, part of the internal memory, just a label.
So, apps installed on internal are detected by normal means as already installed in sdcard. These phones usually label the removable sd card as extsdcard.
Nothing to do for the moment, apps like directory bind helped creating links (just as link2sd does) between external and internal sdcard.
Yes. It gives me a message about "shell".

If you're rooted and dirty-flashed a rom, you can get the same error. I had the same issue awhile back with a particular rom I flashed/upgraded. Hope that helps.

could be not enough room in the system partition due to the way some apps work?
just guessing but the space it needs might not be in the partitions you are looking at?
how can I view the internal storage on my phone? it says I have 9 gigs full but I don't know how to view it in astro
