Hi Comm
Since Link2SD is used all over the Android community I am dragging this out to here...

Hi Comm
I am using Link2SD on my Ace since a long time now, so internal memory was not an issue anymore since then.
Usually the internal memorys usage is somewhere around 100MB, leaving plenty of space for cachefiles.
Today, out of a sudden, my internal memory shows a usage of almost 150MB ... WTF!?
I cleaned all caches, and checked within Link2SD whether all my apps are linked to the 2nd partition. They are...
That makes almost 50MB of something in my internal memory, and i have no idea where it came from or what it could be...
Thanks for your help!

The HTC phone from my girlfriend is affected in the same way. Maybe there went something wrong with the last release of Link2SD!?

The main issue with apps like linktosd or app2sd is that they are moving apps wich cannot be moved (not in every case)
So if an app wich normaly needs to be on ur internal storage makes some requests it will be allowed to to store some data on ur internal storage
i know this sucks but cus of that reason i bought an phone with 1 gb internal sorage so it works

I believe the specs says 512mb of ram, and 1gb of ROM. What is the difference I don't know, but I"m sure it runs out of "ram". I don't know if we have access to the "rom". Hope it helps!

um.. I'm talking about Rom, not RAM. Internal memory is Rom. It should have 1GB ROM, but only showing 550mb...
Anyway, I've solved the problem, the logservice of Dell Venue keeps creating log files up to 2mb each each time I force close the apps, and therefore has eaten up all ROM! I've got to root it to clear these useless log files.
Oh, sorry, didn't know the phone had EXTERNAL ram...my bad. You see, my Venue has 512MB INTERNAL RAM and 1GB INTERNAL ROM. Where did you get your Venue from...???
I didn't mean to offend you and thanks for your reply. Anyway i've checked my friend's Venue and it's also showing 550mb, very strange indeed.

Hi, can you tell me where log files are kept? Since I found out this issue, when Force Close happens, I choose Log to SD Card then I can delete manually. But for ones logged on ROM I don't know where.
My Venue rooted.

Try redoing the mount script of link2SD and reboot, then relink librarys and dex . Check the data size of apps also (even linked ones) maybe an update or a newly installed app used a huge chunk of internal memory in their data.

It won't let me redo the mount script, since the device is already mounted!?
I did all of the other stuff thow, without success. I also kicked three apps that where installed recently, also without any improvement...
Guess i will kick the bucket and redo the phone from scratch when i find the time...

This is why Links2SD sucks. S2E or DarkTremor highly recommended.

[Q] Cannot free Internal storage-diff free storage info in storage & app menu

Hi,
I have a weird problem with my S2 running samsung stock ICS 4.0.3. i have been using sgs2 for over a year now and whenever my free internal storage goes below 250MB i move the apps to SD card. But now No. of apps in SDcard has hit the Android limit so i simply delete the Apps. But off late that is not freeing up my internal memory. Soon after deleting apps it shows internal memory freed but by next day or it again fills up. This is when i check my storage at Settings-> storage (shows ~220MB). when i check my with settings -Applications it stays free and now its showing 600MB free. This was not the case earlier. Both the values above remained more or less same. So i have deleted ~300MB worth of applications without freeing up my storage
I have been searching vigorously but found no solutions. I have read about Wifi logs issue but it should have started soon after ICS upgrade. In fact till very recently it was fine coz i had to delete lot of Appa due to Android SD card bug. my free space went upto ~400Mb. Not now suddenly. In fact i changed nothing in my sgs2 to cause this. I noticed this issue when i installed and then uninstalled SYBIL. Would deleting Dalvik cache help? if yes then how to do it?
What else should i do? Is there a way to resolve this of find a workaround without Rooting. I love to root my phone and enjoy the freedom it offers but i have absolutely no time to do that.
Please help
Helppp... something .... anything ... am i the only unfortunate one with this issue??
or if you know a an expert in XDA who i can PM .. please forward me his handle.

finally found a solution in a thread in xda "A simple way to free up storage space is by deleting all the log files in the device memory. Just dial *#9900# on your phone and select option 2 “Delete dumpstate/logcat” in the prompted menu. It's not necessary to root your phone either. I restored 1.4 gig of space after doing this."

[Q] Internal Storage

I can't seem to access all the internal storage in my Note. I know I have 16gb in total and plenty of free space left. But when I go to setting and look under storage I find two listing of internal storage. I'm not sure why I have two internal storages. This is apart from my external sd card. One of the storage is around 2 gb and the other one is 11gb. Yet under the 11gb it says I only have around 500 MB free even though I almost have nothing on my phone. Whenever I do a backup of my ROM I seem to run out of space. Can't take pictures anymore. So I can't even backup as I keep running out of space.
I thought it might have something to do with the rom so i switched from CM9 to CM10. No change. Now I'm using liquid smooth and it's still the same. Can anyone tell me why I have two internal storages? And why there's so little free space even though I barely have any data?
Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!

Please use the search feature... its has been explained quite a few times (by myself at least 3 times)....
Simple explanation:
In order to use the setup as-is (no major user changes), 2GB is set aside for /data and a few GB here and there for other partitions, the rest is for your personal storage... so data/system/cache/recovery/bleh is set aside and you get 11GB~ of usable storage space...
The end
Since everything by default of the FAULTY setup for Android phone devices these days saves to internal memory... your backup's of your phone, pictures, app cache.. app data... it all gets saved to that internal memory storage area... Use something like Solid Explorer and check it out to find out whats eating all your space and possibly clean it up or move some/most of it to your REAL /sdcard...
Thanks. That worked.
I deleted a bunch of stuff that was left over from the previous owner. Not sure why it was still there even though I formatted my memory when installing ROMs. Does this mean that it only formats the 2 GB internal storage? And not the one for my personal usage?
Also I tried searching for some more info on the split internal storage on the forums. Couldn't find anything. Would you please explain or give me a link that explains in detail the function of two internal storages?
Again, thanks for all your help.

The internal storage is not cleared by a standard wipe, IIRC, theres an option in the stock rom to wipe the internal storage but you have to chose it when performing the factory reset option!
OR when using twrp/cwm you have to manually chose to wipe the internal storage/memory...
Otherwise it all stays behind...
I cant find my good post about it... IIRC it was in the n7k forums somewhere... Ive made too many posts to sort through in the interim...
Heres a thread someone else made earlier a month or 2 ago where I posted with basically what I said above, there really isnt that much to expand upon:

Can anyone explain me why the internal memory is always down

Guys, seriously, its been a long time since my phone started to show red smal icon of a chip in upper left corner, telling the internal memory of my phone is finishing, I m done with deleting unnecessary apps. What can i do ? I tried to clean cashe, delete downloaded files from apps..
Get a phone with more internal memory
Just kidding
If its rooted and you have an SD card you can potentially run apps off an ext partition, unroofed phones will allow some apps to be moved to fat partition but this slows things down
Maybe add in what kind of phone and some more details for further help

Depending on your phone, the ROM it runs also takes a good majority of the ram, installing apps like a mad man makes it even worse.
