[Q] Ad-Hoc on ICS - Galaxy S II Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I have an Ubuntu Laptop and I'm not able to share my LAN connection to my Android phone. The WiFi hotspot feature in Ubuntu creates an Ad-Hoc connection which cannot be detected by ICS. Anyone have a modded wpa_supplicant to enable Ad-Hoc in ICS? I'm on stock XWLP7 if that helps.
Help would really be appreciated.

You don't have any solutions doesn't mean no one has any. Why say unnecessary stuff if you have no help to provide?

[Q] Reverse Tethering on P500

Can the LG Optimus One P500 be reverse tethered i.e. when the mobile is connected to a PC with the cable then the phone can access the internet via the PC.
My HTC Incredible S used to do this and I did search a bit before posting this but I couldn't find a way to make my LG Optimus One P500 do it. Any suggestions?

Reverse tethering will allow me to use internet available on any machine even while I'm in transit. Think laptop+data card
Hence the query
Used to use this some time back when I was on Windows.
Also, cool sig

That works if your laptop has WiFi. Sometimes I have an old laptop with me which doesn't have WiFi or I'm visiting a friend who doesn't have WiFi. Reverse tethering hack would really help out.
Couldn't find a link for reverse tethering. Any suggestions?

Yes, it definitely requires an Internet connection. That's how you get the weather, web searches or anything else that you're looking for.

I'd like to know if it requires the internet to interpret what you are saying;
Eg. "open the camera" would that require data?

Ad-hoc patch support

Hi
I have searched but it has not been mentioned for a while.
Is anyone working on it?
Is it hard to do?
I need it as ny computer doesn't support AP
Thanks

All I know is the people who make the Ad Hoc Enabler App removed it from the market to update it so I guess that might mean they working on it, but haven't heard of anyone seriously working on it.

Help please! - "Obtaining IP address" WiFi problem on Galaxy SIII

Hello there.
I bought Samsung Galaxy SIII about two months ago, it was working great untill I updated it OTA. I had Android 4.04 before the update, when I updated it, it was still 4.04 but since then, my WiFi's not working. I mean, it works when I'm in the room where the router is, but when I leave the room, I don't have internet access. I updated to Jelly Bean OTA, still nothing. The problem is still there. Any suggestions? If you need more info about my phone, feel free to ask. Thank you in advance.
Anyone? Please help, without Wi-Fi my phone is useless for me.

Are you sure? Because I don't want to lose all my data. And I already tried it when I had Android 4.04 and it didn't fix it, but I did not try it on Jelly Bean.

Still nothing, any other ideas?
I doubt it has got something to do with the update. (I'm not saying it's impossible - It's just highly unlikely)
Maybe you typed the password wrong, or the security type is wrong.
Try deleting the network, from your device, and then checking out the different settings, like WEP, WPA, WPA2-Personal (PSK) and then checking if your password was/is incorrect

My password is not incorrect because I can connect when I'm in the room where the router is, but as soon as I leave, like 10 metres away from router, it disconnects and I get that " Obtaining IP address" error.

Nope, it would need drivers which don't exist. OTG is really only for external media or HID

My school was far behind. In 1996 when I left, they just got the internet and was for "teachers only". We had commerce (which was typing) and that was about it. In 2000, I still didn't really understand what a C: drive was (Although I could use DOS oddly).

No I don't think rooting is required for that.

You can find lots of tutorials for it.
Actually I have done it.
